error in billing - placing bill in collection without notifying customer
Re: acct no. [protected] – direct tv account closed – february 2013 I am writing this on behalf of my direct tv account listed above. I have two accounts with your company. However, I was never informed that I had a closing amount on this particular account.In order to review the bill direct tv had to send me a closing bill online. I would have never been aware of this account until it appeared on my credit while financing a new home. My other account #[protected] which has been established since april 2011 is open and current. This is a big concern for my family and I because of this error. I may not be able to qualify for the home. Please help me to resolve this matter. I’ve enclosed a copy of the bill and my payment on the account.In order for my finance to be approved I need a statement stating that this bill was in error. Have been trying to get help this account for this account for two weeks. Please help trying to close escrow on my new home !

This company is a complete joke the sales guys are pushy as can be they are thought to just speed read and ask if that's ok? Every 10 seconds I was promised my service would be completed Friday well I get the call Friday saying they will not be there till Saturday I asked how long they said from 12-4 the tech could arrive and only takes a hour to complete service and I was the second call so id more then likely see them at 2pm well 4:10 the tech called and said he was 25 min away from being done and he would need 4 hours to install I got I touch with there customer service team nothing was offered to keep me the next available appointment was 6 days away they have no respect for customer time and the sales people do nothing but lie I hate companys that you have to talk to 82 people before your complete they allowed me to cancel my service but now there internet partner Verizon expects me to pay for there mess up hahaha
$200 rebate as returning
I received a letter from Direct TV to return to their services, if I did I would receive a $200 debit card. I signed up within the time period (Oct. I, 2015). I spent two h ours on the phone asking how to get my rebate, I was transferred to five people, they all told me that they couldn't help me but would transfer me to the right section, each time I was on hold for several minutes. I realized that they were instructed to agitate customers so that they would give up. What a lousy outfit that they turned out to be. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy, they are nothing but cheats.
they took my money by fraud
My boyfriend ordered direct t. v.in jan of 2015. it was installed march 7. the co required a equipment setup fee at install. since my boyfriend david doesn't have a checking acct, credit card or debit card, I offered to pay the $27.00 fee. customer service asked me when I paid the fee with my debit card if I would like to set it up for auto payments out of my account. I told then "no". months go by, then in oct 2015 I notice I am missing $26.16. since it was a small amount I thought I must of spent it myself and didn't think alot more about it. then on nov. 3, the day my checks are deposited into my account, I had paid a couple bills and went to the closest atm, about 6 miles away to get some cash out, I knew my balance was a little over $300.00 to my surprize... my balance was zero! I was so shocked. I immediately called and found out that direct t. v. took all of my money without authority iam not a customer. my name is not on the account nor have I ever signed anything with them. I have not given permission at any time since installation of equipment and the one time fee for such. since then then have talked to them at least 20 times and get the same runaround story of how sorry they are and my money will be deposited back into my aaccount within 2-3 days. well it's been over a mth and I want my money. I am a elderly lady that had a serious heart condition. this has ruined my credit as I am now late on my truck payments and they are trying to come and get my $20, 000. truck over a 189.00 late payment. the bank told me last night that I wouldn't believe how often they hear these kinds of stories. that direct t. v. is stealing from seniors, disabled and those most helpless ones that can do nothing about it. wrong! I for one am not just going to lay down and allow them to walk on me like a door mat. I have closed my account at the bank and have a new one. try and get to it now direct t. v. the rep at the bank also told me that everyday since nov 20 tthat direct t. v. tried every day to get over $500. out of my acct. every day. why ar e they doing this? my new card will arrive in a few days. it cost me $14.00 just to get it quickly. can u believe it how big business is getting us even if it's not our bill? I want all of you that hhavnt owed a bill or been in a direct t. v, acct and had your money stolen by direct t. v, taking it, to get a hold of aclu and the atorney general in your state. they will i, investigate and will do something about it. we might even get our money back! they arnt thinking too clear. this old lady will fight for her rights till the cows come home! I want my money. it belongs to me and no-one has the right to ever think they can touch it. people.. stand up for yourselves. god bless and keep us all in his care.. we need all the help we can get. get them where it hurts them. their shares.
UPDATE TO 'They took my money by FRAUD! It took three.months and 23 calls to them, but believe it or not they did in fact return. Most. Of the Money. They put it back into my account. They still owe me $29.00 but just think I got it back. The gov bank that controls my debit account had threatened to go after them. Its great! Thanks

