Warning - never use best buy hsbc credit card! In october, I purchased a television at best buy using their 3 year no interest credit card. I have been paying considerably more than the minimum payment, because I didn't want to pay interest. Today, I received a bill from them with a $39 late fee on it. They posted the payment one week after I mailed the payment. I find it hard to believe that they didn't receive the payment before then, since we don't deliver mail on ponies anymore! I called hsbc and they best they could do was take half of the late payment off! I then spoke to a supervisor and she told me the same thing, that there was nothing more they could do. I know that any bank can take any fee off of an account. To tell you they can't is a lie! I was also charged interest on the late fee! I called best buy and, even though it is their credit card, they can't do anything either. I will be paying off the full amount and will never shop with best buy again! I guess it doesn't pay to be a responsible consumer and try to avoid interest charges - the bank doesn't care if they get your business, because you're not paying them anything!

That's why I stick to Hhgregg. They have way better no interest programs.

I had a similar problem, but it had nothing to do with snail mailing a check & he's right, you should be paying your bills online. It would take you 30 seconds to log in, make the payment & leave. If you can post a review here, once you get your bank to set up your bills in your account, it's very easy.

This was an issue with Future Shop. Best Buy bought them out a few years back.

I bought a laptop & ONLY found out months later from my bill that if I didn't pay the entire thing off within the 3 month period, I DON'T pay interest on the remaining balance owed, noooo, they charge interest on the ENTIRE purchase price.

Can you believe the rip off?

I called & complained to Future Shop who of course passed the buck to HSBC & I got angry, NO, this has nothing to do with HSBC, HSBC is a bank & they will do whatever they can to get money from customers. This has to do with you allowing this type of rip off in the first place & not telling customers. They of course had to give me the same BS that I didn't read the tiny print in the paperwork.

No matter how much I complained, Future shop wouldn't listen & they said they had no Office of the President. I finally got Best Buy's address, wrote to them & the ###ic girl who responded didn't even understand what I said. All she said was "you have to pay interest", speak to the bank.

In the end HSBC waived the interest, but that wasn't the point. The stress I went though plus wasted time, & it was clear they were hiding this information from customers.

I've purchased from them before when they were with Wells Fargo I think & I was never charged interest on money not owed.

Future Shop has since changed banks AGAIN. This is the 3rd time in a few years. I wonder why they can't keep a bank around.

While I consider Best Buy to be better managed than Future Shop because it comes from the States, I just had a negative experience with www.bestbuy.ca & I will NEVER use their site again. I'm writing to the Office of the President again, but I'm sure they will just sweep it under the rug like they did the other issue.

Very disappointed. In fact what I've noticed, is that the store gives much better service than their consumer line, site, or credit department does. Go figure, it's usually the other way around.

I am having the same problem. This is a trick to get customers to pay interest while promoting a "no finance charge" program. They will not even discuss the unfairness of this program and the fact that they charge 24% interest on the full amount (over $2000) even though only $175 was outstanding when the promotion expired and no payments were late. This should be illegal but apparently it is not.

Hello.. I been having the same problems with HSBC & Best Buy card. They try to post your bill late so they could charge you "late fees" .. then they come up with interest fees out of the blue. When you call them, your call goes to India where they can't do anything about it. HSBC & Best Buy are PIGS... I wonder how many Americans have the same problem ?

I was told by someone who did business in both the US & Canada, that b/c Canadians never complain, stores & companies get away with murder ripping them off or giving poor customer service. This sort of thing doesn't usually happen in the US b/c Americans won't put up with it.

You want to change things, you have to open your mouth to the right people (not just your friends & family) so the government starts to take notice.

I recommend you write to Consumer Affairs, or call the ombudsman & ask them who to complain to.

The more Canadians that complain, the more change will occur. Keeping your mouth shut solves nothing except the companies figure out pretty quickly that they can walk all over consumers.

I suggest everyone who visit this site Never ever apply for Best Buy credit card. I made a huge mistake by applying for this focking CC. I purchased a laptop in Best Buy with $ 500 using this card and ended paying $1000.00 with interest fees.
They are no more than thrift and costumer deceiver. if you are even one day late they will charge you $ 35 no grace and put in your credit. Be very very careful when you use best Buy CC.
I have hell experiences with Best buy CC which from HSBC. Be careful...

They are crooks... I have been trying to get them to send me a copy of the Card Holder agreement because they made a mistake on a statement and they never sent it to me, tried calling then 3 times, sent them a letter, then another with Registered Mail. They never respond, so I stopped paying them, now their collections department calls me 5 times a day...
Sent them 3 Cease and Desist letters demanding the contract and they still have not sent me a copy. Preparing a lawsuit now, - This Canadian is sick of the BS from this Predatory Lender...

'The more Canadians that complain, the more change will occur. Keeping your mouth shut solves nothing except the companies figure out pretty quickly that they can walk all over consumers.'

I guess that is why this woman will not keep her mouth shut till you Michelle Korn finish cleaning up the defamation you did to me for 5 years. That is why i will continue to look for you to serve you court papers and bring you to justice. That is why i will continue to war others about you.
People please Google Michelle Korn and exoticpublishing to see what i am talking about so you do not become her next victim.

And Michelle, I am still waiting for the money you owe me and promise to send over 5 years ago. Taking to defamation because you were planning to not pay someone you owe is just as low as it gets in my eyes and any person of character would agree.

Update:
Just as suspected, Michelle put the blog back up but it appears she is now allowing my comments to go through.
I am still looking for her to serve her court papers.

I paid off the balance of Best Buy credit card and the very next day I got a letter stating they had closed my account. If I could I would have stopped payment.
