I would NEVER recommend May Custom Home. We were promised our house would be completed in 2 months or sooner. It has been 7 months. A New more energy efficient AC was installed and has broken down 4x. We were without AC for over a month, and they still have not fixed it. We have contacted the main office.. no return calls or responses. So we emailed the CEO, again no response. In the meantime they completed an overhaul on our electrical box to be more energy efficient. After the installation, and redoing the wiring, they wired the incorrect voltage. Causing our refrigerator to stop working. In addition everytime we use the microwave the electricity goes out for a portion of the home.

They cold called me for free roof inspection
They cold called me for free roof inspection. Surprise they said I had damage they could get insurance to cover it. Though I thought that it was kind of fishy I filed a claim. Insurance adjuster came out found no storm damage and now can't get the scam artist from May Custom Homes to even answer his phone he wanted to meet adjuster onsite to convince him I need a new roof.

Due to weather they could not start as soon as we'd like them to, BUT, since they proved to know better than we, the owners, it worked out great. He truly went above and beyond to ensure the roof of our metal shed was secured and all/any problem areas had been taken care of in a proper manner.

Rude, crass and ignorant personnel soliciting their services in a NO SOLICITING neighborhood. Were told to leave the premises and neighborhood but argued with the homeowner, flipped the homeowner the bird(s) threatened to call the police and called the homeowner a racial slur. They then returned to their vehicle whereas the driver got out of the van and began to argue insult the homeowner too. What part of "This neighborhood is a posted no soliciting neighborhood- leave now!" did they not understand Very disgusted and will pursue legal action against these three as I have audio and visual.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. After 8 or 9 months and being quoted 4 months the job got completed. There was zero communication during this time except for me calling weekly checking on the status of my windows. After completion and Inspection, I sent them pictures of the things that were damaged and needed to be repaired as well as the post inspection caps that need to be installed. One month after the inspection, they called with a date for the repairs, but that date did not work with my schedule. Now, I have the owner Mike calling and bullying/threatening me if I do not submit final payment by tomorrow. I told him that when the job was completed, I would be more than happy to submit final payment. He then told me to let them in my house when nobody would be home and I'm not going to do that. Really? I don't think many people would. Today Mike called me and then harassed me again threatening to get his lawyer and put a lien on my house and then told me he didn't have time for me because he had a meeting and hung up on me. I just want the job finished when the date works for both parties not just the business. I WILL NOT BE BULLIED.

On January 22,2022 I signed a contract to have two windows replaced in my condo. A sales man was here by the name of ***. I put 1/3 of a deposit of $1,374. They did come back out for re-measurement. Send me blue prints and that is last I heard from anyone. I have called so many times,emailed, and sent letters. I am requesting my refund back. I've waited long enough. I would not do business with this company. Poor communication. And I'm very upset.

When they finished the job they were paid $19,000, and we were told we would receive our warranty in the mail. We still haven't received it after calling 6 times. Nobody returns our calls and they haven't from day one! We are thinking that the warranty won't do us any good because they don't return phone calls, thinking they wouldn't honor a warranty.

THEY HAVE STATED THAT THEY WILL REPAIR THE CEILING BUT AS OF THIS DATE, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE DAMAGE TO THE GUTTER AND THE THIRD IS THAT THE LEAF FILTERS IN SIDE THE GUTTERS WERE REMOVED BUT WERE NOT REINSTALLED.THAT THEY WOULD LOOK. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. THE WORK WAS COMPLETED ON JANUARY 28. OTHER THAN HAVING NUMEROUS INSPECTIONS, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.

May Custom Homes put on a new roof on our home last spring. They did a good job but one part of the roof where they had to replace the wood they did not cover it. My husband questioned them at the time but they said it was ok to leave it uncovered. When we went to apply for home owners insurance we had to have a 4 pt inspection done. The inspector did not like the wood uncovered and said it had to be covered as it would rot. We had NO knowledge of when the excess work was performed or why it was not noted in the original contract. They bullied there way into our house demanding payment and unwilling to give a detail explanation of work over and above contract. Never explained why we were never advised before the project was almost completed. After they refused to give explanation of excess charges they filed a lawsuit against us. Never in 77 years has ANYONE ever filed a complaint about us not paying our bill. We have a credit rating of almost 850.

I contacted May Custom Home through email to obtain an estimate to replace a door in my home. On July 25, 2022, a representative came to my home, examined the project, took photographs and wrote up an estimate. I thought the estimate was reasonable and wrote a deposit check for 10% ($400). On July 29, 2022 I received a phone call from the representative telling me that an estimation error was made and the actual price was 125% higher than originally quoted. I was very upset at this obvious ploy to prey on elderly consumers and cancelled the project. I was told that my deposit would be returned to me. Although the check was cashed on July 27, 2022, I have yet to receive my refund.