Direct TV is the worst! I signed up, had service installed on 11/3, got home, called my current cable company to disconnect service and was told that I'd have to pay a cancellation fee. A fee that the Direct TV rep told me I would not have to pay since I was keeping internet. Direct TV offered to give me a Visa gift card for $100. That doesn't cover the cancellation fee, so NO. I should not be out of money due to their lies. They also lied about the channels we would get, along with other lies regarding service. I immediately told them to disconnect the service. They did, but then my current cable didn't work. Turns out Direct TV jacked up all of the wires. Ridiculous! Next, I get billing statements. I called and asked why I was being charge ANYTHING, as I'd already paid the installation fee (which also annoys me since I didn't even use their awful service), the rep said that "The records say you cancelled service on 11/4". LIES! I cancelled the very same day, 11/3. She argued with me, as did the rep who I spoke with to find out why my cables were all messed up. Lies and bad service. How is Direct TV still in business?

When I established my service in May 2014 I was given NFL Sunday Ticket and HBO/Showtime. I advised the sales representative I did not want the service but he told me it was the best price. He advised me to call back and cancel the services within three months. I call and cancelled the services as advised. My DirectTV bill is combined with my local telephone company and we pay the bill online as soon as notified. Yesterday I pulled the bill to see I have been billed NFL Sunday Ticket at $41.99 for 4 months. When I called DirectTV I was told that I did cancel the service but it automatically renews. Further advised I should have noticed the charge and notified them I didn't want it. They are refusing to credit my account and I have made 4 calls to speak with a supervisor only to be told I'll receive a call back. Three days later no call back!

I was moving from California to Arizona. I had direct tv service which I was planning on transferring to new address. I had lived in the residence in California from November till end of july, which time I had their service. I called and requested to transfer service, I was told because I did not have service for 1 year I had to pay $300 for the dish. the dish was on the house when I moved in. I left the dish on the house. the new resident is still using the same dish that they want me to pay for. they were supposed to suspend my service and they are telling me my service is in a gray zone since I moved what a f##king joke they are

On 10/03/2015 $511.26 were taken from my account. It was my grocery $$ & bill $. Now I have to go to the food pantry. tv pop up ads & tv station logos on screen
I am blaming my tv service provider, Direct TV. I am paying a pretty penny for the channels I watch and now I have to see ads while the show is on. The digital logos disappear during commercials. For example on Sun, 10/4/15 I was watching Stonehenge Decoded on the National Geographic channel. There were 2 areas with the digital advertising/logo on the screen during the entire show. The top right had the name of an upcoming series which changed near the end of the program. Example: "THE BIGFOOT GENE PREMERES TOMORROW 9/8C (displayed on 3 lines). The bottom right has the square logo and underneath natgeotv.com. These display over the top of faces and things I want to see. Enough already. The logos and digital advertising keep getting larger and now stay on the screen during the entire program, except commercials. This intrusion needs to stop.

I was offered a special on the NFL channels and the movie channels for 3 months. I agreed but then in the following weeks we sold our house in AZ and I wanted to disconnect the tv service. Direct TV said that I renewed my contract with them with the NFL special so I have to pay for a years service to disconnect now. I was never told that it was for a year because I knew I did not want another contract with Direct TV. So they are charging me $220 early disconnection fees on top of my last bill.
overcharging
I recently discovered I have been paying for two additional boxes for the past 14 months. I sadly never scrutinized the bill. Upon discovering the error I contacted Direct TV who informed me it is my responsibility to check the bill. They gave me a small credit for 12 months on only one of the boxes. In researching it seems this practice has been going on for at least the past 6 1/2 years. They are very sneaky. Upon upgrading to the genie we should have removed the boxes the genie replaced. You would think that would be Direct TV's responsibility not mine. They do nothing to reward their long time customers and this is just another example of the customer really isn't that important to them. I shudder to think how much money they have made over people like me.
refund
I stop my direct TV service in July. I had a refund coming and they sent it to me on a Citibank card. I activated the card, but when I tried to use it would not accept my pin code. I have contacted direct TV and requested a refund check instead. I kept going up the chain of command until finally I said her is my number have someone call me who can authorize this to happen. They told me to contact Citibank, but I don't feel it is my responsibility to do this since it was not my idea to put my refund on a card instead of sending me a refund check
doesnt work with iphone or ipad
I switched to direct tv because of nflsunday ticket max. I wanted to be able to stream games on my new iphone or ipad. Unfortunately after investing over 8 hrs of my time jumping through their hoops trying to resolve their problem they gave up and offered me three months of movie channel service which i opted not to take. I asked for a supervisor and was lied to that i was being transfered to a supervisor but was really just sent back to the same automated phone directing line. They also lied about offering any compensation for not being able to fix the problem but later offered the movie channel package after i told them that the rep i spoke to the night before was the one that suggested that too me that they would compensate me for their problem.

