Interlock ignition plus $80 fee
I was letting my car warmup not realizing the damn thing would beep at me even if I was not driving (I don't know why they cannot have a car warm-up setting that you can toggle on/off with a breathalyzer blow); anyway, I got back in the nick of time to blow in it, and right after I did I got penalized for it anyway with a 75$ lockout fee which they refuse to refund after I explained my situation!
I did get the refund btw after a rep called me back.
I really don't know if I should thank trustpilot, pissed consumer, or finally someone at intoxalock that overrode that fee (Ronin I believe), but I appreciate the efforts of the two. I will also make sure to keep it in mind not to have the car running without me in it in the future!
Igniton interlock
This company is fraudulent all the way around. Court ordered a portable to ignition device got the portable until I got a license for to driver installed the ignition. Both from Intoxalock. They wont allow the return of the portable despite the fact the original order said EITHER device required. So they are charging me for both.
The compliance email they provide doesn't work. "Yes, the compliance officer received the documents and has replied that the documents are not acceptable authorization for de-installation of Home Monitoring Unit. The monitoring officer must provide the required authorization. Please contact your PO to obtain the authorization. It must be emailed to [protected]@intoxalock.com"
there is no PO because there hasn't been a trial yet. Try to email that address it doesn't work and is false. This company is dishonest to the core. The Court has no clue why they are asking for this as they are not a government agency!
Intoxalock device
My situation was scary, shocking and life threatening..
Sunday, Oct 10, 2016, I was scheduled, for a recalibration. My contract started, 5/2016 and it ends, Nov, 2016. I blew into the device, my vehicle, starting smoking, furiously. Than, fire started, fast under the hood and under the dash. The doors locked, I was inside, just after blowing and starting the vehicle. The fire must have damaged, the electric. Fortunately, I had a window open, so I climbed, out, I would not be able to send this email if the window was not open. People visiting next door called, 911, We were not able to manage the situation, we needed the fire department. I was afraid, with the gasoline the vehicle would explode. The vehicle was in my driveway and the smoke has penetrated, my house. The toxin burnt smell has been with me all week so I am not feeling well.
Intoxalock, told me I have to have one of their mechanics remove their device for $139.00, I can remove it, , , its all melted. Also, they are charging me, approximately, $3300.00, for their device. Their device was killing the charge of my battery every 6hours, I timed it. I was told to place a trickle down charger to keep the battery running, for the Intoxalock. I was not allowed to drive the vehicle, but I was told to keep a record of blows, 2-3 times a week, which I did for 5month, passed, every time.. Now I do not have a car and I was also, misguided by DMV, about the NYS, conditional license. I would never have placed this device on my vehicle, which I no longer have, my life in danger and now they want to charge me, this incredible amount of money, I need help with this issue. Interlock device
The nature of having this device means someone got in trouble with their driver's license.
I have a Drivers permit. The waiting list to take the Driver's test is 3 months long. So I require a licensed driver to be sitting next to me in order to legally drive the vehicle in the meantime.
If I cannot find someone to drive with me on the day of recalibration, then I'm "locked out" & must have my car towed to the recalibration place.
Why isn't there a 24 hour grace period for customers that are blowing clean?
There should be a little window here for customers that are faithfully making
lease payments & recalibration payments.
Customer service
This company has the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. While they are quick to take money from you, when they make a mistake and promise reimbursement, it never arrives. Their reps appear to be very poorly trained and give many different answers to the same question. They seem extremely unprofessional and script driven. Unfortunately, if your question does not appear in their script, they are completely unable to help and, of course, no supervisor is available. I am an attorney and the Intoxalock involved in this situation was for someone else. However, whenever I called, they seemed to have assumed that I was a person required to have an ignition device in my car and they treated me with utter disrespect. Go elsewhere for an ignition device and save yourself the money their mistakes cost you and the aggravation this company creates. BEWARE!

SO please any other person who read this review by any circumstances DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING WITH INTOXALOCK find other companies more reliable and profesional. This company will take your money for nothing .