Representative indicated they had a slowdown in business and the start date would be relatively soon. There has been no communication from company or representative up to this point. I have called countless (10) or more. emailed and have reached out to representative on 3 different occasions. All, I get is to leave a voice message and someone will return my call. The company has charged my credit card on June 17, 2022 (attached). In the beginning I was inquiring just for a start date. Last fall we contracted our roof with May. May and us specified work would be done in February because of being busy. We installed Christmas lights for the Holiday season. Randomly my father called and said guys are on our roof ripping off before the first of the year. They ended up breaking our Christmas lights. That was easy to deal with. However, we were promised a wind mitigation and warranty. I called several times for wind mitigation to no avail. My son does insurance roof inspection and came to visit. He noticed there are waves in the roof. We called and really just want it fixed and wind mitigation down. But the ceo Mike called my wife a *** and hung up on her. The frustration is out of no communication. I don't want May in the picture and want the to pay for a third party company to repair

Service for roof replacement requested and contracted on 7/21/2022. Roofing project completed on 8/26/2022. Home was sold on 9/15/2022. Roofing project was financed (loan) with May Custom Homes (MCH) third party *** The title company withheld funds at closing in escrow in the amount of *** due to a lien on the property placed by the contractor with MCH. MCH Contractor stated they will remove the lien based on the payment of the project. MCH initially stated payment will be released the following week although none has been made at this time. MCH been *** latent with response to phone call communication if responded at all with myself and title company to resolve this situation. *** is not able to hold funds for much longer due to time restraints needed to file completion of work work with Polk County. It is my strong belief that MCH is violating public trust in regards not completing services promised/expected and also compensated for.

In February, a severe storm damaged our roof. We sought replacement quotes form several companies ultimately deciding on May Custom Homes, due to the product they were selling. Work commenced on our home between April 13-17. Minor issues resulted and were corrected, with the caveat that the roof is covered by a lifetime warranty, guaranteed by MCH if any issue persisted. (Roof line at the lanai is still leaking...) But that is not my complaint. When I initially signed for work on my home, I was quoted at 35 square. But my roof is only 24 square. I understand that it is industry standard to over quote, but I was unaware of the actual size difference until (months later) my insurance company explained to me why they were seeking clarification from May. They have not received answers, and aside from one call from the owner, I have gotten nowhere. I continue to call over the last 5 weeks. The closest answer I got was that the salesperson/foreman at the time caused issues for MCH.

I choose this company to put a new roof and replace siding on my home. I reached out to them based on misleading advertising found on social media claiming 60 months zero interest financing. When it came to choosing a loan that wasn't an option. The job is going on 5 months without completion. The quality of work is very poor. Plus as the homeowner you will be responsible for quality control. I have multiple issues with the quality of work done on my home. Some of the issues they resolved but many haven't been. I shouldn't have to tell the professionals how to complete a siding replacement. The siding was replaced improperly. They installed the wrong type of flashing. They damaged existing siding during the roof replacement. My exhaust fan in my kitchen now doesn't work. Lies I was told were how long the job would take, what type of shingles I had an option to choose from,when they would show up to do work and appointments to go over scope of work. My 91 year old mother signed a Proposal for roofing work on 12/8 and gave the May Custom Home representative (Jennifer) a check for $2800 toward a roof repair of $8400. The Proposal is identified as Exhibit A for a "Contract For Services" but there is no contract. The Proposal is carbon copy on yellow paper and practically illegible. The Proposal stipulates a referral fee be paid to my mother's caregiver. The Proposal was for resealing and contained a note to "please make sure " that the repair would be done to the homeowner insurance company's specifications. The insurance specifications plainly state that resealing would not suffice. No permit, no contact, no work from May Custom Home. No response from phone calls, emails or Certified Letter (2/22/2022). Included in a second, unsigned Exhibit A is "Agreement Terms, Conditions, and Disclosure" containing a defamation clause with a $250,000 penalty should a customer file a negative review without first sending a certified letter and allowing 90 days for MCH to cure the problem. The Exhibit uses tiny fine print.

I had just moved to Fla.from Maryland and Just retired and brought a Park model home.I want to get a medal roof placed on it ..So i contacted a couple of roofing places to see who could give me the best for my money..I when with MayCustom Home because of the years of service and Licence.. So on February 2022 i made a appointment for February 16,2022 So i sign a contact on February 16 2022 Proposal No.***..I had told the saleman who came out that i needed the roof on before March 30,2022 because i was going west traveling ..he said i would have the roof on by March 30, 2022. Then i signed the contract and he called his boss to see how much money i would have to deposit his boss said 1830.00 a third of the total bill..So i rode a check for that amount..Every week i call to see how things were going to get this job done..One day i called three times because i was getting ghosted..I was told by Mike one of the owners not to call no one but him so he gave me his number and promised me he would have a roofer out this week that just passed ..Every day i called him and left texts so i have witness that i have told and reminded him time is ticking and his word is not good ..I have not beable to hear from him ..He has a excuse for everything and just lies to get me off the phone..I have no other way to get my money back or job done. April 1 2022 around 5 pm was my last commucation with a phine call and he message stating he was in a meeting ..I said could you call me ..Help please!