I was thinking about changing from cable to D-TV Choice package for 29.95 a month for the first year of a two year contract. I wanted to know how much I would be paying after the first year and was told that he couldn't tell me how much the rates would be after the first year and was told that the rates will depend on what my credit rating was. I told them that I had good credit and that it was a bit discriminating that consumers pay different rates depending on credit scores. I had D-TV for four years prior to relocating and never had this problem finding out prices for different packages. Beware because they will also run a credit check as you speak to them. I guess they can get info from caller ID.

On May 9th I spoke with a direct tv representative to indicate that I was moving from 161 California Ave Marion NC 28752 and was not sure I would be able to have satellite as I was looking for a condo to buy. I did know I was moving on May 18th 2015 (which I did) and requested service be discountinued that day. I am not sure but I think I was transferred to a different department to schedule the turn off. Or maybe it was another day. I distinctly remember asking what to do with my equipment should I need to return it. I was told to take it with me and if I was unable to continue service I would be instructed on how to return it.
I do admit that I did not call to receive instructions on returning the equipment. I did receive that information today.
I am requesting a credit adjustment from May 19th as I was not using the service.

I received a bill for $187.17 my Account # [protected] for movies Sept. 2014, April 2013, 01/2015, 01/2015, 012015, 01/2015 there is no way we would order movies like this.
During this time Oct. 2013 my husband were in and out of the hospital for two years suffering from lung and liver cancer. This was a very difficult time for us. On July 2, 2015 my husband died.
The only moves we order was a Mayweather Fight I think April 2015 and we paid for it. My husband pride himself on paying his bills on time and we have been a faithful customer since 2011 he always paid his bills.
I am asking to forgive him of this debt so that my husband name will be clear. I will be more than happy to send a Death Certificate, Please clear my husband name.

how to at least get back unauthorized direct tv early termination charges
I had to cancel my Direct TV early due to a divorce. I wasnt even at the home when it was installed honestly. But about a month after the early cancellation they made unauthorized charges on my bank acct for $488. I was so pissed. My bank told me to wait till it posted as it was a Saturday and only pending and then do a charge back but being that Direct TV will always come back with the "you signed a contract and couldnt start service with us without it even though i didnt sign it i wasnt home and they always do a verbal agreement by phone too which included early termination and they always take your debit or cc card information before starting service. Sneaky. Also if you pay with a debit or cc they store it on file. I knew fighting it with Bank Of America would result in the charges being put back on my account eventually as being correct so I had to fight it. I researched and found this alternate number to call [protected]. Best thing I did in my case.
I explained that I was getting divorced and had to cancel early. Where I moved I didnt need Direct TV as my family had cable already. So the nice customer service rep put my account in suspension mode for 6 months and gave me back as much money as they could. Because I did leave with a balance they took it out and are sending me the rest back within 3 to 7 business days to my card. I can and will have the service restored when I move into my own place later. It at least will recover most of my money. I will get a new debit card after i get my money back. Hope it helps. They can suspend service to help put off fees so try it before cancelling. At least it buys time.

Got a flier from sam's club if switch to direct tv you get a 200. 00 sam's gift card. So i called the number on the flier to switch. Now 6 moths later and several phone calls to direct tv still no gift card and now i'm being told that the phone number on the flier was the wrong number. So i get no gift card.
Got an email from this complaint board the same day I filled this complaint that someone from Sam's would contact me in a couple days it's been 17 days and still waiting that tells me Sam's club don't really care about there customers!
