after this terrible experience at nandos we will never go back
My girlfriend and I went to buy Nandos (In the Saxby centre in Centurion) for dinner.
Here are a list of all the problems we experienced:
1) It took just over 25 minutes for our take-away order to be filled (they were supposedly waiting for wedges when I asked about it)
2) The staff at the counters kept screaming at the kitchen staff (it is VERY unprofessional and distracting)
3) When I got home I noticed my chicken was cold
4) My girlfriend's spicy rice was not spicy at all (it was basically just yellow rice without any peppers in as the picture on display would suggest)
stay far away from nandos
On Thursday 01 October 2009 my wife, daughter and I met a friend and her son for dinner at Nando's Rivonia, we enterred the store around 6:10pm and had left at around 7:30pm. during this time my wifes bag was stolen. The strangest thing is that the section we were sitting in was only occupied by ourselves and staff for majority of the time that we were there.
On enquiring if we could look at the CCTV footage we were told the manager at the time, namely Janet, did not have access to the system and we had to wait for Gordon (the actual store manager) to come and assist us, once Gordon was available we went and looked at the system which was not even turned on, Gordon promised that there is an off site surveilance system and that he will request the recording from them. Obviously not seeing the serverity in the matter no one bothered contacting us, until a week later that I had to call them back to find that their 'off site surveilance' system was not operational either.
All this after I had a chat to the owner, Brian, on the evening of the occurence, and he promised me their full cooperation with the investigation.
bad service to say the least
We placed an order at Nando's Melville through Mr Delivery at 11:30am and have not received our orders. I then called back at 13:00pm and was told that the driver left 10 minutes but our food is still not here.
no manners, terribly rude and she still lies to me
I called Nandos Rosebank to place a telephonic order for collection at 17h00 on 180909. The lady who took my order was quite abrupt and after I asked for an item to be changed, she responded with a dramatic 'OH MY G*D'. I was stunned at this disgusting customer service and asked her, 'excuse me?'. She responded with, 'is there anything else?' I then told her that yes there was - i would be coming there immediately to have a chat with her and her manager. I asked her what her name was and she said Nomsa.
I arrived at Nandos and asked the cashier if there was a Nomsa there. She immediately started chuckling knowingly and said that Im mistaken, theres no Nomsa who works there. It was clear that she knew exactly what the situation was, but she wasnt going to be any help. I asked for the manager and told him what had happened on the phone and that I wanted to speak to Nomsa. He said there was no Nomsa working there and he turned to the three ladies behind the counter and asked them which had spoken to me. The lady told him who she was - She had lied on the phone about her name because she knew how rude she had been. She didnt apologise, or even say a word to me after that.
nandos fan greatly disappointed
We drove past Nandos Sloane square today Sat 19 Sep and decided to grab a bite to eat, we ordered Cheese and Pine Burger Meal plus Perinase Dip for Myself, and ¼ Chicken Meal plus a Standard Gib Roll for my mate. We sat down and waited for app 30min and did not receive any comp peanuts, as we have received at other Nandos we have eaten at, I asked the waitress for two glasses with ice in them, 10min later she brought the glasses, I looked at the glasses & they where disgustingly filthy, full of old fat that I could scratch off the glasses. Then the waitress brought the cutlery and once again filthy, I took the cutlery to the manager & asked him if he expected us to eat with this, he did not at anytime apologies, he just took the cutlery & gave it to the waitress & asked her to clean it, still no apology. When our food finally arrived my mate had to send back the ¼ chicken as it wastill frozen in the centre!, while all this was happening I had to run around to get to get my perinase and serviettes for the table, they took the chicken back and returned it, my mate just left it as is was still not cooked properly. Nandos Sloane square does not do the Nandos Brand any Justice...
