Travis schave of monument customs stole $1850 from me and my family in august 2018 after we paid him that amount to fix our car which had been damaged in an accident . Upon taking our money he never so much as called us back . After months of patient waiting and calling him we decided to take him and his wife to court and received a judgement in our favor . We still to this date are waiting for contact and our money back of which i have no doubt we will never get back . They are disgusting people and i am on this page only to warn the public not to approach these thieves and never to give them money. I will continue to report monument customs of grand junction and travis schave until i get justice and this scum bag is put out of business. Do not believe their lies they are scum of the earth.
the movement and their members
This movement is promoting disunity among churches. Instead of pointing fingers and being judgmental, they should first look on the way they live their lives. Is it pleasing in the eyes of God?
The way this movement approaches things are too subjective and biased. The verses they quote in the Bible are often times out of context.
The people behind this movement are too self-righteous.
Beware! Before you believe whatever they say and share, read the word with context to assess and examine the motive of this movement called The Reformation Resurgence.
ebay platform for refunding buyers
I think there are serious problems at ebay when regular, dispute and appeal representatives cannot follow up or follow through on their own recommendation(s) and promises to get a refund on a fake gold rings sold to me and my son in December and arriving in January 2019.
My son and I purchased at least 60 gold rings from our respective store names at the time, yesteryear09 and earldube_0. When we started receiving them in January they did not look real. So I did an acid assay for 10K and 14K on them as well as soaked them in white vinegar for 24 hours which showed them to be fake gold leaving dark spots, tarnish and loss of gold. I did not know which of the 5 sellers sent which items to us as they all looked similar sent in envelopes with Chinese writing I did not know who sent what. So in order to know who sent which ring, disputes were filed as not received, and these sellers responded that they did send the ring(s) identifying them in their response and I was able to determine who sent what. I noted what I had done to determine which seller sold me what ring and noted all of this new information under each submitted dispute. I also noted that I was not sure now if it mattered that they were filed as not received instead of not as described and got no reply. 30 days go by and I'm told that because I did not ask eBay to step in and help me all of them were closed. Then after eBay read everything in my dispute, they reopened all of the cases and told me I needed to refile all of them as not as described and not to worry because we would get our refunds. So I took pictures and uploaded them to each dispute with an explanation again of what had taken place and why I was resubmitting them not as described. It took me 3 days to get this done. Then 30 days go by and they are all closed because we did not ask eBay to step in and help. I called eBay again and told them what had occurred and we were told not to worry; not that we had to call eBay again and ask them to step in to help. We had already did that and followed eBay's instructions. They were re-opened again and 30 days later we finally started receiving our refunds on items that were paid for and not as described or never received. I asked about the other disputes that were filed and why they were not accepted. I had to talk to disputes and ultimately a person by the name of Ray, a supervisor, who said he would personally re-submit all of the claims that were closed in error and I do not have to worry about anything. I should get the remainder of our refunds within 30 days. Well, wouldn't you know that all but 7 were not reimbursed to us. I explained all of this to an escalations supervisor who said they would help me with all the remaining un-reimbursed claims; those that were not yet refunded back to us were re-opened, and again I was told not to worry Ms. Dube. In 30 days if the seller does not respond you will get your refund. 30 days goes by and I am refunded everything except 4 rings on my son's account that was changed to OUR store in January findingutreasures, and 3 rings on my account yesteryear09 that is in business with my son on findingutreasures now. With Cody's help in Escalations these 4 rings were again resubmitted for a refund this time if the seller did not respond in 5 days to return the items for a refund we would get our money back. He did not respond and Cody called me back as promised with a refund on 3 of the 4 rings. He could not tell me why the fourth ring did not refund and transferred me to Appeals where I spoke with Smairalen who diligently worked on this until she found out the root cause, Case SR1-[protected]. Now I feel like everything is finally over and we received our refunds due. Smairalen will call me to let me know when to expect a refund for this item.
