Rite Aid dishonest customer service

I was at Rite Aid. I was awaiting for various medications for my two year old who has been pretty ill the last few days. He was playing with my iPhone the only thing that calmed him down in his cranky state. Being a 2 year old he placed the phone down. As soon as I noticed I frantically looked on the floor when a Rite Aid sales associate approached me and said are you looking for a phone? I said Oh Yes! She said they turned it in at the front cashier. I hustled to the front where I received multiple no's. No one received a lost phone. At that point I approached the associate who directed me to the front in the first place where she said, you know what the individual who found it is here filling a prescription and you can ask her directly. I approached her and she said why yes, I handed it in to the woman at the first cashier. I approached the cashier again with the woman who turned it in and she denied it once more.

At this time I asked for the manager and he said there is no phone here. He beckoned for a second manager. I believe one was a manager and one was a supervisor. We both asked (myself and the person who found the phone) if he could review the tapes. He responded well you can't see them. I said I understood and that I just wanted him to see what occurred. At that moment he approached the other leadership person and they called the police. When the police arrived we explained the situation to them. The manager at that point was asked if he could review the tape. He repeated again, well they cant see the tape. The officer stated we know that, but you can review it, its your tape. At that point and he asked if her could speak to her in private. They stepped to the isle in view of us and moments later joined the group again and the officer said "he said the tape seems to be inconclusive". I asked what that meant and she just repeated herself, and she initialed something on a clipboard for the manager.

-------------
An investigation was conducted 4 days later and unfortunately I am still left without a phone.

The finding is that the phone was placed on the counter by the customer who found it. The customer made the cashier aware it. She nodded but the cashier didn't properly secure the phone. At which time another customer who was making a transaction at that very moment stole the phone. How convenient it all is. This was all deduced by the recounts of the cashier in question b/c of course the cameras have been out for a while so there is no footage to verify anything.

I am glad to hear that Rite Aid turns in an average of 3-4 phones a week, but my phone was not.

While I thank Rite Aid for their prompt response in addressing of this matter (the investigator was very gracious) I still am left without my phone. My pictures and video of my children are on that phone. My personal saved email is on that phone. My log in and passwords are stored on that phone. I feel as though my laptop was stolen.

I have been let down by Rite Aid tremendously after having been such a loyal customer and it’s all very unfortunate.

I agree with the other posters. You left the phone and someone picked it up. It wasn't stolen out of your hands or purse. Maybe you shouldn't let your 2 year old play with it.

The fact of the matter is YOU lost your phone. You gave it to a two year old who put it down. That' s on you. They did everything they could for you. I can't believe you're actually blaming them.

Rite Aid advertises prices in the store and when you get to the cash register the price charged is not the advertised sale price, but up to $1 more. This has happened to me several times and I catch it and they blame it on corporate. The cashier states that the corporation sends them the sales prices, and that all of the upc coding that is scanned at the...

Rite Aid manager

I was in the store last week I had ask the manager for some help. That's when her cell phone stared blasting music. She answered and started going off. First of all if you are going to have your phone on at work atlaest cut it to vibrate. Second if you are with a costermer do not answer. I mean if it was not for the costermers she would not have a job. I think that if you get a complaint i think you should be wrote up and after 3 you should be gone. I come to a stor e to be treated like someone not to be treated like my business means nothing. Do not forget about mystery shoppers . They are going to be really upset hen i turn your service in .Thank You, Connie Brown

So my wife was working for this rite aid for about 5 years. She started as a cashier and after 3 years worked her way up to a shift manager. Midway through her employment they changed management, new store manager, and assistant manager. Everything was fine until my wife got pregnant. One instance she was working and was feeling weak and dizzy, she went to...