slow service and dry chicken
Yesterday, we decided 2 treat da family having fasted the whole day. We placed our order at 18h00, well in advance. There was only 1 cashier [a young gentleman]. We received order in good time too, there were only 2 staff members attending to handing out the orders ..on opening bag, i discoverd that order was all wrong, although my slip attached to the brown bag has my order correct, someone messed up in the kitchen ! By now the q for placing orders has grown so long & trying 2 get the attention of the staff handing out the orders was near impossible. Cos the time is now dragging on and being anxious to feed my 7 yr old [who has been fasting all day ..!] as soon as its Maghrieb. Finally, i grab the attention of the female at front desk who now has decided to rather fill up rolls and greek salads, instead of helping call out orders, she then tells the male to c 2 me. After waiting another 5 mins, the male realises my order still not rite & goes 2 kitchen 2 fix it ! By da time i got back 2 my table, the rest of my order was now cold! The chicken was hard and dry ! It was such a disappointment & waste of R150.00! Cum on guys, surely u know its Ramadaan and wot its all about ?
Nandos has lost the plot - seems like they've teamed up with mcainnes - you now get treated to Mcaines chips rather than the original - how pathethic
poor food
Dear Sir/Madam,
Please could you advise of whom do I need to forward my complaints about Nando's in Dubai, UAE, Branch in the Greens. Do they come under the same management as England or is there a seperate board for the Middle East in general and Dubai in particular. My family and I have always enjoyed our meals in Nando's England, but the one in the Greens in Dubai, has the most disgusting food I have ever tasted, we ordered starters, the olives came out of a Jar, the speciality nuts, were basically dried peas, and bombay mix, with very old, expired taste few pistachios, it tasted awful, I asked the waiter to replace it with fresh ones, they sprinkled some on top of the old ones, and still tasted bad, the cheese cake I ordered for my kids was disgusting. All in all for was a poor quality food and has completely put us off Nando's.
Pls advise, thank you
Mrs Elsarha

Hilmar, there is no need to be in further touch with each other. The conversation has been initiated and closed on this thread as you requested.
Dear Mike1966
Thank you for your input. Please leave me your details or mail it to me on above mentioned details so i can get in touch with you.
Awaiting your reply.

CORRECTION: Thank you for your timely reply to my points of view. I feel there is a need to respond in kind to your comments here as they are not accurate as you claim them to be.
Firstly, in regard to the employee who was mentioned in the previous post by H.Resad, you stated: " ..we didn't see the relevance of responding as the matterwas dealt with accordingly and for the mere reason that it was an internal issue. "
While this may be correct in your view, you might have forgotten that the issue remained unresolved in the eyes of the reader. If an issue is made public in a forum on the internet, then it must have a conclusion, or thus the reader will come to their own conclusions. In this particular case, if you had not responded to my comments I had posted earlier, the readers of this site would have been left thinking there was no resolution because you chose to remain silent about such. This does not benefit Nando's in terms of clearing the name of The Greens location.
Secondly, you responded to me about the numerous complaints levelled at Nando's in The Greens in this quote: " With regards to your statement about "all" the complaints on this thread, you will see that they were all dealt with in a professional manner and as quick as possible."
This is untrue.
When Mrs Helmy(Elsarha) complained on 2008-12-10, a response was not given to her by De Wet Labuschagne, the manager at that time. It was Robin K who responded to Mrs Helmy(Elsarha) on 2009-10-12. To add insult to injury. De Wet read Robin K's post and commended her, but ignored the point in which Robin K'addressed Mrs helmy(Elsara)s concern. In effect, De Wet ignored the complaintant.
On 2009-06-13, Matthew spoke out negatively about The Greens Nandos, and 3 days later, De Wet replied with an offer to resolve, but there wasn't a reply by Matthew later on about his satisfaction. (While that is not mandatory, it would have been beneficial to showing the readers here the WOW ability The Greens Nando's supposedly has).
On 2009-09-16, Tonytone was quoted as saying "The greens is awful badly prepped food, awful customer service.." - no response was given by the manager of the time...ever.
On 2010-01-13, Boela1 wrote a negative feedback on The Greens Nandos - no reply was ever given by the manager..ever. The only one that had an immediate response was Tania v H's concern, and that was by you Hilmar.
Out of 6 complaints, one was resolved with compliments on the thread from the complaintant, another was offered a resolution but never verified, 4 were unresolved.