But then I got 3 emails sent to my yesteryear09 account, stating that 3 cases have been closed in March with no explanation, who was awarded what, what the amount is, nothing. I was perplexed as to which 3 cases these could be. So I click on see return details and there is ID information from 1 but none of them at all recorded with any additional information as in all of the other disputes I continually updated and re-submitted the past 4 months. Here are the 3 items:
1) Jewelry 3.29 carat natural garnet 14kt solid white gold rings size 8.5# has been closed, Seller Gerald Zimmerman.
2) 3.95ct Brilliant Cut Natural Pick Diamond Solid 14 KT Yellow Gold Rings 9# has been closed, Seller Gerald Zimmerman.
3) [protected] Natural Antique 3.23Carat Yellow Sapphire Rings In 14kt Solid Yellow Gold 9# has been closed, Seller cameromaul0.
I called eBay today, April 4th and spoke first to Rhodora in Escalations, who's supervisor Dee, was too busy to speak to me and asked Rhodora to tell me to file for a refund from PayPal. In other words, don't bother me, and have someone else take care of your problem. So I called back and got Ria, asked to speak with her supervisor, Mark who would not even let me speak or explain what happened. He denied everything I was trying to explain to him. I finally had to ask if he was going to let me talk because I'm a customer who is calling to get help. He said he's not going to let me explain and only take what's written on the email as truth. I replied that I would just continue my BBB complaint and include his name and his response to me in the complaint. He said he didn't care what I did. I told Mark to go to hell and hung up. I didn't tell him what I really wanted him to know about his unprofessionalism and rude behavior.
So now I am in April 2019 still trying to get a refund on 3 rings purchased from yesteryear09 account and am no further ahead after calling for 4 months, and am just now finding out that there is a possibility that these 3 items on this account were never followed up by anyone and just left in suspension for 4 months receiving closure in March 2019?
When is ebay going to take responsibility or honor their own buyer guarantee that if an item is not as described the buyer will receive a full refund? Instead my refund is prlonged month after month after month, with errors performed by multiple various representatives from ebay's general help, escalations and appeals that I am still sitting here typing yet another complaint because ebay will not do their job or acknowledge that they have a platform to follow so these kinds of problems keep occurring?!
I want my refunds on these 7 items 4 months ago. I am not going to start another process with paypal because ebay can't be responsible, ethical or professional.
As of 4/5/19 ebay has decided to open one case of three filed for additional consideration on yesteryear09 ebay store.
returned socks for a $17.99 refund on 1/22/19, no reply from company. terrible service.
I wrote this to the Shoops on 1/31/2019:
To schoops: My Order has been returned. No acknowledgement or credit to my account posted.
Niraj said: My mistake was I ordered from you. You not only did not see immediate cancellation email, as there is no place for cancellation on your system, but you mailed me the socks. You approved my return, received my return but have yet to credit my account. I paid $8.00 for priority mailing, as you didn't send me post paid return. You don't do post paid return- either because clients will not return and you'll still have sold your goods. i await your credit, email. I am doing this as I feel i'm fighting for the principle.
the behaviour of owner, and his customer services
He was VERY rude and Abrupt, I got into an altercation with this man as he sped up past me, and over took me on the road. I obviously beeped at him... When we approached the next set of traffic lights he rolled down his window and started shouting abuse... He looked under the influence of some sort. After doing some research on Reynolds skip hire I stumbled across that the owner is being investigated for embezzlement with the HMRC, and may possibly be shut down.

You've locked me out of my account. You keep sending me texts saying to get back into my account using, "https://fb.me/1GFuY5Kp984QosD"
However, this reads, "ERROR PAGE". Facebook keeps sending me these notices, but I cannot get back on the page. This is for my business so I can be on Boontswap for businesses in my area. But I've been locked out for over four weeks now. Cannot get back in.
What gives? I know Zuckerfuck sells our info to businesses, so why not forgive and forget? Or is facefuck all FAKE!