Rite Aid coupons

Hello, i am an avid rite aid shopper. I purchase almost all of my bath, cleaning, medicine and some food supply there, and i have been for years. I have a wellness card and also decided to take advantage of the weekly coupons i get in the mail. I spent a lot of time reading the catalogue and cutting out coupons. Unfortunately, i ended up wasting a lot of time and expending too much energy and frustration. I shopped and gathered my "sale" items for about an hour and waited on a long line because there weren't enough workers tending to the registers. I got to the register and found that almost all of my supposed "sale" items were actually full priced. The coupons were completely wrong. I still have the receipt to prove it. The catalogue said things like, buy one get one free for certain body washes, kitty litter, rite gaurd deodarant etc. Some items were "2 for $4" such as gillete shaving cream and febreeze. Turns out none of these things were on sale and i had to put everything back. Also, i had my doctor write me a prescription for rite aid instead of walgreens so i could take advantage of the $25 giftcard. Once again, the gift card was only for nj residents over age 65. This was not written in the fine print. I also have that coupon to prove it. I am very frustrated and annoyed that i wasted so much time doing these things and got nothing out of it except frustration. Can someone please explain to me why this happened? Thank you. My email is [protected]@gmail.com

So I went to several Rite Aids today.. and after two that didn't have what I wanted in stock, finally the third one had mostly what I wanted. So I have my cart full of Gains, Pantene, Nivea body washes, etc, and headed to the register with my coupons. I get there and handed my card and waited for her to scan all my items. I then handed her my coupons, with...

Rite Aid rude pharmacist

Back in May I went through drive through of the local Rite Aid. My daughter was with me. I ordered a prescription for Diabetis medicine.
It was Humilog 70/30. First time using my insurance card. They said it will be $40. I said with my card it is that much. They said yes. I told them I didn't have the money and left. On my way home my daughter said call them when you get home and see what costs the $40? I called them and talked to the head pharmacist. He said the needles is what cost the most. the insulin is $8. So I told him I would get the insulin only and not the needles for I was using the little hypodermic 3 cc needles. I knew I could buy them real cheap. My husband went to the drug store and picked up the insulin. Paid $8 for it. I purchased my needles at Walmart. It is on record there.
The following month I called to order my prescription and he said the insulin is $40. I said how can it be? You only charged me $8 last month. He argued with me and told me I didn't pay $8 for the insulin and that I paid $40 for it and bought needles and other medicine.
I didn't save the receipt for I wasn't expecting this. He argued with me and said somebody picked up other medicines he can show me the cash register print out. I said no one here got any other medicine. We argued about it. He said do you want me to transfer your prescriptions. I said we'll see. I hung up. He charged it to the insurance company but I didn't know how to tell them about it for i couldn't prove what went on. i never got any medicine from them again and I transferred my daughters medicine out of there which was over $400 a month. My hubby didn't get hs medicine form there either. I will not use Rite Aid with that rude pharmicist in there.

In perry ny, a pharmacist named arin thinks she's a doctor and she is very rude.If you come to her with a narcotic script, your a drug addict, or a least that's the way she treats you.she will also make you wait as long as she can.So if you get hurt in a accident, get a operation, or what ever reason go to rite aid in perry ny your a drug addict in her mind and expect to be treated like you dont really need it, and you will be there for a long miserable time.

Rite Aid horrible cashiers!!

