Wow! So VERY, VERY disappointed with Ethan Allen. This is an abbreviated summary of what has transpired. I ordered (among other things) chairs for kitchen table in April, 2019. I received the chairs 5/24/19. I noted issues with three of the chairs (related to inconsistency of stain on chair legs). It wasn't until 6/18 before a service rep came to review the issue. The chairs were picked up for repair on 7/5/19. The chairs were delivered to me on 7/24/19 (4 hours after scheduled time bc of truck breakdown at almost 7 pm). Looked at chairs - same condition as when they were taken on 7/5/19. (Glad I took pictures before they left on 7/5/19). Did not accept delivery. By mid-day 7/25/19, I still had not received a call from Ethan Allen. Contacted Nat'l number on 7/25/19. Rep's response "Oh my, let me look into. We generally want 48 hours to get back to you." I said "no problem, leaving town for a few days." Well, that was 6 days ago and I still haven't been contacted and don't have my chairs. So here I sit, brand new 70 inch kitchen table and 2 chairs for a family of three! This isn't even all of the story of my experience, but certainly the most pressing. Just left call back number on national number. Wonder if I will get a call back or get my chairs back. Glad this purchase was made on a credit card. So VERY, VERY disappointed AGAIN!

I've been waiting for replacement slipcovers for two Bennett loveseats for SIX WEEKS, after waiting almost EIGHT WEEKS for delivery. Super sloppy work on the slipcovers (see pictures). I've called, emailed, made more calls, had tech rep come to my house...on and on. ZERO customer service! I finally got a "customer service " representative to email Shane Sessoms on my behalf and promised that I'd hear from him (or those cc'd) within a day or two. Guess what... 🦗 🦗 (crickets) after three days. I called again and asked for Shane's phone # and the "customer service " person responded that she couldn't give me that information! Ughhhh.. .. Great design center, but customer service is terrible. No interest once the sale is made. I've purchased from EA for years...if this is how they treat their best customers, good luck to everyone else 😂

Dear Sir,
We have gone from being extremely disappointed to angry over the past 4 months by our experience with Ethan Allen in Milford, CT. Both the product and response to issues with the product are a huge disappointment and unacceptable.
We chose to purchase our new sofa from Ethan Allen based on prior experience as well as reputation. We spent considerable time searching for the right sofa for our new home, knowing it needed to be comfortable enough for daily use but also attractive enough to be the first thing seen when entering the foyer our open concept. home.
We started looking on line and discovered the Carlotta style which had an interesting curved back which fit the bill appearance wise. We went to the closest store in Manchester CT to see if it fit the comfort test. They did not have that model in their store. We were told it was on the floor in Milford, CT which was another hour drive away. We decided to go there the next week as comfort is so important, making it critical for us to try the actual sofa.
We spent substantial time in the store, well over an hour, trying this as well as other sofas and were satisfied that this was the right choice for us and very comfortable as well as attractive, especially from the back which was critical for our space. The salesperson offered to come to our home to help us decide on the best fabric for our space and we made an appointment with her. She came with samples in September, we made our choice and ordered the sofa that day. So far our experience was all we hoped for from Ethan Allen. Great service by the store and great advice from the designer who came all the way to our home to help us with our choice.
The sofa was delivered at the end of October and that is when everything became a nightmare. The first thing I saw when the sofa was unwrapped was that it has a bench seat cushion, while we had sat on and ordered the two cushion version. The next thing was when we sat on the sofa and found it to be incredibly uncomfortable compared to the store version with far less support or "stuffing" in both seat and back cushions. There were "wrinkles" on the side and back of the sofa as well as areas around the top right side of the curved edges that appeared to be "dented" instead of smooth, looking like they were not properly stuffed during construction. This is very noticeable when entering the room. The back cushions are very flat compared to the floor model. We called the store and it was suggested we come back to Milford to try the floor model version again and to bring one of the back cushions with us to compare, which we did. The salesperson met us there and acknowledged that 1-she had ordered the bench cushion by mistake and 2-there was a noticeable difference between the stuffing of the floor model and the cushion we were given. She checked to be sure we ordered the same cushions and told us we had.
We were told they would order the correct seat cushions once I was able to send them the info they needed to match the fabric from the sofa at home. They offered to send a technician out to see about the other issues. They also offered to give us the inserts from the floor model back cushions since they were thicker and more comfortable. We bought a new sofa and have NO interest in using anything from a model in the store that has been used for who knows how long so declined and requested new inserts. Once I got home, I called back and emailed the info they wanted about the fabric lot and was told it would be 4-6 weeks to get the new and correct cushions. They said they would send the technician out when they arrived to take care of the wrinkles and look at the defects on the curved edges. I said that I would like that to be addressed as soon as possible for obvious reasons. I couldn't imagine that your company would want this to be a representation of their quality when people came into our home and we showed them our new sofa! They ultimately scheduled an appointment for someone to come over 3 weeks later.
The technician did finally come on December 5th and was able to mostly steam out the wrinkles. He acknowledged that the right back top edge looked bad. He hoped that the steam may help to smooth out the defect at the edge and it did seem to improve slightly at first but it was temporary and is in full view several days later.
While out of town this past week I received a voice mail from customer service advising me that my new cushions would be in at the end of January. This would be approximately 10 weeks from the time they were supposed to have been ordered! It took slightly less than 6 weeks for the original entire sofa to be made and delivered. Clearly they were never ordered when they were supposed to be at the beginning of November.
So here is where we are. We have a sofa that was made with the wrong cushions and inferior to what was displayed in the showroom in both appearance and comfort. We have a store that appears to be unconcerned that we are stuck with this product given their delay in sending the technician and even worse, ordering the cushions as promised. We are going through the holidays, unnecessarily, entertaining with this showpiece as an embarrassment. We are now expected to wait another 6 weeks to get the (hopefully) correct cushions.
What is worse, we have absolutely no confidence that this sofa is made with the quality to be expected from Ethan Allen. We feel we got a lemon. We do not see how the issues with the bumpy defects on the right side can be fixed. Nor did the technician. Our prior sofa was 20 years old and was made to last. This sofa feels as though we will be lucky to get a few years out of it at best, all the while looking at defects.
We are beyond disappointed and frustrated with the product and the service. We would like only to return the sofa. We realize it is "custom". While that makes it less generic, it is also the reason we expected it to be of better quality and at least to the standard of the floor model. It is neither.