Customer service
After I filed a complaint, Intoxalock contacted me in an effort to quiet me and agreed to pay towing charges incurred because of misinformation from their customer service department. However, they now continue to make me jump through hoops to get the reimbursement they promised. I sent an actual copy of my bank statement showing I paid for the tow. Not good enough! Therefore, I forwarded the exact receipt sent to me by the tow company which showed the company name, date of service and amount paid. Intoxalock's completely incompetent customer service department is still not satisfied with my receipt. Avoid this company. They will make promises and never follow through on them. There are many interlock ignition device companies who provide excellent customer service and they deserve your business instead of this company which provides terrible customer service.
Customer service is useless
I had to laugh reading the complaints about not being permitted to speak with a manager. For over three weeks, I was told the manager or supervisor was not in yet, at lunch, or gone for the day. Instead, I am left to deal with some high school dropout advise me on the law. They had no idea that I was an attorney! They read from a script and continue to talk over the customer because they do not know how to answer questions that are off their script. It cost me $1200 in car rental fees and towing fees after a "customer service" rep gave me incorrect information. They also make it almost impossible to end your relationship with them. I was forced to get a court order requiring the removal of the device even though installation was never ordered by a court. Go to another company for your device or be prepared to deal with robots who can not help you at all. I had this put this on my son's car so I could be certain he did not drink and drive and they actually locked the system when I cancelled and would not remove the device without a court order. Once I had a fellow attorney explain what was going on, he immediately got a judge to sign an order demanding removal. Guess what happened next. They "couldn't find" the order I sent them. I sent them 200 more copies of the order so if they "lost" 199 of them, there would still be one left. Avoid this company!
Automobile interlock device
Firstly: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are a money grab!
Rhode Island has new regulations as per the word of the Intoxalock rep. and I was asked to sign a new lease. The only way I was aware of this was that I had received a couple of calls from an unknown number that started with a recorded message. I thought it was a marketing call and hung up as I do to any call that is a recording. Today I received that call and happened to listened to it and it was Intoxalock reminding me that I need my unit calibrated. I have less than one month to go for a one year requirement of this devise. I called Intoxalock and spoke with Tasha I believe her name was. She explained to me that indeed RI has changed its protocols and need to go to a approved service center to have the new unit installed and the old unit returned. Not a big deal. What is a big deal is that I was charged $35 for an overnight shipping to the center because my existing unit says 1 day 14 hours for service. Mind you for the last 11 months they have shipped me a unit for me to remove the old unit and install the new unit every 60 days. Because I didn't listen to their recorded calls I know have to pay another $35 AND an additional $15 to the center (which isn't Intoxalock's issue) but wasn't told that there would be more fee's. This wasn't what I signed up for. I NEVER received anything in the mail letting me know of such changes. I, like most, get hundred of marketing emails and was sent two emails dated 5/10 and 6/13. I only checked my email and searched for all Intoxalcok emails and found those two. So... The rep. repeatedly told me that I had plenty of time from all the calls and emails to be prepared. I DONT DO MARKETING RECORDED CALLS. I use email minimally. I asked why didn't I receive a letter in the mail? I was told because I received two calls and two emails. Can you imagine in a legal situation there isn't paper work? Not even a letter?
This is only today's issue. For those of you who are seeking this devise for your unfortunate solution; be prepared for lock outs because you had eaten something in your car that has bread. When asked why you blow a .035 they will disrespect you by telling you that you had alcohol and when you tell they you didn't they will give you a spell and ask for over $100 with shipping or your car will not start. So much more too but I will leave it at that. I'm simply passing on my experience and will NEVER recommend this company. In RI it's mandatory if you even go to court for a DUI wether you win or loose your case. I have had three people I know get pulled over from leaving the same restaurant in North Kingstown and received DUI's... I have recommended them to Intoxalock for their unit but am sorry I did because they too have had nightmare situations with them. Rude, unprofessional, kids for their call center. You have other options that are better in Rhode Island. The DMV has a list of them.
