Do NOT store here if you value your time and belongings!
I've had many different experiences with different storage companies, but NEVER one as bad as Red Dot. I was storing items at their Caledonia, MI location for a few years prior to the Red Dot acquisition. 50% of the time the gate was stuck open allowing anyone to enter without a code, and the other 50% of the time the gate wouldn't open due to "internet issues". I called Red Dot to assist me with gate issues one day when I absolutely needed to get to my unit for work and they told me "we'll let the manager know to check on it next time they're out there...in 2-3 weeks". When I explained that I needed to get in there TODAY, they said "too bad, it isn't going to happen". Keep in mind my units were always paid in full on time, and none were locked out, the gate just wouldn't accept my code.
I ended up waiting around until someone exited the facility and then drove in. The next day I got a call from Red Dot saying I "violated my lease" by following someone into the property and "broke their gate" when I never even touched it. I told them "up yours" and that I would be moving out by the end of the month.
Another issue was rent rate hikes. Every 1-2 months, they'd have some reason to raise it by $10-20, plus forcing you to pay their "insurance". The unit I had been paying $105 a month for for years with the previous company was costing me $200 by the time I left. DO NOT FALL for these people's scam!
Their units are never plowed resulting in ice that'll almost kill you, and the trailer/camper parking spots are always a mud pit. Their support is based in India and you can't understand a word these people say. One of my friends had his classic Corvette damaged because the previous owner didn't have his unit entered into the books correctly resulting in Red Dot breaking in and rifling through his unit and trashing it, as they thought he wasn't allowed to be there.
This storage unit is an absolute S#&T SHOW and thank GOD Storage Rentals of America purchased it. SROA has been great to me at their Grandville location and I'm sure they will offer lots of positive experiences in Caledonia as well. They're already starting to fix all of the junk around the property that Red Dot neglected. Good riddance to Red Dot, and hopefully they go out of business before they can rip anyone else off.
Recommendation: Do whatever you can to avoud Red Dot storage. Clowns.
If I could leave zero stars, I would
If I could leave zero stars, I would. The ***, *** (***) location is horrible. The gate is always open and it has been reported multiple times yet nothing is ever done. And because of this, there have been so many break-ins. 13 in one week in early December. 15 or more this week. Cameras don't work. Gate doesn't work. You file a claim after a break-in and they deny the claim. Yet they make you take out insurance to rent a unit. And they just raised the rates! haha What a joke this place is.
This place needs to be investigated, they up your rent every 6 months my unit was originally 47 dollars, now its 87. That outrageous for a self run facility, with no lights, outlets, or temperature control. If you're looking for a storage place look elsewhere Red dot will rip you off
They took over from a local owner. Added their insurance cover to the *** automatically and without notice. Even if you have your own insurance.
I rented a unit but was not able to access it because the gate code didnt work. I cancelled the contract 12 hours later without entering the facility and I was still charged $15 for a service that I couldn't use.
They have raised our rates $125 in the last year. No improvements or enhancements. No consideration of paying your *** on time. Never rent from them unless you have to.
We stored my grandmother's belongings in a small unit while she stayed with us during covid and not in her nursing home
We stored my grandmother's belongings in a small unit while she stayed with us during covid and not in her nursing home. We went today to let the pest control guy in and to our surprise, the unit we have been paying for was marked AVAILABLE! All of her belongings are GONE! And they still had the audacity to tell us it's been empty since February! All of my grandmothers memories are gone! Her pictures, videos of my late grandfather and her son! This place is TERRIBLE! We will be getting a lawyer involved.
Why would any company not have prorated pay back sent.
I would give this company the lowest rating possible if I could. Had rented a small unit in a certain location. Had it for less than 30 days when I received a text message from them stating that our unit may have been compromised and they had replaced our lock with their combination lock. Upon arrival, it was evident that more than half of our belongings were stolen. Six other units were also targeted and those renters were notified on the same day as us. There were people living in empty units, and abandoned cars and RVs would appear, stay briefly, and then leave during the day - squatters.
I used Red Dot Storage in a certain location for a couple of years. For the most part there were no incidents until I cancelled one of my two units. I followed all of the rules for notice time, cleaning and sweeping my unit, and calling to verify. However, Red Dot did NOT check my vacated unit within the 48 or 72 hours that they promised. Instead, my unit stands unchecked by a supervisor 7 business days later. I still have one unit that is paid (auto pay) but keep getting email and text overdue notices.
On January 4, 2022, I went to my unit and was denied access because my access was suspended. They will not send me anything in writing that I do not owe money. Instead, they tell me on the phone, 'pay no attention to the overdue notices.' However, they deny me access to my paid unit. I got a 24 hour temporary gate code and was told that someone would check my unit on Friday January 7, 2022. If I need access again, I have to call their problem line and get another temporary gate code.
I have a credit score of over 800 and no late payments to anyone. I cannot get them to budge on their rules, even though they are not holding up their end of the agreement. I do not foresee needing a storage unit in the future but I will never use this company again. Beware!
If I could leave zero stars, I would. The storage facility in the downtown area is horrible. The gate is always open and it has been reported multiple times yet nothing is ever done. Rented a storage space in granite city,IL
Rented a storage space in granite city,IL. Spoke to customer service explained needed secure location to store expensive sports car. We purchased car, got to storage unit security was minimal at best, drove around inside looking everywhere for the number they gave us.. did not exist. Called customer service, she had us drive around telling her the numbers we see and I explained it did not exist! She put me on hold and comes back and apologized stating they made a mistake it did not exist and they didn't have anything available! We were stuck at 7:00 pm with no where to put the car! This company is the worst! While still waiting for my reimbursement I receive a text stating my bill needs to be paid and due! Stay away from this business, they are a rip off!