I was verbally assaulted by a Rite Aid cashier on the evening of 08/14/2010 at store # 1430 in Belpre Ohio.
A few minutes after I walked into the store with my coupon basket, Edna, who was hanging price tags, looked at me & said "Oh no. Are you going to have a 'buttload' of coupons?" I told her that I would be using just a few coupons that night. She walked away & left me thinking that she was annoyed over my coupon use. I continued to shop & take my time gathering items for two transactions. I got out the coupons I would need, & laid them in two piles. As I began to place my first transaction on the counter, Edna stated that "We have a new policy. You need to show me every item & every coupon before I ring anything up." I laid out each item, showed her the coupon I intended to use for each item, & then I laid each coupon on it's corresponding item. I then showed her my $5 off $25 Rite Aid coupon & asked that she be sure to scan that one before any other coupons. She did, but in the middle of the transaction, she glanced over at the coupons for my next transaction & said, "I can't let you use that other $5 off $25 coupon because this one says one per customer." I said "That's not correct. Rite Aid policy allows me to use multiples, as long as they're in separate transactions." I then showed her the coupon & that it was completely different.
I decided to step back & let other customers go ahead of me, so I could get out my Rite Aid coupon policy & find the section that states customers can use more than one total purchase coupon. I tried to show it to her & she said that she couldn't use mine, only the one in the store. I said to her "Could you get it? I'm sure it must be the same as mine since it's off of RiteAid.com." That's when she lost it.
Edna began to get loud & shrill & started yelling at me that SHE knows the policy & then two other cashiers, Doletta & a young blonde with no uniform or nametag, came over to see what was going on. Edna stated to me that they all got a memo & she got yelled at about coupons & that HER copy was at home. I asked her if there was a copy that stays at the store & she said, "Of course." I said "Can you please get it." Doletta listened to Edna yelling at me, & then Doletta told me the same thing as Edna & that they weren't going to get the policy & I said "It doesn't make sense that I can earn three different Video Values coupons for $5 off $25 if I can only ever use one." All this time, Edna is SCREAMING at me. She said the policy was different now. I said "I know. I have a copy of the changes." The only other witness in the store is Edna's husband, who walked in & went behind the counter at first. Then all three began telling me how wrong I was & I asked them to call the district manager. They said "It's almost 9 o'clock on a Saturday & we're not calling him." I said that I would be making a complaint about this the first chance I got & then they REALLY lost it! Edna yelled even louder about how Roxanne no longer worked there because I had sent a complaint about her, which is not entirely true. I read her name tag aloud, then Doletta's, & I asked the girl who was not wearing one what her name was. She held up empty hands & said "I guess I don't have one (a name)." She was my cashier on my prior shopping trip. Her cashier number is [protected].
At this point, with Edna yelling & blonde girl talking, I barely heard Doletta when she said "Are you going to leave?" I said "Yes, but I have this other stuff to buy." Doletta picked up the phone, & I thought she was calling the District Manager to ask about the coupon. I was shocked when I heard her telling the POLICE that she told me several times to leave & I had refused & they couldn't get me out. COMPLETE LIE!
I said (loudly enough to be overheard on the phone) "That's not true. This is the first time anyone said to leave." After she hung up, I overheard blonde girl quietly say to Doletta "If she forgets to leave the other stuff, we'll get her for shoplifting, too." Of course, I was completely flustered, but never forgot that I still had things in my cart. I went to the register near the front & started putting the unpaid things on the counter. Doletta said "You can't buy those things NOW. There's no cash drawer in this register." I told her "I know that. I'm NOT buying this stuff." I had to stand & wait for Edna to unlock the door. As I was leaving & she closed the door, she called me a "Stupid ###ing ###."
I waited a few minutes in my car for the police, but they never showed up, so I left.
I somehow managed to keep my temper through all of this & did not utter one single curse word. I feel abused & assaulted. Naturally, I don't want to go where people are so hostile to me. I am treated very well at CVS & Walgreens & would rather spend my money there if things don't change at Rite Aid # 1430.
Abusive behavior from cashiers seems to be a pattern at store #1430. A few weeks ago, after I had sent an email about not getting my Up+ rewards, another cashier refused to wait on me & take my coupons, although the manager told her she had to. The manager had to wait on me because the other woman still refused. The woman proceeded to tell me that I'm a cheater for using coupons & that I was taking money out of her paycheck & I was "cheating" because my transaction ended up costing me much less after coupons. I stated that that didn't make sense, because Rite Aid chooses to have sale items that are free after Single Check Rebates & takes coupons for those items. She stated that people like me are the reason that R.A.'s revenues were down & that corporate could choose to close down her store, & she'd lose her job & in turn, her paycheck. My thinking is that if I no longer wish to go there, & prefer to take my business elsewhere due to her personal attack & if I were to complain to corporate, that is a far more likely reason for her to lose her job. I considered sending an email complaint & it still eats at me when I think about it, but so far I tried to chalk it up to everyone has a bad day.
A few days after that incident, the cashier # [protected] waited on me. I came in for a couple 12 packs of soda & had no coupons. She did not greet me. She didn't tell me my total. She didn't tell me how much my change was. In fact, she refused to speak one single word to me.
I have spent over $500 on general merchandise at Rite Aid, just since signing up for the Wellness + card in May 2010 (It's mid-August 2010). When I spend that kind of money in that time period at one store chain, I think that entitles me to be treated decently. I don't know if anything could make me go back now. I love getting good deals, but not at this cost.