Hi, my name is ANNETTE MATEVOSSIAN
customer service
Facebook is terrible. 3 months ago someone falsely reported my accounts as fake. Since that time I have been locked out of my accounts on all but one device. I have contacted FB well over 25 times and sent them my ID over 12 times with ZERO resolution. I use my fb account to promote my business including boosting my posts so I am a both a paying customer as well as a product for them. I am beyond frustration and anger with them. I'd like to be able to use my accounts like I did before the saboteur came along and falsely reported me. It's been THREE MONTHS! I've reported fb to multiple organizations but they are a giant and immovable organization. I have also tried resolving this issue on my own with the solutions just being circular in nature. As an example I've tried resetting my password and on the page where I am to reset my password, IT ASKS FOR MY PASSWORD! If I knew my password why would i be resetting it?! Unbelievable! The amount of aggravation this has caused me is huge. 3 months of frustration and anger!
FB disabled my account for consistently promoting ads not complying w/ their ad policy and told me it's unsafe. I run 2 Elderly care facilities... All I advertise on there is testimonials or education of taking care of senior citizens... Nothing Vulgar, porn or racial slurs... I've asked them to make sure they're looking at my correct account and review my page and they said they have several times and will not enable my account... Yet, they charged me for ads this month... Very unhappy w/ FB.
extremely rude, confrontational and abusive conduct by the owner and specific staff
7/3/19
I had been a client at Lisa O'Brien for almost a year, to date. While having my hair cut on two occasions I heard staff (including the hairdresser who does my hair) explicitly complaining about the fact that other business owners in the area were unfairly accusing the owner and certain of her staff of rude, aggressive conduct. Particular mention was given to a cafeteria which is almost next door to the hair salon in question, in those regards.
To date, I had let the matter go unheeded as I was not involved with the salon owner's or her staff's disputes with other clients or business owners. However, today when I went in to set up my next appointment, a blonde female, who announced that she owned the salon, marched over in a very confrontational way and stood in front of the small sofa which I was about to sit on while she started shouting would I "move and sit there". While I waited until she got out of the way in front of me so that I could actually sit on said sofa, she became very loud and insulting and for some bizarre reason claimed that she "had called the police about" me - for what reason I cannot imagine; she shouted "you are a nightmare.. your friends can't stand you" and other such offensive, defamatory drivel. The woman knows none of my friends, acquaintances or family and appeared determined to cause offence and insult for no reason at all. She then ordered me out in a very aggressive fashion, while another junior member of staff whom I had never seen until today joined in with shouting abusively towards me, saying "get out you're a nightmare". Absolutely shocking, to say the least and prompts me to think that there is a toxic, disturbing mixture of dysfunction amongst these people, which they project outwards when it suits them.
Having since spoken with specific business owners who lease premises alongside Lisa O'Brien in Rutherglen Main Street, they have confirmed to me in person that she has caused severe offence to them and their staff, to the extent that they have effectively banned Lisa O'Brien and certain of her staff from their premises. They have not formalised this action legally, however some of them are considering raising a petition against Lisa O'Brien. Until today, I had no particular issue with the salon; however I would strongly discourage anyone from putting themselves at risk of the type of treatment dished out by Lisa O'Brien and certain of her staff such as they demonstrated today and such as they have clearly demonstrated to other people also.
popcurvy
I reluctantly purchased merchandise from the online site of "Pop Curvy" https://www.popcurvy.com/ on January 2018.
The site promised to deliver fashionable & comfortable shapewear, lingerie, sleepwear, active wear and dresses of good quality at the most reasonable price for each customer around the world.
They go on to state that "All the products they are selling are made by top quality material and they go through rigorous inspection. We have an elite team with professional skills and unlimited creativity in product research and development."
To my dismay, the merchandise I received was of poor quality, poor workmanship and of poor sizing. Not to mention it took over a month and half to get my order fulfilled. I take it NOW, that PopCurvy is not located here in the USA.
When I emailed PopCurvy's customer service department, I was told that I could not return the "WORN" items. I didn't have to even try on the items to tell they weren't the right size (NOT EVEN CLOSE). The merchandise was poorly made and the material was some kind of spandex looking material.
