attitude of new personnel
I was in the new Food Lion that took over from Bill. I live across from this store so I have shopped there for years. First I went in there for three older ladies. As I was checking out my ordersi asked the lady to get me cigarettes the lady came back and I was ringing them though. The lady at self help asked if I had paid for something forgetting I had paid I rang them on. My bill! I have never in my life been spoken to in a manner as that. Was uncalled for! As I was exiting the store I asked her if she wanted to frisk me! 2) I went in a told thegirl in deli to get me 1/2 pound of meat sliced. I went to get fruits when I got back she had a whole pound. Well she split it and threw it on weigh machine complaining to others I had ordered full pound, I am older so I never get myself full. These employees were not friendly nor were they helpfulI cried through the store, never in my whole life have I been treated so badly. The girl in deli was a thin black girl! I will not shop there again.

Today at work (FoodLion) in Louisa, VA my manager came over to me after talking to another cashier and asked me if I was a minor and I said yes then she said and you're pregnant and I answered yes then she responded with shame on you. I would like this problem solved as quickly as possible I shouldn't feel targeted in my place of work for being pregnant, there are law suits that can be filed.

Goat cheese has been discontinued at Norlina Food Lion. I was informed I could drive another 20 minutes to Food Lion Lake Gaston where it has not been discontinued. Where is this product discontinued? The employee stated t was a productive seller.
No internet service in store so had to go outside to Google what cheese could be substituted for goat. Came back and an employee came over to fine the substitute...which 2 containers we're expired over a month 8/3/18

This product made me and my fiance sick twice before I realized that it was the culprit. This is unacceptable. I have eaten meats from this store on several occasions and not complained. Now I am "Fed up" literally. Let me know how you will make this up to me. I have suffered through my my primary job and missed two lucrative appointments. I am obliged to make this public. Please let me know how i should proceed.

I've shopped at Food Lion for 25 years, and exclusively for the past 20 or so years, because they have what I'm looking for. The last 3 or 4 years, there have been 4 items that I've always found at Food Lion they have stopped selling. I understand supply and demand, but the last straw was this morning when I needed rye bread, there was none on the shelves...but there were 2 partial rows of shelves dedicated to some off the wall type bread (can't remember the name, but it's the bread that has a picture of some bearded guy on the package). I mean...really? Can't get a loaf of rye, but the bearded guy gets 2 shelves? I don't know who signs the product contracts, but it's gotten too ridiculous for my blood. Don't get me started on the Tide/Gain monopoly down the household aisle, either. I'm branching out and shopping elsewhere. (Sad about this, as I tend to be a loyal shopper).

The manager there Robin is unprofessional treats her employees like they are slaves doesn't do anything to help anyone yells in front of customers also will not hire when there is a sign on the door that says we are hiring now for any help. The store is a mess there is mildew in the Delhi area case. The bathrooms look like they have never been cleaned there is a man dressed up as a woman that goes in the women's bathroom that is employed there. The only one that is a very good employee he works in the dairy section his name is Eric. I asked him where something was and he showed me he was very nice and head very good customer skills. I noticed that he was wearing a back brace note a very young guy about in his twenties. I am pretty sure that they work him like a dog. When I came from the bathroom his manager was standing there talking to him as if he was illiterate which he seem very intelligent to me. I think that this is ridiculous the way that they treat their employees around customers if they cannot do their own jobs why are they so hard on just a regular employee. As I was coming outside there was two drunk's men that were harassing women and asking people for money for beer. This absolutely disgusted me I will never return to you Food Lion ever again.

