HUGE SCAM! STAY AWAY! I ordered a background check from them for $.95. They emailed me a confirmation that they will be charging my account for $.95 but failed to let me know that they will automatically sign me up for an Identity Theft Protection. They charged my account every month for $19.95 without my consent. They are more than happy to cancel the automatic charges as soon as you call and place the cancelation order; however, they refuse to refund all of the money that they unethically stole every month! They make their money from individuals who do not monitor their account regularly. Bottom line, they are hoping that you never look at your statement to realize that they are stealing $19.95 from your account.

The website is very misleading and is unclear that they will charge your account every month!

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

SAVE YOUR SELF SOME HEAD ACE AND STAY AWAY! THE INFORMATION THEY PROVIDE IS OUTDATED AS WELL!

At times phone reports are not instant. In those cases additional research maybe needed. If you choose not to wait the 2-3 business days for that to process, you can certainly cancel the order. If you canceled immediately the charge was most likely still pending, and Intelius would just cancel the transaction releasing the hold with your bank.

If you have further billing concerns, please call 888-445-2727 Monday – Friday 4:30am – 9:00pm PST. We will be more than happy to assist you with your account.

If you select a promotional price on the Intelius website, you will also receive a free 7 day trial of Identity Protect. After the 7 day trial, it will convert to a regular subscription and bill out at $19.95 monthly.

However, there’s no obligation. If you determine within the 7 day trial that you no longer want Identity Protect, you can cancel your service anytime, online or over the phone with a customer support representative.

It sounds like you have also accepted the People Search offer that is advertised on the Intelius website. If you no longer wish to be enrolled in the People Search membership, please call 888-445-2727 Monday – Friday 4:30am – 10:00pm PST. We will be more than happy to assist you.

I had previously used Intelius successfully to do a reverse lookup on a phone number which could not be found in other free online databases or a web search, and was not signed up for Privacy Matters Identity at that time. Last week, I went back to Intelius to look up another phone number, that lookup was not successful, and the charge for that was canceled. Yesterday, I received an e-mail 'confirming' my 'Membership Information' for Privacy Matters Identity. I checked my bank account and found a $19.95 'temporary' hold on my credit card for Privacy Matters Identity.

Reading further, I found that this was a '7 day trial membership' which would be charged if I did not cancel within the 7 days. I did not knowingly register for this trial membership, it was definitely not obvious that I was agreeing to be charged for this service. I called the phone number, and one of the menu options allowed me to enter my 'membership' ID from the e-mail message to cancel the service. I received a confirmation in my e-mail that the service was canceled. If the temporary charge is not removed, I will dispute the charge.

Total Rip-Off...waste of hard-earned money...Their advertisement is very misleading. Do not use!

Said name and address of user was available but only gave me the name of the wireless server that this individual uses and the city and state that this user lives in.

No name and no address...but the supposed income and the supposed value of the house the person lives in.

I wanted to know who the person is who is calling me and hanging up. The other information does not interest me.

Don't make the same mistake I did! You will regret throwing away your money.

This company is a fraud. Do not use them unless you enjoy being overcharged. I too purchased their service for $9.95 and was subsequently surpirsed when I saw a second charge on my account for $19.95. The charge was totally unauthorized. Now I have to go through the hassle of trying to resolve the issue. My advice to you is DO NOT USE INTELIUS.

Paid with card online when site stated it had information re: reverse cell phone number search that reputable sites couldn't find: white pages, anywho. After collecting money and the number of receipt, I'm informed that their specialists are at work and will let me know by email when or if! They are able to get the information. I have immediately requested a refund. I am informed that if I am approved for a refund, I'll receive it in 5 to 9 business days!'

Don't waste yr time with intelius!

I used Intelius to do a background check for my tenant. The check came back giving me a address report, confirming that the tenant had no record. After trying to evict the tenant, I did further investigation and found out that, not only was her credit horrible, but she had actually been evicted from 2 prior residences. This busness pays google to stay at the top of it's list. But they suck! After reading all of these complaints< run!

The site promises the latest information. Much of the time I could not view anything because it constantly said web page unavailable. It also was advertised as free, but when you wanted to view something, it asked you to select one free item, which you then had to pay for. I paid for the first one, and then the next item automatically used my credit card. I do not wish to have this membership as it is not free as promised. Each successive page asked for more money, and it wouldn't let me click out.

Please help! I used Intelius to track down an old friend. I only now have realized that I was inadvertanly charged over $300 in the past 10 months ($14.95 twice a month) by companies I have never even heard of: 24 protect plus and privacy matters). I cannot seem to get my money back. It seems a lot of people have had this experience: what can I do?

I ordered a background check at $49.95. Received hardly any info. Used another search company and got much more info. I emailed Intelius to let them know how unhappy I was. They couldn't have cared less. I called... took days to get to speak to someone in customer care... and was told person may have removed info. I told them it was unfair to take money from people if they can't produce the goods. Told me they had a no-refund policy. No wonder! Do not use this company!

I paid for a reverse phone lookup, and did get it. Then, I got off line. Now I see that I was charged $19.00 for Credit Card Protection, which I never agreed to or ok'd. I emailed them, they said they would "look it over" and get back to me, but haven't so far.

Now, I see that they are planning to charge me again, on September 30, 2017, I guess for another $19.00! I again email them and told them I did not order this service nor was I interested

I have gone round and round with this company before and should have known better. I'll never use them again, and have warned my credit card company what is going on.

