What went right, would be the better question
What went right, would be the better question. I reached out to Dumbo and once you do this, you're immediately harassed daily by phone and email to try to close you as a customer. I was ignoring daily calls, which should have been my first red flag. A key sticking point for me was having someone come out and do an estimate because I wanted to avoid any 'surprises' day of. They refused and cited COVID, which seemed okay, so as I was in a rush, I moved on. But I emailed over and over confirming the rates, number of people and what we had been quoted for as far as packing and moving. Cut to day of. The three packers who came said we had not quoted for wardrobe boxes, so they could not pack our closets. Who makes an estimate for a three bedroom apartment without considering their closets?! They on the spot upcharged us and we felt forced into paying the fee (almost $1K over the quote) so we could get packed. They then slowly packed our belongings, leaving full rooms not packed the day before the move. I ended up having to pack them myself. Next day, day of the move, they arrived at 8 AM and didn't get to our new place, a mere 30 minutes away, until so late in the day that I was texting over and over trying to get an ETA. Our sales person finally texted me and said 3:30 PM; they arrived at 4:32 PM. Multiple items didn't get put back together because they were so late. When you're paying so much for a move, you really expect a lot more. I shared my feedback with our sales manager who said "no one could have predicted" we would need wardrobe boxes (?!) Just absolutely awful experience. When we went back to our old apartment, the movers had left empty cans of red bull and tape all over the apartment - on the floor. NEVER USE THEM.
You should never use this company
You should never use this company. I have used Dumbo for my last 3 moves over the last 7 years and each use has shown severe deterioration in the quality of their moving and customer service. The most recent experience in April 2022 has been extremely disappointing. Not only did Dumbo cause significant damage to my buildings floorboards but they also damaged the hallways in the building we just moved into. The damages to the floorboards are more than $2,900 and the damages to the hallway put the damage *** from using these guys well into the multi-thousand dollar range. (And guess what - they will not cover a cent of it, so any damage from using this company will come directly out of your pocket, despite COIs for both buildings, insurance and irrefutable evidence proving Dumbos recklessness). When I used them in *** each time using Dumbo the movers are very aggressive and demand excessive tips throughout the move, despite being late every time, taking ~2x longer than the allotted time to move in and out of respective buildings and causing significant damage to your belongings and property. Most of all I have found the militaristic style of Dumbos customer service and claims process to be very disappointing and offensive. Despite irrefutable evidence from security camera footage before the move and photographs after the move showing the $2,900 in damages Dumbo will never admit their mistakes. Dumbo Moving are dishonest and do not treat their customers with any respect at all and fight and argue with them to the death. All staff would benefit from proper customer service training and investment.I will never recommend Dumbo Moving to anyone and will never use their services again. Avoid this company like the plague.

