My daughter and anther girl had their bags erroneously and innocently swapped at Scarborough Town Centre on Friday Oc, 6 at approx. 5:45 p.
The bags were on Megabus bus 42775 travelling from Kingston On. to Toronto On.
At Approx. 5:45pm The driver removed the bags from belly of the bus. Both bags were taken.
This is where my complaint comes in. My daughter realized the bag was incorrect but the bus had already departed to it's final destination of Union Station (A 45 min drive). A call to Megabus was made and a lost bag report was filed (Which also should have included the prescription medication that was stated on the report but wasn't) before the bus would have arrived at the final stop. The othe girl we found out a few days later that she filed a lost bag report as well at aprroximately the same time.
This is where the anger part comes in,
Megabus, since the have the manifest of who was on the bus was able to provide us with the other girl. My daughter was excited only to find out that the other girl realized the bag she was in possesion of was the incorrect one an alerted the driver of this and took a photo of my daughter's bag in the luggage area of the bus (see attached)
If they followed the protocol they set forth, my daughter's bag should have been found within hours. Sadly they did not. The driver neglected to take the other girls information and the clerk who recorded the report failed to include the prescription medication which would have red flagged this. Neither happened and now, 5 days later we have no bag. We have returned the othe rgirl her bag and Megbus claims they have no idea where it is even though there was 2 opportunities to have traceked it before the bus even arrived at the final destination (No stops between Scarborough and Union)
Horrible!.
We have now deduced this is a theft within Megabus and have filed a police report for over $5k to this effect as the drive knew about the bag but has supposedly no recollection.
Desired outcome: My daughter's bag and all her belongings returned, No questions asked
Well, After 2 weeks and many tears from my daughter, the bag miraculously showed up today. What a rollercoaster ride. We received an email yesterday. (Lost date plus 13 days) from their US base saying it was possibly found and that it was at a different location. The phone number provided was wrong, lol . I was still able to negotiate my way to the correct person and yup, they had the bag. I didn't ask too many questions as I was sure the individual who was tasked to do this job had nothing to do with wherever it ended up. Anyhow. I will now let my daughter use this Coach Line again as they made my kid happy
