My sister and her partner bought a leather couch and loveseat - had it delivered i believe it was the first week of July in East Lyme, CT - from your Waterford, CT store. They visited the store several times, not sure what they wanted to purchase and eventually settled on a leather two piece set with a couch and loveseat. Though they had some concerns about leather being "stiff" compared to anything they'd had in the past, your associate assured them that both pieces would "soften up" considerably in a short time. My sister and her veteran husband don't have alot and were "splurging" on a leather set hoping it would be comfortable as well as long-lasting (they are both in their mid-70s) - hoping they'd never have to replace them again. After having it a month, they are very unhappy with the set - it's not comfortable, it has NOT softened up at all and they've both complained about back pain after napping or sitting on it for any length of time. They are not complainers - though they have worked very hard all their lives for what they have and I refuse to believe that your company won't help them. My sister has said they didn't want to go back to the store again after being told the items could not be returned - feeling like they were returning with their "tails between their legs" begging for a return. I know they would have no problem with a restocking fee or whatever they might have to agree to - they would happily choose something softer (leather was probably not the thing they should have been sold to begin with because it just isn't as forgiving as cloth or the like). My husband and I have purchased from Raymour and Flanagan in the past and have always been happy with our purchases and customer service. Is there someone I can call or speak with about helping my sister get these newly-purchased items returned so they might purchase something they would find more comfortable. They are both seniors - both have back issues - and they should not have to live with stiff, uncomfortable furniture that the associate went overboard to "sell" stating that it would definitely "soften up" in short order. It's been a month - they spend a great deal of time in the comfort of their living room - and these leather pieces (couch and loveseat) are simply not what they expected. Thank you so much for your help with this.
sincerely, debi ferguson-mcturk
My sister's name is Cheryl Mertens, she lives in Niantic, CT - a lifelong resident and a very caring, very humble and charitable human being. Please find a way to help her.
Desired outcome: allow return of recently purchased items and allow my sister and her companion to find another living room set that would better suit their needs.
