Company can bombard you with purchasing BUT refuses to give credit when cancelling I am living out of the country and just received my statement. Called to cancel and get credit and was told they don't give back credit. What a ripoff ! How can this continue? Why isn't there a class action suit. Surely, they should not be permitted to refuse to credit what they charge if you are no longer using it.
Read full review of Match.comno refunds even if it's their fault
Id like to express how unprofessional and unhelpful this company has been. I tried canceling my profile two months ago and then a few days ago saw they took out another payment for 6 months after trying to cancel two months prior. After speaking to two reps from the company, they were not able to give me back the refund of $68.50. It had also been pretty clear that i havent been active on my profile for months and using common sense (Which them and their employees seem to lack) it would make sense as to why i tried canceling my profile two months ago. Wouldnt that make sense to anyone with a brain?! Clearly their website or app had a glitch and didnt get the cancel confirmation and now theyre making it my problem by not giving me a refund for the 6mo membership they recharged me for this week. Does that not make sense to these idiots? Is $70 really that important to them that they cannot give a refund to a loyal customer for years mind you?! Technically they already got me paying for those 4months when i wasnt even using it, but then theyre going to charge me for another 6months when their website clearly had a glitch when i tried to cancel?! Theyre not even willing to give $70 measley dollars back to a customer, obviously because $70 is really important to their gigantic company. Its not really about $70, its the principle of it. Making their website or app glitch their customers problem and making them pay for it over seventy dollars.
my account was blocked for no reason, no refund was issued
I enrolled to match.com on and off for years, the last time I enrolled my account was blocked, my current email is still blocked, I reached out to the customer support, they confirmed that my account was blocked but did not specify why, they said that once i agreed with their service agreement (although I did not violate any of them), they can't say why my account was blocked and can't issue a refund.
to say more, I have never had any criminal record, I went on a couple of dates in which I became friends with the girls i hangout with since there was no chemistry between us, but never had any issues whatsoever. This was the answer i received:

cancellation membership with prior notice/explanation
Totally cheating website! Do not waste your money!
They charged my credit card account $77 and cancel my membership without any notice! I requested to know the reasons of account cancellation and asked for a refund but the reps never tell me the reasons except they receive a validity-issued subpoena. That was the most ridiculous request i've ever heard. Who is going to spend their time and energy to ask for a subpoena just to know their reason? They are rude and don't treat customers respectfully. They are very unethical company, avoid them at all! Then I asked for help from my bank - wells fargo. After they did some investigation, I got my full refund. Guys, contact your bank! They will protect their value customers and dont let match.com take your money in any ways. Company like that should be closed by the federal long time ago. Do not let anyone to be their victims.
charged my credit card for 6-month subscription without my authorization
I was searching Match, com to see if there were any "new" profiles. When I did this the subscription page came up and then it instantly went to "congratulations! you have reactivated your membership". There was no credit card info and I did not give my consent or authorization. They charged my credit card for $119.94 for a six-month bundle.
I called Match's toll free number 6 times. The call centers must be over in India or the Middle East as everyone I spoke to had an accent and was impossible to understand. I was hung up on, and put on hold indefinitely for 4 out of the 6 calls I made. I was told each time I was ineligible for a refund.
Each time they asked me for my email, my phone number, my date of birth, and my zip code. When I told them I would subscribe for one month, they continued to tell me I was "ineligible" for a refund of any kind.
I have been a member of MATCH on and off for over 20 years. Match.com is a complete rip-off and I would strongly suggest you avoid this dating site at all costs. They are not customer service oriented, they are dishonest and by reviewing this site, I see I'm not the only one who got ripped off!
Already did and they told me they can't reverse the charges. I wouldn't need to post a complaint if I hadn't already taken that path.
Match.com did a similar rip-off on me, until I realized their tactic. I paid for an "Introductory" membership, and being underwhelmed by the site, I decided to terminate my membership. I filled in the information and clicked "send; then another screen was forced upon me to confirm my intention to terminate. Again, I filled in the information and clicked "send", and again another screen was forced upon me to discourage my intention. I decided that I had sufficiently communicated my decision, so I closed the browser without jumping through the third hoop. That's why they were "authorized" to charge my card without my approval or my awareness. I discovered the charge on my statement and cancelled the card to stop their thieving.
