Dear Omantel,
I have started getting messages about paying my Omantel bill, but I should not be getting any bills now.
I was in Muscat in June as a tourist, and had been told by Omantel Office in one of the malls (Avenues, I think) in December when I left Muscat permanently, that I could cancel my account when I leave. I returned to Muscat on 6th or 7th June and paid what I owed at the airport, and they told me to stop by on my way out of Muscat (on 17th June) to pay any remainder and then cancel the number.
I went to Omantel in airport on Saturday June 17th and they told me they could not cancel without my ID card, which was taken from me in December when I left Oman permanently. I have been in Oman as a tourist 3 times since. They were quite rude about it, and simply told me it was not their problem, and that unless I had an ID card they could not cancel the account. Of course, I do not have an ID card, as it had been returned in December, so I was not sure what to do!
I have paid everything I owe up to Saturday 17th June, as I wanted to cancel the phone number.
I am surprised that two different Omantel staff (mall and airport) told me it would be OK, then on Saturday the Omantel rep said it was not possible. I do not want any more charges! I have left Oman permanently now.

Please cancel my Omantel contract, and I do not expect any charges since June 17th.