Hi yes I was in foodlion in newton grove today around 11:30 and there is this one manager lady in the front in a black vest who was shouting very rude at an employee in front of us customers.. This is not the first time I have witnessed this woman do this.. She is very unprofessional and rude to her employees! She is a big lady with short man cut blonde hair.. I will not be shopping in this location anymore until something is done about this woman! Also the lines are unreal here when there are several employees present just none willing to work.. People need to understand when we come into the store we want to buy are stuff and get out.. How hard is it to run a register and get us out?!
Me and my family went in to the foodlion in newton grove today and there was a manager lady being really disrespectful to an employee and basically screaming at her and you could tell the girl was so embarassed and upset crying.. I eanted to walk over and say something but I knew I would say something I would regret so I decieded to contact headquarters and also post a complaint.. The womans name was cathy and she is short heavy set with short hair.. Im not sure of other girls name but she had black hair up on her head really pretty girl.. I hope this kind of treatment isnt an all the time thing here but I have a feeling it is.. I hope something gets done about the treatment of the employees here!
Do not go into foodlion in newton geove north carolina you will never get rang out! If you go in the morning you will be ok! But if you go after 4 everyone stands around and wont open a register and you will stand in line for what feels like hours! Maybe if they hired people under 300 pounds they would actually want to work! I drive to clinton even though its 30 mins away verses the 5 minutes to newton grove but its worth it newton grove store is a joke! I have complained before about it and it didn't do any good! Every since the victory blvd location started remodeling the products have been all bad and outdated. I purchased a brand new ketchup and a fly was in the ketchup still sealed up didn't even make it off the register yet. Of course with won't be buying anything else from there. I'm in there already 5 times a week. And majority of my food tears my family stomach up after eating or opening things for the first time and [censored] is old. But the dates on them are good. SMH from produce, meats looking and smelling old. Ate chicken salad yesterday Evey Nady stomach turned in my home, toilet trips all for two days. I see a really big lawsuit on foodlions necks if they don't get fresh food or up to date products because they buying either outdated stuff trying to make coins or trying to kill us all off with these old foods but the store brand new on the inside. SMH lost my business period and I am a regular customer. Too bad becauss the staff are awesome.

I was harrassed on my job by a Manager (Nick Bitner) who in February told me that I was terminated from my job and told me to leave the property that I would be receiving termination papers. I called Corporate office which informed me that I was still employed and to return to work. The next 3 month was hell as Mr. Bitner went out his way to make everyday miserable for me. I pulled my 100% everyday but it did not matter, he was out to get me.
On May 15th, I Jerrell Crawley (4975) arrived at work on time and was instructed to pull a jack and began working. The jack was inoperable and I informed my manager - Nick Bitner that I could not use the jack. He did not believe the jack was inoperable and we both went to inspect. During our inspection, Nick Bitner acknowledged the inoperable jack and stated we could stand at the red wall waiting on a new jack. Once Mr. Bitner realized a jack was not coming, He then asked me to follow him to the front office, I chuckled and asked why. He grinned and stated he had something to show me. When we arrived at the office, there were 2 write up for attendance. Mr. Bitner and I had a discussion as I had not been late for the last 2 months. From this point, Mr. Bitner informed me that if I did not sign the 2 write ups, I would not be eligible for the open door policy.
I applied for Unemployment and was denied on 6/8/18 due to someone in the company stating that I was fired due to insubordination. I spoke with Jocelyn in the corporate office on 6/14/18 at which time I was informed that I was still employed in the system until 6/13/18. I have appeal the unemployment decision due this phone call. I received a call from Alicia Bassett and I am awaiting a resolution. I have picture documentation of the plug in my hair from this stress. I have also spoken with a representative with the EEOC.
To make matters worse, They have no paid me my last paycheck. It has been in imagination world since may. I spoke with Payroll in the corporate office today and was informed that I will need to wait an additional 2 week (8/1/18) for my final check. This is the most ludicrous statement I have even heard. Hi, I was checking out of line at the Food Lion in Charlotte Hall, MD yesterday. A cashier by the name of BJ waited on me. He was a tall young black man. I was mesmerized at how tall he was and asked him his height. He wasn't very nice. He then asked me if everyone in my family was short. I really don't know if he was trying to offend me. I was definitely shocked at how the conversation went. He should know that his height isn't a bad thing. He is a good looking kid, I like his height. Anyways, I evidently offended him and shouldn't have asked him about his height - it is definitely a touchy subject. He should however learn how to answer this question in a polite way. Smile and say, I'm 6'8. :-)

I just left the food lion in Rome GA. It was 10:30pm and the manager was constantly telling people the store will be closing soon. Every 10 mins. When I was at the register it was 10:50pm and I was standing near the manager when she told an employee to lock their doors. Several people tried to come in.. Mins you it's 10 mins til closing and the doors were already locked. Still managed was getting on the intercom telling people to make their last purchases and get in line. Too me that is rushing customers and can easily make them go somewhere else to shop. I can understand starting at 10 til.. Then 5 til then say it is now 11:00 we are now closing please make your last purchases. I just thought that was very unprofessional.

