I was a victim of credit card fraud where my card details were comprised as a result of somebody stealing my phone purse with my IDs and everything in it that I had placed in my beach bag before going swiming at the beach. As a result this person in the small amount of time inflicted $18,000 + worth of damages to my savings by using all the cards which were linked to my other bank accounts as well as my main account to make outrageous purchases on flights, gift cards, clothing store, adult store and light in the box being $6,000 worth of damages alone. This all happen mid May 2022. I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and my husband was in palliative care for pancreatic cancer so I was not doing well in a sense that I was stressing dealing with my bank, acfa and going thru treatment that I was able to recover most funds with the support of my bank and Afca but eventually due to extensive treatment I wasn't able to continue with chasing after light in the box and had a year and a half break for myself to heal as my husband died last year and I was a mess. I've reach out to light in the box today with the police report, Afca complaint and bank letters to support my claims and to advised them that instead of pursing my bank for the funds they are telling me to go after light in the box instead as Afca also advised me to also which promted me to do so this morning. I honestly want my money back and not a penny more and I feel that light in the box have a duty of care to refund stolen money back to their rightful owners because it wasn't authorised by the card holder.
Claimed loss: $6,450.75
Desired outcome: To have this matter escalated accordingly and have that amount which was stolen from my account refunded back to the rightful owner
