Three years ago in June 06 Steve and Nancy Herrington went into Haynes Brother Furniture in Ormond Beach, to pick out new furniture for a home we were currently building. Steve and Nancy picked out a bedroom set for master bedroom, living room furniture and dining room furniture. Floyd was our salesman. After our selection we put 10, 000.00 down on a credit card (GE money bank), which was applied for at Haynes. That day Steve also showed me a bedroom set he would like for our 2-year-old son. With Floyd standing with us I said, “No way in hell would I buy that set for a child.” Floyd the salesman said, ” I’m sure this set is discontinued.” That was the end of discussion on the disputed bedroom furniture that day.
The next couple of months Steve Herrington was in the store about 10 times, getting exact measurements on our selected items, inquiring about patio furniture and changing a round coffee table to a smaller square table. During this period that Steve came to the store Floyd asked Steve, “What about the furniture for your boy?” Steve said to Floyd “see if it’s still available and get me prices. (due to the fact Floyd said it was discontinued). Nothing else was mentioned on this bedroom set, ever.
Steve and/or Nancy Herrington never discussed with Floyd or anyone else at Haynes store about the cost on this bedroom set or even what items were included in the set. We never agreed to or even signed to buy the bedroom set!
Steve and Nancy Herrington always knew that our balance for what furniture we picked out was $ 19, 000.00, and 10, 000.00 down payment, for a total of $ 29, 000.00
In Dec.08 we moved into our home and needed just the master bedroom set in which I put on our Bank of America credit card for $ 4, 830.70
On Feb.26, 09 Steve went in to Haynes store to put the balance for the living room and dining room furniture on My Chase card. Steve Herrington calls me and said “We can put the balance on another GE money with 0 payment for 12 month. I said fine. 20 minuets later a women from Haynes called and said, “ we need your Chase Credit card number” I (Nancy Herrington) said I thought the balance was all going on one Chase card? A Haynes office women said, “ I don’t know what’s going on I walked in on the middle of this.” I gave her the Credit Card Number due to the fact I assumed the GE card was a no go. Steve gets home late, I asked him, ”when is the furniture coming?” Steve says Saturday. Friday Steve goes on a fishing trip at 5 the next morning, we did not discuss furniture.
Saturday Feb.28, 09 when the furniture came Steve informed me we did get the GE card. I told Steve to call Floyd at Haynes and see what is going on. Floyd never returned the call.
The next day, Sunday March 1st, 09 we went to Haynes to straiten the mess up about the GE card (I figured Haynes Store forgot we put ten thousand down on the GE Card in 2006), and to let them know we got two bar stools and three dining room chairs that do not fit and would like to exchange for other items.
When we got to the Haynes store, Floyd was about to leave informing us it was his day off. Steve and Floyd talked and Floyd went behind the counter. Floyd proceeded to tell us, “You have more furniture coming”, Steve and I asked “Uh What?” Floyd walked us over to this bedroom set and I told Floyd, “there is no way that is going to fit in our house! “ Then we asked, what did we supposedly buy in this set and when did we buy this set? Floyd said an amour, King bed, dresser, night table and a mirror. I again
said, the set would not fit in our home.
Floyd instructed us we need to talk to the owner of the furniture store, Steve Haynes. Steve Haynes said, “that there was absolutely nothing he could do, that your husband wanted this furniture”. Haynes told us he would personally come to our home and move our furniture around to make this fit and to put a few pieces in one room and a few in another room. Haynes also said, “ I had to purchase this $ 14, 000.00 from another distributor and they will not buy this set back.” Steve Haynes also said “do what you have to do!”
Steve Herrington asked “ I would like to see where I signed for the furniture. Floyd tells Steve he ordered the bedroom set in June 06. Steve Haynes also said he would have us take a lie detector tests to prove Steve Herrington did want the bedroom furniture. I then Yelled, Shut up to Steve Haynes, Steve Haynes said, “Ok I’m done with you people” I yelled,
We never bought that furniture and we never wanted it. Steve Haynes storms outside where he has a tent sale going on.
Steve and Nancy proceed to leave, Nancy stops the truck and rolled down window tells Steve Haynes again “the furniture does not even fix in our sons bedroom.” Steve Haynes says roll up your window and keep going.
Steve or Nancy Herrington did not buy or want this furniture; this furniture never got delivered to our home. It’s at the store where it belongs.
We now find that we paid twice for the furniture we ordered back in 2006.
Once on chase card and also on the GE Money card.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
When I was looking at furniture I also had Floyd "helping" us. We ordered a sectional, that we "pushed" into a little. He was very rude and pushy and really didn't want to give us any space to discuss what we wanted to do. We really liked the furniture so we brushed him off and went with it. When I got home and shopped around I found a similar one $200.00 cheaper. I called back asked if they would match the price I was told at first b/c it wasn't the same they would take $50.00 off-when I told them never mind I'll just go there-Floyd said he would match the price. Next thing I knew they tried to deliver the furniture the next day. I wasn't even home nor had even paid for it yet. We weren't setting up a delivery time until it was paid in full. Two days later I went to pay and set up a delivery time, No discounts had been applied-not even the $50.00 that was first offered. So I told them to cancel the order. However I had put down a $100.00 deposit that I can't get back, but can be applied to another purchase. Its been seven months and I still haven't gone into spend it, I'd prefer to never step into the store again. I was very disappointed.
Hayne's brothers is a typical retail furniture store. In my opinion, what sets them above most is service. Lester, one of their service techs has become and "old friend" dealing with recliners that suffer from my 6'5" 350# frame. without complaint he always finds a way to "make it better" and more comfortable for me
Jeff at oond store pretends to be a Haynes. Terrible customer service. Took out money. Did not get furniture for 8 weeks versus 4 promised. Would not work with us in an emergency situation when we live 500 miles away. Owner resolved very nicely. Ormond BeCh personnel are terrible. Except Annalise our sales person. Feel sorry for her. Won't do business there again. Rude and do not appreciate customers.
Don't buy form them if you want your furniture anytime soon. I ordered a sofa and it took 7 weeks for it to come in another 2 weeks for them to deliver it to me...will NEVER buy from the again...
Ordered a sofa and was told that it would be in 4-5 weeks. Took 8 weeks to get in and 2 week for them to deliver it...so I will NEVER buy from these people ever again.