Where is the "POPCURVY.COM" promise of a positive NO HASSLE online purchasing experience process? Dissatisfied customers is a part of that process. In addition they offer a dedicated and knowledgeable customer service team. I received nothing but broken English emails back refusing to refund my money. Even though I didn't even try on items. They offered me 20% of what I paid…. that is preposterous. THEY NEED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR MERCHANDISE. IF NOT, DON'T SELL IT.
"BUYER BEWARE! Do NOT buy ON THIS SITE!
Poor customer relation AND poor quality sizing
I just wanted a refund not a hassle.
I ordered bra from POPCURVY.COM. They completely ignore the fact that bras have also cupsize and sent me a bra with a totally wrong cupsize. They refuse to relpace it with a correct one. They refuse to refund it. In order to get refund, they asked me to send it back and I should pay for shipping! They sent me the wrong size.
I have the same problem. I ordered by reference fom their sizing chart ant the articles are way too small. I have sent emails requesting a refund as per their policy and have not had any response. How can they continue to rip people off like this and get away with it. They are willing to take your money.

fake hotel - fake rentals
Fake hotel and vacation rental alert
Villa la flamenca located in tenerife (spain) is a scam. It's not a hotel and it's not a vacation rental. The person posting fake pictures of this place online to lure victims is a belgian who resides in the canary islands. Her name is mariana rodriguez vandeputte.
Ms. Mariana posts fake pictures on multiple sites online that belong to other real hotel businesses in the area. This is easily identifiable by using google's reverse picture search.
Once you contact her online she gives you fake customer references. She then takes your deposit and a week or two before your rental is supposed to start she comes out with an excuse to keep your money.
She also claims that her"hotel" is for sale.
I lost €300 with this scam. If you are a victim you can file a report with spain's national police at +34 922 23 60 40.
vitamins - overcharging
Deseptive Advertising - Offer a FREE BOTTLE of supplements for Shipping and Handling - $4.95.
You are charged twice: $4.95 / $4.95
15 Days Later you are charged $98.00 / $98.00 - the add offers a 100% Guarantee - No Money Back -but they will not refund.
Many BBB complaints about this company - claiming that this was very deseptive. Money back Guarntee states that you can get your money back if you are not 100% Satisfied with the product - Fine Print will only consider this if product is unopened. ( Very Deceptive)
They also claim that you click to accept these charges - I did not.

message service
Several days ago many messages were removed from my account. These contained several photos. I am very upset that I have lost these messages. How can I retrieve them. I want them back! The communications were between me and a friend overseas. There were st least 20+ messages and photographs. At the same time that these messages disappeared, communications between a long lost friend were taken away. There was no reason to remove them.. No profanity, no lewd photos, l am very angry about this practice! Please find them and send them back. Asap. [protected]@yahoo.com

facebook messenger/algorithm
A friend had reached out to me via the Facebook Messenger app out of concern for my safety and wellbeing due to a domestic situation. Shortly thereafter, I found myself blocked from Facebook Messenger for a post I shared earlier describing racial discrimination on myself as a child. The post was not threatening, abusive, or offensive, and simply detailed information about my experiences. Their algorithm blocked posts, replies, instant messaging, and the ability to report a complaint or post on the public boards because I had allegedly violated community standards. This is not the first time they have blocked my account for flagrant reasons. There have been other sensitive or controversial topics I've posted about, non-abusive, in which there has been no good reason for them being blocked other than they might have been unappealing to some people. As a result of their extraneous blocking, I've lost contact for several days with friends whom I've been in contact with, providing support and help regarding my domestic situation.

lucid tiger
This company is a scam and you NEED to cutoff all business with them.
I ordered a product from them on November 25th. I received an order number and tracking number and have yet to receive the product. I have contacted them multiple times via email and phone and they have yet to return and a call and you cannot track the shipping of the item.
In reading all of the social media for this company it is a scam and it is advertised on FACEBOOK. That is where I had seen it and how I had ordered my item #6056. I am now out the $34.94.
