This is about me waiting an hour and a person named virginia L Bisson from Fitchburg ma not treating me like a customer, she started asking me what did i want, if i'm in there is to do my taxes next she when in the internet for a tax calculator, which i could have done from home after that she said that i wouldn't get credited for my two kids because my wife was waiting for her social security from immigration which i know is bs, she didn't want to help me from the beggining because she was "sick" hr block you guys suck for having people with no people skills

I contacted the on line service today in order to inform them that there was calculation issue with the Deluxe version. The IRS indicates that a couple making $187, 00/year should pay $29, 387.50 + 28% over $151, 201.00. Total taxes should have been $39, 528.26. The software calculated the tax bill to be $62, 553 (28% of $187, 000). The Tech informed me that my calculations were incorrect and that I should talk to a tax expert. Just trying to report a problem. I wasted my time!

We have used H & R Block for many years for relatively simple tax forms, even though the prices are very high. In 2014, I withdrew 50, 000 from an annuity to give to my daughter to buy a house, which raised our income for that year. We paid a lot in taxes that year; this was a one time thing, never expect to do that again.
The following year 2015, we were back to the simple tax form with the taxable income back to the lower figure..for that year it was 21, 765. We got questioned by the IRS, asked for assistance from H & R, but got none. I did the followup, calls, etc. to IRS myself before it got resolved, even though H & R says it will stand by and help if needed. It took many many calls, etc before the issue was resolved. In 2015, the tax preparer was very unprofessional, acted as though it was all a big party and unimportant to do our taxes...ha ha ho ho kind of attitude. The next major complaint has to do with fees...243.50 in 20125, to do a relatively simple senior citizen (we are age 82 now) form ... fees just keep getting higher and higher every year. We can't afford this anymore and are going to the IRS volunteer preparers in our area. Major offenses as far as we are concerned: preparer who does not act professional, and the high fees. Fee consideration for our age and income would be appreciated rather than per page, also preparers with a caring attitude. Thank you for "listening"

The manager at the Corinth, Mississippi location is horrible and not professional at all. He talks badly to customers and employees. I would recommend you guys get a professional manager that can at least dress well and speak in a professional manner. He is rude and I would never let someone like him represent my company. I will file a complain with EEOC as well.

I called my local office to make an appointment. They tell me they dont make appointments after 5 because they close at 6. Okay fine, then I ask about the advsnce and she tells me they are doing it. I took off work today to made an appointment at 9am via the internet. I arrive at the store at 8:45 so im not late and nobody is there. Not a big deal. They show up at 9:15. I go to sign in and thr lady asked me of I had an appointment and I told her yes. She could find it anywhere. I gave her my conformation number and told her I made it online. Then she tells me that they dont take online appointmentd that I would have to set and wait... Well okay. I set and waited and waited... Finally they called my name I give her all my information and she starts to put it in the computer. Before I knew it she said she was done. I was thinking wow that was fast. She tells me to sign the documents and I was done. So I sign it. She hands me my papers and says im finished. I asked about the advamce and she said they stopped doing it last week. I said okay and left. I get home and start looking at my tax papers and she has my childs name wrong. I called back up there and asked what I needed to do and she said there is nothing that can be done. I just paid almost $400 for somebody to mess up my taxes. Im pissed!

It is completely ridiculous to have the volume on your ads so loud. I have the volume turned down low to hear the CNN reports and when your add comes on soooo loud. Control the volume on your adds by recording them at a normal volume, they don't need to be late loud. This is something someone could easily bring a lawsuit against for hearing damage.

My tax preparers name was Paulette at the Fourth Plain Vancouver location. We completed my taxes and I qualified for the loan option until my refund processed she said that I would receive the full $1, 250. She had stated specifically the full amount. So I started to set up payments for bills feeling falsly confident about the amount I was getting because apparently that was not the case. I received 500, I called the office where they were filed and I was only corrected and told I was wrong. That the preparer made a mistake. Offered no way to correct this mistake, or sincerity.

