I purchased an exercise chair from Guthy Renker for 6 monthly payments of $50. They charged me the first month and then I started receiving notices saying I owed the full $300. I called over and over to resolve this and was told it was a glitch and to disregard it.

Then they sent it to a collection agency, even though I was paying for it and was never even remotely delinquent. They said this was also a glitch but that they couldn't do anything about it. The only way to have them fix this issue and get my account out of collections is to return the chair, even though it was a "glitch."

Will they pay for shipping? No. Will they even send me a box? No. The chair is big, heavy, and doesn't fit in any standard box. The only place that has one that fits it is UPS, and they have one that is too big and would need to be modified. The box costs $44. When you add modifications and packaging, that brings it to approximately $100. Then about $200 to ship such a heavy item.

So what Guthy Renker told me was my only option is to pay $300 to send back a $300 chair so that my name might be removed from collections where they accidentally sent me in the first place because they refuse to do anything else to fix this. The last supervisor I spoke to actually had the nerve to tell me that I purchased the chair in good faith and they fulfilled that. So to Guthy Renker, it is apparently good faith to mess up your customers' accounts, repeatedly ingnore requests to fix the issue, send the account to collections when it isn't delinquent and then make the customer return a giant piece of exercise equipment at their own expense...then, and only then, will they try to fix my account and call off the collection agency and fix the mess that they caused in the first place.

Wow- that is really something... I'm trying to close an "account" with Guthy Renker right now and I must say I'm really getting edgy now that I've read your post. I'll let you know how it works out for me.

I will never order anything on TV again, I thought Guthy Renker was supposed to be the leader and set a
good example but after checking the complaints I will never order anything on TV again, after 3 lousy experiences I've learned my lesson. Don't buy anything on TV even when they say get your money back for any
reason.

yeah what a load of crap..it has taken me 3mnths to get my refund chq back, , they sent me an incorrect shipment I didnt order they... took the money from my card (unauthorised) and then I had to PAY the return bloody item postage...It cost me freight for getting back my own money they took out... 3mnths of getting fobbed off ..put into their collections when they OWED ME money and ON TOP OF THAT they kept telling me that they had sent the chq..###... I am now on my 3rd supposed chq, and still NO MONEY..but I bombarded them with emails today at least 20 ..even then they dont return calls or emails, so I waited on the phone and didnt allow the operators to fob me off.. still no bloody chq, but Im waiting one more day before the ### hits the fan.. you see I have a plan..
I will NEVER EVER deal with these people again.. upper managment is a joke and you will never get any answers or a good outcome with these people..

THEY SUK BIG TIME

Waht makes me laugh is they say they use the calls for trainiig purposes...### listen to all of mine over the last few mnths and start paractising the ### you are feeding to yr client Guthy bloody Renker...

I am telling anyone who will listen now.. as I think they are dispicable in their customer NON F*&NG service

oh my god the same thing happened to me... they are usless.. THEY TALK A LOAD OF CRAP AND NEVER FOLLOW THRU..you can never get anything acheived because they make it impossible for anyone to deal with upper managment..it is all left to the dumb phone operator who knows jack ###..

Guthy Renker has the best customer service, maybe if you talked to the cutomer service people as if they were real people you could get somewhere. Most of you who call in are either old as hell or drunk house wives that are pissed off at the husbands who need someone to vent to. All of you can suck it

When I ordered the WEN hair care I was offered a free sample of Endless Youth vitamins, so I figured why not, there free! Well after that free sample, about a couple of weeks later they sent me a three months supply, and charged me $32. So I called customer service, and after about six attempts to talk me out of canceling the vitamins he tells me that I recieved a three month supply so I am going to be charged 2 more times! I am so mad. Never again am I going to be buying anything through Guthy Renker!

I purchased the Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty and returned it w/in the 60 days - delivery confirmation March 18th. It is now May 26th and I have yet to receive my refund as promised on the commercial and on the phone. The company has NEVER called me to say they had difficulty w/ the refund; however each time I call that is their excuse. I have called five times now. All of the cust serv reps who answer assure me they have solved whatever problem they had with issuing the refund and give me a certain no. of days until I receive it. The first one said two weeks, stalling me from calling for that time. Of course the refund never comes and they never call, so I have to call again, this time its a week. Next call I am told it will be 3 -5 days. Finally, I was told today that they now have to issue the refund by check b/c my card is now deleted in their system. I expressed my complete frustration, and suspicion that this is a scam. I also informed them that I would be turning this over to the Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Protection and Better Business Bureau. She then told me that there was nothing else she could do for me but put the request in for a refund by check. I said, you have never called to inform me of any issues before, will you call me now if there is a problem. She would not say they would and I said, how long should it take and she said, a couple more weeks. Then she thanked me for calling!

A few secrets to everyone...you want to cancel your acct -- just tell agent that you do not agree with the TERMS & CONDITIONS...acct is automatically cancelled. Do not want to pay for return shipping ask for a RETURN LABEL...if you live in Canada - there is not a return label to send. Sorry. If you try Proactiv or Proactiv+ and you just want to try it without being in the continuity...cxl before 28 days after first order cause you will automatically get shipped a 90d supply; if its Wen...cancel before 30 days otherwise you will get a 90d supply. You do not have to have a credit card on file. One way to know if your acct has been cancelled you should receive an email in 24 hrs regarding the cancellation. Only times that you will get an email from GR is on your very first order or when you cancel acct. **Hopefully this information will help someone**

how to cancel: disagree with the terms & conditions...if done properly you will get an email confirmation ltr in 24 hrs that acct is cancelled.
shipping fees: don't want to pay for return shipping; request return label.
Order on phone or online: its going to automatically put you into a membership. With proactive you have 28 days before next shipment; With Wen 30 days.
Credit card: if you do not want authorized charges do not put credit card on file.
