The coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics is terrible, as was the coverage of the Summer Olympics. We only see broken up bits of events, and have to endure more commentary than coverage of actual events.
Nothing could be more insulting than to only be able to see less than one minute of the USA vs. Canada hockey game. Shame on NBC, and the terrible choices they continue to make during these Olympics.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The coverage of the olympics. NBC chose our heroes instead of showing us their accomplishments and their dreams and letting us draw our own conclusions, they promoted their favorites. An example of this is how they hyped the coverarage of Lindsey Vaughn and Shaun white. When three Americans won, they promoted two. They barely mentioned Shani Davis and when they did, you barely got a glimpse of him. Why was this necessary? What a bunch of hypocrites. What kind of message are they sending to the world?
I AGREE ! NBC are the BIGGEST LOOOOSERS for making this STUPID decision.
Wait - wasn't it NBC that put on Heidi instead of the end of the Raiders/Jets game in 1968 ?
YES IT WAS. This will have to be "the second" worst decision at NBC sports.
What a bunch of idiots ! Why not show it later as a delayed game?
I was looking forward to it - was sure to be a great game and it was !

NBC do a disservice to the American people by supplying ignorant commentator coments and flamboyantly bashing other cultures when its easy to do so especially in figure skating. This type of coverage is a monopoly and must be deregulated! For once I feel Americas should never have had Winter Olympics on their soil simply because the politics have meddled into a tradition of what Olympics are! And thus have imposed Disney Land dictated notions of what is beautiful and accepted on ice. NBC televised comentator omments of performances by other nations reek of ignorance and utter lack of valueing other cultural input that is brought by each Olympian from their respective traditions. Down with Boomers being televised as spokesmen for American perseption especially through NBC - bring in new blood or simply let people that are passionate about the sport do actual comenting thus making it more interesting and educational for everyone. Do we realy need to reinforce our superiority through constant televised ignorance?
Hellloooo NBC little Geography lesson for you. I live in SEATTLE. 2.5 hours SOUTH of VANCOVER. So close I WENT to the Olympics the first weekend. Wonderful experience. What is not WONDERFUL is your continued decision to tape delay EVERYTHING. This is like tape delaying in New York City for a a football game in Washington DC. I have kids. They like sports. They go to school. They go to hockey at 6:30am some mornings. What makes you think I'm going to let them stay up so they can watch Olympics from 10:00pm until 12:00am? Who defines this as PRIME TIME? Keep this up and the next generation will care little to nothing about these events. Yes we have a Tivo. Yes we use it. Yes we watch everything a day late or on-line. Normally, at least one of us knows the results before we watch. Kills the suspense. BTW More events less gab. One hour of coverage can be watched in about 15 minutes at our house because I don't care what Dick Button or the Russians think. I bet your sponsers LOVE THAT I DO NOT WATCH ANY COMMERCIALS since I am forced to work around what NBC thinks is a reasonable schedule. Try selling ad spots for the next Olympics.
I happen to notice on Yahoo that genuine sports fans have raised dis-satisfaction on how poorly NBC have televised the Winter Olympics 2010.
The underlying problem is not the NBC. It is GE, who owns NBC Universal unfortunately. To summarise, the GE does not care about quality, artistry, ethics etc. They are taken so far into idiocy that they can't see anyhting other than dollars! True, business needs to make money, but that doesn't give the license to overlook the human touch.
A top director of GE told us, when GE bought our company, quote I'm sorry to say, your products are just dumb metal, end quote. Our then company had among the best sceintist engineers in the industry with hundreds of patents to their name who put in effort (intellectually and hard work) to bring good products to the industry. To hear someone from top management state "I'm sorry to say, your products are just dumb metal" is really disheartening. The reason for his comments was because our then company questioned the GE way of doing business that didn't make sense for our products and industry.
As you could see, the state of mentalality within GE, the quality is of no importance than the dollars, hence the poor coverage of Winter Olypics 2010.
NBC did a very poor job covering the Olympics! One could think that aquatics and volleyball were the only two events! Your bias was very evident and unappreciated! America I not lily white and it's time that the media start representing the USA as a whole. It would have been nice to at least see the award ceremony after the beat down Serena gave Maria! After all she is American just not white! Bigots!
And you should hookup with Irishgal oops I mean tasha.
The thing that bothers me is I haven't been able to watch any basketball and I'll not be able to watch the USA play Japan for gold because I have basic cable and they are only showing it on a digital channel. So because I don't pay $60 a month for cable I don't get to watch the final round of an Olympic sport? I know it's available to stream, but that is not the point. Tons of people do not have the Internet which means that they are not available to the, period. NBC did a terrible job covering the Olympics and does not deserve to cover it n the future.
Thomas Quintaville,
the men's Gold medal game is on NBC Sunday at 10:00 live in my city on basic over-the-air NBC. If it is not being shown on basic NBC in your city, it might be your cable provider, not NBC that is to blame.
I agree whole-heartedly. Why are we forced to watch a historical coverage on World War II in London during the evening Olympics coverage instead of watching sports competition? I am here to watch the Olympics, not a history lesson. 60 minutes of sports coverage lost on August 11. I cannot believe this. Why does NBC think its viewers are interested in this?
I was completely appalled with NBC nightly news and how they broadcast the killings of the South African protesting miners. NBC's broadcast showed the police open firing on a group of miners until they were all dead. I did not need to see that nor did my 4 year old daughter. What gives NBC the right to put such images like this in peoples heads? Why did NBC not warn the viewers of the graphic nature of the broadcast? Frankly...Why is the nightly news so depressing? Is there not anything positive happening to report on? Try to make a change instead of contributing to the normal--flooding minds with too many graphic images.
Nbc has made it almost impossible to view the race. Only one way onto site, through facebook.if you want to make money, fine. Don't make me wade through these carp social network sites.nbc sucks!
So, while bbc provides coverage on all devices for free for everyone in the uk... Nbc think they have the right to censor and control every aspect of the winter games? What a lousy, greedy, shameful company and country were are living in. Capitalism is exploitation. I will never purchase anything nbc related and will tell everyone I can how much of control and censorship they have over the "free" internet. The internet will truly be ruined here on out with these corporate goat determining what they think you should be watching.
Pigs.
Crossbones is the best pirate show by far. Cancellation of this show is just plain stupid!
We started watching coverage on CBC which has many less commercials. The opening ceremony coverage was ridiculously limited because of the overload of commercials. The commentators you pick for the various sports are so highly critical of these extremely hard working athletes. Most of the commentators appear to be has-been celebrities or former athletes who seem to have what it is like to put one's life on hold for the sake of competing. Find somebody who is relevant. get rid of all these commercials and get back to decent coverage. Where's ABC when you need them?