Frank Cherry, Lismore Australia. Has been given all material and information to complete business activity statement for the last two years. These still not have been done after numerous complaints made by me. He keeps telling me it will be done. I have received warning letters and excessive fines from the ATO which I forwarded onto him. This has affected my and my husbands health. I gave him a cheque in the sum of $7000.00 to pay for sum of the fines 3 months ago but the ATO say they haven't received it. I have concerns that this is now stolen as he convinced me that the Chq should be made payable to him. I cannot believe I placed my trust in him. I have been a customer for 3 years now with hrblock and i feel that the fees are outrages and i was wonder why as a long time customer there aren't any type of discounts for returning customer as well i feel as though that isn't fair at all, i would like to dispute my payment of 321 dollars last year i paid 302 dollars and some change so why the big increase in the cost, i feel that is unfair to customers that return year after year.
Three years with a bank is not long at all. I used to work at a bank (I no longer do), and there were several customers who had accounts 10+ years. They did not receive any benefits or fee reductions. If you feel you are being charged unfairly, you can close your account and use another bank.

My name is Sandra Y Garcia Leonardo and my husband Jorge A. Leonardo. We went to the main H & R Block office in Bradenton Florida on Cortez back in July 2016. Wet gave them all of our paper work that needed to by filed for 2015 because another person who had been doing my taxes fell ill and could not do them. According to your office manager the other person had been doing them wrong and she was going to help us. We were at the office for 2 hours and she still was not done and said that we would have to pay. We have her our debit card info and we started to pay on a payment plan. We left to Michigan late July and returned in October 2016. While we were in Michigan we several calls to that same office and no one would ever get back to us. In October when we returned to Florida we went back and told them what was the issue. They had is waiting in the office in Bradenton the Cortez location for 2 hours while they went and searched for our document's. The old lady returned empty handed and did she could not find any thing that the person working on our taxes must have it on her desk but her desk was locked and she was out on sick leave. I asked to stop the payments from being charged and they did. She promised to call us when the other lady returned but we have never gotten a call or a response back. We have attempted many times to call after that but no one can help and always have me on hold for over 40 minutes. I used to live in Parrish but since November 2016 we moved to Wimauma FL and cannot go to the Cortez location as often as we were. I would like to take care of this matter as soon as possible before further legal action is taken because this will affect my husband and I with the I.R.S.

I received a letter from the IRS stating that I owe money because I failed to report earnings which were clearly given to the agent I hired at H&R Block but she failed to include in my tax preparation this has caused a great stress and hardship on myself I submitted a claim through H&R Block under the Peace of Mind Act that I purchased with them they denied me once so I went into an office and reapplied again for the peace of mind to cover this debt knowing that it was no fault of mine and I clearly gave the representative all documents to file. Interesting a professional that knows what they're doing I assumed everything was done correctly. Once again I was denied so I called again and the representative only could tell me I was denied and why and I clearly disputed that was incorrect because the paperwork was clearly provided and in the packet still so basically it's their word against mine and now I'm just stuck with having to pay a fine because of their negligence? I called back and got an email address to the Palm claim department, was never given a direct contact person. I was sent an email back stating they would not cover it because it was my fault so I responded and basically said I need someone of higher status to speak with that can help me because I'm not going to take no for an answer without being given a really good valid reason I'm at a loss of what to do at this point any suggestions besides not using H&R Block ever again and interesting them with my finances.

On h&r blocks front page it states plainly that if your agi was 64, 000 or less and can answer yes to one of these questions, then you can start your free file return. Are you between the ages of 17-50? Or
Were you active duty military? Or
Do you qualify for the earned income tax credit (Eitc)?
My agi was much less than $64, 000 and I qualified for the earned income tax credit.
However once I finished my taxes and was ready to e-file them, the on-line program stated that I had to pay $29.99 for federal and an additional $36.99 for the state.
I proceeded to use the chat help on the side bar. The guy told me that you had to meet the age qualification for free filing. I told him this is not what it says on-line and asked him how to delete my account. His reply is that I can not delete my account, all I could do was erase all the information. This is also a false statement. I did find a place in settings to delete the account.
@Wine is good, this is true, it is just that the wording is very misleading. Of course that is what they are hoping, that you think it is free and just pay the money to not have to go through the hassle of typing in all of you information again. However I deleted the account, and do not like the shady or sly practices. I went to OLT.com and prepared and filed my returns for free. Just as they state on their site and on the Free File Alliance Page.
Try Turbo-Tax and complete the return yourself. It's FREE and pretty easy to follow. The program walks you through the tax return online at a time.