They stole my unit, too! He lock was broken off,, and all my stuff taken! Wichita, KS
Went to access our storage unit today and it wasn't accessible due to recently poured concrete. We weren't informed of this ahead of time and we need our stuff out! When my husband called customer service, the reps were extremely rude and he was hung up on twice without any resolution. This place is a joke! Go elsewhere!
In a certain year, we rented a small local storage unit in an undisclosed location. We arranged with our bank for automatic payment of the monthly rent. The company overseeing this storage unit changed hands three times over the years. We experienced no issues until Red Dot Storage assumed control in 2017. From that point on, it was a series of complications involving insurance, billing, and payment. The most recent upsetting incident was an email we received today, August 28, informing us that our rent was overdue and our account was on the verge of being sent to a collections agency. The August rent, amounting to seventeen dollars, was paid punctually on August 6. Upon contacting them regarding the overdue notice, we were informed that the rent had been raised to twenty-four dollars starting August 1. We had not been notified of this increase. Consequently, because our payment on August 6 was seven dollars short, they were preparing to send our account to collections? Unbelievable! We have decided to empty the unit right away and terminate the account.
Just spent 1 hour talking to 3 reps and 1 online rep about billing
Just spent 1 hour talking to 3 reps and 1 online rep about billing. You can not talk to anyone above a rep cause they do not have that other than a supervisor who apparently is the same capacity. They had my billing in error and wanted to charge me a late fee. The reps went through the billing with me and all agreed I was current in payment. They still wanted to charge a late fee. All payments were on time. We also payed ahead and had credits that were lost in the bookkeeping. This company has no onsite employees and they want all done on line yet if issue arises you are on your own. They made me feel like they did me a favor getting it right. All 3 online reps gave differing information on the account. This company lacks basic customer care. They do not lack in ability to take money. This is in reference to Red Dot facility, Maize Ks.

On 17April2021, I went to my climate control (10x10) unit #326 located at Red Dot Storage Facility 472 Lott Rd, Eight Mile, AL 36613 to retrieve my event planning stuff( tables, balloon arches& etc...) ; immediately noticed that my unit had a different lock not Red Dot Storage and definitely not mines ( brinks circle lock with key). Also the latch had been cut and mangled so that the entire lock could be removed without a key. Surrounding units latches had been tampered with but not sure if they were also broken into. I called the Prichard Police Department .after I called Red Dot first as I was curious about this lock and the response was so unprofessional its CRAZY! I spoke to about 4 CSR and no one could have any sympathy in regards to all my things stolen. They were like make a police report and call back then you can make an insurance claim. When I called back while waiting on the cops to show up; I requested that the manager or person on-call please meet me and the police, because there was an unauthorized lock on my unit. I was told that there is no one available and that I could scheduled a meeting. Of course i agreed as that was the only option, and I was schedule to meet the following Tuesday April 20 at 12, guess what the manager/rep was a no show so I called again and I was told that since I stated that I would no longer used the unit, that there would no reason to meet me as that person would have just repaired the unit latched and not discussed or answer any of my questions. So Wednesday, I went up there to see if the latched had been repaired and it had not. At that time I was able to take pictures of the latched damage and surrounding units damages and the sections of fencing that had been repaired. Prior to this burglary, the entire county was hit with two hurricanes ( Sally Sept 11-18 20 and Zeta Oct 24-Nov2 20). In 2021, I went to the storage multiple times; noticed that several parts of the privacy fence was down making the storage facility not secured in those areas, you could actually see the neighborhood homes that was behind the facility. I know for a fact that this Red Dot facility did not immediately rectify the damage fencing area in order to secure the facility. The damage fencing took several months to fixed. I know that as a result of this grotesque oversight and neglection contributed to my personal information such as my name and addresses being compromised and belongings being stolen as they had a due diligence to ensure that the facility was secured and it was not. I lost over estimated $11000 total as I was using to storage for my event planning stuff and an assortment of things for a home I was renovating including building supplies and home decor, not only that but majority of my things was still brand new in shipping boxes so this criminals got my personal and my post office box address and my name. All I am getting from Red Dot insurance is 2000 max from filing a theft claim. I am devastated to say the least. This is not a safe location, I have another Red Dot Storage unit located on Schillinger and I have had that unit over 5 years; it is an outside and much smaller unit never had any issues. Additionally, In a general conversation, according to the policemen who showed up ; this is something that happen quite frequently at this particular location.
Reddot in terre haute Indiana was extremely rude and was no help at all with bed bugs that came from another unit.all they're worried about is charging fee's. Called a few times and everyone talk with was the same. Not helpful and rude
cedar falls Iowa. Go somewhere else. Gate is broken, no entry to units for 3 days, customer service is not helpful at all, no refund available. Thanks
In 2017 we rented a small local storage unit in a nearby town
In 2017 we rented a small local storage unit in a nearby town. We set up with our bank to auto pay the monthly rent. The company managing this storage unit changed three times over the years. We had no problems until Red Dot Storage took over in 2017. Since then it has been one hassle after another with insurance, billing, and payment. The latest low blow is an email we received today, August 28, saying our rent was past due and the account was being turned over to collections. The August rent ($17) was paid on time on August 6. When we called about the past due notice, we were told the rent was increased to $24 effective August 1. We did not receive any kind of notice of this increase. So because the August 6 payment was $7 short, our account was being turned over to collections? What! We will clean out the unit immediately and close the account.