I am looking for a refund of my money. At this point I do not want the item as it appears it is not even the real FUNKO product but a knockoff that they are selling as a FUNKO (false advertising) at its best. This company is the truest form of BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES I have ever seen.
I have just been scammed by them too. Paypal have denied my refund because I couldnt give proof of tracking. Even though I sent the receipt from the Post office. So gutted. How do they managed to keep getting away with this? Where is Paypals buyer protection?
If you used a debit card, talk to your bank about the matter. If you used a credit card, contact the company of the card and request how you can get a chargeback. You will have to provide documentation of the product itself and be as detailed as possible. I just opened up a case with my bank on this after PayPal refused to take responsibility for their services. I don't know if yours will be the same, but mine sent me two form--ETF (it's an error report form) and another which I had to attach a typed letter to explain the situation. Be sure that you save all emails between you, LucidTiger, and PayPal. If you have an 'other' option on the forms when it requests for you to describe your problem, choose that and, again if like my bank, it should give you the option of attaching the letter I mentioned. They will want to know everything, including what lengths you went through to try and get it resolved.
If you like, here is my letter (some details omitted for security reasons). Just copy-paste it and change it to suit your situation. I imagine yours is pretty similar to mine.
On November 16, 2018, I made a purchase on the LucidTiger.com website. The item was advertised as a Stan Lee Pop. It even included pictures of an original product claiming that is what I would be getting. I used PayPal Guest Checkout and spent $34.94 in total. I received a response, but no tracking number. I decided to contact Support@LucidTiger.com to request a tracking number and they gave me one and it wouldn’t work right. I did let them know of this. I did notice that their first response had changed shipping estimates for different areas of the world despite what their website claimed. After some time, I inquired about the product again on December 13th. On December 20th, they responded with my order number and the same original tracking number and apologies coupled with reassurance I would receive the product. More time passed with no item in sight and I emailed them once again on January 9, 2019 to check on updates. January 10th, I received a reply from someone with their company claiming to be Julie. Her excuse for why my package was late is that it was somehow damaged in Typhoon Usagi. She promised that I would then receive a completely new product along with new shipping details free of extra charges. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and agreed. She promised it would arrive between January 20th and January 30th. I input the newly supplied tracking number and again it yielded no results just as the previous one had not, but I also used a Chinese tracking service and the only thing it said was Korea with absolutely no details at all. Trying to remain patient and understanding, I waited more until February 1st to retry the tracking again and still it didn’t exist with their website tracker while a Chinese tracking service claimed it had expired. On that note, my order details page for the new product had mysteriously disappeared as well. It was on February 1st that I also contacted them yet again to inform them that the tracking still wasn’t working. I explained that it would be two days after the maxed eta promised of January 30th and that I would give them one last chance but that I was losing my patience and getting angry because this is not how a business is suppose to be run. I received an automated response stating they were doing maintenance and would be in touch again come February 10th. At this point, I was livid and let them know that I had left them a negative review on the BBB followed by a demand for a full refund. My second email which contained the refund demand generated another automatic response, this time stating my request could not be delivered for whatever reason. Thus, the communication there ended. Next, I approached PayPal and was slung around from agent to agent to agent getting nowhere. Initially, the dispute on PayPal was opened as I hadn’t received the package, until I finally did. It was in a red, plastic bag that was sealed. Opening it, I saw an item wrapped in bubble wrap, but it looked odd. Upon further inspection, the box was severely damaged on all sides and it was certainly not what was pictured on the website. Suspicious, I opened it and what I found was an inauthentic recreation which was certainly not what was advertised. Not only that, there was damage to the product itself via a good, thumb-sized divot in the top of the head. I took photos of it and the box from all angles, then I found photos of the real model and made comparisons between the two. PayPal changed my dispute from “Item not received” to “Substantially not as advertised”. With my evidence, they said I was eligible for a refund but not their return shipping reimbursement program since I had used PayPal Guest Checkout. I was advised that I could request a shipping label from the seller and upon trying, the company acted as if they didn’t know anything about the ordeal let alone have any records of my order. I sent PayPal a message explaining this and they told me I would then be responsible for shipping charges. My problem with this is the refund comes to a total of $34.94. To ship this to the supplied address in Vietnam, it would be just over $34, meaning I actually would not be getting a refund considering the costs. PayPal refused to help, thus I was at a dead end.