To make my story short on jan 20th I walked in to the tax office since I finally had my paperwork, it was the office in orangevale ca madison and greenback there was just one person working there and she had 2 other people ahead of me, she was super nice and professional but I couldn't wait too long. Hello people have jobs and other things to do, she offer to drop off my paperwork but I just don't feel comfortable doing so, it was my first time to h&r block and I would never go back due to lack of service which I believe comes from upper management how can they just have one employee working during this busy time unbelievable! I really hope upper management reads this and changes that, they will definitely loose lots of business including mine.

Parting ways with HR Block after 20+ years.
I have been an avid and trusting HR Block customer for over 20 years. The level of service and 'Peace of Mind" services provide me a sense of security that HR Block employed top-notch tax preparers – that would eventually dissipate.
After over 20+ years with HR Block I had to select a new tax preparer approximate 2+ years ago because my original tax preparer retired. 2015 is when my problems began.
1. During the 2015 tax season, on two separate occasions two HR Block tax preparers working together while I was sitting in their office calculated two different amounts I owed and both were exorbitant amounts and this was just for federal taxes. Of course I knew they were wrong, and asked that they reassess the filing, they did but came up with a different, lower, but still exorbitant amounts, of which I questioned again.
To summarize my HR Block Tax Preparer told me that she would continue to review my taxes up until the filing date of 15 April, that she would not file them electronically and instructed me not to mail them or send in any payment. I followed her instructions. I stayed in contact and called several times to obtain a status. After several calls, she returned my call and shared that she could not find any issues and that was the amount I owed. At that time I took it upon myself to speak with an independent tax expert, within minutes, he confirmed my suspicions that HRBlock doubled my disposition of property. Further investigation revealed that it was done the year before as well. I shared this information with my HR Block preparer, she reviewed her work and confirmed that the error for both 2014 and 2015. Wow!
You would think that they would be more than happy to apply the "Peace of Mind" for both years, which is a a nominal cost to them ($300 to $400), especially since I was a long standing customer with no issues in the past. That was not the case, HR Block applied it for one year but would not apply it to the previous year even-though I followed all of their instructions. There reasoning is that the problem was caught before the 2015 was filed – not the case – HR Block Rep electronically file the original and I followed her instructions to mail the original and corrected packages together.
HR Block ignored one of the main factors (of which I brought to their attention more than once) – that I had to seek independent services to identify the problem. The endless calls to HR Block seeking their assistance, following up to obtain a status, taking time off from work to visit their office - all unacceptable. The ironic thing about it, is that I really did not care about receiving the $300 to $400 "Peace of Mind" money. HR Block totally missed the bull’s-eye on their moral obligation. As a customer I trusted their guidance and direction for years. I followed their directions to the letter for the past 20+ years.
I can no longer trust HR Block abilities or promises.

In October, I contacted HR Block for assistance with an inquiry on my 2015 taxes that was filed online with HR Block Premium. I was informed that you cant help me until it becomes an audit.
I was unable to gather all the specifics that the Wisconsin Dept of Revenue needed in time as some of the bank accounts were closed and required more time for the financial institution to recover. The Wisc Dept of Revenue changed it from an inquiry to an audit. I was NOT informed that if I am unable to comply with an inquiry that you HR Block cannot assist with the audit. I don't find this information in writing either. I was told HR Block has nothing to do with an inquiry and they CANNOT assist in any way.
Also, when I filed the case with HR Block, I was told also that I can file my claim with out paying the penalty, however I would be responsible for any additional interest that accrues.

