Membership at Gym Company

I signed up for membership in March with Gym Company Jacaranda in Rietfontein Pretoria and paid the R200 0nce off payment on the 10th of March and they promised that my contract will start in May, only for it to start in August. In August when I was supposed to receive a tag I was informed that they cant pick up my R200 fee they cant give me access to the gym, I need to bring in proof of payment and at the same time they already deducting monthly payments of R299. I provided proof of payment to a lady named Dimakatso and I asked her if I could get access to the gym since I provided proof of payment. She said no not yet they will give me a call once they have sorted it out on their side. End of September I reversed the debit order since. Now am receiving threats but I will be blacklisted for non payment. so I need assistance in the matter. If the Gym is denying me access what am I paying for as the gym is not honoring and providing service to me?
Desired outcome: I need my two months membership fees refunded as the gym never rendered any services to me and contract cancelled
Maintenance not done regularly but the club is quick to block us on the entrance
What happen is the club debit in my account twice so I disputed the other one thinking that it's what usually happens with this debit orders but I was suprised when I was so quick to be blocked and I even asked to pay the next day but they refused to let me in. But I and other clients have been so patient with the club not doing maintance check regularly mostly machines don't work because of they are broken but still we are required to pay maintance fee, of which I don't even see the maintance there's a part that doesn't have a mirror thare are 4 machines not working, 1 toilet not working, 1 shower mot working sonor not yet working since the club was open and we have been patiently waiting thy said the 1st of December now its the 2nd still not working.
When I spoke to the floor manager (Tsibi) as they call him,.. about it he simply said if am not happy with the service I can reverse my member fee and go stay at home of which even his response is not acceptable especially when you talking to a client that is not happy. I am not happy about the treatment the gym now is stuffy because the air-conditioners are not On I don't know why is that because it's not healthy at gym to be stuffy people are sweating we need a fresh air.
Desired outcome: Every member should be given a grace period of max 7 days and it should show on the system that you are under a grace period after that then you can be blocked. Not just to miss a payment today and tomorrow you are blocked.
Overcharged gym fee for November month
my name is Timothy Mthembu a member of Gym Company at Bree Street Newtown Johannesburg. I have been over charged this month, I paid my monthly fee plus the so called maintianance fee. within a week they debited from my account more money. I raised this with their accounts department but they just ignore my Complain. I tried several times to call the branch manager but his phone is never answered.
Desired outcome: I need my money back as i do owe them a anything, I they must refund my money plus bank charges because there was no need to debit my account as my account with them was up to date . i do not owe them any money.

It has happened so many times when I come to thee gym in the morning between 04:00-05:00 where there's no one at the front desk to assist with scanning the barcode to start my workout and other times get get helped, then we workout. By the time we want to scan again after finishing the workout the person at the front desk manages to start the workout progress again and then we do not get our vitality points.
Desired outcome: Please assist with the scanning issue and no one at the front desk.
Negligent management and putrid service received
Flora Centre Gym Company: I signed up for the platinum contract x 2 in October 2021, but this with provision that I would downgrade in Jan 2022 to the R199 x 2 contracts, and this was subject to downgrading at a cost of R500 per contract, I confirmed this over and over with the sales rep, in Jan 2022 when I was prepared to downgrade was then told by the finance team that the information received was incorrect and that the calculation is based on taking the balance of the 3year contract multiplied by whatever percentage.
I then immediately informed the manager of the club and was told this was all hearsay, and my complaint was disregarded.
Since the finance team was aware of this type of occurrences of misinformation, it was then suggested that the sales rep would find someone to take over the contract, month after month I would make contact with the sale rep to follow up on what was promised, to date he has not managed to find a replacement, I have met with different senior staff members, and which not resolution was provided, and was advised that the sales rep is not allowed to find a replacement for the contracts, this continued until October 2022, until I stopped payment, and demanded that I speak to the regional manager.
Upon my first conversation with the regional manager, I was advised that he would do the investigation and would arrive at a decision, he eluded to the fact that the staff from Flora Centre are changing their story, and who is to say that this result would be in my best interest. To date no one from Flora Centre gym company has made any contact with me, i've had to follow up, and chase up for a resolve. I have made it know that since I have spent around R7 500 on these contracts, contracts that should have been null and voided from the beginning, I have made it clear that I want a refund on my money eg (R798pm - R398) x 11 months, I consider the calculation to be fair and just.
A month later I had to make a follow up with the regional manager, since not a single soul has bothered to contact me, and probably assumed that I would go away, the regional manager set up a teams meeting, the meeting established that my claim was not hearsay, the sales rep was honest enough to own admission to the R500 charge to down grading of contracts, but was not offered the refund by Manager. I have a right to my refund, and am not happy with the zero commitment from the Flora Centre Gym Company.
I have made it known that I want my refund, and the terrible customer service received needs to be noted. Since the contracts should have been voided, I am no longer interested in being a member of Flora Centre Gym Company, the service received is horrendous to say the least.

