The premise of the game is good however, the ads are beyond ridiculous to the point of irritation amounting to quitting the game. Also the riddle at the top you solve there’s no rhyme or reason to the riddle no clue no idea no question it’s just blank until you solve other clues which is fine but the top then makes no sense as to a connection to the game whatsoever.

I hate giving such a negative review to a game I could see myself enjoying but the amount of ads in this game is beyond ridiculous. I tried ignoring them and skipping through them but every single puzzle has an ad before AND after you complete it. I don’t think I want to play a game where 99% of the time I’m watching ads and being forced to pay $5 to get rid of them.

The game itself is fun and gets your brain gears rolling. But after every level there’s an ad for another game and it’s frustrating when you’ve gotten into flow and would like to continue to next level. The ads a long, & on top of that, you can’t skip them until like 10secs or more. I deleted it from my phone for this reason. As I said the game was fun - ads not so much.

Enjoyed the game. Ads were too much. Paid to remove them. Now the game freezes and won’t start. When you uninstall and reinstall it might work but you start on many of those initial levels so it’s no longer challenging or worth playing. I look forward to the developer copying and pasting the exact same reply I’ve read 20 times already to others who’ve had this same issue

I loved this game. I love word puzzles, and this one was fun. I really enjoyed playing before bed.
I purchased the no ads option. Shortly following this, it stopped loading. There was an update so I updated my phone, restarted it, uninstalled/reinstalled three times (each time having to do the stupid tutorial). It works for a session, but then to open the app again, it does not load.

I downloaded this app and played it for an hour (also paid to remove ads), then closed out of it. When I went to open it back up later, it just gets stuck on the loading screen and never opens. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it worked again, but I lost all my progress. Then I closed out of it again and went to reopen it and the same problem happened! I can’t get past the loading screen.

Downloaded the game, finished ONE puzzle, got an ad, uninstalled. Ridiculous.

Update: I don’t go into games hoping for no ads. I DO go into games hoping that I can actually get a sense of what a game is before being advertised to. I understand that ads help pay for the development and improvement of games, but there is NEVER a reason to have an ad after the first puzzle-which was literally only a tutorial puzzle.

Usually with games like this, they allow you to use the game offline since you’re literally only playing by yourself 9 times out of 10 and as such have no reason to need Wi-Fi for data that can be downloaded when the app isn’t open or when the app is installed…Not with this one. Very disappointing. I have a bad feeling that the ads, like other ratings have mentioned, will be egregiously prominent and keep me from enjoying the game.

Since the new update of IOS I can’t get it work. I have reinstalled the app several times. It gets stuck at the opening screen. Secondly, the app doesn’t save my data in the cloud even though I paid for the ad-free version. Maybe I need to seek a refund. Each time I reinstall it works once or twice and then not again. It just get stuck. Moreover, I keep paying the same games over and over because it didn’t save the level I achieved. I’m sooo disappointed.

I have to agree with everybody in the comments. Maybe after every 5 games or 3 you have a ad, because your levels after you beat every single one you have to watch, skip, exit, and back out of the App Store just to get back to the game…. Maybe if you offer (free) “hints” for watching ads it wouldn’t be so bad. Might delete, it’s a lot extra to skip the ads when I can buy a cheap crossword book someone let me know if they update and change! Would love to try again

Overall, the game is easy to learn and play. There are more ads than I’d really like and sometimes they pop up at odd times. Most of the puzzles are rather easy, but occasionally a word or two will be more difficult to solve.

Besides the ads, my biggest complaint is that the ‘facts’ they show when you solve a puzzle aren’t always correct (like ‘Australia has poisonous snakes’ when they actually have venomous snakes). Not a super big deal, unless you like to remember the bits of trivia.

Love this type of word puzzle! With that said, there is much the devs can do to improve this app!
First off, the style, coloring, just the general appearance needs to be better… way better! Feels like an app from 10 years ago! Come on, modernize it!
Second, desperately need DARK MODE!

There are numerous apps with this type of word puzzle, even another from this same dev. What makes this one stand out to me are the interesting “facts” given after you solve a puzzle! Keep those facts coming!

But PLEASE Improve the appeal of your app!

I understand that ads are necessary for earning revenue but goodness gracious! You open the app- get an ad. Select begin- get an ad. Complete the puzzle- get an ad. Read the trivia- get an ad. Go back to the home page to do nothing more than select begin again- get an ad! And these aren’t at all the brief ones that you can exit in 5-15 seconds. These long ads seem to be to intentionally annoy players into paying for the subscription. Well the annoyance part has been effective. Cool game but I have to uninstall as it causes more stress than it relieves.

