A few days ago, I went online to check my account balance and found my account had been locked. I was not told why and have my entire disability check and money from sold Bitcoin is in my account but I can't access it. I called customer service and was told to mail, fax or email a copy of my DL, S.S. card and POR, which I promptly did. Twice my documents have been rejected although I sent them exactly what was asked for and my account is still locked.
I've been using Skylight since 2014 and never had this problem before. I just found out that I'm not the only one this has happened to. It seems this happens a lot.
I guess my next step is to file a police report then file a complaint with the FTC.
I suggest that no one use Netspend. It's more trouble than what it's worth.

Fraudulent accounts
I received 6 debit cards (3 different companies/2 cards each) in the mail for accounts that I had not applied for. Upon attempting to contact the 3 companies I was unable to reach the customer service department without activating at least 1 of the cards for each separate company. I spoke with a customer service representative from all 3 places and explained to each that 2 accounts were applied for by someone other than me. I made it clear that the accounts in question needed to be cancelled and fraudulent activity was suspected. A week or two after filing fraud reports with 3 companies for 6 accounts total, I received a check for 48 cents in the mail with the note, "Netspend return of funds". I am unsure which of the companies sent it, and I'm also unsure why I would receive this considering I made it clear these were not my accounts and they should have been flagged as fraud.

I been with Netspend for over ten years I had 3 accounts with them one for my mother because I am her social security payee and the other two is where I had my work checks and tax return going to well they decided to put a block on my mother card for no reason so when I tried to call and take the block off the card they said they didn't believe I am who I say I am so I'm going to have to send my ID card and social security card to them I did that and they said they still couldn't prove my identity so the closed the account for fraudulent activity and didn't nothing fraudulent even happen on the account and then put it in there system to where I can never get a card with them ever again so by them doing that it ended up closing out my other two accounts I had with them with all my tax return money in it and they told me they would send me a refund check so a few days went by and I called back to see what address they were sending my refund check to because I couldn't remember if I had updated my address and now they said they have to send the money back to the sender witch would have been the IRS so a week later they send me a bank statement showing the money I had left in my account and that they sent one check back to the state from my state taxes as a fraud check so I called the card I had and it said my money was pending so I called them and said why is my money pending if you was suppose to send it back to the sender they said because they are waiting on the IRS to review it and accept the money back so now I'm playing the waiting game I can't believe they would do this to a loyal costumers that has been with them over ten years I never felt like I had to worry about Netspend because I never had any problems over all these years but now I'm feeling like they are trying to steal my money

June 14th I made a reservation to Red Roof Inn Orlando Florida because I was on vacation for a week to go to SeaWorld the hotel made a transaction with your never identified who they was through text I called NetSpend to confirm if the merchant was Red Roof Inn and the process of making to the representative she took it upon herself to block my card and wrote on my account that it was an unauthorized transaction I get the text while I'm on the phone stating that my phone was blocked and I asked the representative why she blocked my phone and called words I thought it was an unauthorized transaction but I lock your card already and there's nothing I can do Westlife me and distress anguish add sleeping and my car with no food and no money and I've been communicating with NetSpend for the last 12 hours and the only thing they were able to tell me that they apologize for the inconvenience and there's nothing they can do I am mad dating got the rapper send it to be documented and fired because of the process of that I will file a lawsuit for this anguish and distress that was left upon me quick left me and my car with no food which I am in Orlando Florida sleeping and my car and the only thing that's been was able to provide me was they apologize for the inconvenience

Poor investigation leads to denied qualifying dispute claim
I was a passenger in car when it was pulled over by a C.H.P. Officer. My name came back with a warrant so I was arrested & was told my backpack was going with me, on my property. It had my cell phone and Western Union Netspend prepaid-card in it. I was taken to jail and served 22 days. When I got released, and did not receive my backpack I immediately canceled my cards. Netspend issued me a replacement card but did not cancel the card. I did not get a phone until a few days later. As soon as I logged into the app and saw my account had been drained not only of the money i had before going to jail but also my third 3rd stimulus had been deposited and stolen. I contacted and followed all the steps as directed by W.U. Netspend for my dispute. I filed police reports i contacted merchants. Once they received my claim I provided all the documentation as i was obtaining it I contacted them frequently because the person who stole my card was caught and is facing criminal charges and there's is still on-going investigation for additional charges. But my claim was denied, with in eight days i received a denial for provisional credit and for the claim a few days later. Netspend Dispute Resolution Department refused to help me in anyway even with documentation supporting my claim that i had been a victim. Ive exchanged emails with Ashley Davis and other agents at Netspend and asked for additional documents and provided anything they asked for. They refused to honor there contract for zero liability for fraudulent charges. I want a reversal for my denied claim of disputed transactions

