I owned a credit card with HDFC in 2005 and i have surrendered the card in the same year. After one year my saving account was put on hold by HDFC credit card department saying i had to pay Rs.5000/- to continue have access to my savings account.

I never had any outstanding payment when i surrendered the card. After one year i get a letter that i have a outstanding payment of Rs.5000/-. This is ridiculous... HDFC is cheating its own customers.

Dear friend, dont leave them like that. U can always go to consumer court and file a suit against them. In the future what ever u do with bank... dont rely on verbal commitments, always go for written ones.

The card no.[protected] has been discontinued from April 2004. The bank did many unethical things with the client, like issuing a DD of Rs5000/as loan without the consent, secondly started charging EMI on it, the major unethical thing was the balance was adjusted with the points earned without informing. On 27.5.2004 the balance amount of Rs1226/ cheque no.469554 of State Bank of Hyderabad was issued & the matter closed. I have the bank statement with me as a proof.

Yesterday,20.3.2007, I get a call from a person named Manish Rana & claimed an advocate. He is being appointed by the HDFC bank to extort the due from me. Though I had no dues. He had been using abusive language to me & respecting a women. He lacked basic decency to talk to any woman. I contacted the bank & actually the bank authorities have not informed the concern department of my discontinuity. They went on charging the fees as dues. The most offensive is the behavior of the man. As per the Supreme Court order, no such actions can be done. The court has every right to sue. If there is any grievences of the bank, they can decently do that. I have lodged complain with the Consumer Rights Protection council and Banking Ombudsman.

I agree with this person. Absolutely HDFC Bank Credit Card Division is so careless Customer Care is so worst & Executives are so liar (cheater). Why I am just writing this because I am also facing that kind of problem with the same bull ### bank and after one year my problem is stuck as it is. They never think know about kind of responsibilities they have and how to tackle the customer. Overall the HDFC Bank Credit Card division is so worst in comparison of the other Banks.

I am facing the similar issue. HDFC rarely sends the statement to me. Even without that based upon my purchases, i was paying the minimum amount due every month till which i stopped when it became clear that the amount is stagnant and increasing. I called HDFC several times with the assurance that it will be taken care of. The card expired in Dec-06 and I refused to accept the new card send by HDFC after which they send the card to an address in Delhi where I was staying earlier. This shows the deceit nature of the HDFC. They somehow wanted the new card to be taken so that the account can continue. I started getting calls from collection agents. I wanted to do a settlement. They told me the amount would be 26 k without any explanation on how did they come to 26 K as settlement. My bills shows a total sum of 20 k only. No explanation form HDFC. The third party agents started calling and using abusive languages. I filed an FIR in Bangalore and contacted the RBI appointed ombudsman. The investigation is still underway. I used to get call from 080-[protected].

I request all the people to come together so that we can have an effective forum against this.

I have similar experiences with HDFC Credit Card. They solicited me and persuaded me to accept their credit card in July 2005. They sent me an introductory promotional offer of 5 % cash back on all purchases for one month. Their letter did NOT mention any upper limit on the cash back. I made purchases of Rs. 21,000/- in the first month. I paid the bill in full. Two months later they gave me a cash back of only Rs. 125/-. They say that there was an upper cap which they had not mentioned earlier.

Can any one advise on how to contact the ombudsman or the procedure for going to consumer redressal forum.

I am a user of HDFC credit card for at least 05 years and I have followed the rules of the bank. Last month I did the payment by cheque but as per ICICI bank message payment could not be done due to drawer's signature. Today I got a call of Mr. Amit from HDFC bank collection center (Phone No. 011-[protected]). He behaved with me very badly and right now I am feeling ashamed that I am having the credit card of HDFC Bank. Although manager form collection center apologized for his behavior but I would like to mention that it will not make difference to your bank I will definitely close this at the earliest and I will also try to take this matter in the media. Further I would like to mention that If anything wrong happens to me or to my family, HDFC Bank and Mr. Amit will be responsible for that.

The purview / guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India

(and being followed to the 'T' by HDFC bank)

Thanks for informing the real professional method chosen by HDFC Bank to grow in the market.

I, myself and my entire family were also victimised by HDFC Bank.
I want to share my bitter experiences and trouble caused by HDFC Bank in a Professional way following the rule set by RBI.

The Professional way for the Collection Method by HDFC BANK :

The usual course of business to remind of payment obligation, follow-up calls and the professional method by HDFC,
the concerned Bank's representative initiates intimidating phone-calls to the victim's family in his absence by making unprofessional way of a routine payment follow-up call.

The concerned Bank pretend themselves some time senior police officer or some time a senior lawyer from Patiala Court .

The concerned Bank unleashes repeated threatening to the victim's wife as well as the entire family that they were coming to seal off the home (of the victim) in any moment of time.
They repeatedly scare the victim's family by saying that “ Right now, we are at Jamia Police Station so get the entire belonging out of home
within an hour and we are coming with a police to seal off the house”.

The concerned Bank calls the victim's home from the phone numbers (mentioned below).

HDFC Bank rushes to the victim's account (Saving Account : [protected]) and withdraws the entire Savings (Fund TRF-DM-[protected])on 23/11/1004 without serving any prior notice to the victim.

The boastful calls made by HDFC's Rep over the phone with threatening
like "" I am in Jamia Nagar police Station with the court order for House-to be sealed. So get out of house immediately with your belongings or deposit

the outstanding within 2 hours...

Those calls came from G I Dogra(claiming to be a senior Advocate, Phone NO: [protected] ) threatening to seal the home.

Similar calls made claiming to be from Tees Hazari Court (Phone NO :[protected], [protected]).

Again, a call was received claiming to be from Gurhgaon Police Station (Phone No: [protected]).

What a mockery! One of the call came from Sangeeta PS claiming herself to be a Senior Judge(Phone NO: [protected], [protected], [protected], [protected] ).

So I hope that when these guidelines adopted by HDFC BANK in this victim's case that is me, are referred to the RBI, these professional ways and professional methods will help RBI strengthen the Economy of the Banks concerned in a very HUMANE and HEALTHY way!

Please understand ! that I have fully and vey well understood the guidelines set by RBI...and applied and followed by HDFC BANK?

So this is the professinal attitude of HDFC Bank.