1. The fabric was damaged on the arm that looked like a puncture. see attachment 1.

price increases as of september 18th, 2018
Today, Ethan Allen increased their prices on nearly all their products, with an average of nearly 10 %...and some items nearing 24% ! Example...Geo Lamp went from $499 to $619! Some items got prices increases in April and they now they got another on top of that .
In the past, EA would least give their customers a heads up and an opportunity to buy before an increase.
Pricing shocks like this will force buyers like me to look towards Bernhardt, Stickley, Lexington and etc here in NC.

I was looking to buy my entire bedroom set from Ethan Allen, which was already pricey. Ethan Allen has gone through numerous price increases over the last one year, I don't see how it makes them competitive when customers are not buying the products any more.
3 seat sofa

We bought all our furniture for our new apartment at ethan allen including the shades. We were thinking of the quality and that everything was going to last longer.
Of all the pieces we bought, the 3 seat sofa (pic attached) is the one that performed the worst. We bought it in 2014 and by early last year the cloth was ripped at the seat we use the most. We called the local store to complain and they sent a technician who claimed that it is wear & tear and that somebody likes that seat a lot and there was nothing he could do.
We have had many sofas and this is the first one that does not last. You have to agree that 2-3 years is not good for a $3, 500.00 sofa. This has taught us a lesson about ethan allen's products

I chose Ethan Allen to purchase an Audrey sofa and two small benches because of their reputation for quality. While the selection process was okay, my experience since the products have been delivered has been anything but. The sofa does not look anything like I ordered. The cushions are full of wrinkles. I took the concern to the manager at the Ethan Allen store but was told cushions with wrinkles are typical. The sofa I saw online and in the store when ordering had no wrinkles on the cushions. It has been 8 days since I have received the sofa and the wrinkles are getting worse by day. I wonder what would it look like in 6 months, a year, ... I paid $3, 000 for one sofa and was expecting a quality product.

I find this very interesting since I am having the same problem with cushions on my Bennett sofa. They have tried to fix it twice by adding batting to fill out the cushions which only got stuck in the zipper. Then they replaced the 3 back cushions which were originally made in medium firmness. They replaced with firm firmness and it did not fill out the cushions any better. Now I am asking for a refund since I am tired of having a dumpy looking sofa. Regional Manager is now saying my sofa is fantastic and is Ethan Allen standards. Terrible quality and terrible customer service that they can't admit they have a problem. How do you fix a problem if you deny it exists? I purchased the sofa at the Ethan Allen store in Sarasota FL so they know who I am.
retreat leather sofa
I purchased the leather Retreat sofa in Omni Brown from the Austin, Texas Ethan Allen store on Feb. 28th, 2018 from designer Janet Morganti. After speaking with Janet and telling her what I was looking for, a leather sofa that would stand the test of time, It was delivered March 28th, 2018. For the past 4-6 weeks I have been trying to get the owner of this particular store to resolve the issues with the leather peeling on this sofa. Mind you, it had only been in my possession for approximately 6 weeks when I started noticing the peeling. At this point I am stuck with a worthless sofa that apparently isn't even leather and I am out over $4000. This is not acceptable. I was told by a leather expert that this is not real leather.
I would like to speak to someone who can take care of this issue. I want my money back. This is not the Ethan Allen that my grandparents purchased their dining room table and chairs from in the 1950"s, they are still wonderful and have never had any issues. I am going to file a lawsuit against Ethan Allen in small claims court next week.
If Ethan Allen wants to protect their reputation I suggest they take care of issues with their furniture.

