Avangate is a software company that charged my paypal account every 6 months for the same software. Now today 03/11/015 they charged my Visa debt card for software I did not order and did not want. This company has a policy of charge you when every they want and not even notifying you of the charge. There should be someway to stop these people from doing this to people that purchase something from them in the past. The only way to stop them is by cancelling the card and now I have to wait for another card.
It seem if you don't resign with BITDEFENDER, MyAvangate runs a blind ad and by clicking said ad it automatically signs you up with BITDEFENDER rather you want to or not.As MYAVANGATE com ad said nothing this. What makes me mad is BITDEFENDER snooping this low to resign customers. BITDEFENDER ought to be ashamed as if I wanted to renewed I were have done so in there many E-mails.
I didn't even purchase something from them and I got charged. I reported it as fraud to my card company.
Was charged 49.90 and didn't even know what they were until I looked them up on their website, after the CCCompany notified us on a fraud alert call. Payment denied, CC cancelled & new card on the way.
I got charged today and I have never purchased a thing from them. I've never even heard of them and would like to know how they got my bank information. I shut down my card today, need to get a new one and dispute the charge once it clears my bank.
I was calling my Citi card credit card company when some company (I don't know who ) interrupted my call to tell me I had won a free $100 Walmart gift card. (Thinking it was somehow legit because of the bank, I allowed the call to go forward but later found out it is because of my service provider which is Safelink who I have yet to report this to.
I should have known from the get go but these people are slick & I thought the bank was somehow allowing this promotion; they don't give you a chance and by the time you get their attention, they have tried to sell you three trial products you've lost track of what they are talking about as I could hardly understand her and you just want it to be over with. All I was suppose to be charged is $4.95 but it was sounding like I was going to get three charges so I finally was able to tell her to cancel everything. It was a terrible ordeal.
After this, I called the Chase Freedom card that could have still be charged the 4.95 to tell them what happened and found out that within the same time period, I had another (declined) charge for $94.90 to this Avengate company for some computer related thing. Fortunately, they declined it and I thought it might be from the people offering the free Walmart gift card, but after calling Avengate, I realized it must be related to a free trial Maleware bites deal I had accepted but never understood what it did for my cell phone. I can't really give Avengate a fair rating as I was able to cancel the card before anything got out of hand and I'm not sure what their role in this whole deal is. It's Maleware Bites who initiated the whole adventure.
I never initiated the Malware offer and simply accepted some free 30 offer that I never dreamed they were going to charge me after the 30 days. Because I also had recently found out that someone I know stole my credit card number and used it for two Uber rides, we thought it best to cancel the card and that's the end of that story.
Next time someone calls to sell you something, just say "no thank you " and hang up. This whole ordeal took up almost three hours this afternoon and I still have to call Safelink to ask them why they are authorizing these people to interrupt your phone call when the users are likely to be a vulnerable population.