My point here Hilmar, is that even though I may commend you for resolving one issue on this thread, the remaining other issues can still be read by other readers of this thread, and this site. In fact, as long as people will use an internet search engine and input the words Nandos, The Greens, this thread will appear in their results. The only way to actually remedy this issue is to ensure that every single customer is impressed with The Greens Nandos. A daunting task, but with your background, it should be an easy one. I am quite pleased that you have joined the dialogue with concern to one of your locations. I believe that a new opportunity has been presented to you, thanks to this site and our members.
Unfortunately, this thread can't be closed by request. As long as the title is Nando's Dubai UAE, The Greens Branch Complaints - Poor Food, it will remain for others to add their own input. You could, however, ask the webmaster of the site about closing the thread.
While I will thank you for your invitation to visit, I have already pursued other interests outside of Dubai. I replied to the H Reshads comment because this kind of manipulative behaviour is rampant amongst management of all levels s of business in Dubai. As much as I love Dubai for all of the great potential this emirate has, this is one thing that affects the low-wage earning people - about 80% of Dubai's workforce. My figures may not be accurate, but you know exactly what I mean. Best of luck..
Thank you for a timely and necessary response to my points of view.
Firstly, you replied to me that "Responding after 74 days, yes i understand your concern and thanks for your input, but we didn't see the relevance of responding as the matterwas dealt with accordingly and for the mere reason that it was an internal issue." While that may be so, the negative feedback was still listed on this site. When a customer speaks out about something negative with a brand name attached to it, then a response is necessary to protect the reputation of said name. Claiming that an HR issue does not merit a timely response directly to the feedback leaves the readers with the impression that no resolutions were given to the problem. Hence, the problem remains in the eyes of the reader as unsettled. This is pure human logic and basic common sense in business.
Secondly, you replied 'With regards to your statement about "all" the complaints on this thread, you will see that they were all dealt with in a professional manner and as quick as possible." In almost all complaints, a response was given - for the complaint posted on 2008-12-26 by Mrs Helmy (Elsarha), a response was not given by the Manager of Nando's(The Greens) - it was given by Robin K as suggestion to Mrs Helmy (Elsarha). on 2010-01-13, Boela1 entered their disapproval of The Greens site of Nando's - no response from the management was recorded on the thread to this person. The situation changed when Tania v H voiced her views and you replied the same day. While that may be one out of all the negative feedback here on this thread against Nando's in the Greens, it certainly isn't 'all, ' is it? I have been a supporter of the Al Ghurair Nando's, whether I am here or back in my home country. However, I can't take your reply as justification that the negative feedback has done the restaurant's name any favours. Perhaps now that you are frequenting this site, you have discovered a new opportunity to better promote the changes within your establishment. I do hope so. As a final note to this posting, the thread may be requested to end. However, as long as it is entitled 'Nando's Dubai UAE, The Greens Branch Complaints - Poor Food, ' there will always be another person willing to speak out in a positive or negative light to this particular Nando's. And, as long as people use Google, it will forever come up in searches by those who wish to enjoy a Nando's experience. If you wish to have the thread closed, speak to the webmaster of this site.
Dear Mike1966
Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Hilmar Venter, I have been in Nando's for over 14 years and in Nando's Uae for the last 2 1/2 years.
Now, I have taken over Nando's Greens since the beginning of Feb'11. I also oversee our outlets in Arabian Center & Newest addition in Marina Scape Mall.
I would like to apologise hereby if both you and H.Resad have been offended by my colleagues response, however I'm sure she meant it in the best possible way. Responding after 74 days, yes i understand your concern and thanks for your input, but we didn't see the relevance of responding as the matterwas dealt with accordingly and for the mere reason that it was an internal issue.
With regards to your statement about "all" the complaints on this thread, you will see that they were all dealt with in a professional manner and as quick as possible. I have personally dealt with the last one regarding a delivery that went wrong and even if i have to say so myself, got a tap on the shoulder from the guests themselves.
We try to please our guests in every possible way and go that extra mile to ensure that they experience that "WOW" feeling when dining with us or when ordering out.
If you don't mind, I would appreciate it if we could end this thread that was started by H.Resad, as i personally feel that this is a HR matter and is absolutely not professional at all to be discussed in such a manner on a public forum.
