I recently had an experience with P
I recently had an experience with P.K. Wadsworth Heating & Cooling, Inc. and I must say, buyer beware! It seems like their main priority is making a profit, rather than providing quality service. It's like they've taken the tactics of used car salesmen and applied them to their HVAC services and sales.
I had some issues with my heating system and decided to give P.K. Wadsworth a try. They came over to assess the problem and immediately started pushing me to buy a new system. They didn't even bother trying to fix the issue first. It was clear that their main goal was to make a sale and increase their profit margin.
Not only that, but their customer service was lacking. The technicians were rude and dismissive, making me feel like I was just another dollar sign to them. They didn't take the time to explain things properly or answer my questions in a helpful manner.
I ended up going with another HVAC company who actually took the time to diagnose and fix the problem without pressuring me into unnecessary purchases. It was a breath of fresh air compared to my experience with P.K. Wadsworth.
Overall, I would not recommend P.K. Wadsworth Heating & Cooling, Inc. Their focus on profit over customer satisfaction is evident in their pushy sales tactics and lack of quality service. Save yourself the headache and find a company that truly values their customers.

I was told I needed a new a/c unit. I had a second opinion and was told I just needed a capacitor. The A/C has been working fine. I tried to call the Service Manager and he would not take my calls. BEWARE!

Absolutely horrible
Absolutely horrible. They tried to tell me that I needed a new furnace. I got a second opinion from another contractor who said that everything they told me was nonsense, and that my furnace was perfectly fine. You should be cautious! Always get a second opinion when considering PK Wadsworth.
The technician came over and accidentally broke a part of my furnace without informing me
The technician came over and accidentally broke a part of my furnace without informing me. He mentioned how old our system was and insisted on the service fee. I had to fix it on my own after that experience. It was very unprofessional. I'm not surprised by the negative reviews on ComplaintsBoard.com. You should take a look at their yelp reviews for a more accurate understanding.