Dumbo Moving & Storage provided me with outstanding service, and their movers were consummate professionals. Because of how fast and well they worked, I had very little to do. All of the service I've received has been excellent.
I just wanted to say thanks again for the wonderful help you and your staff gave my wife and me back on December 10th. Absolutely, I will be promoting your services to others right away.
Paying superbly close focus on every single one of your clients. In light of their consistent, high-quality service, we have no hesitation in recommending them!
I was impressed by the professionalism and competence of everyone I encountered. They executed the task efficiently and finished it quite quickly.
Horrible company that destroyed our valuable furniture and refused to apologize or take meaningful responsibility
Horrible company that destroyed our valuable furniture and refused to apologize or take meaningful responsibility. My move occurred on Saturday, September 26. My girlfriend booked the move under her name as she had previously used this company but it contained both of our things. The move had started off rocky because the movers had left the truck with the back fully open (and our belongings totally unsecured) in the alleyway of a public street, for a significant period of time. The movers began to unload our valuable dresser, which was packed by DUMBO moving and is very heavy (approximately 500 or 600 pounds). The movers placed it on a dolly and started to let down the truck's lift without securing this item properly. It fell to the ground from some height, destroying it. Considering that DUMBO Moving has previously packed this item, placed it in storage, and the two movers doing my move had picked up this item from the warehouse the night before the move on September 25, it was known to the company and these two movers specifically how heavy this item was and how to properly handle it. We have obtained security footage from my building showing this. You can see it here: *** -- the item was allowed to simply fall off the lift and shatter on the ground. I spoke to another moving company and was told that an item as heavy as this should never be put on a dolly before putting it on the truck's lift--as it will fall just like what happened here. The dresser was in perfect condition before the move, DUMBO moving came back and offered us pennies on the dollar for it, despite the video evidence of their negligence. I was extremely disappointed in the service I received during this move. Do yourself a favor and use better movers that act professionally and take responsibility for their mistakes.
Your people were amazing and nice. Way better than the previous company we used. This is the first time we have moved without having issues.
Great service. Excellent communication, prompt and professional. We did not have an easy move, and these guys worked hard all day to make it happen.
Just a sincere and solid note of gratitude for making the transition we were so worried about go so smoothly.
Run the other direction and pay the difference for professional movers!
Run the other direction and pay the difference for professional movers! We used DUMBO back in May and it took a while to write this review because the situation below was so stressful. We specifically asked for a 7AM sharp start time via email and the crew arrived at 8:52 a.m. It was only three crew members for a 3 bedroom, 2 stop pick up move and the first of 2 stops took 3.5 hours to complete as the movers took multiple smoke breaks, including smoking all over our furniture, and sat in our furniture in the middle of the street. A light in our lobby was shattered. The building we are moving into requires that we begin moving in by 1PM and end by 4PM. When I called at 10:30 a.m. to discuss this with Dumbo moving I was dismissed despite this stipulation being written in my lease. It took three phone calls for someone to take me seriously. Even when we told the movers directly about this, they disappeared for 45 minutes without letting us know they were taking a lunch break. We ended up moving most of our stuff ourselves (like alongside the 3 crew members, from truck to service elevator to apartment and I had the bruises afterward to prove it!). And the cherry on top of an awful experience was that my roommate was called "less than human" and yelled at because our tip wasn't generous enough after all of this above. There is a lot more I included in here, like how we disassembled our own furniture, sexist undertones but I think you get the gist. If Dumbo was not equipped to carry out this move, they could have declined it. The unprofessionalism of the crew and support staff at Dumbo ruined our move and made the following weeks stressful. It took me a while to write this for those reasons but buyer beware. There are many more companies out there that are more professional and capable and I strongly urge for you to look for them.
Dumbo is an outstanding company who knows their way around a move out of a high-rise complex. True we followed their tips beforehand in order to facilitate things but the move itself was as smooth as silk and that can only be credited to them.
The moving crew was friendly and professional. They came on time and worked professionally and hard. I'm happy they were referred to me, and I would choose them for next time!
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. This company was recommended to me by the building I was moving out of. The set up process was rather easy but upon moving day the movers were rude, did not speak English and kept charging us extra fees for simple tasks. They offered to do these tasks on the side to avoid extra paper work and were allegedly cheaper than going through the company. (red flag #1) They were very rough with my items and when I calmly and nicely asked for them to be more careful they smirked in our faces and brushed it off. For example, they taped all of the wood pieces of my bed together. After questioning if it would ruin the wood when the tape was removed, they said "no no of course not", and now the wood is ruined. (red flag #2) The same goes for my beautiful glass lampshade which is now in pieces.Despite all this, we gave them a nice 20% tip. They frowned in our faces and stomped off. (red flag #3) They were completely unprofessional, not grateful and extremely demeaning to women. This last part I cannot stress enough. They made us feel extremely uncomfortable and belittled. To be honest, I can let all of that go. Not a pleasant experience but is moving ever really pleasant? What I cannot let go is the fact that all of my items were placed into a storage unit and now upon removing the items we have noticed my flat screen 55" tv and glass round table top are gone. My assumption is they broke the glass table top during transit and THEY STOLE MY TV. Knowing I was moving my belongings into storage and would not notice the missing items right away, they took advantage of the situation. (red flag #4)Absolutely 100% unprofessional, slimy parasites parading around as professional movers.I reached out to management and they would only speak with me via email and offered me a measly $300 to keep me quiet. It was very clearly a common occurrence among their staff. Shut. Them. Down.

I used Dumbo in July and had a positive experience so, I naturally reached out to them when I had to transfer apartments this year (October 2022). This move wasn't positive unfortunately. My recent move itself went smoothly for the most part, the two movers they sent worked quickly and mostly followed instructions. I even gifted one of them one of my original paintings that I do as a hobby. When the move was over, (which took 2 hours and about 35 minutes) I gave each of the movers a $20 bill for a total of $40 as a tip. (I googled the amount that movers for a short move should receive and it said $4-$5 per mover per hour or $20 per mover for 4 hours or less.) At the end of the move I handed one $20 bills to each mover. ($40 total). They accepted the tip but then the mover whom I gifted the painting to told me that the "expectation" is a 20% tip for each job, so based on the price of my move, my tip was "supposed" to be $100, he asked if I had *** to forward the "balance" of $60 to them. I initially said yes I had *** and I would send a bit more. My initial intention was to send an additional amount on *** as soon as my wifi was set up later that day or the next day. A few hours later, as I was unpacking etc..I received a phone call from the mover asking where the additional tip was. I was annoyed but told him I'd send it later. About two hours later, I received an emailed invoice saying I owed a $60 balance. I immediately called and spoke to a person named *** who said it was my "balance" for the suggested tip. I told her "suggested" is not synonymous with "mandatory" and that I was being strong-armed. I called back the next day to request a $0 balance invoice to be sent out so it was clear for records that I didn't owe. Someone named *** answered and told me "This is not ***, this is America you need to pay tips". I happen to be an *** immigrant so I took major offense to the ignorant comment and behavior. I will NEVER use them again.
A Complete Nightmare
A Complete Nightmare. I was referred to Dumbo Moving by a Friend who used them for her recent move to . I am relocating there myself, so I decided to use them. Biggest mistake. These ppl were sketchy from the beginning, they moved her from *** to *** for $890 and quoted me originally $1500 from *** to . I declined and *** kept being consistent in lowering the price, I felt they wanted my business so I said okay to a new price of $1235. Sales rep was pressing me to pay the full amount by a certain time to assure service in the window I needed to move by, she never stated just a deposit and balance due when things are delivered. I learned later from my friend that that is how it was suppose to go I wasnt suppose to pay in full, I wasnt aware of this. This was my first BIG MOVE. They were suppose to move 20 *** 2 beds and my TVs. When they arrived at my storage unit I wasnt present I trust them to get what was listed and send me proof. What they did was call me and say it was a full unit and to take everything would be an additional $2947.10, I do not even own furniture so I wasnt sure where they got this price from. Instead they took items, never sent proof or a list. When I returned to my unit the next day, everything I needed was still in my unit. When I called the company they were so rude, there was no empathy at all. *** and her manager kept trying to tell me I needed to pay more money for everything to be picked up, there was no proof of what was even taken in the first place. I literally had a full blown panic attack. These ppl didnt care, they were screaming at me and telling me I needed to pay more but had no idea what I paid them for in the first place. Their manager *** called me the next day told me he could return my items but I would only be refunded $100 because they picked my stuff up and placed it in storage it would cost $1135. I had to lose $400 on my flights, and had to push out moving date because of this.

