flawed design
This is the worst screen door I have ever purchased. I have a screen which rolls up and becomes an all glass door. The first door's screen split along the bottom and when I called for a replacement, the company told me that I would get a replacement screen but I had to install it myself and it was was really easy. I got the screen, it had 9 pages of instructions and it was a two man job. I immediately called Lowe's to complain and they sent someone over and he told me that they sent the wrong screen size. He re-ordered, came back and told me the second screen I received was still the wrong size, upon which I called Lowe's extremely irate and they told me I would get a new door. Fast forward 8 mos and the pistons don't work properly, the door either slams like crazy or stays open halfway through AND from all the slamming, the glass has shifted and I can't latch it closed. I called Lowe's again since I told them when they re-installed that if anything happens again, I am requesting they replace it with a Pella- which I have in the back and works perfectly fine ( which is amazing since I believe it is the same company now). We'll see what happens but stay away from these doors.

will not honor warranty
My experience was like everyone else's. Larson simply refuses to honor their warranty. They'll offer you a new door core (without the glass, screen, handle, closer, frame, etc.) and you have to pay the shipping cost of $50! Or you can go buy a new piece-of-crap door and they'll give you $50 off. How is that 50% of the current price, as stated in the warranty? Don't bother asking them. They'll give you more run-around and lies than you've ever heard from a "customer service" rep anywhere.
There really should be a class action suit against Larson.
After several phone calls in which I told them I would be filing complaints with the BBB, the supervisor, Mary, hung up on me. But when I called back, they finally agreed to send me the new p.o.c. core free- no shipping charge. Don't give up. Just make them miserable until they give in.
Having a problem with my warranty as well with Larson Doors. Both doors are deteriorating but since I had a lifetime warranty plus, I wasn't concerned until they wanted to charge me $80.00 and just replace the core which I had to install myself. If there is a class action suit against this company, please put me on the list

bottom bubbling and falling apart
We purchased a Larson Door and installed it ourselves. It was one of the full glass doors, and one of the more expensive ones. We thought if we purchased the better one it would last longer, and it was beautiful in the beginning. About 2 years later it started showing a bubbling below the glass on the inside. As time went on it got worse and worse and then started eating out on the outside. Now we are afraid to open it, because we are afraid the frame will fall apart. I contacted Larson and they said to go online and fill out the complaint form and submit pictures. I checked this out, and after going through all this trouble all they wanted to do was send me a new frame around the window. We finally did what they wanted us to do in the beginning, GAVE UP! We are buying a new door, but we will never buy another Larson, and we are showing everyone what a Larson door will do. I think if they had offered to replace the whole door, instead of taking it apart and only replace part of it, they would still have us as a customer. As it is, they have lost us forever. and we have several doors that need storm doors.

I am a contractor, purchased a door and installed it. Paid my help to do it. After installation noticed small bubble in panel at bottom section of door. Company will not warranty any labor. Posted on their face book site and they blocked me from posting. When you buy a Larson Door have the seller open the box take the door out so you can thoroughly inspect it outside in sunlight then re-box it up. If they won't then I suggest buying another product. This is what it has lead to for me as a contractor. The company wants nor takes any responsibility for its merchandise.
They do not stand behind their warranty. Our door /buckled/busted open after only two years. Both doors we had before did the same thing. They want us to pay $30 to get a new core no windows no nothing but the core. The whole door though very expensive is not worth $30. LARSON sucks! Their doors do NOT hold up to the out doors. They need to quit calling them storm doors and call them *** doors.

BEWARE! Purchase Larson Door Model # 34920 if you want to run the risk of MANY days of aggravation, personal insults, condesending lectures, and lack of customer support. The installer is at fault with Larson. This could be true in some cases, but when the " installer" has hung 100's of Larson doors, follows ALL video, written, and verbal instruction...

false representation, no customer service rip off consumer
I have a larsen storm door and it was under warrenty. The door was defective. It was coroding from the inside out. i had to take pics and send all the info to them for them to decide to warrenty it or not. They charged me $30.00 So i take the old door off and get ready to put the new one on and the door bottom was corred to the door. Back again to Menards. They said i have to order one. i didnt have the numbers of the door. Back today and billed 34.00 for the expander they call it. All they care about expanding is there wallet. How do you know if the expanders bad to ? They sent me a stripped door and you have to take everything off the old one to put on the new one. Master craft doors are way better. NEVER BUY A LARSEN . BUY A MASTER CRAFT!

I will never buy a Larson door again. Their warranty and service is complete crap! I purchased one with a retractable screen. In under 2 years, the cheap plastic screen anchor has ripped (not their problem $35 replacement for the entire screen), the sliding window always slides down after the door has closed a few times due to the lock not securely locking (again, not their problem replacement cost unknown) and a closer snapped off ($42 replacement). They would be happy to order and ship the parts to me for over $100. This already on top of a special order premium price. I too have the problem of the gap allowing cold air to come streaming in. I've had full glass doors that have been more weather tight than this piece of junk. The replacement cost is going to be devoted to a real quality door. I'll use this one on the barn.
We just had a Larson door installed by a Menard's-recommended local contractor about 4 months ago. The weather has since turned very cold and we now have gaps on the sides of the door where ice and snow are blowing in. It appears that the door has somehow contracted or shrunk as the latch on the door will not even hold because the gap is too great. We called Larson and were told that it is due to our 45-year-old house "shifting" and that we needed to adjust the Z-Bar (described as the entire side metal plate of the door that is attached with screws). We were also told that there is a possibility we will need to adjust the door back again when warmer weather returns. I have never heard of doing this with any other storm door! But Larson was adamant about it not being their problem, so we are installing another brand of door immediately. We would be happy to join any class action case that may arise! Their service and warranty is awful !
storm doors
We just bought a Larson storm door. When we started to install it, we realized we didn't have any screws at all. So we had to go buy screws for it. The instructions are useless. They make no sense at all. We finally have the frame up and ready to put the glass in, but the instructions does not go into detail on how to do that. We also noticed that we don't have the screws to install the closer. I think if you pay $196.00 (before taxes) you should get everything you need to install the door. I have tried to get on Larson's website, but I can't get it pulled up.