I usually do my taxes myself online. Simple 1040A. This year I needed my refund faster so I thought I would let H&R Block do them and just get a refund advance. First let me tell you that $332 is ridiculous! They actually had the nerve to charge me $298 to do my taxes and $34.95 to do a refund transfer to have the fees taken directly from my refund. I was willing to pay those ridiculous amounts just to get the advance. Well don't fall for this scam. The advance is a loan from a bank for which you must have great credit. They don't tell you that. It is not an advance from H&R Block. Oh and the loan? They don't even tell you how much you might get until after your taxes are filed and then they text you within 24 hours to let you know if you get the loan and how much it will be for. It is just a ploy to take advantage of the neediest people that would require that loan. Once they con you into letting them do your taxes at the hope of getting an advance, you're out $332 and still have no advance. The loan has nothing to do with your taxes at all! In fact, you have no idea what your fees are until they are done with your taxes. I could of just filed my taxes for free online! In fact I had to correct the "Tax Pro" when she told me I couldn't claim an exemption. She argued with me and finally called someone and they told her she was wrong. So now I'm paying for bad advice and being conned into thinking they are doing me a favor. This is a complete and blatant ripoff! I will be posting this all over the internet to warn people. In fact I think a class action law suit is in order. Oh, here is another piece of information you may not know. Anyone filing a return with EIC or Child Tax Credit this year will not have their returns processed until after Feb. 15th. Thanks to last years fiasco with fraudulent returns. So even though the IRS accepts returns beginning Jan 23, they won't process returns with EIC or Child Tax Credit until after Feb 15th.
The returns are being processed, but refunds aren't being released until Feb. 15, however refunds aren't in you bank until the 27th.
Next year try Turbo-Tax, they honor their free file and it's easy, line by line assistance online and live chat help

