booked for a pick up, paid, got over 10 confirmations but driver did not pick me up
Beware!
The fact that you book on line, pay in advance and get over 10 confirmation emails and texts does not mean that you will be picked up.
The long story below following my on-line booking with Minicabit on 04 Nov 2018:
- 04 Nov 2018 at 08h16 - text from minicabit - booking confirmation for pick up on Wed 7th Nov, 08:00
- 04 Nov 2018 at 10h15 - email from minicabit - booking confirmation for pick up on Wed 7th Nov, 08:00
- 05 Nov 2018 I am woken up at 00h59 with a text from minicabit - reminding me of my requested cab pickup
- 07 Nov 2018 I am woken up at 02h18 by an email from minicabit - The driver for your trip has been allocated - details for driver and minicab operator (cannon cars london limited)
- 07 Nov 2018 at 06h13 - Text - Your booking has been confirmed with canon cars but listing the pick up date and time as 06/11/2018 at 23h24
- 07 Nov 2018 at 06h14 - Text - Driver information and driver's contact details
- 07 Nov 2018 at 06h18 - Text - Your vehicle has been dispatched with driver's name (Ilias Ahmed) and car details
The above text was sent to me 3 times.
- 07 Nov 2018 at 07h40 - Call from Ilias Ahmed (driver) informing me that he will not be picking me up because there is 'too much traffic and too many diversions".
- 07 Nov 2018 at 07h42 - Text - Your driver Ilias Ahmed has arrived and waiting for you outside.
- 07 Nov 2018 at 07h44 - I call [protected] (the Cannon Cars number on the booking confirmation) - no answer
- 07 Nov 2018 at 07h49 - I call [protected] (the Cannon Cars number on the booking confirmation) - no answer
- 07 Nov 2018 at 07h54 - I call [protected] (the Cannon Cars number on the booking confirmation) - no answer
- 07 Nov 2018 at 08h48 - Text - request to rate my recent journey with cannon Cabs
- 07 Nov 2018 at 09h26 - email from minicabit - Driver En Route (this 1 hour and 26 minutes after not being picked up)
- 07 Nov 2018 at 10h33 - email from minicabit - How was your trip with Cannon Cars?
Pathetic.
Even more pathetic was Minicabit's response to my 1 Star rating which I posted on Google.
They sent me an email apologising, which is OK, but then went on to quote me their Terms and Conditions:
"The details regarding a potential claim are in our Terms and Conditions on our website at www.minicabit.com - please see Clause 8
8. WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
8.2) minicabit shall not be liable for any delays in pick-up or drop-off times or for any failure of PHO to arrive at all or for any failure of PHO to provide its services in accordance with Your requirements or expectations.
8.3) minicabit shall not in any event be liable (whether in contract or otherwise) for any indirect loss or consequential loss or loss of revenue, howsoever arising, suffered by You in connection with any failure by PHO or otherwise in connection with these Terms or otherwise and if You consider that You have any claim in respect of any failure by PHO You agree to make such claim directly against PHO."
don't trust them
I want you to investigate whose fault it was: Minicabit or the taxi company.
I booked a taxi through your service, was immediately charged, but the car never arrived even though I waited for about 30 minutes... As it was at night and I was waiting for it on the street I felt a little bit uncomfortable. I called the taxi company and they said they got no reservation hence they didn't send any car. How could this happen? I even got a notification from Minicabit saying that the car was booked, but looks like it meant nothing, right?
Apparently they do that all the time, take bookings (and full payment) up front from the passenger, then try to get the cheapest firm to do the journey and pocket the fare difference.
You are better booking direct with a company you know already, or if using one of those online comparison sites, make sure they won't mess around with your booking. Read the minicabit small-print and you'll see they can switch your booking to someone else...

All that minicabit will do is take your money up front when you pay on your card and then try and find the cheapest company to rebook you with and pocket the difference, hoping you dont notice.. Better using a trust worthy cab company direct, or use a website that doesnt chop and change your booking without your permissions!
Please try Cabhit next time
I will use Uber next time, not risking anything else. At least I will be able to know within 5 or so minutes whether they will pitch or not - plus I will not be hassled by dozens of texts and emails some waking me up in the middle of the night.