Explanation of service completely lie
My name is denis kolenovic, I call intoxalock to get some information for unit to install in my car because I had a dui, spoke to rob, sales rep, he explained fee and what is going monthly charge...90 $ installation and 80.26 every 2 month 18$ for something... Else... Unit was distraction... And causing almost 2 times accident... Every other week I need to replaced apparently I made violation... Company made the unit so they make extra money... Only way I knew I went to new company, and explanation to me the way everything works, took 2 good days... To cancel the whole thing, I was on hold for 45 minute each time... Because nobody wanted to cancel, the want 323.00.. But my account was paid till 18 of this month, I terminator on june..4... I want to stop this company fragile, charges, and not disclose...
every representative did not want to talk to you just put you on hold from 45 to a hour, , , they always have an excuse...Would not recommend to anyone

Ignition interlock
The customer service representative verbally abused me and refused to help. He told me I had poor reading comprehension and should blame myself for not reordering my calibration in time, since I had not due to an expired lease. My lease was supposed to be 12 months but expired after 11. When I caught the mistake I called ASAP but it was Saturday and calibration due Monday. I requested a one day extention to remain compliant with my probation terms but they refused citing I could not read and told me it was my mistake and refused to help, saying they would not let me talk over them while I attempted to explain the leasing error. The representative took 40 minutes to answer and then berated me until I cried. They are expensive, the device a huge drain on my battery, replaced my battery twice in a year and it still frequently dies causing issues with lockouts that are 75 dollars a pop. The device will not register a sample, causing issues while driving. They have hidden fees, ruined my ignition "run wire" they blamed my car for it, the machine has issues starting, they've double billed me and hold times can be over an hour, they are disrespectful and have also hung on me before when I was attempting to resolve an issue, and I wasn't even being obnoxious, just concerned. Go with anyone else, this company has no ethics and only cares about money and scamming you out of it.
Interlock device (legacy) 2016
Date: Feb 17th 2016 Client#342346 Driving home from installation of product by interlock installer... Device had to be blown into to start, , then 5 minutes later rolling re=blow, then less than 10 minutes 2nd blow/exhale, then a 3rd one before coming home after only going 9 miles away.. Seriously! Called the technical dept about issue, they told me its normal 1st time user.. Kidding right? The device is not user friendly, its hardly safe driving while engaged in driving distracting you from driving... And i do not think device was calibrated or working right when it was installed on my 2003 chevy trailblazer...So i am very upset, frustrated with what manufacturer (intoxalock calls user friendly... It took me over a hour to get home which normally takes me less than a half-hour 9 miles My desired resolution is to request a return of said product and cancel my account... I will go to courts to see i can get the device removed legally.. I had multiple chats with different agents on wednesday feb 17th at 2 pm cst here in wisconsin.. Intoxalock
From the moment this device was installed My life has been in danger. It's definitely less dangerous to drink and drive than it is to use this device. However, if you try to have it taken out early, they tell you they will charge you for the whole year because it's in the contract. If you try to call them for help when the device has stranded you on the side of the road, they pretty much accuse you of drinking and treat you badly. They do not care one iota if the device has stranded you on a cold, dark road. Not only does it devalue your vehicle by screwing up the electronics, it is extremely hard to use. Don't believe what you read about false positives not happening. They happen all the time. You have to blow hard for about 6 seconds then inhale then blow out to finish. The darn beeper goes off every 10 minutes so it's impossible to keep pulling over to blow, inhale and blow again. The truth is you have to do it while you are driving, even if you are on a dangerous dark windy my road. Let's touch on the other health danger. They reuse these devices so God only knows what diseases you are inhaling. They claim to clean them but I watched the installer blow into it several times. I can only hope he doesn't have some horrible disease. Don't install these dangerous devices. Take an uber or have a friend drive you. It will save your life and your health. Don't give them your hard earned money. They don't deserve it because their product is horrible.

10-01-15 This device went into some mode telling me I was about to be locked out in 4 days. I have not had a drink in 8 months and I never use the device after just eating ... I even started skipping mouthwash simply because this thing cannot be trusted. After having the device installed in late August 2015 - I got a warning on the device that it was necessary to have a recalibration after only two weeks- a month before the initial recalibration was due on 10-3-15. My install service provider : "Car Audio IPros in Hawthorne California showed my next appointment to be 11-02-15. But now guess what ... more money needed to have another device sent out here to put into the car almost 30 days prior to that date. I have not missed ANY rolling re-test nor have I drank alcohol in 8 months as of Oct 11th. But they sure do want more money don't they?
