I recently purchase a 24 pack of Publix spring water 16.9 ounces and one of the bottles has this horrible smell, it smelled almost like sewer water and chemicals. The other water bottles seemed to smell and taste normal. I found out that some other person complained about the same thing, but they wouldn't test the water for her or tell her the results because the bottle was already opened. I'm going to avoid buying their water for now on.
I just bought 6 gallons of Publix spring water here at my local Casselberry Florida supermarket. I’ve opened three out of the 6 gallons I purchased and each one tastes absolutely awful! I’ve bought Publix spring water in the recent past and I’ve never experienced this taste. It’s clear to me after reading many of the comments here that Publix nor it’s manufacturer care about public health, safety, and at the very least satisfaction. I’m seriously considering never shopping at Publix again, but will lodge a formal complaint to see where it goes first.
The same has happened to me today, December 9th, 2021. I bought 2 of the gallon size Publix Drinking Water, AWFUL!
I can't believe how bad it tasted I had to spit it out immediately! The 2nd bottle was just as horrible! I rinsed and gargled with Colgate Peroxide Mouthwash, glad I had it. I agree with what someone wrote a little further down below.. "They should eliminate ALL of their water products IMMEDIATELY until the problem is COMPLETELY solved. This is a TERRIBLE time for this type of crisis". I will report this to be tested by an independent lab to complete an official report! This Publix is in Commons Plaza, Venice Ave, Venice FL 34292.
Wow I’m very shocked reading this thread on Publix water. My husband bought 3 cases of the 24 pack spring water from Publix this week, 11/5/23. My children and I drink water faithfully everyday. One day I opened a water bottle and brought it to my mouth to drink and noticed it smelled like old moldy rags. The smell was very intense! Ever since then every bottle I’ve opened after that incident I have to smell and most of the bottles in the case smelled like old moldy rags. I’m afraid to be contaminated with bacteria or fungus! Never buying Publix brand water again. I feel sick as I’m typing this.
I recently had the same problem with a gallon of Publix purified water. It smelled like ammonia and sewage and tasted like dirt. I contacted Publix customer service to file a report and requested a full analysis of the water. They had me drop the water off at my local Publix and sent it to a lab to be tested. I got contacted by a Publix claims examiner with the lab results who told me the water tested negative for E. coli and coliform and there was nothing wrong with it and it was safe to drink. I requested a full analysis of the water for all possible contaminants and was told they only test for E. coli and coliform. The water I drank was tainted and Publix is refusing to do a full analysis.
Based on all the similar complaints here there is definitely an issue with Publix water. Purified water is not suppose to smell like ammonia and sewage and taste like dirt. The FDA needs to inspect all Publix bottling plants and fully investigate this issue. I am also planning to contact the media to expose this problem.
My wife had a similar issue with the quality of the Publix Purified water back in 12/31/2021. In fact.my wife found an o seal ring in the gallon of Publix Purified water. I contacted Publix customer support and emailed them a picture of what we found. Of course nothing became of it. I saved the emails interactions with Publix support.
Our Community Lesuire Days just told us,Our water will be off,Till Tuesday. Its been off since this Morning now.We were given one case ,two gallons of Water all Public. It looks as if we should use it for the Commodes, washing hands only?It looks unsafe to drink?
I had the same problem almost all the bottle I purchased I purchased from a pack of Spring Water from Publix had a very strong odor like a chemical
I purchased the purified water pack from Publix, and they all smell and taste like plastic chemicals. They are all going the trash, and never again. Sticking to brand names.
August 16th, 2024, I purchased a case of 16.9 Spring water from Publix. I drink alot of water. I always have my other bottled water container, so I basically opened the spring water, poured it into my regular carry bottle and squish it. Over the next few days, I became very ill, never thinking it was the spring water until I looked at the bottom of a bottle I opened in the middle of the night and saw black. I went and saw black in all of the remaining bottles. I immediately called Publix, Lakeland office and told them I had drank tainted water and was going to the urgent care. They said they were sorry and someone from another department would contact me in 24-48 hours? I then called the St Pete beach location and spoke with the manager. Told her what happened, that I was going to an urgent care, and I would drop 3 bottles off so they could get to Lakeland for testing.
I drove to that Publix and met the day manager, gave her my card, two unopened bottles and one empty bottle. She said she would get those to Lakeland for testing right away.
Since then, I spoke with their corporate office and the water distributor to no avail. They never sent the bottles for testing and now tell me that the bottles were destroyed in the hurricane. I am looking for an attorney to take my case. I was sick for over two months. Got medicine at Urgent Care. Emotionally a wreck as I am not completely ok. The Pinellas County Health Dept. would n ot test the other water I had because it was from a grocery store. They sent me to the Department of Agriculture and they went to the store a month later, and confirmed their was no other spring water bottles that had black min the bottom. They did put it in writing. they also said they do not test water either. The water distributor has given me a case number. If anyone else would like to contact me regarding your experience, please do so at Livespeaker@aol.com. Maybe a Class Action suit would get their attention. That same water distributor also bottles and distributes Zephyrhills from the same springs I am told.
I am stunned by all of these reports I am seeing. They did offer me a small amount to go away and they refused to document it.