This was the WORST moving experience of my entire life, if I could give 0 stars I would
This was the WORST moving experience of my entire life, if I could give 0 stars I would. I rarely ever post reviews, and usually only if I have a good experience. But after this horrible horrible experience, I had to post something. I have used DUMBO moving multiple times and each time it was a good experience which is why I used them for this very large move (two stops and packing of our 2 bedroom apartment and then final stop at our new home). First of all, they showed up at 11am at the first stop (hours late from the 7-9am window) they then did not show up to the second stop until 2pm, then took a one hour break and did not start to pack our items until 3pm. They then asked if they could do one half of them move today and the other half tomorrow because otherwise it would take too long (what! how can you spring that one someone at the end of the day when you have to move out of the rental apartment and give back the keys the next day!). We said no we cannot do that so my family helped with the packing that we had paid for so we can get things done faster. We finished packing approximately between 8-9pm. They did not show up at my new home which is 15 minutes away until 2am! When they showed up at 2am they did not actually move anything in until 3am, I stood there with my front door open for an hour wondering where they were. Then the whole time they complained that there were stairs (I paid a stair fee) and that the furniture was SO heavy. They were so slow that they did not finish unloading everything until 11am the next day! Every time we would go check on them we would see them taking smoke breaks or they would just disappear for an hour or so at a time. So my family and I were awake all night trying to move and we all had work responsibilities the next day we had to cancel! We were just moving out of 2 bedroom apartment, it was not like we had a whole house of stuff. I did not even have them put all the boxes where they needed to go, the boxes were just all placed in the living room to make things faster. Additionally, all the furniture he claimed to have packed so nicely has scuffs and chips on it. Also, I looked at my son's crib they were supposed to have put together and all the screws were loose, luckily I noticed and tightened them before we put him in there. I called the company to complain and they promised a $500 refund on May 28, guess what it is June 17, still no refund. This was just a HORRENDOUS experience and I am so disappointed to be treated this way after I used this company 3 times prior. I would have appreciated a partial refund or even the $500 that was promised and even that did not happen, so ridiculous.
Horrible experience with this moving company, avoid using them at all costs!
Horrible experience with this moving company, avoid using them at all costs! I used the tools on Dumbo's website and conversations with their sales reps (identifying all furniture and items I needed to move) to determine the truck size I needed. The movers initially appeared to be doing a good job, but after 90 minutes the head of the crew came up to me and said "the truck is full, we can't fit anything else, we are leaving now." They had given no prior indication there was any issue fitting my things into the truck and, in fact, hadn't said a word to me other than a brief good morning when they first arrived. At that time, they had not loaded my bookshelf, 2 desks, 2 office chairs, my rug, half of my bed, and various other essential items (all of which they knew about ahead of time). Instead, they filled the truck with lighter boxes and items I could have, and would have, moved by myself if I knew about the space issue. Additionally, they filled the truck with two cheap bulky pieces of furniture I would have (and have since) thrown away if I knew about the space issue. However, because of their complete lack of communication, these items were unreachable in the back of the truck by the time they mentioned any issues fitting things in the truck. Further complicating this mess, when I arrived at my new apartment, the movers were not being careful with my belongings. As a result, multiple boxes were partially crushed (fortunately nothing essential was broken). When I called Dumbo to resolve these issues and get the rest of my things moved, their initial offer was to charge me an additional amount that was nearly triple what I paid for the first truck. Although I believe this disaster was entirely Dumbo's fault, I needed them to move the remainder of my belongings, so I eventually agreed to pay for a second moving truck at the same price that I paid for the first truck (doubling the total cost of the move). At the end of all this, I still tipped both sets of movers (the first set of movers via card prior to the move/issues; and the second set of movers in cash because this really wasn't their fault and they did a good job). Despite all these issues and tipping both sets of movers, Dumbo had the gall to send me an e-mail and to call my significant other two weeks after the move essentially demanding that we tip their movers more money. My overall experience with this company was absolutely horrendous, but it was this subsequent demand for more money via a borderline harassing phone call that really set me over the edge and made me feel like I needed to share my experience. In my opinion, this e-mail and phone call was an abusive use of my private information and was way over the line.
We had both good and bad experiences with this company