I have had a storage locker at their Leroy *** location in Mobile for upwards of 20 years Red Dot took over 4 years ago
I have had a storage locker at their Leroy *** location in Mobile for upwards of 20 years Red Dot took over 4 years ago. No real problems till this Pandemic. Customer service was unreachable or couldn't process my payment requests or did not update my account note they were unprofessional and rude. Long and short of it is When I was 3 months behind they told me that they were not going to foreclose any accounts during the pandemic especially mine because they were not able to process my card for auto payments and a week later everything was auctioned without even an email or a call from them! Lost all family childhood memories and much more. Still cant reach anyone at Corporate only customer service peeps from home that are clueless. If i were to see them in person I would do to them what they have done to my family. Never trust them they LIE for gain Ultimately they will answer to God for all the destruction they have done. They stole our family history times twenty years!

We have rented a storage unit from Red Dot Storage Cedar Falls, Iowa for about the past 3 years
We have rented a storage unit from Red Dot Storage Cedar Falls, Iowa for about the past 3 years. When we first rented from them there was no outside lighting or security cameras. About 2 years ago our unit got broken into. We are in a inside climate controlled unit. Awhile after that, security cameras were installed and awhile after that, lighting was installed. Just recently, mirrors were installed outside at the corners of the buildings. My guess is someone hit another vehicle because they couldn't tell anyone else was there .It seems nothing gets done until something happens. There is never anybody on site and the place is not very well maintained. It's very dirty. It does have a security gate that has always been functional as far as I know but would be easy enough to climb over. In the Winter they do not plow the lot very well. I wound up getting stuck and had to call for help. We recently moved out into a nicer, well maintained, well lit storage place that has someone on site during the day. When I called to give my notice saying that we would be out in 7 days ( I called on the 2nd, of the month, had just made my payment on the 28th of the month prior, I was told that there is no prorated refund. Really? What a rip! I wish I would have said " I'll just keep the unit until the end of the month then". They kind of remind me of slum landlords. I would not recommend renting from them.
I tried to cancel a unit in February
I tried to cancel a unit in February. I have had it for 8+ years. Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. It's clear that have outsourced it all overseas to people who were never trained how to answer any questions about the service. When I canceled the unit, I said I had furniture I needed to dispose of, and the overseas representative said I could use the on-site dumpster. I hired someone to clear out the unit at the end of February and passed along what they said about where to put the furniture. Then my employee told me when he arrived that there was no on-site dumpster. I spoke again with their customer service again who said that they haven't had on-site dumpsters for years. They made no apologies for the previous representative lying to me about how I could dispose of everything in my unit. The agent said for me to just leave what I couldn't take in the unit, don't pay my upcoming bill, and it would be auctioned eventually. It will not go to collections or affect my credit. The person I hired took as much of what was in my unit to the local dump as possible before they closed for the weekend. Everything but one couch was removed. My employee went back on Monday, March 1st to remove the couch, but of course my key code was no longer valid, and he could see that they had placed a new lock on the unit. Since then they have just piled on late fees and continued to charge me for 2 more months after I canceled. I have no way to empty it out, and I'm not paying another dime to them. I get constant collection calls and harassment all due to their employee not knowing how to answer the simplest question you could imagine for that business. I cannot stress this enough: avoid this business at all costs.

Do not use red dot for storage you will regret it, when I 1st stored my items at this facility it was not red dot and it was looked after
Do not use red dot for storage you will regret it, when I 1st stored my items at this facility it was not red dot and it was looked after extremely well and was not a 24hour access facility which that's one of the things I liked and my unit was 75.00 a month then it was sold to a different company and my unit price went up a little but not much and still the facility was ok the new owners dis not have it long before it changed owners again this time to red dot at which time the price increased went to 115.00 because they were making me pay an xtra 9 bucks for insurance and then without warning all of a sudden 6 months ago they started billing me 130.00 for my unit since I was a home owner if I was a renter then it would of been covered under my renters insurance which its just a way for red dot to get more money from you, so since red dot took over there were several break ins my unit got hit 3x's but nothing was ever takin and at those times they would put their lock on my unit and I would have to wait 3 to 4 days to be able to see if anything was takin because they had no one available to meet me to take their lock off my unit the police department finally had enough and red dot had to put better lighting and cameras up they had finally caught the people who were breaking in so now it's been close to a year and then boom red dot was broke into again and this time several items were stole from my unit and they didn't email or text me my unit had been broke into they sent me a text saying the new number for ur combination lock has been changed, well I didn't have a combination lock and if I did they would have the number so I call them and I had to ask them was my unit broke into and the response was our worker seen ur unit door was open, they have a worker that goes there Monday through Friday but this happened over the weekend and the company says my unit door was open what a response, so then I'm asking what do I do if my unit was robbed etc.. and of coarse get the make a police report, call us back and then we will tell you how to contact the insurance company, what? Anyway go up there the worker is reviewing the tape but can't give me the info so go to my unit and sure enough this time they had stolen a very good amount of items so I called the police and made a report and as I am talking with them red dot had finally told me my lock had been cut which I knew I had a really good more expensive lock on my unit because of the previous break ins and the other locks were great but this lock was even better and I see my lock laying on the ground by my unit and I picked it up and whoever broke in did not cut my lock it looks like they tried but could not cut it so I looked at the latch red dot has on the doors and noticed it was silver in color and it has always been a gold color so the thief cut red dots latch on the unit door so my lock did what it was suppose to do and it seems red dot did not inform me right away because as soon as I got the text about the combination lock and called I head straight up there and I only live a couple minutes away so it appears they waited to contact me so the worker could put a new latch on my door and the police have told red dot to send over the footage because apparently there is footage of what was going on and there were also 3 other units besides mine they hit that day and they were in there at least a few hours so definitely save urself time, money and ur belongings and stay away from red dot storage

Read full review of Red Dot StorageI have a storage unit that I have not been able to access for over 1 month and they refuse to resolve the issue
I have a storage unit that I have not been able to access for over 1 month and they refuse to resolve the issue. I first attempted to access the property and their gate was broken. They finally "fixed" it by opening it and just leaving it open so now there is zero security. When I went back to finally access my unit, the door to my unit would not open. 4 people tried to open the door and could not. Red dot was notified of the door issue. The next day they sent a supervisor out to look at the door. That supervisor confirmed that the door could not be opened and more than like the spring had failed. When asked when the door would be fixed, they refused to give a time frame and said they would work on it and let me know. 6 days later, I called to follow up and was told that they would send a site manager out to again "look at" the door. They still could not give a time frame for the door to be fixed. I asked for a credit for the days that I have not been able to access my unit since they have confirmed that the door is broken and needs repair. They refuse and said that they cannot issue a credit. They are continuing to refuse to send an actual repair person to open and fix the door so that we can remove our contents. Our next step is legal proceedings to gain entry to our property as well as reimbursement for fees.