I am not a native English speaker but I enjoy playing this game a lot and would love to see some improvements such as:
- dark mode option
- including a manual to explain some things like how some words have a dot next to them and what does that indicate.
- explaining how the levels work because its kinda confusing, and even after playing the game for 2 months I don't get it. For example, in the TODAYS GOAL page, why is the top level highlighted, but then we play the bottom level? And why is it called todays goal if the levels never end? Shouldn't it just be numbered levels? Are the levels updated daily or are they always there in the system waiting for ghe player to reach the level?
- also, some synonyms just does not make sense at all, I wonder if they get checked by language experts.

I’ve never been one to write reviews but I love this game. And no, I’m not being paid by the company to write this.

I read some of these reviews and all the bad ones are for the adds and how “the ad payment doesn’t work.” Okay if you’re gonna pay 5 bucks to block adds on a game then that’s the first problem you got.
And yes, I admit the adds are really freaking annoying. It’s after every round. Which can be annoying but the game itself is amazing and I’m actually clicking on it and learning instead of using social media and losing brain cells.
But seriously, the only flaws are the adds which I understand and sometimes the questions are really hard but you can get hints which are helpful.
But in the end I love this game and I highly recommend it to someone who’s trying to learn a few extra facts. 5/5

I was enjoying the game, relaxing and a quiet way to wind down. At first the ads were typical ads for other games, like candy crust type stuff.

Then, I got and ad that was pretty sexual and eventually there was a sensitive content warn that popped up. I didn’t click on it, ai apptr Oates the warning, just let it play with the filter over the top so I could move on with my game.

The next ad was a fashion game, which said she needed to get dressed for a BDSM party. Again, not my deal but okay.

Last ad was a medical game app. Where they were lancing puss pockets in someones throat. Then the you give it a try part of the ad came up with all kinds of pictures to choose from, including removing something from someone’s butt. I mean, okay, there is probably an audience for that but it’s just not me. Deleted the app.

I never leave reviews on games or apps but I had to here. I played one round on this game then got an ad, totally normal. For some tiki solitaire game. No biggie.

Not interested in the ad, I let my phone sit for a minute waiting for an option to close the ad to appear. After 2 minutes nothing appeared, so I decided to play along and play the small demo for the game within the ad.

After finishing, the screen shifted to suggest I click to download the game from the ad. Not interested, I again let my phone sit waiting for an option to return to Crostic. Again, nothing happened.

Defeated, I clicked the option to download the ad game hoping it would make the ad go away and I could resume playing. No luck. Repeatedly for 5 minutes I tried pressing everywhere and anywhere on my screen, but it would only send me to the App Store to download this new ad game.

I have never removed a game from my phone so quickly, shame because I felt like this had potential. I have downloaded hundreds of games over the years and this is the first time I have ever given a 1 star review.

I played one game then got to an ad. You can’t get past the ad. I kept waiting for the ad to finish but it doesn’t happen. I understand ads make money but this ridiculous. The ads are clearly more important than the game. I’ve never deleted a game so fast

Unfortunately this game is not for adults as it is way too easy. Each level can be solved in under 20 seconds and there are ads after every level. Cute idea for young kids but for anyone older there’s no challenge or difficulty making the game lackluster.

I downloaded the game and played only the first tutorial. I paid the 4.99 for no ads. But cannot play. It simply states “connection lost”. I have deleted, restarted my phone, clear cache, nothing. So I would like my money returned if game isn’t going to work.

Played one game and had an ad, which would normally not be a big deal, but the ad was basically cartoon porn that never gave a way to X out. Played a second game and got a second, less controversial ad, but still no option to close out without going to the App Store.

Like many games there’s too many ads but this takes it to the extreme. Before and after anything you do are these longs, repetitive ads. I can’t take it anymore so as nice as it was to learn facts, I’m deleting it. No one’s buying hundreds of games on here, people are over it ✌️

I really liked this game. Thought it would be good to help my son with his vocabulary, but highly tempting and inappropriate ads came up for him. No thanks. You have a good game, but I don’t need you taking my kid down a dark path that leads to things he can’t come back from. Boo!

I’ve never seen a game like this, I enjoy crosswords but I’ve never ever seen one where it’s so difficult! I installed thinking this would be a fun game, instead it asks answers to questions I didn’t even learn in college! I can’t believe people are installing this! Do not recommend.

Like the game but when I spend at least twice the time looking at ads as I do actually playing any game I get rid of it. I know your automatic reply is you have them so you can continually update the game or fix bus, but this one is by far worse than many others available on the App Store.

I read so many reviews that this game is relatively easy! NOT! I have NO IDEA WHAT the square root of 27 is! UGGGH Route traversed? WHAT! …Platoon and company? HUH ….THESE reviewers must be crossword ENTHUSIAST! I AM REALLY STRUGGLING Have to watch ads to get clues most of the time

Games is really fun too many ads not willing to pay five dollars almost to get rid of as probably won’t play games very much if at all I really hate games that have ads every five seconds are after every time you play one level really sick of these supposed free games but you have to pay to get rid of ads or pay to get things you should already win