Full of problems as a product
The first one installed at two batteries; ate a battery, "Interstate" less than one year old and had to spend $75 for a new battery. Found out the equipment sent was a faulty unit so had to drive 45 miles round trip to have another installed.
The 100 dollar rebate gets added on at the end, so they say, will see when my year is complete with this p.o.s. expensive, inconvienent waste of money.
Latest device now doesn't like the way I submit continually saying I am blowing too soft, 2 tries gets me a lockout for 14 minutes. Got to spend 45 minutes at a gas station today for breathing too soft despite my breathing counts and force has never changed; apparently this could indicate another faulty device. This has happened to me 5 times, lock outs in 2 weeks and am afraid to go anywhere for fear of being stuck for hours.
Asking for call back as they do rather than hold; they never call back. Quoted price is never what you pay; the bill is ALWAYS more. This product most probably designed and sold by retired cops is nothing more than a punishment full of anxiety of lock outs, dead batteries, bad customer service, and high costs. I hope someone catches on if enough complain and this crap stops putting money in those who sell them pockets. I DO NOT RECOMMEND INTOXILOCK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
Bad customer service problems with intoxalock
I had the intoxalock device five months every time I called for anything it was an hour wait on the phone I payed monthly the service plus u have to pay $20 every time you get the calibration service fee they don't tell you that so I payed $67.99 every time it was time for my calibration the mechanics never received the new device from intoxalock I always had to come back another day not one time I went and the device was there well when the 5 months was up my day was august 12th I was paid up too the DMV said I had to keep it in till august 18th and all these new charges came out now it was 145 more for just keeping it in a week more not once did they advise me that it would be that much more and mind you I called almost 3 weeks before so august 18 came and the mechanics had no schedule appoint and the intoxalock representative told me a week before it was august 18 at 10:30 get there and what do ya know no appointment schedule I then called intoxalock and told them I talked a representative named kara she was not helping my situation she then wanted me to reschedule after I took this day off from work I couldn't trust that it would ever be schedule I asked to speak to her manager she kept saying in what regards I said this situation it not the first time it has happen she then put me on hold for 30 min and I was never connected to her manger she hung up and called me back while she had me on hold I talk to the mechanic and asked him if he could please schedule me I cant deal with intoxlock anymore he then told me that they had multiple issues with this company the guy had the heart and fitted me in and I got this thing out my car its a lot of weight off my shoulders now no more rude representative or staying on the phone are dealing wit non scheduling then I call to close out the count and now they want to charge me 3 dollars and some change am so glad this intoxalock device is out of my life id never recommend them to anyone all was money hidden charges and they were not on top of appointments or shipping out devices on time and I always called way in advance and it still wouldn't come on time DONT USE THIS COMPANY intoxalock a big head ache

The process and cost of installing a intoxalock is horrible. From installers, customer service reps, sales reps and Intoxalock company itself. Why is that once you have your intoxalock installed the company itself can't send your paper work to DMV automatically? When we get our cars smog checked the results go directly to DMV. My paper work was incorrect while installing my intoxalock the same day and I couldn't go to DMV after. I called the company to try and speak with a manager but the sales rep and the customer service reps would not let me speak to a manager. The manager never called back even though I gave my number for a call back. Since it was the company's mistake I wanted them to fix it the same day and priority mail the paperwork but no didn't do that and they wouldn't let me speak with a manager. This business is a joke. They are all about making money. There are so many other fees that they don't disclose.
My dui was not due to alchohol so if i wanted to go out and drive high and kill someone this stupid device would not stop me
This is the most money hungry company i have ever in my 36 years of life dealt with. Theyare making me pay for a full month due to my eligibility date falling on a Saturday which is completely out of my control. From sat til mon a 100 bucks when i have payed them plenty enuff. I totally agree with the person that wrote about someone being killed due to a "Rolling Blow" There were many times that I merged into traffic while blowing into it. It is even worse when you're driving in the snow & it does a "Rolling Blow" I would go into a panic mode :( When I was sick I could hardly breathe into it...I almost had to call the cops ...so...