We had both good and bad experiences with this company. The delivery of our belongings was great, the pickup and logistics not so great. Prior to pickup, we gave the staff an inventory list. When we received our updated quote, various items had been added to our inventory that we did not have, doubling our price. This was then rectified but is very sneaky of them. When arranging the arrival window, we gave the office staff the exact times we had access to our elevator. On the day, the movers were late, which is to be expected. No movers have ever arrived on time. The first thing the movers did when they arrived (late) was demand a 10% tip up front. This was a bad first impression. Firstly, you do not demand tips, secondly, for long distance moving, you do not pay a percentage tip, but a flat fee. Thirdly, a tip is only required once we are happy they have done a good job. The moving guys packed up our apartment fairly quickly, although did not always wear masks. We gave them a very generous tip and an additional gift afterwards, also offered them refreshments as they worked. After they left, the moving guys phoned their office to tell them their tip was not satisfactory to them, because they were demanding a $250 tip for 1 hour work. The office staff then called me repeatedly and harassed me, demanding a 20% tip, which is around $500. Their office staff will claim a 20% tip is mandatory, even though the moving guys only demanded 10%. They then said I should pay them the full $500 tip because they did us a "favor" by getting the moving guys out within the arrival window they had agreed to. They called and called and called and would not leave us alone, telling us we need to pay the remaining tip. We refused, mainly due to the demands and the rudeness of their office staff. I informed them there will be an additional tip added when we receive our belongings. The second part was much better. Our stuff arrived across the country much faster than I expected and the driver, Kenan, was great. He was a really nice guy and very respectful, always wearing a mask and not demanding tips from us. We were happy to tip him generously for his work, although he did not require us to do so. Overall, the price we paid was very competitive, and the delivery was good, but the attitudes of the staff let them down. Calling and demanding gratuity is not acceptable under any circumstance. Claiming it is written in the contract that a 20% is mandatory is just lies. What is written are the words "tip not included". If it weren't for the great delivery driver, this company would be getting zero stars and I would be filing a formal complaint. Points to look out for if you use this company: If you are happy to pay 20% on top of the thousands of dollars for your move, or are happy to argue with them/be harassed by them when you refuse, then use this company. Double and triple check your inventory list from them, they will try to add in extra items to get more money. Do not expect them to turn up on time, allow an extra 2 hours for late arrival.
With summer time approaching I am sure many people out there are starting to look for moving companies
With summer time approaching I am sure many people out there are starting to look for moving companies. There are endless options, do yourself a favor and DONT USE DUMBO for any reason. PLEASE do not put yourself in the cross hairs of Dumbo. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. These people have no values, greed is all they know. This company has no shame. The crew that packed our goods was a very nice group, however they refused to wear masks due the heavy exertion they faced with moving. They said they were not mandated by their employer to wear them, a prime example of Dumbo's practices as a business. Once they finished packing it would be almost 5 months until I saw my goods again as Dumbo was paid to store them on a pallet in a climate controlled unit. When they were delivered them they were caked in mold, almost all of my furniture was DESTROYED, almost $20,000 in damage. The crew told me when they showed up to get the goods at the "climate controlled warehouse" they were just sitting on the floor. Clearly they ran out of storage space and tossed my goods wherever they had room. I am an understanding person, I realize the flood of business that resulted in the exodus from the city. Luckily, everything that was destroyed was replaceable. I was reassured by the claims manager, Anthony C, that Dumbo "always does the right thing" in these unique situations. Unfortunately for me I believed him. I was unable to move into my home for several weeks since we had no furniture, Since mold was involved I was instructed by Anthony to dry clean all of my cloths and that I would be reimbursed for this expense, almost $2k. Didnt happen. On moving day the crew crashed the truck into my walkway, I was told to get it fixed and that I would be immediately reimbursed, another $500 out of pocket, Guess what didnt happen? The next 3.5 months were utter *** with being bounced from Anthony to their insurance broker to their insurance agency and back to good old Anthony. We had an accepted settlement, which was broken within the hour despite having written confirmation. Then I was offer a few hundred dollars on a $20k claim. I was told they paid the wrong claim, then I was told they didnt have any money to pay my claim (which was the most comical response of all time), then I was told the insurance company would pay me. Round and round we went. They REFUSED to take responsibility and pay my claim. Mistakes happen, but Dumbo will not own up to them. They do not care about their customers, they know they can treat people this way because consumers have limited ways to fight back. They say this was a "one time thing" and move on. It is shocking to me that people like this exist in the world. NOTE, if you end up filing an insurance claim I would do the exact opposite of anything they ask you to do. The broker consistently pretended to be empathize with me and constantly bashed their own client as a way to gain my trust. Their insurance broker then intentionally mislead me a number of times, including advising me to not reply to offers to settle being made by Dumbo and that all offers needed to be made by the insurance company. The broker is shady and morally corrupt.