I always go to this food lion because of convenience. I also used to work at this store in question so I know customer protocol. As I was leaving with my 3 items I asked the cashier if she was open because she was unpacking the blue toats from the grocery truck delivery. As I got in line the cashiers started talking about Instagram and another coworker as if I'm not even standing there and as I'm asking questions I'm interrupted with trash talking of their coworker. They were saying how clueless and dumb she was. 1 I'm a customer that doesn't want to hear about your Instagram pics, accounts or anything else personal related. 2 I definitely don't want to hear you trashing a teammate. That is unprofessional and just plain wrong to do at work. And after I ask her to stop she wants to get loud and obnoxious as if I'm forcing this convo. It's unprofessional and very discerning that food lion would allow this to happen with NO front-end manager on the floor. Store # is 0211 Birchwood food lion

This driver was on 460 west headed from Lynchburg to Appomattox and was weaving in and out of traffic. There were only about 6 cars. Slamming on brakesand then almost ran into a Tahoe as it was turning left. The driver never let up the Tahoe quickly got out of his way. Then he proceeded to pass out vehicle and cut over in front of us and slammed on his brakesfor no reason because there was no traffic in front of him. The speed limit us 60 and this driver has been running 70 the whole time.

I noticed after several; trips to food lion in Lancaster SC I was being followed while shopping in the produce section by a African american male first name Charles. Harassment continued a few more weeks. I spoke with my boyfriend who is a law enforcement officer and he and I then visited the store. The male would not come near me. My boyfriend was in his civic clothing. I than went back to the store a week later alone and the harassment continued. I then stopped shopping in food lion. I had so enjoyed shopping in that store it is very clean, great food and convenient location from my home. I also noticed that a African american female began to call me out by checking under my shopping cart and told another shopper that was behind me that I put things under there and push them out of the door. I do not remember this person name . I do remember talking with her a few times when I went into the store early morning and bought items for my kids at school. I was teaching school at that time and she knew the school I taught at an asked me to talk with my principal regarding her sons behavior. This is also why I discontinued shopping at food lion period both locations in Lancaster SC. I went into the store months after because I was tired of driving across town and the harassment occurred. I then spoke with the worker, asked him why was he following me around the store. He said that he was not and he did not know what I was talking about
I told him I was going to speak with the manager. He then became Irate and started calling the manager on his walkies talkie. I found the manager coming out of a back area of the store. As I began to explain to the manager what has happened and asked him to pull his video tape. He told me that he has never seen me before and had no knowledge of these incidents. I explained to him, I am telling you know. This worker began to call me expletives one after another and the manager could not stop him. Ii had gotten to the point that this man(worker) was going to punch me until a male customer in the store stopped it by telling the manager that he has heard everything I was saying to him and that if the worker was innocent why is his cursing and attempting to hit this lady. The customer told the worker to step outside and he will deal with him no man should hit a woman or talk to her the way I was being spoken to. The manager apologized to me and told the worker to go back to work. I do not believe that he should remain in the store . I have the eyewitness that male if need so I saw he again and got his name. I believe that I am owed more that a apology. I am contacting you first because I believe that I should give you the opportunity to handle this before I go to the next level. Thanks for your time.