So, I'm going to let this all out. Since I may be commenting alot, despite moderators rightly analyzing it for their professional upkeep of this site as a whole, I'm going to say what's happened that I experienced. The mods may realize that I'm not even giving out my real name. It'll also be a task to disguise what I actually know. Why? Because I used to work there. A real torture pit. And they're not above violence if disgruntled employees are found out, even years after they left.
All I will admit is that this was a site in Philadelphia. And I'm glad that I got of there. So here goes:
The first year, less than 4 years ago, I signed up. You had to pay $350 for their course, which I must say, was rigid and very fast paced. The teacher was very strict also. We butted heads because the teacher was a loyalist and I was more of a realist. Really hated TurboTax. Like a mantra. Hating on it just to hate it. VITA, the free tax prep place the IRS controls, was on the radar, but not like TurboTax. Like political propaganda against a target, and you have loads as examples, which won't be listed here. Oh, and the people there, very well to do off, since the majority would brag about how much they're worth. Usually about low-end, $40, 000. High end, $80, 000. Those people would just glare at me and just be overcompetitive with each other. Very intimidating. People I don't work well with to put it PC to appease the mods here.
I'm assigned to my site. I'm looking forward to it. I already step on a toe. There's a hierarchy. The older workers, as in more seniority more so than actual age, gets the clients, all the time. You break it, you're berated, sometimes in front of the customers. Happened to me alot. Further, I notice a mistake. This couple was never told to take mortgage along with healthcare expenses. For over 20 years! And they were going to the same guy. I brought this up to the boss there at the time (FYI: H&R Block goes through more bosses than a burger joint with burger flippers) and I was threatened and told that I'd have a real rough time working there if I was just trying to show people up, and I'd come to regret it. The next day, it came true, since the guy must've got told what I did with his clients, and he verbally harassed and mocked me at every chance. Even refused to help me when I needed it. Made it clear not to approach him. Which I didn't. What this guy did, amongst other rude acts, was bring up more than once daily how he has more experience than I have years on earth. That infuriated me inside.
Also, again, from people's braggings there: Each one of them had a day job. On average, that job earned them $40-60K. Here, to summarize the "compensation" package, as it was slave labor, and to touch on the $350 part I mentioned above, which I found out later after doing this coming up now, is it's a draw against commission. So, your commission, paltry as it is, such as 5% per $200 charged as a bill, $3 per product sold, like Peace of Mind and Tax Shield (More on those 2 coming up), not considering that time-eaters, like computers constantly failing, a crappy software system, and of course, customer questions plus sales pitches of said two plus their card (Which in itself is a failure), the sales alone was to take 30 minutes. EACH! Now you see how paltry it is and how H&R Block motivates employees to gyp people out of dollars to put pennies in their pocket.
That get your billion back crap? I always said Block gets of that $999, 999, 999.00 and leaves you with the rest. The only way you advance is if you do dirty, illegal acts. Oh, before I go, if your DAC money, that $6 after tax, is more than your commission, you get demoted from one of your 15 levels of knowledge. As in, the tests you took to earn more money per return. If you do it 2 times in a row, like the next year of employment, you're fired. No exceptions.
Back to illegal, unethical acts. First, the products: Peace of Mind. You were pretty much saying you couldn't prepare a return properly so you need to pay $50 for the peace of having the error difference covered. I rarely did it because I had enough educational confidence in my returns, especially 1040EZs, that I didn't do it, much to the chagrin of my bosses. Next was the debit cards. Those cost $40. If you were getting those two, the bill already is $90. And for any return getting money back, it was $55 just to get your REFUND! WITHOUT considering the card and check yet, check costing $45! I didn't have an answer to give, and didn't try, when the only customer to question it did to me. I just said H&R Block said so. They walked out. Fun note: "Employees" would wonder why I didn't care about walk-outs when the tax return was just about done. I responded it was because of that paltry $6 an hour pay, though they went through the same situation I did.
Another product was Tax Identity Shield. For $100, you would be notified if your ID and Tax Return was submitted somewhere else. Thing is, it was only a notification. We didn't stop it. Plus, it had to be at another H&R Block location. Since everything was instantaneous, it was the equivalent of saying you just got shot when it happened instead of seeing the threat and being a shield or force evasion to the target. Rubbing salt in the wound, to get a PIN, we'd charge an extra $40. To just tell you the site to go to! We didn't actually walk you through it! And it's actually simple enough that you don't have to pay for it when I researched it as if my ID was stolen!
For the unethical and illegal act for the product part:
Unethical: Peace of Minds, we rarely got them in terms of redemption. Where we had to follow through on the product the customer paid for. When we did, we shredded them. Reason: It'll cost the company money. So the H-E Hockey Stick with them, was the censored part of what my now ex-boss said.
Illegal: Tax Shield: We had access to pertinent tax info, such as Social Security numbers. What one higher up did there at our site was take such numbers, write them down, along with other pertinent information, and call somebody and give them info. I thought nothing of it when one day, I was told to look up some random numbers. I thought it was just to check tax returns. When I asked if it was the customers asking or management for quality reviews, the guy said neither. Then he told me to mind my business. Then after that said others do it too, and that I should try it. If I were to mention what was going on, I'd suffer severe repercussions that could risk my safety. Needless to say, I chose my life over others. I don't regret it too much, considering I was pretty much a pariah with the upper management with my upper level bosses, which was hopeless to improve. All total, I estimate around 60-70% of potential ID theft came from us. On purpose.
Cards: The debit card, I shuddered when people wanted it. It was attached to no bank, and if you put your work check on it, you could face the possibility of having no funds available if card was stolen/lost or H&R Block would shut it down for unknown, arbitrary reasons, which happened VERY frequently. Admittedly, I would hang up on people who were victims of the card, as 99% of the time, it would be filthy vulgarities mixed with a death threat. I also did it when I was on a tax return, as the majority of the calls would take alot of time to figure out what kind of tax problem they had, or try to ask questions to do their own taxes, which was understandable, but slightly wrong if I was on a tax return or research problem and instead of coming in, I'm doing your return for free. Those were so bothersome, plus the filth-laden complaints of how Block screwed them, I just looked around, made sure no one looked, and picked up and hung up the phone immediately. So at least you know why I was one of the many ones who did it, but just my reasons. I don't know why the others did it.
Checks, maybe a third of the people who wanted them actually got them in the mail. We'd just purposely go into the system as soon as they were done and redirect it away from their address. I have a strong suspicion the people there had a way to get said checks and cash them and not get caught as of present. I wanted nothing to do with it and got flack as usual. Calls about checks were immediately given a blurb of "Blame the Post Office/IRS" after it was past the 4 weeks to get the check and a hang up. This was a way to punish those who didn't get the card or immediate deposit through their bank.
The next year, when I came back because I needed money, it got worse. The place was falling apart. Next, that Tax ID Shield was in effect. There was a woman who was the only one to sell them at all. Others like me, didn't. This paragon of virtue had alot of elderly clients. She scammed them all using sales techniques. She bragged that elderly clients were the easiest to manipulate and called them stupid, idiots, amongst other insults. This "woman" had a full time job at a retail place making $50, 000 annually. I saw her tax return online. PLUS has financial resources elsewhere that's earning her a tidy sum, thanks to her Ivy-League educated children. Guess she really needed that little pittance of $3 per product sold.
