OMG, Let me tell you, this Credit Union is a total waste of time
OMG, Let me tell you, this Credit Union is a total waste of time. Don't even bother trying to apply with them. And whatever you do, stay away from supervisor Heather! She'll just leave you hanging with your online application and then tell you to go to one of their local branches to fill it out. I mean, seriously, their online application is a complete dead end!
I had a really bad experience with FCU for years and finally managed to refinance
I had a really bad experience with FCU for years and finally managed to refinance. Since I refinanced three months ago, I've been asking them to electronically send my title to my new finance company or email me a release lien letter to send to the ***. I've been calling them for months and today I called five times. They hung up on me and laughed at me. I'm pregnant and on bed rest, but nothing has been resolved yet.
I've been tryin' to get in touch with Florida Credit Union on the phone for hours
I've been tryin' to get in touch with Florida Credit Union on the phone for hours. I've tried 3 different numbers, an 800#, a Gainesville #, and an Ocala number. All of 'em have the same dang message. I even used 2 phones at once, callin' 2 different numbers and waitin' forever. Ain't nobody pickin' up. There ain't even a chance to leave a message without losin' your spot in line. On top of that, the website don't even recognize ya when ya try to get an auto loan. And there ain't no email address to contact 'em.
I couldn't access my account for four days
I couldn't access my account for four days. I called on Monday and they said to wait until the next day because of a system change. The online banking site still doesn't work and the phone lines are busy. I just waited for 10 minutes in a chat window with no response. Finally, I got through on the phone - a recorded message told me I was #75 in line. Looks like I'm not the only one with problems. This is the worst customer service experience I've had in a while. It's pretty bad that I can't access my account! I feel like I made a big mistake choosing this place.
I opened a personal and small business account with FLCU because a reputable contractor recommended it
I opened a personal and small business account with FLCU because a reputable contractor recommended it. Right from the beginning, I faced issues with my ATM card and got charged fees for their mistakes. Now, I'm dealing with a 7-day hold on a commercial check from another bank. FLCU needs to verify the funds, even though their fee schedule clearly states a $25 fee for check verification. The customer service rep acted like she didn't know about this option! As a small business, it's impossible for me to manage payroll and bills without working capital. I had high hopes that a Florida credit union would support me, but all they've done is make it harder for me to operate by holding onto my money. I'm extremely disappointed and will definitely express my frustrations to the contractor who referred me.
I've been a member with Florida Credit Union for 10+ years
I've been a member with Florida Credit Union for 10+ years. I've been going through a bit of a hard time. I had a small loan with FCU and decided to pay off my current loan and apply for another loan to get my husband's car fixed just as I've done in the past with no problem. Like a dummy, I pay off the loan only to get denied. Now I'm in a worse place than I started. I'm not sure why I was denied as this would have been my 3rd loan with them and I've always paid them off early. We get over that hurdle. I'm in need of surgery and just needed a little bit of cash to get me to my next payday because the hospital surprised me with an additional fee I did not know of since I already paid my doctor over $1,000 just for the surgery, but now the hospital wanted $956 (health insurance is trash). We apply for a $500 payday loan and was denied, although in the past we've gotten them on many occasions a few years back when my credit was actually bad. They say credit unions are for the people, but that is no longer the truth, at least not this one. After the pandemic, you have to already have money to get any help. How will your customers be able to make it out of the trenches if they can't even get a helping hand? People who have done business with you for years only to be turned away. If I have no money, you will happily charge me a fee but not help to avoid that from happening.
BEWARE: I got a car loan from Florida Federal Credit Union (FCU) based on a dealership's recommendation
BEWARE: I got a car loan from Florida Federal Credit Union (FCU) based on a dealership's recommendation. After a few months, I wanted to pay off the loan. Since I don't live near an FCU branch, I called to find out how much to send them. I had to wait on hold for a long 45 minutes before someone finally answered and gave me the amount. I immediately sent a check for that sum, thinking I was done with FCU. But then, after a few more months, I got a notice saying that $5 of the money I gave them was used to open a savings account, which I hadn't requested. The notice mentioned an inactivity fee because I hadn't used the account. The first fee wiped out the initial $5, and then another fee put me in debt to FCU for another $5. I emailed FCU to explain that I had paid off the loan and terminated our financial relationship by sending the requested amount. So, obviously, there was no further activity and I didn't owe them more money! But a few days later, I received a threatening letter from FCU, warning that if I didn't send the demanded funds, they would report it to credit bureaus and damage my otherwise excellent credit rating! How can I end this supposed account that FCU wants to use to keep taking money from me? Should I call and hope that someone will eventually answer my question after an hour or two on hold? It feels like dealing with a loan shark – they never stop demanding money, and it's impossible to break free!
Me and my husband been members of Florida Credit Union for like 4 years now
Me and my husband been members of Florida Credit Union for like 4 years now. We got 2 checking accounts, 2 savings accounts, 2 auto loans, and a personal loan. We always make our payments on time and we're almost done paying off one of the cars and the loan. We never messed up with Florida Credit Union, never went over our limit or anything. We had a tough time a couple years ago and almost went bankrupt, but we managed to keep all our accounts with them. We never missed a single payment, not for the cars or the personal loan. We asked them if we could get a secured credit card to help rebuild our credit, but they said no. That's what they advertise, right? It's not like we wanted to transfer any balances or anything. We told them our credit report isn't updated yet 'cause we paid off a bunch of stuff. But they still said no. It's supposed to be a community credit union, but it's not that great. When you go to their branches, it feels like a dirty welfare office. And you gotta wait forever to talk to someone, either in person or on the phone. We've had so many problems with our accounts and getting locked out of our money since they changed their banking system. It's a total nightmare every week. We're gonna take our $140,000 a year and find somewhere else to go. My husband owns a local business and I'm a real estate person, and we wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone. Run away fast!