I rented three units from Red Dot in Hot Springs since 2016. I finally moved out of my last one on May 12th. My rent was due on May 25th. I moved out 13 days early. I notified them on the website and have proof of that. The unit was completely empty, clean, ready to rent. I have photos and video proof. I arranged for Abilities Unlimited to come pick up a load of donations, including antiques and an Apple computer, which was sitting outside the unit. The staff moved the donations back inside my locker before Abilities Unlimited arrived and refuses to move me out of the system. They're continuing to charge me the monthly storage rent plus late charges each month along with a $150 fine, even though I moved out early and left nothing there.
They took donations meant for charity and then put the unwanted items back in my locker instead of allowing Abilities Unlimited to collect them. This is a common practice for people to stack donations for charities to pick up. This situation seems like a scam to keep charging me, and they won't stop. I'll be paying them every month indefinitely, despite leaving early and an empty locker. They moved stuff back into my locker to keep charging me and are refusing to move me out of their system. They're going to let it build up for a year and then put a substantial amount on my credit report and send it to collections. I may have to take legal action against this company. There are numerous online reviews of them engaging in similar practices with other customers.
Called to possibly rent a storage unit. The rep on the phone gave me incorrect dimensions to the storage unit (width/height/length) and about the physical location of the unit. I called to get refund and they refused to refund the admin fee. This is fraud. You can't lie to customers and then charge them any fee. Unethical
We rented two storage units from Red Dot in April 2022. We inspected our units and advised Red Dot one unit was leaking water. Red Dot told us to meet a supervisor at the unit several days after renting. After waiting for almost an hour, I called Red Dot to be advised the supervisor would not be there and he would be back in another week. We took time out of our day again to meet the supervisor for him to advise us he had no tools so it would have to wait another week before he came back. This is 7/1/2022 and the unit is still leaking. Red Dot confirmed yesterday, June 30th, we could meet him again. I advised we have already met someone. I also feel like their rentals are "bait and switch" with their rates. They are charging an extra Level Protection on each unit which I was never notified about. When I inquired yesterday why I was being charged, they have advised me I never sent in my Homeowner's Information. Well, I was NEVER advised to send it in. I had previously sent an online inquiry only to be ignored and to date Red Dot has never responded. Yes, we are trying to move our contents. We are completely disappointed. We are paying for something we can only use part of.
My rental period spanned from July to July 2022, with a monthly rate of $54 for a secure storage unit. The facility boasted security cameras and a gated entry requiring a code for access, in addition to individual locks for tenants. However, I encountered an issue when my unit was unexpectedly deadbolted, necessitating the landlord's intervention during his weekly visit to resolve the situation. I was assured that the company, Red Dot, was not responsible for deadbolting units.
The location for Red Dot has seen the company respond to calls at my rental site more than once. Despite recent incidents, I was not alerted to any break-ins or disturbances at the facility. Red Dot has also been inflexible in scheduling a time to assess and repair the damage to my unit, limiting my options to the landlord's availability, which is restricted to a two-hour window once a week.
The photos I've included show the extent of the damage to my unit. I initially chose Red Dot for their promise of secure facilities with surveillance. Unfortunately, my experience has proven these assurances to be unfounded.

It was reported on local THV11 that Red Dot Storage on Museum road has had several break ins and more than any storage unit in the city of ***. The customer indicated her belongings were stolen and the gated storage gate is always open. I was alarmed and realized I had a unit at Red Dot Storage and rates and insurance have increased starting December 01. The gate is open, you do not have to enter a code for a GATED storage that should be protected and NOT open to the public. We pay to have a gated community. The storage location has trash and garage doors half open meaning either it is abandoned or no one is keeping the grounds. These are our personal belongings that we own. We did not have ANY issues before Red Dot Storage purchased this storage location from the previous owner as someone was always onsite and upkept the property. We are paying for services we are not receiving such as customer service, this site should be under 24 hours surveillance, we have evidence that this gate is not locked. We have codes that should be entered, therefore you know who is entering and exiting the property. This is beginning to appear as an inside job of theft of tenants property. The owners need to respond and do something about this IMMEDIATELY. Unable to attach a video of the property but I can provide still pictures.
On April 13th they told me due to lease violations that I can no longer rent from them. Then they told me I dropped off stolen property at the facility. They won't tell me what I dropped off or when. No details whatsoever. I've never dropped off stolen propeerty.
