I closed on my new Lennar Townhome on 2/23/08. Agreed that a walk through was done prior to closing on the home and I did site a few things that need repaired. One thing was my main wall in my living room was severely bowed. There were a few holes in the sheetrock and a large nail sticking out of the handrail on the stairs. I have now been in my Lennar townhome for 1-1/2 years and my ceramic tile in my entry way has a crack running through the tiles, All of the rounded corners to the walls are splitting and I mean all of the rounded corners in the house, all of the fixtures in the bathrooms have fallen out of the walls because the screws did not hold and tore the sheetrock, The shower curtain rod in the upstairs bathroom will not stay up it falls and I put it up every single day, (not major but a hassle), a few months after I moved into the home, a leak developed in my front bedroom. I sent a work order for the roof to be repaired and the ceiling to be fixed. Now, hurricane Ike comes to Texas and guess what? Low and behold, the ceiling in the front bedroom caves in. Oh and it is right where the leak was the very first time. That is where it started.
Do you think this homebuilder is going to take responsibility for their shoddy homebuilding workmanship? Take a look on the internet. Their are thousands of complaints against this particular homebuilder even as far as California, Florida, and Texas.
Who is going to make this company correct these problems? I assure you that Lennar is not being held liable for these homes. If they were, Lennar would not be building these homes consistently with shoddy workmanship. I would say that someone needs to stand up for the consumer. I personally would like to file legal action against this home builder.
Angry at Lennar
Pasadena Texas
Very shoddy workmen ship, found out that the crew that built our home was fired, thats how shoddy it is.
I don't know where to start, first there were no vents on the top of our roof, they for got to put them in, all 8 of them. The conners of the windows and the floor trim are not smooth and the window edges catch your clothing when you go to close the windows. And your skin too, it hurts. The counter top bar part is so weak that when you lean on it, it moves and now stuff rolls off of it. The trim doesn't meet the floor in some rooms where there is tile
In the attic, well what can I say, if you have a Lennar home go look in the attic at the beams and how the nials stick out and the wood is not flush with the other beams. They tied our docking up with some kind of string from the beams.
There is alot more, but I don't want to go into all of it.
Some dream home, we paid too much, moved to fast because we had to get out of a apartment or pay more rent, and this is what happens. Lennar should have to make these things right. We were the 2 owners, and it was a year old when we bought it.
We ran out to time, got them to put the vents in, but didn't have time for the rest!
Good Luck getting Lennar to take care of any of your problems over 3 years ago a man was electricuted while he was installing a new dryer in a Lennar home that was improperly wired and not grounded, the entire house was energised. He left 2 young children and a disabled wife as a matter of fact it happened on his daughter's first birthday Sept. 20th 2004, and it continues today so how fast do you think they will be concerned about your problems when they are dragging their heels taking care of this matter, I urge you to have an independent inspector check out your electrical problems if you have any, it is amazing that they are still in buisness. They have paid off a man who had 1 of the most powerful anti Lennar web pages going, after a 4 year battle with them, and a woman in 1 of their sub divisions who used signs on her car advertising this man's electricution and the now down web site since they had paid him off but amazing that they don't care about the children and wife of a man who lost his life due to their and their sub contractors shoddy and just down right unlegal practice's . They were all reported to the Department of Professional Liscence and the county inspector's lost their position but no action was taken against their subs, not surprising. So I can say I agree with your complaint I just wish you Good Luck in your persuit in getting Lennar or their subs to stand up and take any action or responcibility for any of your problems and do the right thing, as they will not even stand up and do the right thing for the death of a common man just doing his job, trying to provide for his family.
I have a Lennar Home and this builder should be shut down. One of our problems is a cracked slab and the house tilting which was proven by Lennars engineer and a woman name DARIS with Lennar told us it was our fault because we need to clean out the gutters more often. Painting was never completed, electrical problems, alarm problems, roof problems, ceilings saging down, we had to buy items that Lennar was suppose to furnish and the list goes on and on. I have also learned that they treat employees like crap. FIGHT CRIME, OBOLISH LENNAR HOMES. DO NOT BUY ONE THESE HOMES BUILT BY THESE PEOPLE. LENNAR SUCKS!
Completely agree. Live in a retirement community and have been fighting Lennar for 2 years over heating issues. Cannot get my family room above 65 degrees even though heat is set at 70. They claim that their heating system meets the minimum heating variance tests and that each room in my home can be between 5-6 degrees different. This is a major problem for me since temperatures this winter have been in the 20s and 30s. Other problems also but they are to numerous to post.
DO NOT BUY LENNAR. PLEASE ADVISE ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO ADVISE THEIR FRIENDS AND THEN THEIR FRIENDS. GET THE WORD OUT. DO NOT BUY LENNAR.
I am in California and recently viewed a unfinished new construction. As there is no carpet covering the floor and staircase, I found the material used to build the staircase is of bad quality, I am not sure whether it meets the building code. The top board of the steps of the staircase is a sort of composite engineering wood made from saw dust, not plywood. I saw at least at two steps, right at the edge of the top board, a small piece of the board is broken. It seems to me that this damage was caused by somebody stepping through the staircase, and standing near the edge of the step. If these defects are not fixed, after the staircase is covered by carpet, the new home buyer will not notice it. However, when they walk through the steps, they may be injured when they fall down due to the broken edges.