I hereby would like to make a closing statement regarding this : The girl that is being discussed here has indeed not been "fired", she resigned and as a matter of fact, left the company exactly 8 days after this thread was started by H.Resad. I don't feel that it is necessary to go into details, but she has gone over to another company here in Dubai.
Secondly, I hereby urge you to please feel free to come into any of the above mentioned stores and meet up with me over a cup of coffee/tea. Not to discuss this issue, but purely to meet you face to face. I have been managing staff/outlets etc for the better part of my life and can assure you, that I know how to manage a restaurant. We have always been treating our staff with the utmost respect and loyalty, just as they do towards us.
Please feel free to contact me on below mentioned details at any given time.
Yours sincerely
Hilmar Venter

I find it impossible to accept Mr. Eapen's response to H. Resad's entry on this thread. It is unacceptable in any developed country to allow a concern regarding one of their employees to be left without response in such a lengthy time lapse. 74 days? This qualifies as professional? I also found that Mr. Eapen's reply did not address the issues that H. Resad raised, and did not state any course of action to assist the Nando's in preventing employee turnover. What anyone can read in the above statement by Nando's Marketing Manager is a pure 'pro-Nando's' position with no relation to the matter initially brought to his attention. The Marketing Manager's reply is, in effect, a 'non-answer' - carefully worded to avoid ensuring any real commitment to the employee or the initial complaintant. Because of Mr. Eapen's lack of transparency on the issue, the reader can also quickly realize that this employee received no support in continuing their position. Sonam Eapen's response hid the real story behind the scenes - this employee has more than likely been terminated, and possibly forced to return to their home country because the matter was brought up here in a public forum. In any regard, with Mr. Eapen has displayed a complete lack of ability to resolve a matter that should have been addressed immediately without delay. Any business owner may have a great product to sell, (as Nando's does), but without employees in their respective places of business to sell and promote those products, the responsibility would then be left to the managers to do the work. Furthermore, if a good manager wishes his respective business to succeed, then they might perhaps place some value in the happiness of their staff greeting and serving the customers. (To win the customers, you must first win the staff). If our Marketing Manager had stayed out of this resolution, and actually had the correct Manager to address it, then perhaps he wouldn't look as incapable as he looks today. As for myself, I have been to the Nando's in Al Ghurair and found it very well run. I have deliberately stayed away from the Nando's in the Greens because of the sheer volume of bad publicity mentioned here in detail on this site. I believe others who are just as savvy are doing exactly the same thing. What a tremendous loss of revenue opportunity created by inept management! I wish only the best to the poor staff member who experienced this type of thuggery. H. Resad, please keep in contact with me via this thread to let me know the outcome of your assistance to that staff member. And to Sonam Eapen, I challenge you to provide a proper solution to all who continue to review this thread, to all who visit Nando's in The Greens(and elsewhere), and for that staff member who has been violated contrary to UAE Labour Laws. It would be nice to see a Manager who can represent Nando's positively, rather than hiding behind the name that represents quality. Shame on your lacklustre attitude!
Dear Resad,
It is wonderful knowing that you are a regular customer at Nando's and a true peri-peri fan!
At Nando's, we have always cherished the values of pride, passion, integrity and family. Family being the most important of these, because we believe that it is the people behind Nando's that make it what it is.
We have a dedicated HR team who nurtures our staff and takes care of their professional & personal well being. The relationship that we share with our staff is extremely open and one with a lot of mutual respect. However, there always are instances of difference of opinions in an employee-employer relationship as is in all organizations - if you are a working professional, i am sure you are not alien to this fact.
With due respect to your empathy, Mr. Resad, we are deeply hurt that you did not clarify this matter with the concerned authorities before making such a strong opinion about the brand you love so much.
Needless to say, we look forward to greeting you again and we are sure you will enjoy your peri-peri experience as always
Yours Sincerely,
Sonam Eapen

Dear All,
here some informations i got today.
I m a regular customer of Nando`s in the Greens. I like the food and (till this day) the concept of Nando`s.
Even the home delivery service it was always good.
BUT...what i heard today made me very angry!