I hired Dumbo moving and paid $1495.00 for moving service to a storage unit, the move was scheduled for 04/28/22 between 1-4pm. Unfortunately, the drivers did not deliver my belongings to the agreed-upon address, leaving them outside a garage instead. This breach of contract, coupled with their 5-hour delay, has led to unexpected expenses and potential loss or damage to my items. I've repeatedly contacted the company without resolution. Yesterday, I spoke with Mat Pekan, a manager, who was rude and unhelpful. Another attempt to communicate today resulted in unfulfilled promises, leaving my belongings at risk. Reference number omitted.

I contacted DUMBO Moving and Storage at the end of June 2022 to help move my stuff from my previous apartment to my new apartment. There was a few weeks gap between my move-out date and my move-in date so I left my items with DUMBO in their storage unit. When I moved into my apartment in July 2022, the movers moved my stuff in. What ended up happening is the *** screen was completely cracked and on top of this, the moving company lost two large tables that are about 25lbs each, meaning that it is fairly hard to lose.I've contacted DUMBO moving and storage since and have provided proper documentation and information for the items that had lost during the move. They have been completely unhelpful in trying to resolve this issue, offering only $40 for items whose current value is close to $1,000. I am asking for compensation close to the total value of the items.
I was given three different moving quotes and they never came to the house to see how much property was being moved long distance. The movers came and requested I give them a tip before they even finished the job. It took more than two weeks for my belongings to arrive down south and immediately I noticed that my buckets were broken up and my 75 tv was missing. The mover also stated that if my tv is missing than more than likely other stuff is too and that its happened to him before. I contacted the moving company asap and they only offered me $150 saying that I had no insurance.
I reached out to the business at least 3 times over the course of the last 2 weeks, post move
I reached out to the business at least 3 times over the course of the last 2 weeks, post move. Immediately after the move, we noticed that several things were off. The couch was not put together properly. As soon as we sat down on the right side of the couch, the entire thing wobbles as if the right arm part was not attached properly. We were also missing the hook to a hanging chair. My air fryer which was fully functional 2 days prior to the move was no longer working. We also had a side table that had caps to cover the leg attachments. One of the cap covers was also missing so now there's just a hole there. I emailed them several times asking for someone to reach out to help however, it seems that now that they've received our business and money, they are just ignoring us. Anything would be helpful at this point considering the move itself cost over $3400 and their movers tried haggling us for a 20% gratuity, even though a number of things went wrong and now no one is able to help. (Recap of issues: the cap to the tiered stand went missing, the hook for my hanging chair went missing, the couch is broken or improperly assembled, and my air fryer is now broken).

I moved out of my old house late March this year. When they delivered my boxes and furniture in my new home, most of it was damaged or broken, and not just slightly. On top of this, the movers, particularly on the pickup day, heavily insisted that I had to tip them 20% of the total move cost in cash. I also tipped the movers who delivered when I found out afterwards that a 17% gratuity was already included. I reached out to them as I have a lot of pictures of all the damaged items and the extortion that happened to me, and they are only offering me $700 for the damages and are completely ignoring the fact that I was extorted by their own employees.
Dumbo movers dropped my stackable washer and dryer which I bought April *** $530 for an $1800 machine

When I did receive my vehicle they were supposed to ship I filed a complaint. Since I've received my vehicle I cancelled it. They were on 3-way with my bank for them to confirm Dumbo will receive their refund within 30 days. Dumbo wants that information emailed. The bank doesn't do emails cause they aren't secure in this case. I will have a confirmation letter in the mail indicating that this has been closed out.So Dumbo is holding my apartment cause they don't have their funds for the vehicle contract. They are demanding I pay them the same balance to receive my apartment until the bank clears their funds from cancelling the claim. Which is illegal, they aren't abiding by their contractual terms as the car shipment payment was separate from the apartment move payment. They are demanding I pay under the table by bank check, cash or Cashapp. As these payments were separate, one cannot be used as leverage for the other. My reason for bringing this to Complaintsboard.com is to inform Dumbo that due to this being handled inaccurately given this scenario, by law they still have to provide my service guaranteeing me my apartment belongings once payment has successfully refunded into their account, or further lawful action can and will be taken.