I rented a storage unit from this business. I finally finished unloading on Friday, April 22. On April 25th I get a text with a code out of nowhere and an email saying my storage was not secured and a combo lock was placed. I had my sister to go by the site on Wednesday and she noticed my storage half way raised and it had been broken into. No one from the facility had informed me of this and if I hadnt sent my sister I would not have known. When speaking to customer service they said they had cameras only to find out from one of the workers and police that the only cameras in the facility are at the front gate and they are not pointed towards the units. I was not able to speak to a manager on site due to customer service stating the manager doesnt speak with tenants. While filing my police report the officer informed me that the facility has been getting broken into at least once a week. When asked if I could be refunded due to removing my things due to a break in I was told no. When asked if I could speak with a manager on site I was told that I couldnt. When asked why I wasnt informed of my lock being broken off and a break in I was told that they can only give out certain information. Red dot needs to be held responsible and need to be honest with tenants. This specific location is not a good place to store anything
This storage location refuse to give me back a tow truck parked at the location. I was trying to get the truck back for quite a while because I never rented from this company and my tow truck was parked there without my knowledge. I was advised by another individual that my truck was seen there so I called the company and spoke to the owner who advised me that I rented space from there. During the time the owner claims that I rented space I was on house arrest and unable to leave my home. So there is no way I could have legally rented any type of storage space at their location. The owner tried to extort me for 4 grand in order to get my truck back. After numerous attempts to retrieve my property that was being withheld from my use I was then advised that the owner obtained a title and sold my truck. I'm unable to locate the owner or get any information as to the whereabouts of the truck. After trying to contact this gentleman for several years he is *** and so is my $20,000 truck. The business practices used by this company are unethical. When I asked to see any type of documentation of proof that I rented anything from him he refused to offer any information advising me the truck was his now.
My husband and I currently rent three storage units from the Red Dot 008 facility. We initially rented one 10x25 unit but soon realized it wasn't enough space, so we rented a second unit of the same size within a few days. About a month later, we rented a third unit, this one being 20x25 in size. Our plan was to consolidate the contents of the two smaller units into the larger one to reduce the number of units we were using. We also have two additional units at a U-Haul facility, which we intended to empty into the third unit at Red Dot.
On May 31, 2022, we received communication from Red Dot via email and certified mail alleging that we were living inside the storage units. They stated they would terminate our lease and instructed us to vacate the units by June 30, 2022, or face legal action. No explanation was provided for these allegations. Despite their intent to terminate our lease, Red Dot continued to send us invoices for the following month's rent.
I contacted Red Dot on the same day to address the situation. I expressed our concern that we were being discriminated against and falsely accused of lease violations. This concern was based on the fact that the manager of the local facility was a former high school acquaintance of my husband's, with whom we had a contentious history, including an incident in 2013 that involved the police. The customer service representative informed me that a lady, who oversees several facilities, would contact me that day. However, I did not hear from her until a couple of days later.
When we finally spoke, she informed me that the local manager claimed to have seen us with sleeping bags and that we had admitted to staying in the units. She refused to review the security footage to verify the allegations and also declined to escalate the issue to her superior when my husband requested it. She stated that her decision was final and that she was supporting her staff member's claims.

On December 26, I rented a climate-controlled storage unit, T-3, which was transferred to my name and information to allow a friend to move my belongings into it. The unit measures 10 by 20 feet and costs approximately $150 per month. The dispute arises from the unit being extremely cold, completely dark due to a non-functional electric socket, and my inability to reach the business after multiple attempts. During my first phone call, which seemed to be handled by an external service provider, the representative, who appeared to be uninformed, informed me that the unit was not equipped with a light, and there was no one else available to address my concerns, leading to no resolution. This is an indoor unit that cannot be accessed directly from the outside. The light inside my unit is not working, and a hallway light is also out. Weeks later, after several more attempts to get in touch through automated phone services and live chat, only one of my five attempts resulted in an email being sent. This email explicitly mentioned their phone system's malfunction. Their response was an automated 'do not reply' email that simply instructed me to call them. When I called on January 16, 2022, the phone system failed to connect. On January 31, 2022, further attempts to call and use live chat were unsuccessful. In response, I left a one-star review online, hoping to get the management's attention. That same afternoon, I visited my unit to find the hallway light still not fixed. A clump of grass was in front of my unit's door, the door's clasp seemed tampered with, and surprisingly, the light inside the unit was now working. Upon rearranging my items, I found Reese's Peanut Butter Cup wrappers scattered on the floor and atop my belongings. Since the unit is so dark, I had purchased tiny battery-operated LED lights. I frequently rearranged my items since acquiring the unit, so I am certain the mess was not there initially. It appears someone entered my unit without my consent and left a mess behind. Regrettably, I did not take photos at the time due to my rush, but I am willing to provide photographic evidence if necessary.
I have been renting an RV parking space for 3 years. Red Dot bought the place and does not respond at all to problems. Junk laying everywhere, Gate wide open for months at a time and nothing but lip service when you complain. This is the worst of the worst in business relationships I have ever had
I called to reserve a storage unit on 1/30. At first I ordered a 10x10 unit and was told the second month is 40% off and I will get $10 off on top of that if I sign up for auto withdrawals. I agreed to sign up and the representivie told me that once I made my first payment with my credit card, she will sign me up. I was charged $89 in all, including $20 administrative fee, level 1 protection plan $9 and monthly charge for the unit $60. About 15 minutes later on the same day, I called back to see the price difference if I want a larger unit before moving anything over the phone. Another representative told me that for 10x15 is only a couple of dollars more and I could get the second month for $1 with that unit. She advised me to just pay for the difference of $0.89 and switch over for that larger unit and get the promotion. So I did. On 2/28, I was charged for March rent for $73, which included $9 level 1 protection plan and $64 for the unit without any discount they have told me. The money was automatically withdrawn from the credit card on file. I called them and was told they would not give me the $1 discount but only 40% discount because I switched the account over from 10x10. They told me the autopay was not set up correctly. But I was not able to see since the representative was the one that set it up. The total discount should be $35.6. Then they refused to return the amount to my credit card. Instead, they only agreed to give me the credit for *** rent. I told them I will discuss this issue with the credit card company. On March 30th, they charged the credit card for $63, including $9 level protection plan and $54 for the unit. I called them and told them I will cancel the service and move out by the end of 3/30. They agreed to refund the charge of $63, but refused to refund the discounted amount they failed to return to me to begin with.