Called 3 times 6/8 2 times 6/9 bought card for my daughter last week ahe attempted to validate her identity and was told ahe needed to provide documents. She doesn't need the card I bought it here in NV she is in NY the 20 or 30 dollars is useless to her now the card is my possession I am her mother the card is unable to be activated for use the customer service number could not, even after talking with alyssa, get the card activated. Its been over a week since the card was bought I want the card activated for use limited or otherwise. Or else I would like the funds released for a one time use so the card and account can be closed and my money used by me.

on May16th 2021 i attempted to send Gwendolyn Colvin 500 dollars through paypal a pop up came up with the name Gwendolyn Colvin and it said family which gave me the impression that it was my mom so i sent money well after pushing send button i noticed a email come up that did not match hers so i called paypal and let them know i did not know that person and to stop the transfer i then called card company and notified them of the situation we did a conference call the rep spoke to paypal and started investigation netspend worker before hanging up the rep did not tell me i had 10 days to send a letter to to see if i could get immediate refund while under investigation neither company has helped me to resolve this issue please help for me to give someone idk that amount of money is ridiculous please help. i also filed a cimplaint about paypal

They restricted my debit card after I've already had like more than one direct deposit! They said i had an negative balance for an old card and they could not tell me what card or when! Now i am unable to use my card and swipe or get money off! I even agreed to pay the negative balance yet and now they are saying i have to wait 25-48hrs just to use my card again.

Netspend refuses to give me provisional credit. No problems in my account and refuses to help. I did not spend the money. A gentleman did and the cameras show it. So what the heck do I do? How do I fight this. I have never had problems with netspend before but I am furious. Do I have to get a lawyer or what? I never used my card. My wallet was stolen and so was my phone. Police are aware. I'm beyond angry and need help.

I filled a dispute when my card was stolen and all of my money was stolen also (unauthorized atm withdrawals, unauthorized transactions, everything equaling approx $3000 and netspend then denied my claim and I was not credited any of my money. They said no errors were found but that is impossible the banks and all the places the person withdrew my money at has surveillance cameras, I have been a loyal customer with netspend for years and this is ridiculous I am now going to be evicted since I dont have any money for my rent. I was told to appeal my case and told that I would receive a email telling me how they reached there decision of denial but I never received an email even tho I gave it to the representative I spoke to.

On march 18 2021 I received an email from NetSpend prepaid card messages center saying that there was a problem with my account that I should contact customer support before using my card so I try to login to the online account site but my card was blocked, I had my tax refund and the stimulus refund just deposited on my account by the IRS 2 days earlier. I have been a NetSpend verified customer for 13 years and never had a problem META BANK or green dot before. Next day I called customer support and they asked me for the phone number that I used to register the account and verify my identity. So I gave the agent the number and told him that I no longer have that cell number, that my uncle was using it for his welding service business. They wouldn't even tell me any reason why my account was blocked. and that I needed to call them from that cell and they were going to call me to that same number, next day I went with my uncle and called customer support from that number and after 30 minutes on hold an agent finally talked to me . I answered and verified all my info correctly and told me to hang up and wait for a call to verify the cell number, I did not received any call from them so I called again and they told me that I needed to send some documents to verify me again so I sent my documents 3 times and they wound not accept them for one or other reason, so they closed my account for fraudulent activity they told me, so after many cards and around 13 years of being a loyal customer and paying all the high fees they come up with this ?
I had $2900 in my account which I needed after the covid-19 took my dad, financial situation went from bad to worse and I am counting on that money. So they told me that remaining funds would be sent to the address on file in the form of a check or back to the sender which I don't understand why, and that it would take 30 days to authorize the check . After a month of waiting, they sent an email and they replied stating that my funds would take 60 days, that they are being reviewed and they will inform me when they decide where to send my funds. I 'm really upset with netSpend and their terrible customer support. If you get to talk to someone it is impossible to understand what they are saying.
That money was deposited in my account by the IRS like every year and I'm in my right to have it like any tax paying California resident.
I think is time for another class of action against NetSpend and META BANK

My name is Varak Tucker. I was a victim of covid left with blood clots in my lungs. Uber ran excessive charges to my card. NetSpend put back the overdraft fees (4) but NetSpend is making me wait until the 30th to release monies. I need to use overdraft to get meds to keep me alive. I would have never bought this card had I known better! i loaded $500 onto this paypal preoaid debit card only to find out that they refuse to activate it due to some issue on my samsung account which is related to my credit I assume. They gave no other option but to mail me my money in 10 days. How can you call this a prepaid debit card if you can't even activate it without passing a background check basically? People buy prepaid cards for a reason. Keep this up and no one will buy any card from netspend or paypal prepaid or whatever yo u want to call it. I just want my money back that put on the card.