During this time, PayPal had given me the seller’s information which was vastly different from what I had. This time, their name was Uredaka and the email supplied by PayPal for me to contact was Support@Uredaka.com. Also, on the package, there is one address but when I was told I was eligible for a refund, they gave me a completely different address. In my possession is the product, the packaging it came in, and all correspondence between myself, LucidTiger/Uredaka, and PayPal as well as pictures of the box and the bare model itself proving it is inauthentic contrary to pictured claims.
My advice is to never use PayPal for anything else. They have gotten numerous complaints about this and other companies but refuse to remove their ability to use PayPal's services and refuse to take responsibility for when their negligence allows abuse through them. They are a seedy company who tries its best to get out of anything they can and doesn't really even listen to customer complaints. They typically side with sellers even if there is proof that seller has stolen and used fraudulent practices.
This company needs to be dropped by both Facebook and Paypal. Lucid Tiger is also known by Uredaka, something I discovered while fighting with PayPal for a refund they have now denied claiming to have confirmation my order was delivered even though it never was. I will be going to my post office tomorrow to see if they have it. In the meantime, I have spoken to other victims of their scamming practices and those who received their orders found they were horribly cheap fakes. What do I do now that PayPal has refused to cooperate and keeps letting this company use their services?
Facebook, drop them. Seriously. You are allowing theft on your website.
I've been scammed by lucid tiger and need my refund
account disabled for no reason - no response to appeals.
My account was first suspended for "suspicious activity" - and the last thing I did on it was to like a post about the soccer World Cup. It was the 4th of July 2018.
A month later it was disabled with no explanation. I have tried submitting multiple appeals, but never even got a response from the company. Nothing - not even an email acknowledging that they read my appeal.
I submitted a BBB complaint, and all I received was a response that they could not help me through BBB, that there is a ticket opened, and I should have received an email requesting more information (which never happened - is Facebook lying, or are they just incompetent? or maybe both?). The rest of their responses said that I should contact their Help Center (as if I hadn't!).
In the country, where even the legal system has a rule that you are considered innocent until proven guilty, why is a company allowed to do as they wish, and disable an account that has never received a complaint in 10 years? An account, whose owner has never posted anything offensive, never tried to make any sales etc? And with no explanation? Facebook should be held accountable for such unethical practices.

Same problem here.. and Facebook still not responding.. is their is any legal way to file a case ?
goodeal/charger
Why do you continue to allow these companies, which you know are scammers, still advertise on your site? Mostly the Chinese companies which are now using American addresses. I will never gain buy anything on Face Book and I am recommending that nobody else does either. You put me in jail for a day because I said they sent me Chinese junk...which was true, it was junk from China, but you find it okay for these companies to scam your users. I don't get it.
reviewing lockout
In the past 48 hours, Facebook have blocked my access to my own account on the pretext that my name is incorrect (there are lots of people using psuedonyms on FB) but presumably due to complaints leveled at me by the UK "charity", Campaign Against Antisemitism, a Zionist front that I have criticised, whose sole raison d'être is to undermine
Labour UK and Jeremy Corbyn by spreading lies about him and those on the left of the party. The CAA avail themselves of a newly adopted definition of antisemitism (IHRA) that defines criticism of Israel and Zionism, or of Jewish organisations and even Jews, as antisemitic. While this definition has been criticised by scores of experts and is rejected by many Jews, it has begun to be used to silence criticism of Israel and Facebook appear to have no problem implementing this new definition, as long as they believe it is within their rights or that Facebook members who fall foul of the new definition will not be able to take them to court.