This is in regards to account *** at Red Dot location 037 on unit number 212. I have called and canceled my storage unit prior to 3/24/22. My payment information was removed from the account as I was setup on autopay. I have continued to get emails and text messages that my account is past due. I have made several calls to the company to advise them all my belongings and lock have been removed. They advised one time that an item was left in the unit which I advised them it was not mine. I was advised to disregard the emails and text messages. Now I have received emails saying that the account will be sent to collections. Please close this account with a zero balance.
I rented three units from Red Dot in Hot Springs since 2016
I rented three units from Red Dot in Hot Springs since 2016. I finally moved out of my last one May 12th. My *** was due May 25th. I moved out 13 days early. I notified them on the website and have proof of that. The unit was completely empty, clean, ready to rent. I have photos and video proof. I arranged for abilities unlimited to come pick up a load of donations of antiques and apple computer which was sitting outside of the the unit. The staff moved the donations back inside of my locker before abilities showed up and refuses to move me out of the system. Theyre continuing to charge me the monthly storage rent plus late charges each month along with a 150$ fine. When I moved out early! Left nothing there. They stole donations for a charity that was being picked up and then put what they didnt want back in my locker instead of letting abilities come get it. Which its a normal process of people stacking donations for places to come get. This is a scam to keep charging me and they wont stop! Ill be paying them every month forever. When I left early and an empty locker. And they moved stuff back into my locker to keep charging me and refusing to move me out of their System. Theyre going to let it build up for a year and then put a few grand on my credit report and collections. I may have to *** this company. Theres TONS of online reviews of them doing the same stuff to customers.

Red Dot has some pretty shady practices. If you rent more than one unit, and one unit is delinquent, you are denied access to any unit you have rented through them at the same property, even if the others are paid up to date. Additionally, you are allowed to request a tenant change; however, all they do is change the tenant's name and email address on the account. All of the other information remains visible/accessible to the new tenant, including payment methods. This means the new tenant is able to use the payment methods you have on file with Red Dot, as they do not tell you when you're requesting a tenant change that you will either have to remove them yourself or have a customer service rep remove them.
I have been renting for about a year. A month ago I got a notice that my lock had been changed because someone broke into my storage. When I got there they had their own lock on my storage and I couldnt get in to see what all was taken. There was no one that could let me in to the storage. I made a police report, but I cant file an insurance claim until I can see what was taken. they gave me two different codes for the keypad but neither one worked.
We rent a storage unit from Red Dot, and our lease guarantees us 24/7 access to our unit. Exactly six days ago, following a heavy snowfall that deposited over 11 inches of snow overnight, we found ourselves unable to reach our unit due to the lack of snow removal on the property. Despite a week having passed since the storm, the snow remains uncleared, effectively denying us access to our belongings.
I reached out to customer service to express my concerns and to request a credit for the days we've been unable to use the unit. The representative declined my request, offering only to recommend that snow removal be expedited. However, they were unable to provide a timeline due to their reliance on a third-party contractor. I pointed out that while I could understand a brief delay due to the severity of the storm, a full week without action was unacceptable, especially when neighboring businesses had managed to clear their premises promptly.
The lack of professional customer service was disappointing; there was no apology or empathy shown for our situation. The representative's attitude suggested that we were still expected to pay despite the breach of our 24/7 access clause. It's unreasonable for the plowing to take this long, and I believe that all affected renters should be compensated for the week of access they have lost.
We rent a storage unit from Red Dot with a lease for 24/7 access, but snow has blocked entry.
We rent a storage unit from Red Dot with a lease for 24/7 access. A week ago tomorrow, over 11 inches of snow fell overnight. Six days post-storm, the property remains unplowed, blocking access. Unable to reach our unit for a week, I requested a credit for the inaccessible days. The representative refused, citing third-party plowing contracts without a clear resolution time. I argued that a week's delay, despite heavy snowfall, is unreasonable, especially when nearby businesses are cleared. It's unfair to enforce payment when access is part of our lease and has been denied for seven days. The customer service showed no apology or empathy, maintaining a pay regardless stance. A week's wait for plowing is excessive; renters deserve credit for the lost access week.
Red Dot storage sent me a text message saying I owed a late fee
Red Dot storage sent me a text message saying I owed a late fee. Then a customer service rep called and told me a late fee was due. I replied I was aware and would send it with February payment. They processed bot checks on January 29. I still continued to receive late notices. I finally called them and spoke to every rude rep. He said it's not a late fee but that they needed a copy of my Homeowner's insurance. I asked why I was notified. He said they sent me a. Email. I advised I never agreed to notification by email and I do not read emails. I received a virus a while back and only access email when I know I am expecting something. I asked why they didn't text message me as they have always contacted me or by postal as they did when they previously requested my proof of insurance. He said we don't do that. I sent a copy via text with the late notice message and received a reply saying they would forward to their customer service department. Continued getting late notices. Called again and told the girl who answered that I sent the info attached to their text. She said no one reads that mail box. I asked why I got a reply saying the info would be forwarded. She said no one reads those texts and they only communicate by email I sent a 2nd copy of the insurance attached to my March payment. Now I have received a notice (by postal mail) stating they are going to sell the contents of my unit. They have also added their lock to my unit My original contract was with a different company who provided onsite management and local payment. Was never aware I am required to read email. Postal service should still be a valid method of communication.