My credit union garnished 3/4 of my paycheck to cover a loan I had started making payments on. It was a real bummer, ya know? I was tryin' to make ends meet, but they took a big chunk outta my hard-earned money. I mean, I get it, I owed 'em some cash, but I wish they coulda worked with me a bit more. It's like they didn't care about my financial situation at all. I'm just tryin' to get by, man.

Florida Credit Union contacted me saying that my September payment wasn't made, and they put a negative remark on my Equifax report, which has been really bad for my plans to buy a house. But I did make the payment, so they need to fix this right away. And they should also give me a written apology for the trouble they caused.

My mortgage has been going up ever since I refinanced with Florida Credit Union, and the excuse they're giving me is that my escrow is in the negative when it's actually in the positive by $2000. I also noticed that money from my escrow has been moved in March this year. My escrow was $2000 plus, and I always paid extra when I paid my mortgage.
This company won't give me or my closing title company a copy or receipt of a loan payment
This company won't give me or my closing title company a copy or receipt of a loan payment. We've called and emailed more than 15 times, and they keep putting us on hold and lying to us. My heloc loan was paid over a month ago, but they didn't send me any acknowledgement. When I call them, they say it's paid, but they won't send a receipt. They've been so negligent and incompetent that my house closing has been postponed multiple times. This can't be legal. We need someone to help us.
I just tried to pay off my car loan, which was overdue for 90 days
I just tried to pay off my car loan, which was overdue for 90 days. The total amount I owed was $1092. I told them I wanted to pay it all at once, and I even filled out a packet explaining why I fell behind (which was really personal). I did everything they asked, but they still didn't think it was a good idea to let me catch up on my loan and move forward. They said I had to find another place to refinance my loan, and I only have 15 days to do it.