If you are not afraid to write a complaint and use their names, why did you not sign yours? The store already knows who you are. Are you afraid to let others know? As long as you are telling the truth you should have nothing to hide. Unless maybe others would recognise
your name and be able to place a behavior to who you are.

my grandma has worked at rite aid sence before i was born, my mom also wored there at one point. i know all the women yo just named in this, the blonde may have been one of my best friends, ashley. i know for a fact that none of these ladies would purposly start anything like this.. i believe there is more to the story that you did not put on here. edna is probablythe nicest woman you will ever meet, i love her to death, along with roxanne who is aslo a very nice woman. i am not saying that none of this is true but this person had to of done something to start all of this.

Don't be ignorant! So what if we use coupons. GO right ahead and pay full price for your groceries. I've been paid to shop many times. I understand being tired and working a job that you probably hate. But, it's not okay for them to treat you like that or anyone for that matter! My question is, why do you care? Did you know the store makes money off of couponers? We are most of there business. They don't want to lose a valuable customer. Oh, and how are we ABUSING coupons? Think before you post, ###!

oh, you know there are three sides to every story. Her side, their side, and the truth. This is my guess; this women goes in there on a regular basis on her way home from work, which is close to closing time. She has a handful of coupons, and the employees groan when they see her cause they've been on their feet all day listening to ### customers and getting paid minimum wage, they just want to get out of there, and here comes the coupon lady. I challenge ANYONE to tell me she is not one of those ANNOYING coupon ladies, cause she carries around a store policy with her. Who does that?

So she gets offended that they groaned at her, so she's got attitude. The cashier has attitude, too. Not one person screamed at another person, nobody called the cops, and nobody threated to "get" anybody for shoplifting. I imagine one of the cashiers probably muttered "stupid ###ing ###" as this customer was walking out the door. As for the coupon, ### happens Sometimes the coupons don't work the way you want them to. Get over it and move on. So go to CVS and abuse their coupons now. Nobody's going to miss you and not making any money on the crazy coupon lady.

You need to call corporate and complain. I've gone through similar situations and have been rewarded. These women should be terminated. In fact I've had a situation with some rite aid cashiers and using B1G1 free coupons. I've emailed corporate and today I'm going to call corporate. Tell them you want some sort of incentive to come back to the store again. You need to call the manager and make a complaint. Then, tell them that you will be calling the district manager about this. NO one should be treated like this!

Rite Aid don't honor coupons, rude

They're rude and they don't honor their own coupons. Rite Aid has coupons that allow you to TRANSFER a drug prescription to their store from another drug store and get a $25 gift card. However, they don't honor this coupon. They hide behind some excuse or other to not give you the $25 gift card once you transfer the script.

In my case, they claimed that they only gave the gift card if the prescription had been filled before at another drug store. I explained that their coupon doesn't say that; therefore, they should honor what the coupon DOES SAY. Nowhere on the coupon does it say that it is only valid on refills. I explained that once a prescription is only able to be filled at their store, and not the store where the prescription was dropped off, then that prescription has been TRANSFERRED. If they are interested in changing the English language so that "transfer" means "refill, " then they have bigger problems than printing false coupons and pissing off half their customers.

Both the pharmacist and his assistant laughed in my wife's face and snapped at her and me rudely as if we were doing something wrong and not they. When we left in utter disgust, I called the pharmacist and he was a bigger idiot on the phone than he was in person.

I called their customer service department and talked to "Bob" (yeah, right!) and I explained what happened. He reiterated that the company policy was a shift in the English language whereby RiteAid considers "refills" to be "transfers." I explained the tenants of the English language to him, and asked him if he cared that his coupons were stating a bald-faced lie to every RiteAid customer. He flatly stated that he did not care, so I laughed at him and hung up on him.

My recommendation is that every person who reads this email steal from RiteAid every time they walk in the store. I mean, you can change the word "theft" to "purchased, " because RiteAid is in favor of applying the standard definition of one word to another, completely different word. I'm sure they would approve since they do the same thing.