According to the European Digital Rights watchdog:
Facebook is currently under fire due, among other things, to the furore surrounding fake news and the co-option of Facebook by terrorists. At a time when numerous critics have concluded that Facebook divides us, Mark Zuckerberg now sees the platform's future in its "groups". Therefore, the company is investing in a friendlier image.
One thing the company is doing, is trying to make its services safer for users, through the expansion of its "Community Safety Team" and the launch of new functionalities, including a designated area for groups' rules of behaviour. On the face of it, a welcome development: it is important to reflect on how platforms are designed. Which functions serve which people? How can clever design at early stages of product development minimise the amount of objectionable content being posted?
Of course, measures that make Facebook safer to use, are welcome. Still, this development leaves us feeling uneasy. By investing in "community leaders", Facebook is meddling with society's most essential category: its communities. It is an intervention we can do without. These are our prime objections:
Not a neutral conduit:
Facebook shapes interactions between you and your community, and between the members of your community amongst one another. Sometimes, it does this explicitly, for example by offering certain functions and not offering others. But it also does this invisibly, by indirectly influencing your decisions, "nudging".in both cases, the user has little or no insight into how they are being "guided", not to mention that they have little or no control. Facebook controls what may, and may not, be discussed: Do we really want to let our freedom of expression be dependent on the terms and conditions of a multinational corporation? Because it is Facebook that decides what is acceptable and what is not. The company claims it wants to be a "friendly platform" that "brings people together". That automatically means the prohibition of certain types of statements.in the past Facebook has, for example, considered it necessary to block cartoons of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan - they clearly didn't bring people together enough! YouTube, in turn, deemed it important to label LGBTQ-related content as not family-friendly. Platforms are under increasing pressure to combat the spread of "undesirable content", a term now being applied to everything from copyrighted material to extremist propaganda and from unpopular opinions to hate speech. If the current trend continues, we can expect to encounter censorship on platforms with increasing frequency in the future.
Around the world, communities are doing important work and are taking a stand concerning something they are passionate about.in doing so, they utilise the means available to them. It pays to look critically at those means. Do they work equally well for all members of the community? And where large platforms are involved, how can you prevent them from becoming the gatekeeper between the members of the community?
Bits of Freedom struggles with this, too. They choose to use Facebook and Twitter, but with some restrictions: They do not profile individuals through advertisements, nor do they upload pictures of people or invite them to events.in addition, they invest in channels of communication they control, such as their newsletter and email groups. Finally, they organise gatherings offline. They realise their choice of communication channels work better for some people than for others. For some, they might not work at all. If we want to increase our ability to rally support for our issues, we need to find more diverse ways of engagement. Where do we start?

Without naming names I would briefly like to refer to a conflict that arose between two people who I have been following who should and could, in my opinion, join forces in the face of a common cause. The first of these is a long-time Labour activist with strongly critical views on the issue of Israel and Zionism who was recently expelled by the Labour party's watchdog accused of being an anti-semite or making anti-semitic statements or criticising the new overly broad definition of anti-semitism.
It is difficult to know exactly what the accusations were and Labour UK have not offered any kind of opportunity for redress, leaving this individual to seek readmittance and possibly compensation or punitive damages through the courts. He has since made a strong stand against antisemitism and in the course of doing so, levelled accusations against other critics of Israel and Zionism, in an apparent effort to distance himself or regain his credibility. His efforts, through posts and threads on Facebook, led to heated discussion and recrimations and he has since shown himself unable to engage in intellectual or reasoned debate outside a narrowly defined range of topics. Thus, when engaging with others who pointed out that the influence of the "Jewish lobby" in Washington is hardly a secret, he refused to engage with the argument that Capitalism and Neoliberalism are not the only forces represented in the political arena and that nationalism and narrow ethnic interests can become closely aligned within Capitalist agendas.