For your own safety...do NOT buy LENNAR. They are a horrible company ran by horrible people down in Miami. I heard that poor Stuart Miller ONLY made a little over one million last year...poor thing.
Lennar Corp. are the biggest corporate ### out there. They are ripping people off in Miami, FL. by Selling condos for 250, 000 when they are really worth $80, 000. Poor construction. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
Julio Neira the sales manager is a top corporate ### too.
The truth about Lennar
http://www.lenn-ron.com
Lennar is horrid! We have been our townhome since 2005 & had problems since day1.
The half "pony" wall that leads up the stairs and to the loft MOVED back & forth, like a door. We told them to fix it, they tried insulting our intelligence, saying that those walls were "supposed" to move back and forth. They were designed and engineered to do that, we weren't architects, we wouldn't understand. My husband has worked in construction and let them know it. We threatened to walk away, they begrudginly fixed it, after the foreman got into a yelling match with my husband, but guess what? 4 years later, it has started to move and has a crack in it. Our air ducts are a joke. Some rooms freeze while others get no a.c. in them at all. They all have open vents- just some have no actual duct work?
We have a leak and the pipes are under the driveway. Lennar says they don't have to give us any info on how those pipes were laid- indeed they don't even have a schematic for the lay out of certain water pipes. They just put them "wherever". They are different at each house.
Our neighbors have all had numerous problems. I know of several of my neighbors who are moving/have moved because of it, vowing never to buy Lennar again. We paid extra for upgraded carpet that we were told we got, but indeed we did not. We asked for a paper trail, some sort of proof that we got the carpet we paid for- that never materialized.
The cabinets in the kitchen are not only cheap but were thrown together. It appears as if these people are in such a hurry/lazy they can't do anything right.
There are several problems with the concrete slab that we discovered after ripping up our cheap carpet to put down wood floors. Concrete slab so uneven, we would place a small ball in one spot just to watch it roll to another. Ditto with our counter tops/bar. Poor construction, cracks in the ceilings and walls less than a year after we moved in. We have now been in this house 4 years and have constantly been fixing things. But today really was the icing on the cake. Again, due to poor work, we had to take the silicone facade off of our master bathtub, exposing the wood work underneath- to try and figure out why our bathtub had a dip in one side, why the caulking was coming up and why it seems as though the whole thing was just ready to rip off the wall. My husband located the problem, but we got an extra little surprise. I will try to attach photos for all to see. We found mounds of leftover trash AND a 4 year old, 20 oz coke bottle full of urine under the bathtub! Thanks Lennar! As tomorrow is Labor Day, I will have to wait until Tuesday to contact the BBB, and possibly a lawyer. I am already contacting all 5 of the major news stations here in Houston. I remember on one of our many visits to our homesite, that the toilet in the mater was, for whatever reason, one of the last things installed. The tub was there first. And I think we all know about the coke bottle trick, when a guy is desperate for a pee. But to "forget" it in the walls? Or wsa this just an angry foreman's revenge? Makes you go "hhmm". My dead grandmother could have built a better house. If you are looking to buy a home please go somewhere else!
Just filed complaint with the BBB against Lennar. Leak in gable vent in brand new home. Lennar claims not responsible for rain entering the home! We need repairs to our wood floor due to bad installation and bad past repair attemps. Our originial flooring is no loger available. Lennar told us we must accept a different finish on the part of the floor that needs the repair. Lennar claims it is pefectly ok and industry standard to have the two different floor finishes in our new home. Lennar forgot to place the flashing between the stucco and stone in front of our home. If we want a repair we would have to settle for stucco that would not match. How can this company can get away with this? It seems so unfair to the consumer who in good faith purchased the home. If you read their brochure it seems that they do everything for the homeowner. This is not true in our situation and we know others are out there. We hope the BBB wil help us. More people need to speak up about this horrible company. We do love our community and the new friends we made here. That is what keep us somewhat sane
Please if you have problems fight for what is right never give up!
Lennar sucks. I was a lucky person in Florida who got a townhome that was built with Chinese drywall. To avoid a lawsuit Lennar gutted the home to rebuild it, but I have been back in it for a week and have noticed tons of shoddy work. Several of the coaxial cables that run from the box to the room jacks were nailed through, they didn't replace my compressor like they were supposed to replace it, the carpet and appliances that they replaced were with cheaper versions, and I have already seen where they forgot to caulk seams. Furthermore, when I came in to inspect the place when it was gutted I noticed the slab was cracked all over the place, which explained why we were having such terrible issues with ants in our building. I asked if they were going to caulk those cracks to stop the ants and their response was, " we don't do that." So, I had to take my own time and money and come in after hours and fill all the concrete cracks. The attitude of the management when you bring up issues is screw off. I will never ever buy another lennar home and I tell everyone to stay away from them if they know what is good for them.