We also went days, which stretched into weeks, without clients. Because of the price. Some recollections: 1040s cost $250. States, $50 per. W-2s, $10 each. Other papers cost anywhere from $10 to $100! Those were mainly focused on SS income, Schedule A deductions, and Schedule C deductions. Though for Education, that form cost $120 alone! It wasn't uncommon for EIC people to cost over $500, as the form was over $350 BY ITSELF! And we haven't got to the end products yet. A return would take, the simplest being 1040 EZ, about an hour, majority of it doing unnecessary sales pitches. Including state, those simple returns were $200. Dependent returns cost $200, including refund costs as stated above in this statement. 1040 ranks: EZ=$100, A=$150, regular, as stated above, $250. EICs and others that were simple-moderate, about 2 hours, with all the paperwork to go over plus sales pitches. Remember, 5% increase per every $200, plus that uniform $3 per product sold, regardless of the price, and you'll see how it becomes like a slave shop for fruit picking wages. EVERYONE gets the same $6 an hour DAC regardless of company length, Also consider walkouts, which occurred about 40% of the time, and customer drought, and now you see that the only way to make it is to do unethical/illegal acts to make it profitable.
This next part is where I left: First, there was a pensioner who had to pay $400 total, though he had IRA and SS. He broke down, because he had to choose between paying the cost, which was way more than the refund, or eating. He chose to pay. The kicker was when a very old, sweet lady who was doing taxes got physically attacked by an irate client who looked thuggish. The manager, who was delinquent in every way, sent her home and gave it to this other co-worker, who was like the cookie-cutter weasel who makes work that much less desirable. She gleefully snapped it up like a rat to cheese. And this beacon of truth would curse people, sometimes loudly, behind their backs when they were gone. She would sometimes wish death on them. After such acts as begging to tears on the phone for them to come back went unheeded. I found it repugnant, others found it funny. Because misery and backstabbing was the order of the day. I remember the year before I had 60 clients, and then the next year when I left, I only had 12 left, of those only one number worked, where I left a message, but no return call. In effect, I had nothing. When I confronted my boss about it, I was told to suck it up and stop wimping out, since I stole those clients. No, those were forced on me, by the same people who did them before, but now don't want to.
And this whole pay structure is what this breeds: Hatred and bile, plus cannibalism of other people's clients through dirty deeds. And these are people that don't need it. And when they reduced the entrance minimum passing grade to a 50 instead of an 80, we got crap people. We had those who got the bare minimum, bragged they had an accounting degree to boot, and couldn't even do a simple W-2 entry! So cesspool of failure because of the cut-throat rates and training. Plus, before I go, the $350. Remember, for first years starting out with maybe 0-10 clients, they're not going to go past the $6 DAC. So simple division to figure out hours to break even with that course: 350/6=58.333 and so on. You were lucky to get hours above 10! Then understand numerous taxes relating to fed, state and municipal and it's even more hours! In other words, it's 99% free labor, with 100 in some cases. In one of our training meetings, some woman in our district made $100, 000 in the tax season Jan-Apr. After fees and so forth, pouring through the numbers, that seemed humanly impossible to reach, she only made $12, 500. An EIGHTH of what she should've made. Slave labor if I ever saw it. I'd rather pick fruit for what I was paid.
And I'm purposely leaving out, probably about 33-50% of what went on because of identification concerns. This was made as a guide to let you know, in summation, all the complaints you have and suspicions of what your H&R Block "Tax Experts" do, yeah, they do it. I'd say, with the usual caveat of not all employees are doing it, but those that aren't are, well, like me. Disillusioned and thinking they'd be getting paid a base minimum of $15 because of the complication of taxes to begin with. That's why you don't see people with welfare at the many useless meetings I had to attend. They had hot cars and dressed to the 9s. They're thinking this job will have more pay than their other job. Only to be brought crashing down to reality. I hope, if you read this all, this really helps. If it gets through the mods. I pray it does.
The majority of my complaint here is that the H&R Block you worked for is NOT the H&R Block I worked for. And not just one site. The WHOLE district was that nasty. I HAD to attend those nasty meetings of creepy old cat ladies and those high of their professional horse, as if they're still competing with someone ruthlessly. Oh, and there was NO DIVERSITY! Only about 4 or 5 non-whites. And those weren't where I worked. If it was at least a higher commission percentage and higher wage, or have wage and commission separate, then I'd still be there. Oh, and the blatant hostility of anti-ethical, anti-lawful behaviors gone also. In short, what you purport you enjoy. Since it's not, I feel it's my duty to commiserate and use empathy for the numerous people victimized maliciously by depraved "Professionals" only interested in putting pennies in their pocket in exchange for the client's dollars. The majority the taxpayers can't claw back after the amended return, WHICH by the way cost $200 flat fee when I was there. So thanks for what you say, but I'm letting you know the simple things they could do to improve client experience and reduce that horrible turnover rate that people like me contribute to. But since they don't, they'll have disgruntleds like me, the few who will speak out, albeit anonymously, speaking out for the clients we, at one way or another, victimized. Just to ease our conscience for those who are affected, like me.
While I won't argue with this person's perspective, it's unfortunate he/she had such a bad experience. I have worked for H&R Block for over 18 years. I do it not for the high revenue mentioned (I have never reached that) but for the backing the company offers to me and my clients. I have had only a couple POM claims denied in all my years, and it was because they were truly outside the guidelines. I have also had claims paid when per the literal interpretation, the guidelines were ambiguous. POM is a great product. I am an experienced pro and EA, but we all make human errors occasionally, and much of tax law is gray and a tax authority may disagree with my interpretation. This product is a very inexpensive "insurance" against those situations.
unprofessional tax preparer
I've been trying to re-file my 2014 return with one of H&R Block agents since April 2016 (my case is that of a US citizen filing from abroad). I asked her to check if there had been any mistakes in my 2014 return (it was done by another company and I suspected there could be a few) and then I asked her to re-file the correct version of it, once it was done. It took her a few months to do the checking, then a few more months to consider some additional info I had emailed to her regarding potential deductions etc. (which wasn't much). My emails are either being ignored, or she replies weeks later without taking any further actions. The fact remains the same - I am still trying to re-file my corrected 2014 return, and it's been over 8 months now! At one point I had to ask her if she could transfer my case to another agent, but she made me believe she would finish it herself. Now I am stranded - I am told that the return has been checked and ready (finally), but no one tells me how to proceed with payment, or how I am expected to receive a refund from IRS, to which account etc. She just tells me that corrected returns can be filed within 3 years' time, so I shouldn't worry about the deadline. All I had to do was read the first sentence. Funny story, there was a guy there always saying on a near daily basis that he had more years experience than I was born. I'm young, but still have a good bit of years, so I guess that was meant to be a dig at me, which I guess kinda is, since it annoys me a bit. For all that hype, I was the only one who knew how to fill out the Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit, along with the FBAR Form, for foreign bank reconciliation. When I let it known I knew how to do said form, so we can take those who lived abroad, everyone was shocked and started belittling me. When a person came in from Pakistan with Pakistani taxes, immediately he was turned away and I had no say in the matter. The only reason was "You're not getting a chance to show us up", as accurate as that was recollecting around 4 years ago. So it's best to go approach a CPA BBB certified with good reviews and reasonable price to get your international situation done.