Contract terms for unemployed individuals
I am concerned about how gym employees are going about registering unemployed customers who do not produce proof of source of payment and at the end legal steps threatened to be taken against them. Employees seemed to be eager to get more registrations to the company without transparency of information shared with customers. Apparently when I went to enquire about how my son was registered while the was no salary I was informed that he was registered as self-employed! Registrations of this kinds are infringing customers rights and causing unnecessary debts and even someone was looking forward to informing customers to the gym, they turn to see lots of unfairness. How do I go about telling people about the gym, I also had a thought of informing media and taking this to my lawyers because it it not fair. I plead with the head office to please intervene and proper training be given to employees about finding customers. I am happy with creation of jobs to youths but concerned if this poor youths are getting payments from the number of customers they register to the company because if that is the case they are so desperate to register without knowing consequences the gym is not aware of in destroying the future of other unemployed youths.
Desired outcome: Proof of payment methods should be necessary in registering customers to avoid unnecessary misuse of gym resources and more customers not paying their terms
Violatio of my financial rights
on the 15 of November 2022, I paid my membership fee plus the so call maintenance fee, to my surprise on the 16th, the R199. was
taken from my account, when going through my bank statement
I noted that you wanted more than you debited. I raised this with your accounts office at Bree Gym Company this morning, they failed to explain why if I happen to miss just few hours not paying my installment your system will quicky deny me access gym but failed to update immediately that the account is up to date. I therefore want my money taken from my account including Bank charges which amount to R11,50.

So August 2022 i was in tshwane mall and im called by this lady to tell me about her offer from gym company.
Im offered a free one month membership to use the gym and i use the gym.
And so the problem here is that one month later i was told that to cancel my membership i juss have to cancel my debit order on muh card.That was a lie.Now admin tells me that i owe R1000.00 to cancel my gym.All this doesn't make sense

They deducted a tag fee twice / Complaint

I initially signed up for 12 months at the Gym company in Randburg Square paid tag fee and the normal minimum they rate, however I later discovered that my stay would be extended so I opted for a longer term contract when I did they advised at the branch that nothing would change beside the amount and the term but they went on to deduct another tag fee which I had already paid for and received, I’ve called in a few times but with no assistance. I want my refund back!

Unauthorised debit order after official cancellation and subsequent illegal black listing as a result
I cancelled my son's gym membership in person and in writing by signing the Boskruin Gym Company's cancellation form 2 days before the contact expired on the 31 October 2019. I paid the R99 fee for the November 2019 notice period. I was then charged R199 maintenance fee for the new year and a further 3 months debit orders of R99 for Dec 2019, Jan 2020 and Feb 2020. I reversed the debit orders, rightly so. Then I received a phone call on the 19th of August 2022 saying that they have blacklisted my son due to non-payment. I immediately phoned the accounts department and emailed proof of cancellation. I was promised action, however on the 4th of October 2022 when I checked in, nothing had been done. I was then bullied into paying the R199 maintenance fee and the December 2019 monthly fee by the General Manager. I assume they do not understand their own contracts and cancellation clauses. I paid the fees, as insisted if I wanted the blacklisting lifted, on the 5th of October and was assured that the Jan 2020 and Feb 2020 charges would be credited and that they would clear my son from blacklisting. I have called and emailed almost every day since and neither the accountant or the General Manager will provide me with confirmation of the blacklisting removal or even a statement of account reflecting a zero balance so that I can make an application at the credit bureau myself. They keep blaming the head office but won't give me the head office's details to follow up. It has been over 2 months since I paid the account just to get my son's name cleared, even though the fees were fraudulently charged, and my son is still blacklisted, and my hands are tied.
Desired outcome: I would like a statement of account reflecting a zero balance so that I can apply for the blacklisting to be removed.
I am currently going thought the exact same thing! Their doors should be SHUT! Apparently its been an ongoing thing, and i unfortunately found proof too late...

My phone lost and your deducting
On the 4th of July 2022,I lost my phone at the gym in Pretoria central.I didn't even receive any kind contact from them regarding my phone all they told me is that they checked the cctv footage,because am studying online and I can't stay without a phone I took my last money and bought a phone since am studying ko unisa,now all if a sudden you deducted 260 from my account my last money I don't even have a penny since am trying to get on my feet...I would like to cancel my gym membership.I don't think you care about your client's well being that phone cist me 3000...now I don't even work as I lost my job now and all my money went to buying a new phone I don't think I can do this,I would like to cancel
Unauthorised debit order deductions
I registered my profile online but did not authorise them to debit my account. I met with the Manager after i was sent a message to say that im 2 months in arrears and i had never been to the gym as i got no communication from the gym except 2 months later to say i was in arrears. The manager then explained to me that they had some issues with the system but that she will get this sorted and ponce sorted she will contact me to meet to sign up. 3 months later i realised that they still where debiting my account and after numerous calls to the manager and the admin manager who could not assist me at all and was really good at promising on a few occasions to call me back and never did and even an email to the GM (which was never answered, i called again. This time i was told i recieved a welcome email with a code which gave them authourisation, when i told her that i never recieved an email and requested that she resend it to me so i can see exactly when it was sent i still have not recieved it.
Desired outcome: As i have never authorised this debit order and they have yet to send me any form of authorisation on my side, i want all my money refunded.
Equipment
Gym company at Bara has no water and when they do have water, the water is cold. They recruit members everyday but their equipment is always broken and outdated. You have more than 3 bicycles in the spinning class that are not working. The Boxise class has dirty and outdated equipment, but the biggest problem is that there is no increasing of these...