inferior chair
I ordered the Adam chair and ottoman. When it arrived I could visibly see that the cording was crooked the seat was puckered by the cording and the arm caps were sewed as if someone in the warehouse had been drinking. They don't fit the arms correctly and are visibly crooked.
I called to complain about the poor workmanship and someone from the warehouse came out to take a look. He took pictures and said someone would contact me. After a week I called THEM only to be told the chairs in the photo looked just fine. Haha. They don't look just fine. They are a mess!
Run very far from this company. Maybe in days gone by they had a decent reputation but not anymore. Once they make a sale they are finished with you. I only wish I had read the reviews from others before I ordered this piece of junk chair.

delivery service to my home
Saturday 4/7/2018 I had a delivery of my bedroom set to my home. It was raining outside and cold.
1.)The delivery crew never wore booties on the shoes and made a mess on my hardwood floors and beige carpet with their wet shoes.
2.) The delivery men would bring items in from the truck NOT once would they close the front door! I have cats they are NOT outdoor cats and could've gotten out. Also, it was cold and raining outside and the heat was going out the front door along with the rain coming inside the house.
3.) One of the delivery men brought the footboard up the stairs. The footboard was not protected with wrappings and he hit the footboard TWICE on the stairs wall while going up the stairs. Thank goodness the piece was not scratched or dented.
4.)The delivery men all heavy smokers put the bed set together. My bedroom stunk so bad of smoke that I had to open a window to let the smell out.
I called the store and the lady stated that I could write a letter to the company and hung up.
Kindly let me know that you have received my complaint because I am not happy about the Saturday delivery. I look forward to your call.

