Poor response
Our brand new A/C condensing unit did not function Friday. No cold air was blowing from our new A/C. Called McCrea Heating and Air Conditioning and they told us that they would contact their field reps and have them call us back. The temp outside was 91deg. Our room was over 95deg. We waited the rest of the day Friday and all weekend and into Monday at 5:45pm. No one called us to make any appointments or arrangements to come look at this brand new A/C that they installed.
Again, we have contacted them and all we got was an third party answering service that said they would try to get someone to contact us so arrangements could be made. This is unacceptable! Another "we will have them call back..." Really? Is this how this works when you buy a brand new A/C. We haven't even had it 30 days! What gives?
Recommendation: Be cautious on their service after the sale! Especially when they say they will have someone call back!!!
We used this company in Delaware and they are terrible unprofessional
We used this company in Delaware and they are terrible unprofessional. They're scheduling is a mess, with technicians never showing up on time...instead 3-4 hours later. No one answers they're phone and no one called us to tell us that they were late. Never again.
McCrea Heating And Air Conditioning is the worst!
McCrea Heating And Air Conditioning is the worst! I had a problem with my zone damper system since July. It's almost October now and they still haven't fixed it, even though I paid them in full. I have two elderly people living with me and I don't want them to be uncomfortable during the fall and winter like they were in the summer. It's even more frustrating when you call for updates and they make you feel like you're bothering them.
McCrea Heating And Air Conditioning Complaints 4
Date of the original transaction: May
Date of the original transaction: May . Amount of Money Paid: $5,000.00. Business Commitment: New Heating and AC unit. Nature of the Dispute: AC Unit stopped working in May and McCrea Heating & AC Services of MD replaced the compressor in May . May , the compressor ain't working again and blowing out hot air, I got no air condition and this is the 2nd Compressor. The compressor is under warranty and all parts; however, I gotta pay for the labor to install by McCrae, which is nearly $1,200. I shouldn't have to pay 'cause this new AC/Heating system was just installed in 2018 and has been replaced 2 times already and now needs to be replaced a 3rd time. Clearly this is a faulty system or was installed wrong (not flushed or filters not replaced or place on). The company expects me to pay for the cost of labor and pay for the compressor to get compensated back by the manufacture after I come out of pocket. I've been inconvenienced almost every year.
I bought a Unit from McCrea for $7800.00 and they installed it on July 22
I bought a Unit from McCrea for $7800.00 and they installed it on July 22. In December, the system had ice buildup on the outside of the unit. McCrea sent out a Tech who said the Unit had a leak. The Tech said the refrigerant was low and since the unit was only 17 months old, it shouldn't need refrigerant. I had to pay a $60 service fee to McCrea. I contacted McCrea and they sent out a technician who said the system didn't have a leak but needed a new filter. I paid a service fee of $99 and bought 2 new filters. On January 5, the panel box McCrea installed had to be replaced because some of the plastic components melted and could have caused a fire. Once again, I paid $139 for the service fee to McCrea. On May 5, the unit wasn't cooling the house, so *** HVAC LLC came out and determined that the system had a leak and there was no refrigerant. McCrea is saying the system doesn't have a leak but a valve stem needs to be replaced.
I bought a new home in October
I bought a new home in October . The new McCrea A/C unit froze up and was low on refrigerant. The McCrea guy came out on August 28 to fix it. But it didn't really get fixed 'cause the A/C froze up again and was low on refrigerant. McCrea came out every year (July , July , and July ) to deal with the same problem. They even charged me $230.95 for the July service that they never fixed in August or the other years. Yesterday (May 29th) I called McCrea 'bout my A/C unit freezing up again. I had to call their messenger service 4 times (twice on May 29th and twice on May 30th) 'cause no technician called or showed up to fix the emergency. Today (May 30th) at 11:57 am, McCrea called me and said I gotta pay $175.95 to fix the emergency. I told 'em this is a recurring problem that wasn't fixed during the warranty period/August service and the other years. I also said I paid McCrea $230.95 last year for the same problem. I told the McCrea rep that I ain't payin' nothin' to fix a recurring problem, and I wanna talk to a supervisor. The McCrea rep said she'll pass on my message. The bottom line is, what McCrea is doin' ain't right. This new A/C unit shouldn't be freezing up and runnin' low on refrigerant every year! I ain't got no A/C in this hot house 'cause of McCrea. I'm really mad at how McCrea is treatin' me as a client and as a retired and disabled military veteran.

We bought two HVAC units from McCrae
We bought two HVAC units from McCrae. One in 2017 with a 2 year maintenance plan and one in 2019 with a 1 year maintenance plan. I called in April to have new unit serviced. When the serviceman came out and mind you it is during the height of Covid-19 he asked where was my basement door was and he also went outside. I called the company today because it dawned on me that he serviced the WRONG unit. My new unit is in the ATTIC! I called the office to explain the mix up and that I wanted my new unit serviced. The lady from McCrae told me that I would be charged $109 because my new unit maintenance plan expired in July two weeks ago. I felt that was unreasonable since I called in April while it was still valid. Also the unit has never had a maintenance inspection and we were promised two maintenance inspections and the one we purchased in 2017 only had 3 of the 4 maintenance inspections promised in the maintenance plan so even with their mistake I would not getting more services calls than what was promised in both contracts. In fact, as it stands now, we are two maintenance service calls short. More importantly it is very unethical to allow the customer to suffer for the company's mistake, namely, the company's lack of communication with the technician who serviced the WRONG unit. McCrae's website says that the way they define their company culture is by delivering the BEST SERVICE possible, GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND for their clients, and ALWAYS operating under a code of ETHICS. This is why I chose to hire McCrae to install two units with over $14,500 of work. I feel that the decisions made by the company have failed to live of to the "McCrae Way". This is NO way to treat a customer that you value. If I owned the company I would honor all the service inspections promised and I would apologize for the communication error with an explanation and correct the problem.
