Online fraud - unauthorized credit card charges
I asked a question for which I was asked after chating with a bot to pay a $1 fee for assistance. I willingly did. The bot redirected me to another bot that was supposedly the technician that would help me solve my problem. Then a paywall for another $39 appeared, which I believe was a membership fee and which I refused. I explicitly stated in the chat box that I am opting out and do not wish to receive assistance any more.
My card was still charged for $47 dollars. I contacted my bank to alert them on the fraudulent transaction and I froze my card.
I subsequently answered one of their many emails that had already flooded my inbox asking for reviews, but I only received a generic email reply sent by another bot, and when I opted to talk to customer care, yet another fake bot by the name pearl wilson (I looked her up on the internet and she only exists on justask, sometimes as a veterinarian's assistant, sometimes as a lawyer's assistant, sometimes as an expert's assistant) started chatting with me until I mentioned my attorney and litigating, at which point she was unavailable and the chat shut off.
I then received an email by a jeff cavellini, likely a real person, who claims my membership is cancelled and I will not be charged again.
Desired outcome: I want the fraudsters to be held legally accountable and the public to be protected from this scam website.

Recurring monthly billing not approved
I was attempting to repair my dryer and found this site on the web. I did an online chat which did not answer my questions that were going to charge me $1.00. me
For the last 10 months, they have been billing me $34.00 for membership that I never authorized. I had to have my bank cancel my debit cards in order to make it stop.
I have not found a way to recover the $340.00

Scam, no customer services
I was seeking legal counsel, a link on Google redirected me to this website and it indicated for a question to be answered I just had to pay $5 which was fully refundable.
I was charged $5 and $69 immediately after this. My Questions were not even answered by an actual human.
They denied my refund and said I accepted all terms and conditions.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
Desired outcome: My full refund

"monthly fee" fraud
I was looking to contact Microsoft support regarding a question I had with Office.
JustAnswer managed to infiltrate Microsoft support pages, and somehow, while searching for support contact methods, I ended up in their website, which had the look and feel of a Microsoft support contractor. Up to here, it was just me being dumb.
As many other users reported, they state that getting a question answered will cost $1, but at some point - so they say - it is mentioned that they will keep charging $45 a month until this is cancelled. I don't remember seeing this at any point (as opposed to the very large and clear $1 fee for the question), but their representative said the "monthly fee" appears at the payment stage.
Naturally, they refused to refund me for the "monthly fees" when I asked them too, claiming that I did not consent to the monthly fees.
I cancelled my "membership" (which I did not apply for) and printed the "purchase history", which is also fallacious: a single monthly charge appears there while my credit card was already charged twice.
Although I cancelled my "membership", my credit card details are still stored in their records and I can see them in my billing details in my account page. I asked them specifically to delete them, they did it then rudely disconnected the chat session when I asked them to remove my user account entirely.
Finally, I started the process with them just to see where the charges are mentioned. In the onboarding process, only the initial $1 payment is mentioned. Only in the credit card form it appears, in small letters to make sure it goes unnoticed. Needless to say, this considerable fee was not mentioned anywhere else. Both screens are attached
Desired outcome: I want to be refunded for the monthly fees (2 x $45). The initial fee - they deserve it.
I confirm that refund has been made and the complaint can be resolved.
I have replied via email and provided the work email address used to register with the service.
Refund was issued after discussing the matter again with a compnay representative.

Unauthorized credit card charges.
I used their service and agreed to a $2 single-question fee. I am a student with little to no money that was looking for a quick second opinion on a chronic medical issue.
The website did not outline that I would also be paying a $79 CAD membership fee which I found on my statement today (less than 24 hours later). I did not authorize this charge - the website did not confirm this charge nor was there an official receipt sent afterwards (which is legal requirement in Canada) so if I hadn’t checked my I wouldn’t have known they had charged me this unlawful fee.
Upon requesting a refund I was both told “I am disconnecting from this chat” and hung up on. I would like a refund.
Desired outcome: Immediate Refund of $79 CAD
I have already reached out twice. You have my name for my account from this post (tara_stamnes@hotmail.com) . Please issue my refund.
A so called expert working at justanswer.co.uk
I logged an issue with justanswer.co.uk in relation to my gas boiler , I had to provide my bank details , they stated they would take 1 euro and reimburse it, then they give you the option of speaking with someone , when one clicks yes to this they automatically take 17.55 euro even though you haven't been informed of this upfront and there is no way of stopping the process at this stage.
I was then put in contact with a guy called James and had a verbal communication with him , he instructed me to inspect certain aspects of the complaint in question and we then finished the call.
I wasn't happy with the minimal amount of instruction given so communicated on the chat form with James again ,
What followed was a charade of abuse, I will attach the transcript
This guy should not be dealing with the public and is not mentally stable
There is no platform on justanswer.co.uk for making a formal complaint
What can I do to get this guy reprimanded
here is a transcript of the interaction
Hi I have a baxi boiler less than a year old which is not working
JA: Are you getting any error codes or blinking lights on your Baxi boiler?
Customer: No, there is no electricity coming to the boiler
JA: How long has this been going on with your Baxi boiler? What have you tried so far?

