I bought a rheem tankless water heater 8 months ago. It is now not working properly, I called the support number and was told they need the model as well as serial number. I am a 74 year old ma n and the water heater is undfer the house where there is a 3 ft crawl space. The heater is on the other side of the house from the entry point. I knew I wasn't able to do it so I had to hire a handyman to come out go under and record the serial number. That cost me $125.00 just to have him go look ang give me the number/ again I called rheem and was told oh we need 4-5 pictures of the unit, why didn't they tell me that when I had to pay someone to just get the serial number. Their support person should have told me that I will never buy and will tell everyone I know to avoid rheem products, as their support and warranty are non existent. To add insult to injury they said to doesn't matter anyway we do not have any authorized service people in your area.
Desired outcome: Repair or replace with new unit since they do not have any service perople in this area
Confidential Information Hidden: This section contains confidential information visible to verified Rheem representatives only. If you are affiliated with Rheem, please claim your business to access these details.
Here's what you need to do: Call Rheem again and don't take no for an answer. Demand to speak to a supervisor or manager who has the authority to resolve your issue. Make it clear that their support has been unacceptable and that you expect them to cover the cost you incurred to get the serial number.
Explain that as a 74-year-old, it's unreasonable to expect you to crawl under the house for this information. Insist they send someone to take the necessary photos and fix the unit. If they don't have authorized service people in your area, they need to find a solution, even if it means sending someone from another area.
If they still refuse to help, escalate your complaint publicly. Use social media, write reviews, and share your experience to put pressure on them. Make it clear that you won't stop until they address your problem. Don't let them off the hook until they make things right.
