This place was in terible condition. The pool area had weeds growing everywhere. There were rats in the grill! And cockroaches inside. The air hockey table did not work none of the tv remotes had batteries. Half the TVs didn't work and when we called to have the inssue fixed they came and didn't fix anything. There was dust everywhere they hadn't dusted in months it looked like. The pool was freezing even though it was supposed to be heated. The beds were terible and the sheets had stains on them. There was black mold on all the vents in the living room and bathrooms. The ice maker in fridge didn't work. The ac window units had dirty filters. And the people were rude and not polite at all. Wont ever use this company again.

We booked the *** property for June 11-June 18 and paid $2,311.36. We had a lot of problems with the property, like the stuff they said about it on their website wasn't true. First, they said there was a hot/cold outside shower, but there wasn't one. Second, they said there was a big yard for kids to play in, but there wasn't a yard at all. Third, they said there was a private balcony in the master bedroom, but it was just a door that led to a shared deck.

On top of all that, the linens and the house were dirty. They didn't even have comforters for two of the beds. And the area under the house, where they had a tiki bar, was a mess. There were dangerous things like wood, screws, metal stakes, and loose lumber lying around. We even saw cockroaches in different parts of the house.

We talked to Emerald Isle Realty in person and through email, and they offered us a $250 gift card or credit. But we don't think that's enough to make up for all the problems we had with the house.

We bought a duplex on Emerald Isle and Emerald Isle Realty was supposed to handle the vacation rentals from April 7 to September 19, as per the agreement. I went to stay at the property during the week of 4/11 and found out that they didn't provide any bedsheets (even though they charged us for it). The place was dirty and messy, with dirty dishes and cabinets. I decided not to use their linen and cleaning services anymore. Then, on 4-29, they ended the agreement on July 8 (later changed to July 3rd). The six invoices we received so far had many mistakes, overcharging us for services we didn't receive or fees that shouldn't be there (ranging from 0.02 cents to hundreds of dollars). Their last day managing the property was July 3rd. Only on July 7th, they finally sent the last payments, which don't match my calculations, and they refused to provide any requested contracts, documents, or proof of discount eligibility.

I rented a house from Emerald Isle Realty from 24 May to 31 May. They made a mistake and double booked the house. I called in March to confirm our rental, but they told me to call back in May. When I called on 18 May to confirm, they said we had a contract and if we cancelled, we would lose our money. We stopped at Walmart on our way from the airport and bought about $350 worth of groceries because Emerald Isle Realty told us to bring our own supplies. The stores in Emerald Isle didn't have much. My wife, parents-in-law, and I arrived on 24 May around 9pm to pick up our keys and directions to the rental house. The lock box door was stuck, so I called the emergency maintenance number. A maintenance person came and put us in touch with ***. She told us that our rental house was already rented out, but she found us another place to stay until Saturday. However, when we got to that place, there were already guests there. Finally, *** found us another place to stay until Saturday, and we moved in around midnight. But then we had to find our own place for the final night on Saturday. On the morning of 25 May, I told the rest of my family about the situation, and they all cancelled their plans to come to Emerald Isle. Then at 2:10pm, *** called and said that the double booking from our original rental was leaving early on Tuesday, so we could go back to our original booking until Sunday. This meant we had to move everything from one place to another, taking up another day of our vacation time.

No working fridge the whole week of our rental. Our fam rented *** (***) from Emerald Isle Realty for August 16-23, 2020. The fridge wasn't workin' when we got there, so we reported it on 8/16. They said they'd bring ice, a cooler, and a mini frig. But that never showed up. Two of us needed meds kept cold. When it still hadn't arrived on 8/17, we contacted 'em again. They said, "oh, it ain't started workin' yet." They said they'd bring ice, a cooler (they brought 1 cooler and 1 bag of ice), and we were told we'd get a fridge that day or the next. We called on 8/18 to check and they said someone would come to look at the fridge, but they wouldn't bring us a new one. Finally, someone showed up Wednesday afternoon after 2:00 and said he just got the email that day askin' him to check the fridge. He opened the freezer door, stuck a screwdriver in the fan compartment, and said it needed a fan motor. On 8/19, when he hadn't brought the part and EIR was ignorin' our request for more ice, we called and they said the part wouldn't be in until Friday and someone might install it on Saturday. They also said they wouldn't give us any more ice. We sent an email about the issue and got an immediate response sayin', "While Emerald Isle Realty takes property integrity very seriously, guests gotta take some risk when rentin' a private residence." When they took our money, they didn't tell us we'd be responsible if an appliance broke, and they didn't give us the homeowner's contact info. We would've contacted the homeowner for sure. We called more than once a day to check on the service request and ask for ice. We think it's fair to expect a workin' fridge durin' our vacation. A service person finally showed up at 3:00 on Saturday. He said there was nothin' wrong with the fridge and it just needed to be defrosted. But it was a frost-free fridge. He told us to let it defrost for 24 hours. Our vacation ended at 9:00 AM the next day. EIR could've put us in a different home since they couldn't fix our problem. They didn't offer us anythin' except to reimburse us for ice (up to $25). Ice machines don't give receipts, and we spent way more than $25 to keep our meds and food safe. We think it's fair to get our money back.