If your card carrier will not reverse the charges, then they believe the charges to be legitimate. That means, that they believe you were given ample warning of a charge at the time of purchase, and do not feel the charge is in error. Now as you state being a member off and on for 20 years, I have to believe that at some point you have used the internet to renew your subscriptions. If you have used the same card for these subscriptions, the card company has some indication that you know how to use the website in question, and have authorized these charges in the past. Simply speaking, you have clicked YES previously, more than once. Therefore, they believe, as do I, that you did so again.
I was going to ask how they got your card info, but I can see from your post that you have been a member for 20 years. If you did not authorize the charge, then instead of jumping on here to complain about it, call your card and contest the charge.
unable to cancel account while on web page
i'm trying to close down my match.com account and having problems the area which you can do this has moved and has become a password protection... which will not allow me pass saying incorrect details - i have meet someone and want to close down my account before they take another payment... as soon as i want to do this the account hides t but happly tells you if you don't close it down 24 hours before renewal date they will take another £86.00, so i have called the site on [protected] which close very early in the afternoon 5.00 pm so went out of my way took time off work to call to be greeted with we cant help you, system is down, i asked to talk to someone on how i too... and before i could finish was told we can not help you as system is down and again tried to explain my problem but again the lady said we closing soon so will have to finish the call - i asked could i talk to someone in charge ''no they are all busy'' have you a complaints number i can call '' we have only one number'' i asked again can i talk to your manager she put me on hold after a few minutes can back no they are all busy - i asked who governs your industry have you a name or web page or phone number so i can contact to complain about this customer service ''no'' i said i was not happy and very unhappy about the way i was being treated ''ok'' and again i was told we are closing soon i asked for her name which was Bianca -

my details are Customer number: [protected]
my contact details are [protected]
i don't want anything just the account closed down and promise they will not take any money out of my account, which in the past they have done and will not refund with a comment you should have cancel the account.
such a bad attitude
profiles using images of film stars as profile pictures - match did nothing.
I noticed 2 profiles which had young pictures of famous actors as their profile pics. One was using a picture of a young Burt Reynolds! With Match.com, you have to actually click on someone's profile in order to report them which I think is ridiculous as they can narrow down who reported them. Anyway, I did this as it was blatant attempts by these guys to deceive women. I also pointed out to Match that these actors were still alive and therefore they could be open to litigation for allowing unauthorised images to be used in this way. A week later ( I was running down my subscription), these profiles were still on site and the people (maybe Match themselves had set them up) were still showing as active. Match has done nothing to protect paying customers to prevent them from being deceived in this way. I hope Burt reynolds sues the backside off them!
unlawful automatic withdrawal
I signed up for the mandatory 3month membership with Match.com I requested a month after that my account be deleted and .honey refunded. They informed me I must fulfill the 3months, no refund. I continued with Match. About 1 1/2 months in, I deactivated my account. Again, was told no money. Just waited for my time to lapse.
They auto renewed even after my account was deactivated. Now I am $107. Out of pocket. They refuse to refund my money even after I contacted them a cpl days after it was taken from my bank. They conveniently are only open for calls M-F till 5. I was unable to call immediately after seeing the money was withdrawn from my account.
Anyone have any ideas whom I can contact to have my money refunded aside from a lawyer?
Kindest Regards,
Shelli
I am also a victim of Match.com. Last year I agreed to pay a month's membership just to check it out. I provided a profile, checked out the site, but immediately decided this was not for me. I deleted my account that same day. I then discovered that Match.com did not take the agreed one month's membership fee, they took $137 out my account. I tried to contact someone at Match.com, but every road lead to a dead end with no results. Here I am six months later. I recently discovered that they took ANOTHER six months' membership out of my account! I am a senior citizen and cannot afford for this scam to continue raping me monetarily. I contacted my bank, Chase, who said they could not stop the automatic withdrawals without a history of me trying to get Match.com to stop these withdrawals. I explained to them that I had tried six months ago when this originally happened, but every attempt to get this personally resolved with Match.com lead to a dead end with no results. Chase would not even cancel my debit card and issue me a new one. There must be some remedy to this on both ends. We are taxpaying citizens who should have rights to remedy from these scammers!
fraud!
I joined Match and received tons of messages from beautiful ladies who turn out to be Match employees trying to scam money out of me.
Many women lied about their age and had fake profile pictures. I decided to cancel my account, but could not do that!
Match did get warned for their unethical practices when it came to cancelling. I've wasted money on this scam and when I told them I want to cancel they took more money out of my account without my permission! Stay away from this site!
horrible!