Gate was broken in January, no access
Gate was broken in January, no access. Customer service line was disconnected. Had to find new customer service line. Call went to 3rd party company in Jamaica. Result was wait for hours for service guy. Refused to connect to corporate. Approximately 2 hours later corporate called back and said we can get you access through a different gate. I told them it was ridiculous to wait hours for a call to go to the company. They told me to pound salt. A few weeks later they fired me because I told them what I thought about their company. They demanded that my property be removed by 3/15. They posted all of my personal information on the outside of my locker. Without informing me, they deactivated my gate code and they put a lock on my locker. When I went to remove my property, a 2 hour phone call, again to Jamaica, resulted in you need to set an appointment with the local manager in about a week to get your stuff. Again I asked for someone from the actual company to call me and again I was hung up on. I called the local police department to file a complaint and miraculously I missed a call from *** at corporate that went to voicemail. While he gave me a gate code good for 72 hours, he did not address the lock. Note *** said to call the 800# to get a hold of him and did not leave a return number. Again I called the 800# and again it went to Jamaica. Again they refused to transfer me to *** as he had asked. They said an email (not to me) stated that I had everything I needed. When I told them a gate code does not address the lock, again was told to pound salt as they were not allowed to have customers talk to the actual company I am doing business with. They have threatened to sell my property if not out by [protected], and yet I have no access to my property without causing serious damage to their property. Your rating of 1.07 out of 5 stars is way too high

Around 12/26 climate controlled storage unit T-3 was rented for me, and transferred to my name & info so that a friend could initially move my things to my unit. 10 by 20 unit, cost $150/month approximately. Nature of Dispute: Freezing cold in unit, pitch black, electric socket not working, unable to contact business upon multiple tries. First phone call: (outsourced to ***?), I was told by someone who seemed clueless, that unit was not supposed to have a light. No one else was available to speak to me. No resolution. This is an indoor unit that you cannot directly access from the outside. The light in my unit not working and a hall light is burnt out. Multiple attempts to contact a few weeks later. Automated phone service never connects. Attempts using their live chat. One of my 5 attempts actually made it to their email. This listed directly that their phone system does not work. They replied with a do not reply email that simply stated, call us. I called, again phone system never connected. That was on 1/16/22. Yesterday, 1/31/22, attempted calls again, and live chat. Neither connected. I left a 1 star *** review, hoping for a response from management. I also went to my unit that afternoon. Hall light still burnt out. Grass clump directly in front of the door of my unit, clasp on door appeared tampered with, and NOW the light inside unit was working! I moved my items around to discover Reeses Peanut Butter cup wrappers all over the floor of my unit, and on top of my stacked items as well. I have tiny battery controlled LED lights in my unit that I purchased since it is so dark in my unit, and I have moved my items around quite a bit since getting the unit, so I know that mess was not in my unit initially. They went into my unit, without my knowledge, no text phone call or email, and left a mess! I did not think to take pictures at the time I was there since I was in a rush to do many things yesterday. I will gladly take pictures if needed.
In May I moved to a larger unit in the same facility
In May I moved to a larger unit in the same facility. The unit I moved into had 2 access doors, one of which had a red dot lock on. I assumed the door didn't work, no big deal. Since then I've been contacted 3 times and told my unit is without a lock and to come secure it. I drop what I'm doing and head over only to find my lock on my unit and the red lock on the other door. This past time the same thing happened however I was charged $12 for the lock on my ***. I wasnt paying for this lock. I called and explained the situation and I was told that wasn't the case and they provided the lock and the keys had been sent to my address. I explained that I had just left the facility and used my keys to enter my unit. I was told they would make note to the property manager. At this point I'm being charged late fees because I refuse to pay for this lock. I start a chat with an agent and I'm told I'm being charged for the red lock on the second door until I provide my own. So I'm being charged for a lock I can't access? Actually it's for the lock they replaced of mine on the other door even though that's my lock. What about the keys mailed to me, you ask? Oh there are shipping delays and backorders for their locks and as soon as soon as they come in they will send me keys to the lock they will provide. So, now I'm being charged for a lock that doesn't exist. I was told if I go put a lock on the second door they will remove the lock fee for having been using their lock. I can't access the facility because my account is past due because of this lock that's been on my door since day 1. I was then told this could have all been avoided had I just paid for the lock and asked for a refund. I also had people living in the unit next to mine. The property manager is a guy on a bicycle that hides around the corners and watches you. The facility is open 11 hours or less a day but still says 24hrs on the sign and website. There isn't a single trash can in site but trash everywhere
My husband and I rent storage units at Red Dot 008, facing wrongful lease termination.
My husband and I rent three storage units at Red Dot 008. Initially, we rented a 10x25 unit but needed more space, so we quickly added another of the same size. A month later, we acquired a third, larger unit. Our plan was to consolidate our belongings into this unit, including items from two other units at a U-Haul facility. However, on 5/31/22, Red Dot accused us of living in the units and demanded we vacate by 6/30/22, threatening legal action. They provided no rationale for these claims but still requested next month's rent. I contacted Red Dot, suspecting discrimination and false accusations from the local manager, a former high school peer of my husband with whom we had a past dispute involving the police. Despite this, a representative promised a follow-up call from a supervisor, which was delayed. When the supervisor did call, she supported the manager's claims without checking security footage or escalating the matter, dismissing our concerns outright.