unable to contact
I was considering buying a Larson door until I watched the fellow at Lowe's keep getting a busy signal on his special number.
I have called Larson's toll free numbers listed on both their lit and web site to ask an installation question . 9 times I listened to the apology message of being busy, please call back. No direct phone number is on their web site.
Shop with a company who you cannot contact? NOT me.

damage door
We recently replaced 2 storm doors and a main front door which we purchased from Gunderson Hardware in Montpelier, Idaho. They were all 3 Larson doors. One of the stoirm doors has a wrinklied screen and the closers won't work right. We contacted them and they contacted your representative from Idaho Falls who came down here but never bothered to come and look at the problem. Now we aqre not very happy with the service we are receiving and do expect to hear from you on this matter as soon as possible.

awful company
I am experiencing the exact thing as Peggy from Brecksville, Ohio whose report I read on your website. I am wondering whether we can start some kind of class action suit because I'm sure if you investigate this matter you will find that there are a lot of other people with the same problem. These storm doors deteriorate because of moisture being held in the...

I purchased a custom made $400.00 Larson door seven years ago from The Home Depot in Brooklyn Heights, Ohio. My door developed bubbles at the bottom and soon began to eat through the core of the door. The door had a 10 year warranty on it and the bottom portion ate right through the door, so you could almost see right through it. Larson's warranty was not explanatory and the customer would normally believe that they would receive a complete new door with the warranty Larson Doors has. I was shocked to have found out that Larson Door warranty consisted of the customer having to pay $25 to receive a 'core' only from the door. It would be the customer's responsibility to remove the hardware, Z-bar, handle, windows, screens, etc from the old door and drill holes and place the old hardware into the new core that would arrive by Fed Ex. What a joke that was! I would have had to hire a handy man to drill holes in a new core and who would place old hardware on a new door? It wouldn't be worth the trouble to get the new core.
I found that Larson Doors was extremely difficult to contact. When I called their number, I received a recording saying that they were busy and to go to the online website. When I went to the online website and tried filling out the form, everything was deleted, because there was a problem with their website and I was not able to submit my information, so I had to start all over again.
Larson doors requires a lot of information when filling out their form. The customer must take pictures of their door, the damaged area, the corner of the door where the Larson symbol is, and the outside of their door. Then, the customer must measure the door, but not the complete door. They must present accurate measurements, or they lose, because if the door arrives and the customer did not measure correctly, it's the customer's fault.
Larson Doors makes it hard on the customer on purpose, so the customer gives up and doesn't take advantage of the warranty. I found them to be a big hassle.
I called Home Depot and expressed my feelings on this and how upset I was at the hassle that Larson Doors was giving me. Home Depot said that's why they stopped dealing with Larson Doors. In spite of Home Depot not carrying Larson Doors anymore, Home Depot cared about customer service and before I knew it, they called me, came to visit my home, and placed a new door on my house from Anderson and gave me a whole new warranty. I can't express my thanks enough to Home Depot and to Dan, Frank, and the rest of the crew for handling matters in such a professional and satisfying way. Thumbs up to Brookly Heights, Ohio Home Depot.

I need a simple replacement part from Larson that is not carried by any distributors. I have been calling into the entire phone system for 3 hours and then unable to get through. It does not put you on hold it just hangs up. Obviously they don't want any future customers. Buyer beware
I have a Larson storm door after a few years the handle broke I called and they sent me one to me at no charge they were very polite and great to deal with about a year later the handle stopped working correctly and they were very nice and sent me another one at no charge these guys are very nice and great to deal with
These doors slam after 3 months and customer service wants nothing to do with you after they got your money.
I bought 2 storm doors less than 6 months old and both are swelling on the bottom due to wicking up because they are open on the bottom, what a stupid design, why are they still selling them ?
Do not buy a storm door from Larson. Fogs up all the time so you can't enjoy a view through the door. When I called to discuss, they simply dismissed me, were very condescending with statements like "let's take a step back, am I explaining it so you can understand". Unacceptable customer interactions. I will spread the word to anyone and everyone.
I Bought two Larsen storm doors, and one of them the aluminum around the bottom is oxidizing (rotting). it supposedly has a "lifetime warranty". When I called the company, they said I had to pay a $30. shipping fee & all im going to get is the core. I have to replace all of the parts myself. don't get me wrong, Im capable of doing it BUT I refuse to pay anything on something thats has a lifetime warranty. Next storm door will NOT be a Larsen. in my previous house I had a Andersen storm door & had a problem, And the company sent a service rep out & replaced the whole door free of charge. THATS a lifetime warranty.
Was your door a wood core door? If so what do you expect? Buy an aluminum door and see how long that lasts. Mine is going on 18 years and looks great! I will buy nothing but a larson door!
I wish I had read all these complaints before I purchased my Larson storm door.
First, the core failed after 2 years - was replaced at no cost, except for shipping, but I had to pay an installer.
Now, 7 years later, the hinges failed, despite the hydraulic door closer for protection. Since model no longer available, and hinge installation totally different, I had to purchase all new assembly - frame and all. - No warranty honored. I'm going to have to pay installer again.
I had a core replaced at no charge a few years ago - well within the 10 yr window that was great. It was a pain switching the door out but I managed
Now I have a broken handle. The warranty doesn't specifically exclude the handle, but the one they read me over the phone did. How convenient for them to rewrite the warranty.
