I hired this ReMax company to serve as the property management company for 4 rental duplexes I own in the Cleveland area. When I first engaged their services, ReMax took my phone calls, answered my questions and provided helpful guidance on matters related to my rental properties. In the last year, ReMax has switched to an email-only form of communication and will not take any phone calls from me or other landlords it represents. Responses are sometimes slow or evasive. I have experienced replies that only answer one question while leaving the vast majority of my concerns unanswered. As a result, I have been forced to ask only one question per email in order to get an answer. This manner of doing business is horribly inefficient and time consuming. According to one recent response from the manager at this office, Mr. David Terbeek, my questions are irrelevant, and he no longer wants to discuss an outstanding issue with me. Mr. Terbeek has also suggested that I fly across the country to Cleveland and visit the property myself if I have questions about its condition. In addition, this office has been incredibly slow in turning around vacated units and making them rent-ready again, sometimes taking up to 8 weeks to simply clean, paint and make minor repairs. This happened earlier this year in which ReMax took this excessive amount of time to turn around a small, 2-bedroom, 1-bath unit at one of my properties. Their mismanagement of time resulted in a loss of 3 months rental income. This company has gone downhill in the worst way regarding any attempts at customer service.
Desired outcome: At this point in time, I wish to cancel my current agreement with ReMax effective October 31, 2023, and without any penalty to me, due to ReMax's failure to fulfill it's fiduciary and managerial duties.