Ceiling leaks in office and garage after they had just completed the project. The first day they were here, they removed the shingles and put down tar like underlayment. Did NOT place a tarp when they left. Close to a month later, they put the new shingles on approx 90% of the roof. From time they started to the next time here, it rained and cause leaks in my office -there weren't leaks until the roof work. The ceiling in the garage got so saturated that the fluorescent light fell down. They sent a handyman to repair the leaks but the painted the ceiling in office. After that, there were more leaks in my office ceiling that caused cracks in the ceiling. They are aware of the additional leaks in the office. The roof shingles do NOT lay flat and there are areas that the shingles leave a space where they should flush with the other shingles. I feel that they should repair the shoddy work at no cost to us. Mike (owner) told me if I didn't sign the paperwork saying it was complete, he would take legal action so I signed it under duress. They told me to put a claim with one of the 2 warranties, which we have never received the paperwork for that. I feel because it was a short time after they said it was completed that it leaked showed the shoddy workmanship. This needs to be taken care of ASAP plus I want a new pasco county inspector to take a look at their work and damage done to my house. Mike would not tell me who the inspector was when I asked him. I paid $22K to get my roof done and feel with that price, they should have it done near perfect

It's been 2 days dealing with leakage and no one comes or calls back On March X XXXX My wife and I sat down with Johnny *** from May Custom Homes we signed a proposal to put New impact windows, doors, and roof totaling 36,000 which we were going to finance through the PACE program. About a week later Johnny came to my house to sign a contract which we never received a copy of. I was told that the job would be completed in about a month. On June 1st Suncoast supply dropped off roof materials on the top of my roof. On June 9th their workers began to take off the existing roof. Tony called me and stated that my gutters were in bad condition and that my roof inspection would not pass *** I didn't change my gutters. Tony tried to get my to have May Custom Homes install new gutters. I did research and I was informed by another contractor that that was not true. The gutters have nothing to do with the roof. That Same day they put the underlayment paper on the entire roof and shingles on only almost half of my home. On June 10th the workers never showed up that same afternoon it rained and I started to feel water drops dripping from my ceiling and noticed that my furniture was wet. My ceiling was dripping in many different places. I called Tony the Quality Manager to tell him that my roof was leaking and he told me to call ***. *** told me that they were going to send the roofers out and no one ever showed up . Neither bothered to call me back I had to call them. They never even came them self to see the damages. While it was raining I went into my attic to see where the water was leaking from and noticed that they had placed the new shingles on top of rotten plywood. I also noticed that there was water leaking from the side where the new shingles had already been placed. I have photos of there non-compliance with the county code. On June 11th again the workers never showed up and it started to rain around 3pm I called *** and he responded that the workers should have been at my home today and he was going to call them. Than *** called me back and stated that the workers would be here later today. I told him it was about to start raining so they can at least cover my roof with a tarp and After that, he called back and said that the workers would not come out today . Around 6pm it started pouring My ceiling was dripping all around the house wetting my insulation, ceiling, furniture and floors. In one part of my home the ceiling is starting to cave in. I took many pictures of both days and the water damage that has occurred due to the negligence of this company. This company likes to blame one another and have you call one and that person tells you to call another and so on, completely beating around the bush. I was so concerned about the leakage and damages and were advancing. I ended up calling another roofing company called Matera to see if they could help me. Matera's workers came out that evening and placed a tarp over my roof to avoid any further damages. May Custom Home has been very negligent in avoiding damage to my home therefore I do not want them to work on my home any longer. They show no concern for the conditions they have left my home under. I hold May Custom Home in Tampa FL accountable for all damages done to my home during this construction process due to negligence. I am going to involve litigation to recover all damages and void any contract with this company.

Their sales rep for solar sells through a bait and switch routine - which was a big waste of my time. They were pushy, even when I said no. Some may say this is a good quality for a sales rep team, but all I wanted was for that man to leave.
They cold called me for free roof inspection. Surprise they said I had damage they could get insurance to cover it. Though I thought that it was kind of fishy I filed a claim. Insurance adjuster came out found no storm damage and now can't get the scam artist from May Custom Homes to even answer his phone he wanted to meet adjuster onsite to convince him I need a new roof.