I was denied access to the gym on August 2022 @ rustenburg gym company (Pty) Ltd. This was due to the eft/debit order of R100 for a tag that was not reflecting on their system, the R199 subscription fee eft/debit order was reflecting.
I was unable to gym for the whole month off August even after presenting the eft/debit order to the manager to show that the R100 was debited on my bank statement.
The manager of a Rustenburg Gym did her investigation and found that indeed the debit order/eft went through, so the mistake/ error was on company's side.
So August month has already ended and i cannot afford to forfeit the R199 subscription fee.
Please be informed that i will be requesting a contract cancellation for member ship number: 19347 (Letlhogonolo Peter Seeme: [protected])
Unless i am offered a on month free gym.

Paying for a tag when my one works
I transferred from Flora to randburg gym company and I was that I must R500 for the transfer only found after a month they charged me R300 saying that the R100 is for a new which I didn't know about and it's not even written on my contract that I must buy a new so the R100 was taken without my consent so which it was stolen
I was that since my tag works the R100 will be an advance but they say I owe R99 I paid R100 for this since I was told to do so

Being told now in July of 2022 that I have an outstanding invoice of Dec 2021.
I joined Gym Company Pinetown in September 2021. I signed debit order agreement for them to debit on the 30th of each month. Gym Company would go into my bank account on any day (other than the agreed date) and take money from my account. My bank automatically cancelled the debit order, Angel from Gym Company called me in December 2021 to say my debit order did not go through. I then printed my bank statement and went to speak to Angel only to realise that there was money in my account but Gym Company did not debit on the agreed date. I then resorted in paying them cash. I paid by card on that day in Dec 2021. Yesterday 25/07/2022 I received a call from Noluthando from Gym Company she phones me with an accusatory attitude saying I owe Gym Company for Dec 2021. In shock I asked her why was I allowed to enter the gym for 8 months if I owe the gym? Why was I not blocked from entering the gym? Noluthando says no Gym company was conducting their audit now in July 2022 and picked up that I have an outstanding invoice for Dec 2021. Today 26/07/2022 I went to Gym to speak to Noluthando, she could not explain why the Dec invoice is being raised in July of the following year. She then called the club manager Tamera. Tamera came and tried to explain why I was being billed for Dec 2021 in July 2022. She said its a system error but I must pay the R199 for Dec 2021. I told Tamera I will not pay twice for Dec because I've already paid. Tamera gave me a horrible attitude and told Noluthando to block my entrance, even though I am not owing for July 0f 2022. I need to know why am I being billed twice for Dec and why is Tamera instructing that I must be barred from entering the gym. Please note when Tamera came to talk to me she did not introduce herself to me, even when I asked her for her name she refused to give me her name. I told her I will find out her name and I will be writing a review to Hellopeter and consumer watch dog. This is common practise at Gym Company in Pinetown that members are charged twice or they go into members accounts and debit any amount they feel like debiting. This is illigal & unacceptable!
Membership cancellation
26 July 2022, 16h00.
I had told Martin (manager) that the reason I am cancelling my membership is because I simply do not want the membership anymore which I repeated 3 times.
He decided that I was being rude, upon my apology he decided to abuse his power and not process the cancellation. He has requested that I rather come to the gym and he will do it then which I have done before and was not assisted. In addition he refused to give me his name.
I am not sure what the process is, but how somebody can simply say that he will not assist me because of a miscommunication is beyond me. This only validates my decision to terminate my membership as I have never experienced such abuse of power.
I then called back the number and I was told that he is difficult to deal with sometimes.
Desired outcome: I have already filed a request for cancellation form, so I would like cancellation to be processed and an apology.

Received 2 debit orders by just enquiring about gym membership. No debiCheck mandate approved by me and I never ordered them to deduct on my account or that I'm joining.

I called the gym in Brackenhurst to downgrade my membership to R199 seeing that I can not cancel the membership, I haven't been going to the gym for months now and I don't live in that area anymore. I have relocated to the Western Cape, I was told that I need to pay almost R2000 to downgrade. This is pathetic really. This gym doesn't have anything WOW about it, it is full all the time one cant even attend class and is not even very hygienic.
I am disgusted by the level of service received from the staff at the gym. I have lodged a formal complaint on Hello Peter and will continue to give the gym a bad review every opportunity I get.
I am paying R399 and twice a year my account gets debited with an additional R199 for what I don't know. This if [censored]ing day light robbery. One should have to cancel a membership at any given time due to financial reasons. As it is the South African economy is [censored]ed and we get robbed by the gyms as well,.
IF i don't receive a response on my email i will take this matter further.