I am writing because I think you should know that Dumbo Moving is portraying itself as an A+ Complaintsboard.com *** on its website (screenshots of both their desktop site and mobile site are attached). The claim that they have an A+ rating is false. They have a B+ rating.I hired Dumbo Moving and am incredibly dissatisfied with the services I received. I don't know that I would have hired this horrible company if I knew they were lying about their Complaintsboard.com rating. Companies should not be able to lie about their rating in this way. Using an "A+" logo when the company has a B+ rating is very deceptive. It is not acceptable that Dumbo Moving is able to lie to every single person that visits their website by claiming they are an A+ Complaintsboard.com company. This rating is absolutely false and I thought you should know that they are using your name and logo in this way.
I had Dumbo moving and storage move my belongs from my storage unit to my house my belongs we separated into two groups one to take to my house and one to be discarded I watched as the separated my belongs however because they did not pay attention as to where one group ended and the other began I am missing some of the belongings it took a while for me to unpack my things the move was on March 23, it didnt realize it admittedly and now I do it was mostly pictures and other memories they also quoted me a price I told them it was in two parts when they got to my house I got a telephone call saying that Couldnt cover the disposal they never would say that and I would have to add another $450.00 I bargained therm down to $460.00 dollars and they would pay the tip to the men by the way all during the move the only one of the three men could speak English kept saying where is our tip that all they were paying attention to not moving my belongs
they were hired to move a dresser and a mini fridge from one room to another room but upstairs, they were supposed to be there on 5/31/22 the called and said they were running behind and called again saying they would be there in 40 minutes then they called again saying can the come tomorrow. on so the come the next day well, they showed up it took exactly 17 minutes for $495.00 ,$40 administrative fee and 20% tip, i really think i was taken advantage of and if look ant the paper work if was for 2 hours but when i called they told me there rate was 110 an hour. and they had a ad that says 250 for 2 movers 2 hours . i feel they really took advantage of me they were only there 17 minutes
On 3/** we had Dumbo Moving Company help my roommate and I move
On 3/*** we had Dumbo Moving Company help my roommate and I move. They had initially quoted us $720 for the move that we had to pay before the day of the move. This was fully paid several days before our move with a quote of all of our belongings. After moving 80% of our stuff onto their truck, they called us to say we owed an additional $540 for a few additional garbage bags and a very small end table. In the initial quote, we were promised wardrobe boxes for our hanging clothes, those were not included so we had to then put all of our hanging items into garbage bags to move them, it was not our intention to have a few extra bags. We were told if we did not pay the $560 immediately, they would not continue moving us as most of our belongings including our couch, beds, dressers, etc were on their truck. We were completely taken advantage of and were held in a hostile situation with our own stuff. Additionally, $200 less then our initial quote with all of our furniture is very excessive for a few extra garbage bags. This was a very uncomfortable situation and this is not how a company should treat its customers to scam them out of money especially since we had to move by ourselves without any help in the middle of this pandemic.

We had hired Dumbo to move our boxes and furniture from our old apartment to our current one
We had hired Dumbo to move our boxes and furniture from our old apartment to our current one. We requested their service to disassemble and assemble the beds. All of the furniture, which is about only a year old, has been damaged. Dumbo did not properly take the necessary precautions to prevent damage to our furniture. Everything had dents and scratches and one of the beds supports is broken with a large split in the wood. It was then hidden in one of the drawers. We didn't even receive the proper wardrobe boxes that were supposed to come with the service (we received one long box that wasn't suitable for clothes). The movers didn't properly disassemble the bed and were forced to in the hallway into the apartment after realizing it wouldn't fit. They had scratched the floors that our new landlord had just polished right in front of him, which was embarrassing as new tenants. Our landlord then laid out boards for them to safely move everything without damaging the floor further. After reaching out to Dumbo, they did not follow through with their insurance policy after we requested a refund. While their policy says they would cover $00.60 per pound for the furniture, that equated over the amount of the move and they refused to follow through. We could not come to an agreement.

Hello - I used Dumbo moving for my most recent move and extremely disappointed with my service and the response in which the company handled my complaints. I originally was quoted just over 300 to move my things from a storage unit to my new unit. I was reassured that the quote was firm and the time allotted would be correct at that pricing. Once moving day comes the team was 45 minutes late and EXTREMELY RUDE about the tardiness. The price I was reaffirmed at included to hours of moving in which the eyes of the sales person "More than enough time for things that are already packed". The movers slowly moved all of the items one by one not using the proper equipment to extend their time leading to my charges doubling as I was charged $185 than an additional $95 making the move double. In addition to the movers moving slow, i reached out to management about this problem in the middle of the move and was harassed and yelled at by the management to pay the extra amount or their men would stop and leave with my items so i was forced to pay them. Once the movers arrived to my new home, I took it upon myself to gather an additional crew to move the things off the truck myself with the proper equipment if not the movers were in leu to charge me even more for the unload. I'd like a full refund of my move because this had to be once of the worst experiences of my life.

I paid Dumbo Moving $290 to move an antique dresser from Kips Bay in Manhattan to Greenpoint in Brooklyn
I paid Dumbo Moving $290 to move an antique dresser from Kips Bay in Manhattan to Greenpoint in Brooklyn. Upon arrival, the dresser had substantial new damage, including splintering, deep scratches, scrapes, and a drawer smashed in. This is an antique Art Deco solid wood dresser (part of a 4-piece bedroom set from the 1920s) that has been in my family for 40 years. It has been moved across the country and in several shorter-distance moves without damage, even when professional movers were not involved. It was previously in excellent vintage condition, with just a few surface scratches and some discoloration (which is not what I filed my complaint about). I called Dumbo Moving immediately to report the damage and they requested I send some photos of the damage via email. I did so, and followed up with "before" pictures and other item details (below) at their request. They then refused to remedy the situation and said the item was "old" and the damage was not done by the movers, even when the "before" pictures clearly show that this damage was not previously there. I can provide both the "before" and "after" photos I sent to Dumbo Moving if needed. ----- Additional information provided to Dumbo Moving at their request: 1) Article (please include a link if the item is available online): Vintage 1920s Art Deco solid wood 5 drawer dresser (part of a full bedroom set) 2) Present value: estimate $2,500 3) Weight: unknown; estimate ~200 lbs 4) Date acquired: acquired by my family in the 1980s