Best of luck to the rest of you. I am so angry!

About 3 months ago, I purchased a one time reverse directory phone number search. I did not ask for or want a monthly service. Nothing during the online process of purchasing the lookup said anything about getting a monthly service. The email receipt I received shortly thereafter detailed the reverse directory lookup I asked for but said nothing about a monthly service. However, for the last 3 months, they have been charging me for Monthly services and they have not yet responded to the email I sent last week to stop the service and refund my money. I do not recommend this company!

I signed up just now for intelius and it keeps giving me a run around, changing my password every chnce they get and having me not be able to sign in properly or view my profile. I used my crdit card for a person report in the U.S. as i'm currently living in the caribbean and they didn't give me a report or anything. I would like them to delete my credit card number and all other information for me. I want my account to be deleted, but it's not listed on their website on where on how you delete your account. Reading all these complaints, i can see why...if i don't have my account shut down and credit card info erased, i'm calling my lawyers.

The only thing I ordered was an updated address for a friend for which you charged me an exhorbitant $49.95.
Then I see you are charging me $19.95 for some sevrive which I neither ordered nor do I have any use for nor do I want.
Please credit my Master Chagre account for this $19.95 and DO NOT BILL ME ANY FURTHER.
If it is not taken off my bill, I will file a formal protest with Master Card and persue any and all legal means to bring action agaunst Intelius for Fraud, Misrepresentaton and Unethical businees practices.

I used Intelius to for an address lookup for a total charge of 95 cents. Several weeks later two charges appeared on my bank statement - 11/21/2017 VISA - AP9*VALUE MAX $19.95 and 11/20/2017 VISA - INTELIUS SUBSCRIPTION $19.95. Thankfully I reconcile daily, so I caught the charges early. I recognized the name, Intelius, but the charges didn't match, so I did a search and found this website. I called Intelius and simply stated that I had two charges on my bank account that I did not authorize, the representative was nice. She cancelled the subscriptions and refunded the charges. I was calm and she responded well to that. Bottom line they have deceitful check out practices.

I contact the company for the Intelius charge and the offered to refund the $19.95 but they had charged that amount for 4 months ($79.80) so I emailed them and said if I did not receive confirmation that the total amount would be refunded I would report them to the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. I got confirmation and my money refunded to my credit card without any further problem.

so i wish for this TO BE CANCELLED IMMEDIATELY. i would also like a credit to my card for 19.95.

At one time there were dozens of free residential (white pages) and business (yellow pages) information search engines. Now almost all of the major search engines are powered by Intelius which is a fee based search engine. Intelius now controls such a large percentage of the web search engines that the supply of information services has become severely limited. Such horizontal integration is considered predatory and monopolistic as it limits the ability of the consumer to obtain the desired service at a competitive (formerly free) price.

I had been looking for an old friends new phone and I had the unfortunate experience to falling victim to a joint scam between Intelius an a company named Value Max, which is supposedly some kind of savings service for all kinds of different services, The scam is that Intelius gave value max my credit card number (which I never authorized) and they had been charging my account 19.95 per month (two months charges before my statement came out). At the same time Intelius keep flooding my email account with offer to protect me against fraud isn’t that ironic as well as a great twist on a scam.
Also I not only paid a quite high price for the phone numbers but for the service form Intelius none of the ones I was given were correct. So I am feeling like I was scam not once but twice by Intelius. What really makes me mad is Intelius has tied themselves to most of search engines so it is hard to find searches for friends or phone numbers without being redirected t them SCAM THREE!
BEWARE OF USING INTELIUS THEY WILL CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS THAN YOU WILL RECEIVE IN SERVICE
What is sad is they should read their own web site section "Intelius Privacy Policy" words are cheap I guess.

I have requested several times during the past 4 years to have my personal information removed from their search engine, yet it continues to appear.

I guard my personal privacy very tight and their displaying my age, address or any information only gives identity thefts a tool for stealing both ny name and credit references as I've proven in the past.
I even wrote to Governor Bush (in office at the time) and nothing was done.
Thus, I hereby present a formal complaint for violation of privacy laws that this great State of Florida obides by.
Yo need to do something about this people and their crude disregard for citizen's rights for privacy and personal peace.

What a rip. I only entered my credit card to pay for a single transaction - and that's what it said I was paying for. Then I get an e-mail about having signed up for a subscription that I had marked as not wanting on their website. Went to the website and cancelled. Got confirmation. Thought we were done. Now $19.95 charge on my bill. Can't get them by phone to ensure they cancel. Am filing a dispute with my credit card company, but what a hassle.

They charge for services I have never requested, double charge for those I have, and refuse to refund the costs of their error. The only way to remedy the problem is to close out the credit card used so they cannot keep charging it and never do business with them again.

I signed with Intelius in February to look up a phone number and address.. I got that information and authorized Intelius to draft $10.89 out of my checking account.. That was all that I authorized them to take out. Since then, they have taken out $19.95 on several ocassions without authorization.. I only needed it one time and I paid for it.. Now how do you stop them.. They sell you all that information about phone numbers and addresses, but they make it hard or impossible to get a number to call them and ask why they still keep robbing our bank accounts.. They need to make it as easy to cancel as they do to sign up.. What can the consumer do..