It is a fact that accusations of a conspiracy of Jewish bankers and politicians was part of the anti-semitic tropes exploited by the Nazi's. This individual therefore defined any attempt to discuss this subject as anti-semitic and those pursuing the discussion as antisemites. The second person I call to account is a well-known writer whose first work offers not just an incisive critique of Israel and Zionism, but also offers an incisive examination of concepts of Judaism, victimhood and identity. This book was, in my opinion, well written and thought out. But its message was not welcomed by the Jewish community and many Jews from both left and right of the political spectrum have since criticised the author and called him an anti-semite and the work antisemitic.
This treatment, though hardly unexpected, seems to have had a profound impact on the author who now disowns his "Jewish" side. Because his arguments seem to expose something about Judaism that corresponds to claims of a Jewish/Israeli conspiracy, rejection by many Jews and accusations of anti-semitism appear to have driven this author further to the right, to adopt some of the language and ideas of the "alt-right" and to claim he is a philosopher rather than an activist (and hence, that his new work is "post-political"). Unfortunately this person, just as the aforementioned one, also has personal quirks like attention seeking and an uncanny ability to avoid criticism so that he is not easy to debate with. One either agrees with him or not.
At this point I would like to introduce a third person, who embodies, for me, a possibility for reconciliation that the former two individuals appear to reject. Her approach to accusations of antisemitism is remarkable in that she both invites reasoned criticism and allows her critics to speak (while remaining admirably calm, something I am not sure I could do) and also embracing a radical new possibility for herself by creating a new dialogue highlighting both her personal histor (ies) and historical continuit (ies) between slavery, racism, genocide, holocaust and Israel's human rights record and the Palestinian struggle for selfdetermination. Needless to say her work also embodies ideas about gender and Feminism.
This third person has adopted a creative and inquiring approach that allows her audience to engage with both the highly personal and subjective aspects of her subject and with the social, historical and political dimensions of movements and struggles that span centuries. Her approach is also decidedly un-intellectual, though certainly not without cognizance of theoretical and ideological discourses. Rather, her one-woman show provides an opportunity for her audience to situate themselves, their own place and the place of current events, within a much larger framework than that afforded by ethnocentric, gendercentric, euorocentric, Western centric discourses emphasising current concerns such as "the war on terror" ethnic conflict, ‘democracy' and ‘freedom'.
One possible benefit of this approach is that it neither necessitates distancing ourselves from our ‘ancestry' and inherited culture, or adopting a fundamentalist idealist stance that requires us to reject a priori criticism that "sounds antisemitic" racist or any of the other things the alt-right are currently attacking as being either motivated by personal interest or by "identity politics".in this approach, identity can be embraced while still acknowledged as something of a narrative that we can avail ourselves of to understand the world, but which we do not need to adhere to when it becomes an obstacle to such understanding, or where it simply provides a limited worldview.
All of the people discussed above are admirable for their commitments to and contributions to a BIG DEBATE that ultimately aims to expose the mechanisms of the current social and cultural paradigms, the political and economic system and to propose possible solutions. They SHOULD all be working together, complementing each others work, challenging each other to refine ideas and work out effective strategies.
Unfortunately, chances of this happening seem slim. Facebook provides a ‘soundboard' and echo chamber for ideas, but it does not provide a framework for reconciliation, for resolving differences and learning how to get along better. This is hardly surprising considering the extent to which social media are products of a Capitalist Neoliberal idealism that views individuals as separate and competing. Even as we renew our commitments to reasoned dialogue, peace, justice and so on, social media harshly expose the extent to which we are separated from each other, if not diametrically opposed by ideological commitments, self-righteousness and other psychological limitations — wanting
to belong, desiring connection, inability to form our own opinions based on research, etc etc.
I am angry, for the reasons stated above, that people who each have so much to contribute to each other and to all of us, seem unable to recognise the obvious ways in which social media impose on us the separation that is, it seems, a fundamental mode of Capitalism. We form allegiances with those who agree with us, but fail to work out our differences with those we disagree with, opting instead for the easy solution provided by boundless ‘choice'. Like being able to choose from 30 different brands of toothpaste, our political allegiances become weak, unstable, empty of real meaning and the possibility of solidarity and collective action. — Copyright: Daniel Waterman, Feb. 2018