Hi. I'm. Based in Ennis co Clare. It was installed less than a year ago. The guy who installed it will not answer his phone. I am a landlord of the property. the tenants have no heating or hot water
James HVAC Technician
Where there is no life on the boiler its likely the isolation switch \ fused spur has been turned off
James HVAC Technician
As discussed it sounds like the fused spur has been turned off or fuse blown so start by checking the power is getting to the boiler
What the technician recommended did not work. He said there would be a switch that could be off by mistake or the fuse on this unit could be blown. Thid switch does not exist. The wire goes straight to the MCB board
What he recommended did not work. Was I just charged €18 for this?. The boiler is in warranty. I want an engineer out to fix it now
James HVAC Technician
Sorry to hear your boiler has not been installed as per manufacturer recommendations. I can only advise what is recommended by the Baxi if your installer has chosen not to install the boiler as per Baxi recommendations thats something for you to take up with your installer who did a bodge job.
Where you are now confident power is going to the boiler (since you already confirmed you checked the MCB) then it has to be a faulty circuit board, which would need a service visit. This can be arranged by calling [protected]
I have contacted that number and they indicate to email the warranty team, I would think its baxi's issue to have qualified engineers and not botch people installing boilers, I will take this legal if needs be
James HVAC Technician
You are welcome to take legal advice, I can only provide details on best practice, and have no knowledge of the cow boys you employ to install gas appliances in your properties.
I employ individuals who are supposedly qualified gas installers.
James HVAC Technician
As I say its your choice as to the "individuals" you chose, but the install is not done to manufacturer specification so you may run into similar issues if asking for advice for your boiler in the future.
Do ye not have a system to ensure only qualified reputable individuals install your products
James HVAC Technician
Its Ireland anyone who is qualified can install any boiler, the responsibility is on the customer (or landlord) finding a reputable company, had you gone to Baxi you would have been given a company who would have installed it as specified but opted for a cheaper more questionable contractor.
How do you know I opted for a cheaper option. How date you. I will be reporting you. Reflect on your answers.
How dare you instead of how date you
This guy James is an ignorant individual. He should not be in this job. Self righteous idiot
James HVAC Technician
Says the person cutting corners to maximise profits on a rental, I stand by the answers and urge you to consider those you contract to perform works in your properties in future.
Wow. How unprofessional are you. How do you know that I am cutting corners. You definitely need to be taken off this forum. You are bonkers.
James HVAC Technician
You are welcome to your views as am I, but the 3000 + customers I have helped would disagree with your feedback.
I can only assume that by having the boiler not installed as per manufacturers specification suggests it was done on the cheap, had you as stated previously gone down the correct route and contact an approved Baxi installer we wouldn't be having this exchange.
Have a good day.
I will be making a formal complaint about your responses hopefully you will be brought down
James HVAC Technician
All feedback is welcome, but go and be a keyboard warrior somewhere else, as I say I stand by my comments and answers.
You're delusional, you must not be very busy and I can see why
James HVAC Technician
I have forward our exchange to the RTB whom may take the information into account in any future dispute.
Yes I am right. You are totally bonkers.
James HVAC Technician
Appreciate your clinical diagnosis, but think we are all a little bonkers when you look at whats going on in the world.

This caused my elderly mother to think "I can afford 2$" and she proceeded to enter her credit card number. She then unknowingly became a member that costs 66$ a month. If you actually type in the website into your browser, the misleading page does not appear. It appears through sponsored link when using a search engine. The sponsored link (when clicked) shows a page and a text bubble so that preoccupied people can immediately start typing their questions. It does not look like there is any info on the first page but in fact, you can scroll down to eventually find that there is a 66$ charge.
My elderly mother thought that this meant she could pay a one-time fee of 2$ or opt for a monthly subscription of 66$ due to the visual she got on the first page only talking about the 2$.This company is preying on the elderly. If they truly believed that their service was worth the 66$ a month that they charge, the fee would be displayed right next to the 2$ instead of using the 2$ one-time fee as bait. When calling theit customer service line, they claim to have a AAA rating with the better business bureau which i believe is false.
Desired outcome: Refund
I called justanswer this morning and they are claiming that one of the three monthly fees will be reimbursed. This remains to be seen and is still not satisfactory since they have drained an elderly lady on her pension out of $200 over the last three months for a question regarding medication that they are not equipped to answer.
Unauthorized credit card charges by .Justanswer
I am an 80 year old Australian missionary priest working in Indonesia. I signed up with Justanswer to ask one simple question and was assured I would be charged on $aud 2.50.
Now I have discovered that thy have been charging $aud 68.00 to my credit card account for this past 2 month. They refuse to give me a refund, even after explaining who I was and that I live on my pension. Regard this as despicable behavior.
Desired outcome: Please refund

