Ruined by poor localization job
Let me start off by saying I loved the first Hero Emblems game. Seeing the sequel finally release after so many years in development was an amazing surprise. And honestly, aside from the random encounter rate being somewhat obnoxious, the gameplay is perfectly serviceable.
...but it's honestly difficult to get through the cutscenes when the translation is marred by incorrect grammar, weird word choice, and bad writing in general. I'd be perfectly content unlocking traits, getting better gear, and running around the map finding secret chests if not for the godawful story that fails to live up to its (cliched) potential. One of the characters in particular grates on my nerves but that's a matter of personal preference.
With the new skip button added, you can enjoy the match-3 strategy and ignore the plot.
Amazing mash up of genres, needs retuning
I love the mix of RPG and match-3 components, but I have to admit that the game is tuned towards making you take just a little too long on every quest, journey, and boss battle.
The game takes about 50 hours to beat, but I think it'd be better if it only took 25.
iCloud sync
One of the things i liked in first game is that possibility to after deleting it from the device for whatever reason, but after deciding to reinstall it, you can pickup where you stopped, because it's being iCloud synced. Mo progress loss.
This one, even though the “iCloud sync" option is visibly checked and i can see it uses space on iCloud account just as fist version - just can't. I tried few times. Somehow seems now it's only works for switching devices while it's installed on at least one i guess?
Everything I Wished For and More
This game has been a long time in the making. I loved the first one and played it into the ground, but the sequel takes everything that made the first one so great and makes it even better. This is so worth your time that it hurts. Do yourself a favor and click the buy button right now and get playing.
Fun and absorbing!
Was drawn to the game by the cute, simple character designs. Gameplay is fun and compelling and the difficulty as you progress poses a fun challenge. Only real con is that the translation is stiff — readable enough to follow the story, at least, but it can be distracting.
Great
It's better than the original and I loved the original and it improves upon it every way. I haven't had to grind much and even when a boss seems impossible I happen to pull a win out most of the time because you are able to switch out downed characters and let them recover. It's a match three so obviously there is luck involved. About ten hours in and I'm having a blast
Long Awaited
The gameplay is a lot of fun. Been waiting for this for ages. Unfortunately the poor translation weights the whole things down. It seems like machine translation. Text is stiff and awkward and doesn't sound natural at all. It takes a lot away from the experience. Sometimes it is even confusing, like when the mage refers to lightning as “fire from the sky".
Best Match-3
I played Puzzle Quest back in the day, and I've been playing Gems of War for 6 years. But this? This is absolutely the best match-3 I've ever played. Everything about this game is amazing, from the RPG, to the matching game, to the art. I don't know how good the story is going to be, as I'm not that far yet, but frankly I don't care; you don't come to a match-3 game for the story, but even still what's presented so far is better than most attempts. I will probably look up the precursor title after I'm done with this one (but I hope it will take a while to finish). I sincerely hope that there will be a sequel to this. This is easily the best money I've ever spent on a phone game. I wish more developers would sell games instead of resorting to ads and micro-transactions, and it's exciting that this game doesn't have any of those issues. Pure offline goodness, so you can easily play on a plane. Kudos to the developers; I'm grateful for this gem!
Best one yet
This is, by far, the best title matching game in the App Store. The first one is a good game, but the improvements made on this one take it to a completely new level.
The games looks and play great. A lot more options for character customization were added and having a large selection of characters that can switch in and out of battle are very welcome additions.
Excellent game. Worth every $.
Another great one
You wouldn't think that a Match 3, an RPG and rich storytelling would work hand in hand, but this group has managed to pull it off not once, but twice. Both games are well worth the money and just leave me satisfied — and ready for the next one.
Good game, average to bad editing
The game suffers from a lot of Engrish - it's not a problem in many other Match 3 games, but in a story RPG, I'd prefer to have translation/writing problems removed by quality control.
It's been a long time since the days of Breath of Fire 2 and its dubious handling of the English language. For as long as the game took, I had hoped for better.
A++++++++++
Bravo to the devs. Hero Emblem 2 lives up to the first game and then some! The art is beautiful, the game play is addicting and perfect for the phone, and the story is solid. I can't believe how much content there is, and how well balanced combat is. Thank you to all that worked on this game, and I look forward to HE3!
I Love It
I really enjoyed Emblem Heroes 1 but I always wondered if there was a second game how would they expand and grow tue game. Haven't played the EB 2 for a few days I can say this is one of my favorite match 3 game, right next to Sdorica. New characters, super attacks, better combo system, and a pretty cool storyline. As of now I'm still in the first island but if the quality continues i can't wait to see what else is in store.
Having a blast
I never played the first game, but it received so much praise I pre-ordered this one. No regrets at all, aside from hopeless addiction to it, haha.
Fun characters, entertaining puzzle matches, and challenging quests.
Genuinely a great mobile game!
✨ The greatest Match-3 game ever ✨
No that's not an exaggeration. This truly is the best of any match-3 game you'll ever find. Beautifully animated, gorgeous backgrounds, JP voiced, fun / strategic gameplay mechanics, great music, fun story. It has it all. Hero Emblems 1 was already the best Match-3 game ever and this just improves on it. This game was many years in the making and it doesn't disappoint. BUY THIS GAME and support high quality premium game releases. No gacha, no ads, no iap, pure offline experience. The price is a steal. This is one game you definitely don't want to miss! Thank you Heatpot Games!
Good game just falls short of greatness
You will get 50 hours of gameplay out of this game. The best match 3 single player game you will play. Downsides are that the game feels a bit ‘on rails'. There is no replay ability once you are done. No game+ or endless mode. Hopefully the devs can address that.
Hero Emblems II Complaints 4
No regard for the player's time
This game has so much outdated crap. Random encounters of low level garbage, tons of grinding, random mechanics that you often can't really work around. The publisher's clearly are not at all hesitant to completely waste the player's time.
Punishing grinding sadistic game
I love souls games and old puzzle quest (before it became p2w) but this is insane you either grind for 20 hours to prep/level for one fight or die. Save your money this game was designed idiots who have a great system but artificially inflate monster difficulty so it is not skill but hours of mindless grinding that matters. A very disappointing sequel that did not learn from the mistakes of previous games. The devs really dropped the ball.
Confusing
Terrible UI - confusing gameplay - no explanation of how things work.
What's equipped- what isn't - who knows?
The company provides a terrible “walkthrough" which is someone just playing the game for an hour without any explanation.

Good design, awful plot
And holy cow it's awful. “The healer forgets about magic" bad. But the worst part is the lead. Being aggressively bland is bad enough in real life. Being bland
IN ENTERTAINMENT
Where the purpose is to engage, where you're competing with insane machworlds like soulvars, when this offensively boring protagonist whines nonstop about having to adventure and there's no way to leave the complainer behind...
There is no stake, no thrill, no purpose. This game's as engaging as a textbook, but the textbook will teach you something while this game will cost you money.
Your choice.