Paid for peace of mind, getting anything but! We received a letter in the mail that our taxes for last year were wrong and we owed money. Well we purchased peace of mind but all we are getting is run around and a lot people who don't know what to do. We have made countless trips to the office, that is 30 miles out of the way, dropping off paperwork. Only to never anything back, then we call and they act they have no idea what is going on. Now it is passed the deadline the IRS gave us and still we have not resolved the issue. This will be the last time we use H&R services for our taxes.
That's standard. We used to shred them. Apparently, the company that pays the equivalent of what you would pay illegal immigrant fruit pickers seasonally is worth the protection to their bottom line.
I have been waiting over a year for h&r block to complete my taxes
Hello, I took 2 years of tax returns into a local office on or around 10/2015. after numerous phone calls and visits to the office I am still waiting to hear from someone about this matter. When I call they put me on hold for long lengths of time and promise to call me back, as they are unable to locate my file. No one ever follows up with a phone call.
The name(s) it may be under are R&R Fabrication, Roger Rosin or Debi Rosin.
I would like to have this matter resolved. I would also appreciate some compensation considering this is horrible customer service.

Here's a response you may not like. But truth rarely is merciful. Where I worked at, all we cared was money. After the bill, we ignored you, mistakes be darned. We were onto the next person to fleece. With Second Looks, where I learned that TurboTax is ALOT better than H&R, after I would report in I did the Second Looks, the reported person would take the papers I used to make the determination, 75% of the time, never to be seen again.