This company's sales promotion is quite impressive, but their contract is overly verbose and lacks any guarantees or details about the proposed work. They don't even provide a specific installation date, just a mention of it being "approved by Evan Wadsworth." When I asked for a more detailed contract, they provided more of the same. On the same day, a competitor sent me a professional and detailed quote that was $3300 cheaper. Don't be deceived by their marketing; this company is not as great as they claim to be. If I had the option, I would give them a zero-star review.
I asked for a regular check-up as part of our maintenance deal
I asked for a regular check-up as part of our maintenance deal. Our HVAC thing was working fine, but the guy said the heat thing had some hot spots and the AC thing needed to be swapped out, costing a big 8K. So, I talked to someone about getting a new furnace and heat pump, and they gave me a quote at first for over 20K, but then brought it down to 13K. I wasn't too happy with how pushy they were. So, I got another company to come check it out, and guess what? They found nothing wrong with the heat thing or the compressor.
The next season is here, even though it's still a bit chilly outside
The next season is here, even though it's still a bit chilly outside. I got a call from the AC guys, who were telling me about a special deal for the upcoming cooling season. I had dealt with them last year during the cooling season, and I had a situation where I would have had to spend around $4,000 to fix my system. I decided not to go with that company. They called me again this season, trying to convince me to give them another chance. I honestly told them about my experience in 2019, and I wasn't convinced that they had my best interests at heart. Their response was not very convincing either.
I had P.K
I had P.K. Wadsworth come to my house to check my furnace. The technician was down there for about 45 minutes. After he checked the furnace, he tells me that since it's old, it would have to be replaced for over 4 grand, or the repairs would be over 4 grand. I got a second opinion and had another professional come out to check my furnace, which, by the way, this person said I should have saved my $69.00. P.K. Wadsworth is a scam, trying to get money. The new person I called checked my furnace, cleaned it, checked it, and it's running like brand new. Mind you, all I wanted was P.K. Wadsworth to do the same. Never again! Glad I got a second opinion and saved 4 grand for a furnace that didn't need to be replaced.
I've been trying to get in touch with P
I've been trying to get in touch with P.K. Wadsworth Heating & Cooling, Inc. for a while now, but no one seems to be calling me back. I left a request on Saturday, December 17th in the afternoon, and then again on Tuesday, December 20th first thing in the morning. The technicians are pretty good though, they're polite and helpful. However, it seems like they need someone to follow them around and remind them of the basics. They forget to pick up their trash, turn off the lights, and turn the electricity back on. During my last service call, the technician turned off the electricity at the breaker box and left it off, which caused me to lose my entire connection. No TV, no internet, and no landline. It was a real hassle because my internet service provider also has poor service, so when I called them on Saturday to report the problem, they told me I wouldn't have any services until Monday afternoon for a technician appointment. Thankfully, a neighbor came over and figured out that the breaker switch needed to be flipped, and my services were restored. It's been quite frustrating because I still haven't received a callback from P.K. Wadsworth, let alone an apology.
BEWARE! I had PK Wadsworth come for a $69 "early bird" furnace tune-up
BEWARE! I had PK Wadsworth come for a $69 "early bird" furnace tune-up. The technician, Dorian, called ahead, was on time, and wore a face covering and booties. He said the blower capacitor was not up to spec (11 MFD instead of the 15 MFD rating) and needed to be replaced for $230. I agreed to go ahead, but when I looked it up, I found out they were charging over 2000 PERCENT MORE. I showed Dorian the same part online, and he said he didn't set the prices, and the company needs to cover their expenses like overhead, lights, and trucks. I get that, but a TWO THOUSAND PERCENT MARKUP? I also asked for the old part to be left, but Dorian said he left it next to the furnace, and it was nowhere to be found. The technician was professional, but needless to say, I WON'T be using PKWadsworth again. They might make money in the short term, but this is not how you treat customers and run a reputable business for the long term.
My a/c compressor kept breaking down, so I called PK Wadsworth
My a/c compressor kept breaking down, so I called PK Wadsworth. They sent Eric B, a nice and smart technician. He found out I needed a new compressor in less than 5 minutes. I'm an engineer too, not for HVAC though, and I thought he rushed to a conclusion without fully checking the problem. He seemed surprised when I questioned him, but he answered my questions patiently. He said he would give me a repair quote the next day, and he did. But now he said he couldn't just replace the compressor because it was an old model. Instead, I would need a whole new a/c unit. The quote was $10,950. I contacted an independent technician who had no trouble getting the compressor. With him, it would have cost $1,800 to replace it. And when he came to install it, he quickly found the real issue, which was just a clogged drainage hose. So the real cost to fix the problem was around $100. I'm glad I didn't trust PK Wadsworth, and after this experience, I won't trust them again.
I keep having lots of problems with PK Wadsworth
I keep having lots of problems with PK Wadsworth. 1. I got a yearly service contract with them. But when I call to schedule service (like for my boiler maintenance), it takes weeks to months to get someone to come out. And last winter, they rescheduled many times. This still happens, last year they just cancelled on the day I took off work and then randomly called to reschedule. 2. PK Wadsworth installed my high velocity AC in 2011. Every time someone from their company comes for maintenance, they don't know how to access the equipment in my attic. The PK Wadsworth technician always asks "Who installed this?" and then notes how poorly it was done. 3. They also never know the access details and always need to figure out how to access the air handler (which they also set up). There doesn't seem to be any continuity or even notes. This year (2022), they sent someone who A) Didn't believe us about where the equipment was, B) Made my wife carry the stairs to the attic without offering help, and C) Didn't even try to access the AC equipment in the attic because it wouldn't fit. We had to reschedule twice, and now I'm getting notices for an appointment on the wrong day. Needless to say, we don't feel like we've had good service, and what's worse is that the same company that installed the AC then tells me it wasn't installed correctly. In summary, I keep getting bad service from this company. 1. Maintenance plan frequently reschedules appointments at the last minute, wrong appointments, etc. 2. Installations aren't the best, even according to their own team's observations of the work quality in my house. 3. There's zero communication about my installation, which they did and have been servicing for 11 years.
PK Wadsworth, I think it's a total scam
PK Wadsworth, I think it's a total scam. My central air unit was working fine in May during a mini heatwave. On 06/11/2022, I turned on the AC unit because it was warm in the house and the air felt like the fan was on, so I thought maybe we just needed some refrigerant. I grabbed my phone and googled some places, and I chose PK Wadsworth of Solon. I made an appointment for Monday 06/13/2022, and they told me it would cost $90 for the visit. They said 1pm through text, but the technician didn't show up at the scheduled time. I called, and the tech arrived a little over an hour late. He parked behind my wife and daughter who were leaving, so I asked him if he could move his car. He had a bad attitude and seemed upset. My wife noticed it too, and she was in a car two spaces away. Anyway, this tech's name was Tom. Tom came in and asked to go to the basement to check out the furnace, which was installed in 2017. Finally, he wanted to see the AC unit. While he was looking at the unit, I walked away for about 5 minutes. When I came back, he was using a hose or something to clean the unit from behind. I left again and came back later to ask about his findings. He responded with "NOT GOOD" and said that my condenser was shot, the unit wasn't grounded, and some animal had chewed through the insulation and wiring. All I could say was wow, that's not good. He told me it would cost $90 in cash or charge, and he would talk to my home warranty about it. He also said that someone would come out the next day to give me an estimate for a new system. On 06/14/2022, Dan or someone else showed up and did the same routine of checking the basement and the unit. Then he gave me a sales pitch and said it would cost $10,300.00 for a standard unit. To make a long story short, on 06/15/2022, I called another certified technician, and he said none of what the previous technician said was true. It looked like someone had pulled out the wires by hand, and nothing was chewed. The condenser was fine, and the unit was grounded. In just 2 hours, he had my unit blowing cold air at 60 degrees. We had a great night's sleep. Beware of this scam, it cost me $9,800 less to get it fixed by someone else.