inferior quality of furniture
I selected Ethan Allen to view and eventually purchase furniture for our new home because of their reputation for quality. While the selection process was a fairly positive one, my experience since the furniture has been delivered has been anything but. I did respond to a questionnaire that was sent to me explaining my experience, but to date have not heard from anyone. In the end I am posting an online complaint because having spent over $31, 000 I have to advocate for myself.
1. The Gregory console doors are extremely difficult to open and close.
2. The Reeves tall dresser was delivered with a scratch underneath the finish on one of the drawers. Rather than replace the entire dresser Ethan Allen picked up the single drawer, refinished it off-site and returned it. The newly stained drawer did not match the other 4 drawers; Ethan Allen finally sent a new dresser. The process involved a lot of phone calls back and forth and a lot of time wasted on my part waiting for delivery people to pick up and drop off.
3. The design consultant in the Watchung, NJ store knew I was purchasing furniture to be placed in a great room. One end of the dining table and chairs would be placed less than 10' from the 2 recliners I liked. With that in mind the design consultant suggested Lachlan Gray for the Hadley Arm Parson Leg dining chair and Marcus Gray for the 2 Colburn recliners. In the store the fabrics were a match in terms of the gray color. I even purchased two same color rugs for the dining area and TV viewing area. Upon delivery it was easy to see the Lachlan Gray was indeed grey, but the Marcus Gray was beige. I was told by the design consultant to send her the swatch underneath the Colburn chairs. Her response to my complaint was that she spoke to the store manager. They decided the fabric on the Colburn recliners "reads" gray and was within an acceptable range even though it looks beige. I spent the past few months trying to find the fabric used by Ethan Allen eventually zeroing in on the Duralee Williamsburg Collection (Plaids & Stripes). In the Durallee book Pattern DJ61282/Color 698 Black/Linen is what Ethan Allen calls Lachlan Gray. The Durallee Pattern DM61278/Color 15 Grey is what Ethan Allen calls Marcus Gray. The Duralee greys match exactly.
What Ethan Allen considers acceptable is unacceptable to me; however they don't seem to care. The last thing I wanted to do was write an online complaint to customer service, but realized I should alert other potential customers.
While not completely satisfied with the over all experience, I do have a new dresser and the console table now opens and shuts with ease. Regarding the recliners, Ethan Allen does not necessarily agree with me, but they understand my frustration and have been working with me. Over the last year I have been to four Ethan Allen stores in New Jersey. One bright spot is the Princeton location which is by far the most organized in terms of fabric choices. K.C. is a gem!
avery dining table
I purchased an avery dining table a few years ago. After about three months, the finish on the table top started to come off. I called the ethan allen princeton store and they sent someone out to see the table. I received a call from the princeton store telling me that they would not repair the table. In addition, I was told that since I hadn't purchase a service contract there was nothing that they could do. I couldn't believe my ears - I had purchased the table thinking that ethan allen made a good product. Evidently, they don't. Obviously, I will never buy from them again.
If the problem started at three (3) months, that's when they should have been contacted; not years later. I wouldn't expect them to do anything further without paying more to have the surfaced refinished.
sofa bed/storage ottoman
We recently purchased a sofa bed and storage ottoman for our guestroom/TV room. After sitting on it only a few times, it looks like it is ten years old! We were told by the salesperson, that because it’s down, it would need to be fluffed up. Well, there is nothing to fluff! The cushions are so flat, you can feel the bed frame underneath. We sat on a sample cushion in the showroom and these cushions feel nothing like what we sat on. The back cushions are even deformed and sloppy. Then there is the storage ottoman; it was received with the inside wood broken, after weeks, someone finally came out to fix the wood. After the repairman left, it wouldn’t close anymore. A few weeks later, another repairman showed up and said it couldn’t be fixed and took pictures. Weeks later, customer service sent someone else out to pick it up, take it back to their shop and fix it. Well, it was returned in the same condition. After talking again with Customer Service, I was told that the picture on their website shows that there is a gap and it’s not supposed to close. Really, this is what a manager told her to say? This is the lamest excuse I’ve ever heard! Who would think to ask if the ottoman closed? If that’s true, shouldn’t the salesperson mention it? I have another storage ottoman in our Casita, that I purchased from Ballard Designs. It’s beautiful and it closes!
We went to Ethan Allen because we really wanted the room look classy. It looks frumpy and sloppy! We will never step foot in the store again, and our friends and neighbors moving into their new homes will hear our horror story too.

I have intended to send this as an email to Mr. Farooq Kathwari but I did not find his personal contact and/or email address.
I have been Ethan Allen customer since 2004. I like the style and quality of the furniture. However I’m not happy with the latest promotional sale scheme. It is unfair and frankly dishonest.
I bought Shelton sofa on 9/23/17 for $1754.83 plus tax and delivery charges. I bought it because it was on sale and I thought it was the last of the sale and it was going to go back to normal price after the end of the month.
By October 3rd, just 10 days after I purchased it, I received the new monthly magazine and found the sofa is reduced to $1596 – a substantial reduction from what I bought it.
Since it is only been 10 days and I have not received the goods yet, I called the store to find if they can give the reduction and let me have the sofa for the advertised price, they said no. They will only honor the price with three days. That happened to be the same time period within which customer is allowed to cancel the order and I think that is why – they know customer can cancel the order if they do not match the price.
I’m hoping that customer complain department and or the Sales and consumer relation VP will read this and decide to have them refund the price difference to me.

Hello, we purchased nice white sofa last year. It's only me and my husband sitting on the sofa. Nobody else! So it's not a lot of people who sit on it. Sofa still look great but only think that start damaging are the back cushions. They start loosing their shape! It's interesting becase cushions which you sit on it are still perfect. Do you think that is something I can do about it? We would love to keep the sofa but maybe exchange new back cushions.

3 years ago we purchase $20, 000 worth of furniture for our upstairs living room and downstairs rec room from our sales specialist Mary Kay. The $8000 leather sectional was damaged about 2 months ago by a company that lifted the short side sectional and laid it on top of the main sectional. This caused the thread to tear but the leather is still intact. After 4 weeks of being told that someone would contact us and numerous phone exchanges, their preferred and only furniture repair specialist told me they only handle work damaged during the one year warranty period. I called the main office and spoke with Lena who told me she would contact the local company and see what can be done. She returned with the same answer. You are out of luck with a recommended repairer, you're on your own. So you get sold this product for a lifetime, if there is any problem outside of that one year, good luck on getting a repair done. We had looked to add more furniture as we are redoing some bedroom but this is definitely a learning experience, which we will never buy any product from Ethan Allen again. The deceitful business practice this company engages in shall never be rewarded or encouraged.