Last week I had a trouble with a subsicription on an app provided by I Tunes, it was the first time I had such a problem and I was not sure how to cancel it and get it a refund, I googled and I found Justanswer on google and I filled out the requiered information and was aware that I had to pay £1 to proceed which I paid. I chatted with someone who couldn't proceed to further help unless I pay £27 which I refused to pay so I eneded the chat. Just yetserday on 25/Feb I was surprised and rather upset to find out that £35 has been taken by Justanswer without my consent and for no services of whatsoever I had already got. I tried to contact them to explain the situation but I was atumatically dircted to other links where I had to pay again th chat with an "expert"

Monthly subscription
My mother-in-law who is in her 80s and has progressing memory and other ailments sought out the services of JustAnswer back in May 2021. She had no idea that she was signing up for a monthly service for $35+ per month. We just recently had to move her into assisted living, and in reviewing her financials discovered this continuing monthly fee. We called JustAnswer customer support and they said there was nothing they could do, they stated the website clearly states the terms, etc. We asked to speak to a manager and they stated as well, sorry, nothing we can do, not obligated by law, etc. I see there was a class action lawsuit also against JustAnswer, and although no admission of guilt, they settled. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law, although technically would have been eligible for the suit, is just now discovering this monthly fee. This company is making money on elderly who are unknowingly committing to a monthly fee of which they are not receiving any services for in return! It is outrageous! Shame on JustAnswer!
Desired outcome: JustAnswer should do the right thing and refund the over $600 my mother-in-law has been charged for a service she has not used, nor knew that she had.

Unauthorized monthly membership charge
I authorized a $5 payment to use JustAnswer only one time in January of 2023. I received my bank statement today and there is a charge of $46.00 by JustAnswer on February 7, 2023. I demand a full refund of this amount and will be contacting my bank on this next business day to refuse any more recurring charges from this company. I did not authorize a monthly membership of any kind. I will be asking my bank to investigate this charge as well, and to be sure no charges other than the $5 I authorized have been taken from my checking account. I have never received any kind of confirmation notifying me of a successful charge for this monthly payment, which again I did not authorize. I had no idea this was or would be taken from my account.
Desired outcome: I request a full refund of this unauthorized charge and would like an explanation for why and how this happened.
After reading the other complaints, I am sure I will find a second charge of $46 or more taken out of my account on the day that I used JustAnswer. I will be collecting my checking account records for both January and February 2023, and if I find any more charges, I demand they be refunded as well. What a fkin scam.

Service charge
Jan24/2023 I went to the website, paid $.200 that was supposed to provide me with an answer. I did not talk or chat with an agent because I closed the webpage. I received my credit card statement with a charge of $66.00? For what. I want to be reimbursed asap. This is a fraud charge and want it removed and an answer why the company took the charge of $66.00 from my credit card. I will contact the better business bureau of Canada and also the fraud department for my credit card.
Desired outcome: i want the charge removed. and answers why it was done. . i expect a full refund and for the company to remove my credit card information so no other charges made on my credit card. please resolve asap.

Tech help
2/17/2023
Dear Customer Care Service:
On November 29, 2022, I had a question about my laptop and was told there as a service fee of $6 I stupidly agreed. Then I saw a charge of $47.00 appear on my credit card. I immediately hung up without speaking to anyone. I tried to cancel payment on my credit card; but I was not only charged in November but subsequently charge in December 2022 and January 2023.
I never received any help, nor did I ever agree to a membership for one question. This is a scam! To rip off gullible and careless people. I spoke to Janet in your customer service department, and she refuse to refund my never agreed upon membership, though she offered to it cancelled from today. That is not fair! The fee and automatic should have been made clearly from the beginning. I will try to contact the Better Business Bureau in San Francisco.
Thanks for picking on a senior citizen,

Desired outcome: Refund all payments and make your charges clear from the beginning!!

I think it was a question on French Drains
Hello, I called you people a few months ago, asked a question and was told you needed more information in order to answer me properly. I ignored you as I figured my problem out myself. I saw later that you took out money $53.00 CD from my account and I said nothing because I figured that this was your fee for asking and I let it go. However I noticed that you have been deducting money from me every month since, however I have not asked for any more of your assistance.
I want this stopped. I have not been able to find a proper way of unsubscribing so if it does not stop I will have to take it further. Today is February 16, 2023 and you can keep what you took and I will take it as a cost of my own lesson for stupidity, but stop any further withdraws.
If I dont hear a response from you in the next few days I will take this further and ask for a full refund.

Subscription/Customer service
I called for an emergency with my dog, they didn’t answer my question for hours (at which time we had already admitted her to their ER). They then charged me for several months following (my fault for not seeing sooner, I know) for a subscription that I declined and was told I would not be signed up for. They lie and scam and then are impossibly difficult to get in touch with. Horrible company, slow service. DO NOT recommend!