The staff of Nando`s in the Greens have to work daily minimum 12 hours, without to get any payment for the overtime (btw..it is against the rules of U.A.E to do so) furthermore almost all of the staff would like to leave the company asap, because of the Manager there and his behavior.
Actually there`s one case, where a Lady from the Philippines after 3 years worked as a waiter, wants to leave Nando`s to start a new job in a other company. I saw her crying and asked her what`s wrong with her.
She explained me her problem.
Her previouse contract (incl. labor card, viza and so on) with Nando`s in the Greens is expired and as per the rules of U.A.E, she can leave Nando`s and start to work somewhere else where ever she wants.
The problem is the Manager of that branch in the Greens. He is trying to force her to stay there and to renew the contract. They signed already the letter of resignation (both the Lady and the Manager), but still the Manager is forcing her and telling her lies so that she have to stay there and work. His problem is the lack of staff, thats why he wants her to stay there.
That behavior of the Manager is inacceptable!
I gave the Lady my phone number and will support her in that case.
I have some powerfull relatives here in the U.A.E. and until now (Thanks God) i never needed their help, but in that case i will call them and will aks them to help me/us.
Anyway...i wont visit any Nando`s anymore. Such a concept of modern slavery i wont support!
I will inform all of my friends and relatives about and tell them not to go there anymore!
Regards
H.Resad

Following my complain above re. Nando's in The Greens.
WOW!
We were super amazed by the quick feedback we got from the Manager at The Greens Nando's Branch in Dubai.
If only more people / managers can be as clued up as he is. Hilmar, Acting Manager of The Green Branch immediately put 1 + 1 together and called us back to get to the bottom of the issue we had.
My husband explained to him the situation and Hilmar was willing to assist and to rectify the mistakes others had made.
Service truly a Emotion to Hilmar and he is very passionate in making people feel, 1) Heard, 2) Satisfied.
Hilmar is truly an asset to the Nando's brand, and we shall ensure that he is commended for his passion for the Service Industry.
Thank you
Hilmar!
terrible service
Nandos in Phoenix Plaza is the worst ever, try ordering a home delivery for an additional R14 on top of your full pack meal after returning from a family emergency at 7.00am only to receive cold food almost and hour and a half later. Elton is the worst Manager ever, his customer skills suck and he definitely needs training because he lied and could not reach a compromise even though it was their fault. I wasted money on the food, delivery, my telephone. They wasted my time and left me starving for more that 2 hours.
service sucks!
Service suck, phone is constantly ringing, they take forever to deliver, if the food gets to you its ice cold. They should just close down. Totally disgusted.
Recently purchased this from nandos spring field park kzn and it was so small chicken I was shocked to the size very bad and it was dry thankou
Hi, there i ordered a delivereat on 21.10.2019 at 18:38:57 with nandos requesting for thigh part specifically and i received a breast which i don't even eat. Why is it so careless on rechecking on the items before its delivery out. I'm very unhappy for the louzy service provided.
I placed an order at 12:43 online from the Gezina Nandos, the time now is 15:56 and the food has not been delivered still. When I call the store no one is picking up calls, I am now not sure who to report the atrocious service to and quite frankly as a loyal Nandos customer I am disgusted by this level of service
Hi ...i took my family for a late supper at suncoast Nandos expecting to get a great meal, firstly the cashier says they don't have salad, but really for such a well established franchise. Secondly the food came to the table unappitising...very shocking service .Totally unhappy for the price of R360
This should addressed .

Good day
On the 19 sept 2019 I phoned in two order three nandos hotpot. When I got home to eat the hotpot it was half full. Usually the fill the tiny box but this time is barely covered half. I was so disappointed because the hotpot is my favourite meal from nandos.
I did an order online. I bought 2 chicken burgers 1 mild & 1 lemon & herb. The delivery came as both mild burgers. The food was cold. The wedges was not spicy a blob of spices was just put on the wedges. The manager Colin from Eagles Landing promised to call me today & he never did. The service is bad.

i think a huge slack to Nando's on quality and service.
Pathetic and will not recomend anybody for take out at Nando's.
