KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool, whose vision and mission prides itself in being the best kitchen and laundry company and in constant pursuit of IMPROVING life at home; earning trust and creating a demand for their brands… would YOU actually sell and stand by a defective product.
We want a replacement for our defective refrigerator.
Here is the story of our never-ending saga…
We purchased your premium KitchenAid® refrigerator model number #KRMF706ESS; serial number KB3706039 on November 7, 2022. It was delivered to my new home on February 2023.
From the moment it was purchased, we complained about rattling noise. Since it was still under warranty, we placed a service order, and an appointment was made for June 7, 2023. Flamingo Appliance Repair came to inspect the refrigerator and concluded the following:
Inspected unit ran all diagnostics and test 4 could not recreate noise. Runs ot manufacturers specs. Informed and educated customers on the function of unit.
Unsatisfied with the report as the rattling continued, we placed another service order, and an appointment was made for December 22, 2023. Flamingo Appliance Repair came to inspect the refrigerator and concluded the following:
Troubleshoot unit, found all doors were discolored. Advised customer to try using a stainless-steel brightener compound to make doors shine again. Advised cosmetic warranty is only 30 days, and if they wanted to replace doors, they would have to pay for the doors and the labor to install. Also found re evaporator clogged with ice. Will need to order evap cover, fan, and controls and return to install and complete repair.
We were advised to purchase an extended warranty. We did, it expires in 2026.
We were also informed that this service repair would resolved the rattling noise. It did not!
Once again, the rattling noise continues. We placed yet another service order, and an appointment was made for July 10, 2024. Flamingo Appliance Repair came to inspect the refrigerator and concluded the following:
Troubleshoot unit, found unit not making noise at time of inspection. Customers have another video of the unit making loud noise. Customers are disappointed about the continuing noise from unit. The noise can last for 20 minutes or longer. Uploaded video to techline. Spoke with Travis at techline, advised since unit is cooling properly, issue is being treated as noise complaint. Referred customer to customer service for possible resolution. ref#.[protected]
Out of desperation, we reached out to AIG Resolution Specialist / AIG Whirlpool Service Plans on August 13, 2024, and emailed them four separate videos recordings of the rattling noise. They concluded that the refrigerator was working properly per the specifications.
Reflecting on your mission and vision, I wondered how this could be possible?
We purchased this KitchenAid at a cost of over $3,300. not to mention the cost of the additional warranty.
We are extremely disappointed in not only the product BUT the level of service or lack thereof.
As was stated in the beginning of this letter, we are requesting replacement unit equal to the cost of this current defective unit.
The refrigerator continues to make the rattling noise on an even larger scale.
Your immediate attention is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Marvin and Jessica Boykin