I've been trying to get a payoff document from this credit union on 9/17 over the phone, on 9/19 through their website email, and on 9/20 via phone and website chats. The website won't let me register and doesn't recognize my loan account. The staff handling the chat line are also busy serving customers at the teller lines, so the chats end without any progress and I haven't been connected to loan officers who could potentially assist me better. I've called their 800 number six times, but haven't received any call backs or responses. When I asked to speak to a manager or loan officer, I didn't get any response. People have only had negative things to say about their mobile app, so I didn't bother wasting time trying to download it.
I been with this bank since 2014, and I made mistakes before, but I fixed them all
I been with this bank since 2014, and I made mistakes before, but I fixed them all. Sometimes it feels like they're taking money from my charged off bank account. Whenever I dispute a charge, my bank denies it and sends it to Pscu. Then, after 60 days, I get my funds back. The dispute department is not professional, and there's no one to talk to. Everyone lies. There's only one person at the bank I trust to talk to. But my bank doesn't protect their clients properly. *** are a joke. They're the worst employees in the dispute department. They deny every dispute, but once Pscu gets involved, I get my money back after 120 days.
FCU said I'm late again, now two months past due
FCU said I'm late again, now two months past due. Got a letter saying I'm one month behind too. Same day, same company. Anyways, their computer messes up almost every month. It's impossible to pay unless I (a disabled man) drive an hour and a half. They keep saying they'll put in tickets and call back for payments. But now they sent a 30 days late notice. In 20 years, I had 2 late payments, both because their computer glitched. I think it's their problem, not mine. I want the late payment off my credit report. I'm on the phone with the bank now, and the lady trying to fix it can't even see that I made a payment. So frustrating. I can see the payment made here, but the bank can't. We can't even make the payment right now.
My experience with trying to open a checking/savings account at Florida Credit Union was a complete nightmare!
My experience with trying to open a checking/savings account at Florida Credit Union was a complete nightmare! One particular FCU employee, ***, was extremely rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I even tried to file a complaint against her, but she refused to give me her supervisor's name. I provided all the necessary documents to open the account and was told to contact *** to finalize it. However, every time I tried to reach her, she was never available. She also didn't give me her working hours or days. After many unsuccessful attempts, another employee informed me that any employee could finalize my account. So, I spoke to a different employee who said that my account was now finalized. However, a few days later, I discovered that *** had closed my account for no good reason. When I finally managed to speak to her directly, she had a terrible attitude. This employee should not be dealing with the public and has been the worst bank employee I've ever encountered.
My auto loan is due on the 18th of each month
My auto loan is due on the 18th of each month. I don't bank with FCU, just have an auto loan. I've been paying as a "guest" on the loan payment for FCU since I started the loan. Without notice, FCU changed their platform. I can't pay my loan. I entered my SSN, member number, and all the other required info. I went to the branch location but the line was too long, couldn't wait over an hour because I had to pick up my kids. So I called customer service. 3 times I was on hold for over 25 minutes with no answer and no call back option. I tried to enroll and set up an account at FCU.com and entered all the required info. When it was finally done and I submitted it, the system shut down and said "contact administrator". I called, emailed, and went to FCU branch locations to pay my loan with no resolve from FCU and no explanation or heads up about the online loan payment changing. Also, I'll get a call tomorrow saying my payment is past due since I can't pay today because there are no payment options available. FCU has verbally harassed me on the phone demanding their loan payment when there's no way to pay it. This customer abuse needs to stop!

We bought a car a few years ago with a loan from Florida Credit Union, no problems there, but after we bought it, they called us and asked us to open a checking account with them. They said that because of the car loan, they would give us $100. So we said okay. Every statement we got for the car loan had a box on it about this checking account with $100, but they never gave us a way to access the account, not even online. We finished paying off the car loan, and after waiting on hold for hours multiple times, we gave up on getting the $100 and just left it alone. Now we got a letter saying that because we haven't used the account, they're going to charge us $15 (not sure if it's per month or per day). But the same week, we got another letter saying the account is overdrawn and has a negative balance. They never even gave us a debit card or the full account number, so we can't access it online. It's been many days of waiting on hold for hours with no answer, and we've tried calling their local branch and the 800 number many times with no response. I'm currently deployed out of the country, so I can't just go to their office. The photo shows how long I've been waiting for someone to answer again...