Professional movers were hired to transport our boxes and furniture from Brooklyn to Manhattan
Professional movers were hired to transport our boxes and furniture from Brooklyn to Manhattan. As soon as the movers arrived, they stated that, as per the contract, 20% of tip from the total cost of moving, should be given to them. On the contract it states that tips are not required, but are recommended. Some items were missed on the contract, and the movers told us to give them an extra $800 in cash and they would do it without confirming with their company. I called the company and was being charged $600 more. They were charging me $100 more to dissemble a bed that was already disassembled. At this point I realized I was being charged for stuff that wasn't being done. I had no other choice but to pay the remaining $500 because my belonging wouldn't be moved otherwise. During moving, they slid our boxes down the stairs and said they would charge us more as one flight of stairs should be 8 steps and we had 12. Upon arriving to my new apartment, the movers wouldn't bring my couch in unless we tipped them more on top of the 20% that they continuously harassed my partner and I for. As a result of all the issues we decided to tip $200, which shouldn't have been the case, instead of the $250. The movers began yelling and causing a scene to the point where my partner and I felt unsafe. I called the office three times to report the issue after the movers left and the phone was hung up after all three times. From the mishandling of our property, a computer screen was broken, a lamp shade as well, and our TV stand resulted damaged.

I contacted this company to help us relocate to another state
I contacted this company to help us move in July . I received a quote of $4,680 based on our 4-bedroom house, basement, and garage. Shortly before moving, we submitted an inventory, including a treadmill, Peloton, and exercise machine. We were then charged an extra fee for handling and assembly due to the need to dismantle the Peloton screen. On moving day, the movers realized not everything would fit in the truck. The company promised an additional truck at no extra cost, but the exercise equipment was left behind despite having paid for its move. The next day, the company reneged on the free extra truck. After much discussion, they offered a partial refund but required payment for the new truck. The refund never materialized. They insisted on additional payment for the move. The second team of movers couldn't disassemble the machines and only moved the Peloton. Left with no choice, we moved the remaining items ourselves and had to give away the treadmill and exercise machine. We paid the initial estimate, the extra fee for the exercise equipment, and for the second truck, which didn't complete the move, totaling a significant sum.

I am writing to complain that my property was damaged in excess of $5,000.00 Dumbo Moving and Storage Company on November 29 when they moved my furniture into my *** apartment. The damage occurred in the *** apartment and I saw the movers drag, drop and smash my walls in the *** apartment I am also disputing the charge to my credit card due to the damage sustained to my property caused by Dumbo on November 29 which is in the amount of $1,345.00. The has only offered to pay me $350.00 for my damage. Dumbo is relying on a provision in their adhesion contract that they will only reimburse the damage at a rate .60 per pound, which I believe is unlawful. The burden to carry insurance is not on the home owner, but on the moving company who promised to provide a service to move my property is a safe and *** like manner. Dumbo assertions that I was responsible to carry insurance for their moving service is disingenuous. If Dumbo is allowed to assert this argument, that means they are allowed to hold themselves out as professional movers, break and damage my property and that they are not responsible to reimburse me for the damage because the burden is on me to carry insurance, in the event they are negligent. Who ever heard of such nonsense. How is this fair? With this provision in their contract, Dumbo enables itself to mishandle and damage property with impunity. Why would I buy insurance when Dumbo is responsible for a service for which it was hired, just like anyone else who provides a service. Dumbo is responsible for carrying insurance, not me. I do not see how I am responsible to carry insurance when I paid them for a service. This is a complete scam. Also, Dumbos claim in their adhesion contract that they will pay me .60 lbs for my damaged property is nonsense. I did not understand what this meant. How can I weigh my furniture? On what scale could I possibly weigh a dining room table, coffee table and office chair?

Issue with Moving Company Damaging Property
My tenant, who recently hired Dumbo Moving & Storage company to move out of my rental property, experienced an unfortunate incident on 8/29. During the move, the Dumbo Moving truck damaged my property by ripping down phone/cable wires and a piece of the house siding. The telephone connection box was also damaged. A neighbor witnessed the truck causing the damage and a police report was filed for safety concerns. My husband and I reported the incident to the moving company on 9/7. We provided the tenant's email address to forward a claim form. Despite follow-ups, we struggled with unresponsive customer service and staff changes. The claims department requested a picture of the truck, which I did not have, but I submitted a police report, photos of the damage, and a $200 repair invoice. I am seeking reimbursement for the repair costs due to the negligence of the moving company.