First off if I had known that American citizens couldn't keep some of their most prized possessions in a storage unit without being stolen or vandalized what's the point of being in business we as customers could just leave our possessions any old place if they are still going to be vandalized in a place that is supposed to keep our items safe. I've only rented two storage units in my 37 years of life one was off hwy 1 and this is the second unit which is Red Dot storage anyway I stumbled across this website Complaintsboard.com while searching for ways to get justice for my stolen and vandalized merchandise which was a 5600 dollar atv/ 4-wheeler and decided to file a complaint. I brought the atv for my 15 yr old for his birthday and I live in an apartment complex so it's no where to store something of that magnitude and nature. In Louisiana we have had hurricane Laura, Delta and a snowstorm including Texas which was worse in that situation and COVID-19 which effected everyone which in turn with everything going on I didn't check on the unit because of all the natural disasters and such going on and road blocks etc long story short as I can make it finally got a chance to get to unit to ride it and a smack brand new 4 wheeler striped apart looking as if it belonged in side of the road at this point just a shell my heart dropped to my feet and my poor son devastated Red Dot is guilty of false advertising as its best saying that it offers state of the art 24 hour security and you can speak to a live person whenever you need to 24 hours which is also a lie then when I called them and told them that my unit was broken into they acted as if they didn't care steady asking me for the same information over and over I donor recommend this company to my worst enemy and they need a class action filed against them for sure I will be spreading the word on experience across every social platform known to man and I will not stop until my sons brand new atv is replaced the perpetrator brought to justice along with reddot scam! My father passed away and I went to the storage facility in Gurnee, IL on July 26 to clear out his two units (unit 081 and unit 276). I had to call Customer Service to gain access because his entry code did not work. During the conversation I mentioned that i was there to clear out the units, indicating that the storage service was no longer needed. Turned out the credit card that was set for auto-pay had expired. I found the new card and updated the information, paid the monthly rental fees, including late fees for both units. I emailed Customer Service (***) at Red Dot to ask if late fees could be reversed, due to the circumstances (I had no idea when my father's credit card would expire), but have yet to receive a response on that. I did however, receive an email confirming payment of all fees, and was assured the code would work when I returned to the storage facility. It did not. I returned to the facility on July 31 and had to call Customer Service again to gain access. The code did not work, but I was provided with a temporary code that did work. We cleared out both units on July 31 and August 1 and I sent an email on August 3 to Customer Service, with photos of the clean units, advising that we were done with the storage units and to cancel as of August 1. Red Dot website says they only need 5 days notice. With the call on July 26 being initial contact, and the email on August 3 confirming we were done, we provided 6-8 days. I asked to receive confirmation of the cancellation, but have not yet received any confirmation. This week, I received 2 emails...one for each unit that contained invoices reflecting storage fees and late fees for the month of August. I locked the credit card, since all auto-payments had (I thought) been cancelled) and it would take up to 90 days to cancel the card. replied to Customer Service again the day I received the emails, which was August 17, stating that I had asked for the units to be cancelled as of August 1, and would not be paying August fees. I have yet to receive a response. There is no information for contacting anyone in the company other than Customer Service. I do not know what else I can do since I am not receiving a response from Customer Service. Handling a loved one's estate is difficult enough and this type of service just adds to the stress .
I have two issues with Red Dot Storage
I have two issues with Red Dot Storage. Failure to provide a United States contact representative and payment and ability to move during COVID 19. I received the invoice on 03/23 for a payment on 04/07, I contacted the storage facility on 04/09 to ask about extended time frames to pay due to COVID 19. I explained that I am having a hard time finding someone to help move the remaining items that need a truck out of my storage unit due to the ban on movement placed by city and the availability of people to help. I was advised that late fees and auctions have been suspended during this time. At that time I felt like I was speaking with a foreign office but did not ask if it was a foreign office. A reminder notice was received on 4/11 telling me I had not made my payment. On 04/17 I received a late notice saying late fees have been assessed. On 04/20 (today), I received the following notice: "Due to nonpayment, late fees have been applied to your account. Your balance has not been resolved and has moved to our collections team. Please be advised your unit(s) will be assigned to the next auction date for the facility. To avoid auction please visit www.reddotstorage.com or call [protected] to make a full payment on the account." I called the number indicated...what would seem like a United States number. The person who answered had English that was shaky at first. I asked if I was speaking to a U.S. representative and was told no. I asked to speak with a U.S. contact specifically to be forwarded to the U.S. I was advised no. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was placed on hold and then the same person came back on the line and still refused to transfer me to a U.S. Red Dot representative. I stated that as an American, I had the right to be transferred to an American representative. I was told no. I have had the storage unit for over a year. COVID 19 has caused issue moving out. I have a problem and would like to speak with a company representative that actually works in the U.S. and can address my concerns. All calls lead back to a foreign office where I would have to give my credit/debit card information to. It is unacceptable. To add insult and frustration to the situation...Red Dot's greeting states (paraphrasing) due to COVID 19, they have reduced their hours and are working with a limited staff and apologize for the inconvenience as their system transfers you to a foreign phone number.

I've been renting at Red Dot Storage since 2016, always paying rent on time, even when it was Omni Storage. In late 2019, my unit was burglarized. The thieves removed my lock, stole over $1,000 worth of items, and left the lock in place. The facility's passcode-protected sliding doors were broken, allowing easy access. I filed a police report and discovered there were no cameras inside, only in the parking lot. The police noted the wiring box for the door was tampered with. I contacted Red Dot's customer service and their insurance, but didn't pursue a claim due to the excessive documentation required. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the security gate was left open, and by April, the sliding doors could be opened without a passcode. I found my unit with dead bugs, damaged boxes, and a possible rat's nest. I decided to vacate the unit but was robbed again in June before I could move out. The lock was intact, just like the first time. I reported the incident and tried to contact Red Dot's legal team, but the customer service was unhelpful, refusing to provide clear answers or supervisor contact, and eventually hung up on me. I made two calls, spoke with different representatives, and learned from a detective that another local Red Dot Storage also had security issues.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I’ve been with you all since may of 2021 and I was paying 83 dollars a month within a year I was paying 93 then 6 months later 110 they just keep raising the price to where I couldn’t pay it so I lost my storage they shouldn’t be able to do that
The roof has been caved in for I don't know how long and my $3,000 bed is RUINED from rain leaks! I also have an Amp and a very expensive piano keyboard that was ruined as well!
This is my dad's storage unit and I was storing my stuff in there. You keep raising your prices and doing NO maintenance on your units!
I expect a reply back.