RiteAid doesn't deserve to be business. They hire complete ###s who can't figure out that the blame lays with their own company printing false coupons and not their customers. I say we all work together to shut these idiots down. How do we do this? Tell your stories and the others you've read about. Tell every person you know. Don't visit their stores unless you can do it so that it's a complete loss to their bottom line. In any way you can think of, chip away at their pretense of business power. Do something, and then do something else. Do something tangible every single day to undermine and weaken RiteAid's structure.

That "rule" is to keep people like you from dropping off your rx at Pharmacy A, have them either fill the rx or file it, both taking time out of their day, then you trying to "transfer" an rx that has NEVER been filled! Filled means filled and picked up...quit trying to rip off every pharmacy you shop at.

You're an idiot for telling people to steal from the stores. Depending on what management is working, these people mainly do only what they are told. If they are told they can't give it to you then they wont. Not everyone who works there is a ###. They are people with a ### job just trying to get through the miserable day where the policies make people like you mad who in turn try to make the worker's day miserable right back. It's not the employee's fault if they were told to deny it. They're just obeying the people who can fire them and make them go broke.

Rite Aid short tempered manager

I was in the store today trying to return an Item and the cashier ( which was new) tried paging the manager to no avail. When he did finally come to the counter, he was very abrupt and short with the cashier in front of all the customers. I know it made her feel bad. I was angry for having to wait such a long time. This manager needs to learn how to control his anger and frustration in front of customers. He also needs to learn how to respect his employees and talk to them decently with out snapping at them. This is not the first time I have seen this reaction in regards to the Manager. I do not want to have to deal directly with him again.

Rite Aid rude employees

THIS DRUG STORE HAS A VERY BAD ATTITUDE TOWARDS ITS CUSTOMERS, IT TAKES FOREVER TO GET A PRESCRIPTION REFILLED. WHEN YOU ASK A QUESTION THEY ACT LIKE YOU ARE PUTTING THEM OUT TO GET AN ANSWER. I AM SO TIRED OF HEARING I WILL BE RIGHT WITH YOU WHILE THEY CHAT TO THEIR NEIGHBORS FOR 10 OR 15 MINUTES. THEY HAVE THE PEOPLE OF MILO LOCKED IN BECAUSE WE DONT HAVE ANYWHERE ELSE TO GO. IF THERE WAS RITE AID WOULD HAVE NO CUSTOMERS.

11-30-10
Monday I asked Terry to get me two bundles of ones she said is that all you need, I said yes and she came behind the counter and made me do a no-sale which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place, took out some money and came back with a slew of fives that I did not ask for or need at the time which made my drawer stuffed and sloppy. Awhile later I called Terry for a 'pick-up' only she did the pick-up and took money out of my drawer, I said no I didn't ask for change only a pick-up she ignored and came back with money that I did not ask for. I understand the kill two birds with one stone thing, but would you please ask your shift supervisor's and store managers to listen to what the cashier is asking for to keep our drawer from being over stuffed and raggedy and it is frustrating to tell someone what you want and have them tell you what you are going to get. Rite Aid unfair hiring practices

This rite-aid store have been in this location for over 11 years and have only hired 2- african americans, with ony 1- african american employed to date and has been the only african american at this location for the past 3-1/2 years not to mention I wasn't hired off the street but through a merge from another store, other than that, I would't even be employed at rite aid, as african americans do apply at this location and there has been openings with in the past year or less and rite-aid at this location, 0875 corner of lovers lane and sunset Blvd. steubenville ohio, they refuse to hire african americans. Believe you me, being the only african american at rite aid is 'no picnic' its very discriminatory as I can name a few incidents that has occured with mysef as I am going to continue to keep notes, date of incidents, and copies of my schedule to prove my point when I file my complaint with higher authorities in the near future. white people are hired at this rite-aid even when the position isn't posted to the public, there's jobs in this city "but" only at certain stores and certain positions for african americans. This is called unfair hiring practices as all jobs should be posted to the public, this issue has been brought to rite-aids human resourse dept. and still no fair results.