I had a move on 8/16/22 with Dumbo Moving, which involved unethical practices
I had a move on 8/16/22 with Dumbo Moving. The practices of the company were completely unethical. Dumbo Moving decided to take advantage of me while I was in a position where I could not opt for anything other than their services. I spent a total of $1500 for a move initially quoted for $525. My movers arrived and claimed my items from my one bedroom apartment would not fit in an 18ft truck. Prior to booking, I provided a list of my items to the company and spoke with a representative detailing my items and the number of boxes I had. No one suggested that I order a larger truck. If anything, the representative suggested I rent a van but I knew my items would not fit in a van and instead chose a truck which he said would be large enough. An 18ft truck should accommodate a one bedroom easily. The movers arrived and told me that there would be a long carry fee of $200 because they had to utilize the service entrance through the basement. This is standard practice. They kept asking if they could use the front or side door which was not permitted. Using the service entrance in a co-op was my only option. The movers arrived at 9:30am and did not start loading my things as they claimed I owed them an additional $975 for the long carry fee plus booking a second last minute move since they said my items would not fit in one trip. From start to finish my move took nearly 8hrs, this is absurd 9:30am-5:20pm. The company was dishonest and took advantage of me because they could. The company forced my hand to purchase an additional last minute move and forced me to pay a surprise fee. There were also threats made to hold my items hostage in the truck if I failed to pay the fees prior to me even agreeing to book them for the second trip. I would like a refund of the $975. The additional $975 was the result of preying on me when I was not in a position to call another company for a last minute move the same day. I have reached out to the company and they have been unresponsive.

On May 25, I paid Dumbo moving company $650.00 for a bedroom set move and assembly.
On May 25, I paid Dumbo moving company $650.00 to relocate a bedroom set to my condo. The set was to be disassembled, packed, and reassembled upon delivery. The driver demanded a 20% tip from the seller, which was not in our agreement. I clarified to the seller that a tip was not necessary and contacted the company to enforce the contract terms. Despite this, the driver only delivered the bed frame and refused further assembly without a tip. My building manager, acting on my behalf, was left to handle the situation. The contract stated full service was included, but the driver left the set in the parking garage. I incurred an extra $350 to hire a handyman for the assembly.

Dear ComplaintsBoard.com,I am filing a complaint today against Dumbo Moving Company, BK **
Dear complaintsboard.com,I am filing a complaint today against Dumbo Moving Company, BK . I hired them for a move on 6/29 to move from my 1 bedroom apartment in LIC to a 1 bedroom apartment in ***. Prior to the move I spoke with their sales rep *** listing all of my items. I went through my entire apartment in its entirety measuring each piece of furniture from a small night stand to my L shaped couch. After a thorough conversation, *** informed me that they will send an appropriate moving truck to accommodate all of my belongings. They required a payment on my credit card the day before. The morning of the move, two movers arrived and began to move my things into the truck. After about an hour or two they said that the truck is full. My apartment was still filled with furniture, including my couch, wardrobe dresser, drawer, rugs and patio . I asked them what will happen to the rest of my furniture and they said that I should call their supervisor to see if they can send a second truck for help or have the movers finish the move, come back to collect my other items. I called the supervisor who said that once the truck fills up they are not responsible for the other items. This conversation went on for hours without them providing a resolution. They kept pressuring me to sign a paper saying that the move is complete so they can proceed to the final destination. I did not sign any forms and asked them to release my belongings if they were not going to complete the move and they had the movers drive to my new apartment. I spoke with the supervisor several times and they did not find a resolution. The next day, my partner and I had to take off from work to rent a uhaul and move all of the heavy furniture ourselves. My credit card company cannot come to a resolution since they have a document with a signature stating the move was complete, which was forged by the moving company. They have misspelled my name and squiggled something next to it.

Good day
Good day. I was evicted from my property I previously owned, until 2019. The new owners paid *** dollars to remove my belongings to a Dumbo Moving & Storage, located at ***. To be specific, between 8/13 or 8/14 I contacted the Lawyer who represented the new owner, and was told my belongings were transported to the Storage location. Between the 8/15 and 8/16, I rented a U-haul and went to collect my items. While unpacking the pallets, I realized not all items could be transported that day, due to the fact, they all could not fit in the truck.Literally homeless. Literally, only had a room in *** my toddler and I could sleep. As a result, had to leave the rest of my items in the storage.Subsequently, them comes Covid. I literally lost it as a human being. I had lost my house, then lost few friends and relative close to me. I fell in depression, with struggle, of having somewhere to sleep at nights.I contacted "***" owner of Dumbo Moving &Storage, this year in regards to removing my items. He calculated all charges I'd owed, in addition warned me that he will auction my items, if I didn't remove them. I told him, please give me the ending of November , to obtain help. Also notifying him, the truck from *** to *** will cost at least [protected] dollars. He said, "I'll give you a deal of *** dollars to move out by the ending of November . I agreed. November 19th. I told him please send me your PayPal account name. A friend is offering to pay the *** to three thousand something dollars. Though we'd agreed in documentation that I should pay *** dollars. Now he changed his tune, telling me he can only offer the *** signing a deal, he's not responsible for lost or missing items. I refused the deal and informed him, I can't sign to that. I need to take my belongings out of storage, for the price given to me+ the Month