I signed up for Match about a month ago and was absolutely disgusted with this horrible website. So I contacted their customer service and demanded my money back, because this site is a total rip off! People working there have no idea what they're doing! They completely ignored me so I contacted my credit card company. I was even asking for partial refund and still nothing! I will never suggest anyone to use Match. Worst experience and ridiculous customer service.
Match has a CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP page. Read it.
beware!
This online dating site took my money and refuse to give it back! When I contacted Match customer service they refused to provide any help. I was done with this website a long time ago and thought they cancelled my subscription as I asked them. But they never canceled it and recently they charged me for it! I'm so angry! Avoid this horrible scam website at all costs, they cannot be trusted
unauthorized billing
I have been billed $119.94 in error from match.com. I was a member there a year ago but discontinued with Match after a few months. I recently discovered an unauthorized bill for $119.00 on my bank statement, quite out of nowhere from Match. I consider this fraud, and will issue complaint to the Mass A.G office as well.
account cancellation
I'm so disappointed with Match.com. I joined the site, been there for about 20 minutes and decided to cancel. I cannot cancel my account, and their customer service is ignoring all my messages! They make it impossible to cancel anything. Every day I get notifications from them about matches, I get emails from men! I don't want to use this website, I'm not interested in all those fakes. I'm so sick of their spam. Why didn't I read the reviews first before signing up. Yes, I paid some money, but I don't ask for a refund. These clowns can keep the money, all I want is someone to cancel my account!
emails
I never paid them so I have not signed up. They sent emails anyway. I updated my preferences to stop the emails evidently to no avail. Will I have to bring legal action to stop their harassment? This started in 02/2016. I would have thought I had done what was required. I just want the emails to stop.
fake profiles
I decided to try Match.com and had no luck. I never received any emails from ladies. And when I emailed any of the matches they send me every day I never received a response! I believe that most of the profiles are fake. It is absolutely ridiculous. I have emailed customer care a many times but received no response. I checked the reviews and realized that this website is just another scam. I left my review on their Facebook page and got a reply stating that I need to contact their support via Match.com. I tried so many times, and they never answered me! Avoid this horrible website! All they need is you money!
unwanted automatic resubscription
Without any notification, match.com raided my account and took out money. Match.com did not alert me that my subscription was expiring but in a stealth like manner, just raided my bank account. While my online account showed the debit was "still pending", I cancelled my match.com account and called them up. They still would not return my money.
Immediately cancel your credit card next time something like this happens. You can also dispute the charge with your credit card company.
worst dating site online!
A week ago I joined match.com. Free accounts are quite useless, so I decided to subscribe. When you purchase a membership you actually expect something special, but you still have to pay for all extra options. The most annoying thing is their customer service. I doubt that it even exists. While their android app is somewhat user friendly, their website is designed very poorly. The majority of profiles are fake. They need to do something about that otherwise their website will not survive. Their customer service is completely ridiculous and unprofessional. I was a member for only a week and got very tired of the fake profiles that contact me on a daily bases. There are way better dating websites out there.
never again!
I joined Match thinking that it is free, but I have no idea what part of it is free. Yes, it is actually free to put your name in and that's about it. I joined the site, made a profile and then received a message stating that they need my credit card information and that I need to subscribe. Well, I subscribed and started getting emails from people. I received over 20 messages in less than an hour. Most of the messages had the names of the towns spelled wrong. Who doesn't know how to spell where they live? All the people who tented me were too perfect, they looked like real movie stars. People who are actually looking like that don't waste their time on some dating sites! It makes no difference because all they want is your money. It's best to stay away from Match, you'll never find a true love here. The only thing they're trying match is your money with their pockets. Avoid this website.
dating site false charges
I enrolled on 9/6/15 and immediately that day canceled my subscription. I was billed $98.96 on my discover card. I would like the amount refunded to my credit card account. I called the number on my billing statement and the number is no longer in service.
The site is very confusing and when I canceled I received an indication htat it was successful. I never used the site.
do not use this site!
I purchased a subscription to this website and they gave me a 7 day free trial. I tried the site, didn't like it and decided to cancel my subscription. But they refused to give my money back and ignored all my messages. When I tried to call their customer service the line was busy. I tried again later and was on hold like forever. After 30 minutes waiting on hold the call was disconnected. What is sad is that several years I was pretty satisfied with Match because back then they were a good reputable company. I decided to sign up for the second time and realized that now they are like the majority of dating websites. They really don't care about their clients anymore.