Hi this is casey nobles I work at foodlion on laskinroad virginia beach va store# 1670me and my produce manager omar reed got into a fist fight he made it clear the day befor he was going to fight me so he attacked me and we fought this is not his first altercation for the same reason now he'ssaying he has a witness that he was defending himself and will be getting his job back and I will not I dont think im being treated fairly and im going to sue foodlion for everything they put me threw we both should be fired for fighting especially him from this not being his first altercation I will not leave this alone untill I receive fair treatment I have never been this stressed in my life and if nonthing happens well...
store access to consumers with service animals

My wife just arrived home and informed me that she was told to leave the store listed above because her service dog was not on a lease. The service dog is a 4lb poodle and she had a barrier between the service dog and the shopping cart. She told the young man, the assistant manager, that she did not have to walk the dog on a lease and that there was a barrier there in plain sight. The young man, once again told her that she could not be there without having the service dog on a lease, that it is Food Lion Policy. She asked him to show her the policy stating that service dogs had to always be on a lease inside Food Lion. After about 30min of searching, the young man could not produce a policy stating such. However, he did not change his stance. On her way out of the store, she saw the manager. She told him what happened and he told her that she was indeed, correct, but the damage was already done. It takes a toll on some people to endure situations like this one, especially people like my wife. As a combat veteran, there are certain triggers that are unique to her. This exchange triggered her, needlessly. I am not employed at Food Lion and don't claim to know your policy, but I do know the ADA of 1975 and how it impacts us. Please ensure that we do not experience something like this in the future, as being triggered would not be conducive for any party concerned.

I'm a current associate who, though I enjoy where I work, in produce, on numerous occasions has been forced to abandon my position and help others around the store, which, normally, isn't a problem, but earlier today, I had to refuse to help the MoD unload a grocery truck, as I was dangerously close to 40 hours. Going over that is a big no-no for part-time associates, like myself. Instead of attempting to find another associate who had the hours to spare, she threatened to report me for insubordination. In retaliation, I threatened to report her for forcing me to choose between going over 40 hours (breaking the rules), or disobeying our manager (also breaking the rules). Her behaviour was completely unreasonable.
discontinued items and high prices
I use to buy ham in pieces for years, you changed brands and now stopped all together, also a 24 oz pack of sliced ham in the meat section, discontinued. Fish went sky high when you changed packaging. Eggs are priced out of sight.. Milk is 75Cents higher than other stores. I use to shop Food lion 100% but not any more. You are not competing anymore

My husband and I went to get supplies needed for my mothers 40th birthday party. We had gotten everything we needed we headed to the registers. The girl at register 5 was done with her customer so we went on through, at that time the customer service manager tried to get my husbands attention but him only being able to hear out of one ear makes it pretty hard to get his attention. She wanted us to go to another register. I decided no we were already at the register and my husband had already started unloading the cart when I started walking into the lane. As I was the Manager on Duty had a smart remark saying "I hate it when people are [censored]". I worked at that same food lion for 2 years and yes it was a good first job but the drama and the way people act should definitely change. A lot of the people I worked with left after I did because it got to be too much drama and I was taking it home. To me a manager on Duty should not act like that or say things like that to customers!
Unethical behavior
AS I was going to the check-out line . A Cashier from Register # 2 came up to me and said I can take you over here. I Stated (NO That's ok I'm going over here to Register # 3 .He said I don't have any one in line . Told him I was staying in line #3.He went back to his register and stood their saying You know Discrimination here is never going to stop . It's really bad here ! I looked up and said to him do you have a problem ?He stated "Do you ", I said yes If I hear anymore [censor] about Discrimination I will follow A complaint ". An Employee that makes comments like this to customers, Should not be working with the public. It is my right to go to any Register of My choice and get checked out, Or purchase ant product I wish to purchase . Note The cashier that was working register #2 was relived by head cashier to use the restroom. I did not make any racial statements to either one of your Employees . I raised three boys that were Black /White .
I feel that A person that will start running there mouth like this, He should not be work with customers in the food industry .I will inform all my family and friends in the area about this incident . And shop a store that employees Keep their personal opinions the themselves .
This store is horrible!
They don’t like couponers, n very rude!
They take up time tryibgvto read each coupon, n customers in line start getting nasty, cause a couponers is holding up a line!
It’s crazy cause your store says it’s coupon family friendly coded, but your managers insist on reading each coupon! To my understanding, , manufacture give the face value plus back to the store, so why are your stores harassing couponers?