Oh please. It doesn't matter if you're black or white. You get a job through "connections" and who you know. If an "African American" was really buddy buddy with your manager and needed a job, he'd probably get hired in a snap. I got my job only because I was friends with two of the employees who had been there for years, not because I'm white. Openings don't have to be "announced to the public" first. They are known to the other employees first and friends of workers or transfers get those positions first. Majority white businesses are not "racist". It's just like the lunch tables in high school. You've got the tables where white people go, the tables where black people go, and the tables where people of the two races mix together.

Rite Aid is horrible when it comes to hiring people. Usually that's because the people working there have the education of a 10th grader. I'm saying that from experience. I worked for six years (while in high school and college) for Rite Aid and I have to say that it was the worst experience ever. B.J.1950, don't bother even complaining-it's a waste of your time. If your HR manager is anything like mine was, you'll die of natural causes before they ever get around to your complaints. I quit Rite Aid 3 years ago with two weeks notice and am still trying to figure out exactly why I was "fired". You're better off spending your energy on finding a different employer...

Rite Aid selling expired cards

I live on a campus and my parents bought me a 60 minute card as a present one day. I typed in the code and was disappointed to get a message sent to my phone saying that the code failed and that I had to call customer service. I did so and spent a good while getting transferred from one person to the next, and when I was finally given an answer, I was told that the code wasn't in their systems because the card was actually two years old. The represenitive then told me that I could not get my money back, but had to take the card back to the store I had bought it from (Rite Aid).

Of course, doing so was impossible since I'm stuck on campus and only see my parents on weekends. So sadly they wasted a good 20 bucks buying me minutes. I'm unsure if this is the fault of TracFone sending out expired cards or Rite Aid for not restocking, but either way, be careful about buying TracFone cards! You could end up wasting your cash!

That's true of almost any store. I was two years into my work there before I even knew the cards COULD expire.

Rite Aid misleading sales

I was recently perusing the endcaps in my local Rite-Aid Pharmacy. This is where the store traditionally puts their specials and sale items. It's all designed to catch the consumer's eye for purchase.

On one of them, I saw this sign: CLEARANCE 50% OFF STICKERED ITEMS ONLY

This was one of those yellow sticky type of ads that the store puts into the frame and can remove easily. So I looked at the items, and of course, all of them are stickered. Naturally.

So I choose one, a battery-operated fountain which was stickered at $9.99. When I brought it to the register, it should have rung up at $5.00. Of course, it doesn't. I tell the cashier it was on an endcap that was labeled clearance, 50% off. He calls the manager. She runs off to check. I go after her to tell her where to look.

When we arrived at the endcap, she immediately pulls off the yellow sticky and put it in her pocket. Then she tells me that there was no sale. Mind you, I watched her put the clearance sticky in her pocket. I asked her what exactly was the point of having that sticker that was now in her pocket on that endcap for if not one item on that shelf was on sale? She hemmed and hawed and said "Well, nothing there is on sale. Nothing I see is stickered." (As I said before, everything was stickered with HUGE stickers.)

I told her that what her store was doing was a bait and switch type of ploy, and no matter how anyone looked at it, it was illegal. I explained to her that she couldn't just remove this sticker in front of me and tell me there wasn't a sale. She told me she wasn't going to sell me something from that shelf at 50% just because I saw that sticker. Mind you, she didn't even say the sticker was misplaced!

I told her to take the sticker out of her pocket so I could see it again. She did. I then took it and put it back on the shelf and took a picture of it with my cell phone. I told her I was sending that picture to the state's consumer agency for illegal retail practices in the D.A.'s office and thanked her for her cooperation.

Her mouth dropped open. Instead of apologizing, or offering to sell me the goods to make her store look good, she ran to her store phone. She called her manager to tell him what had just happened. Apparently, the situation made her rather nervous.

I see Rite-Aid Pharmacy doesn't teach its employees that the customer is always right. Nor do they engage in proper pricing of their goods. Apparently they also use false advertising on their shelving as a tactic for more sales. I shudder to think of the senior citizens that shop there. How many of them actually check to see that they are being rung up correctly? Or how about those people that have learning disabilities and cannot quickly check the tab as it's being rung by the cashier?

I have seen many items not priced on Rite-Aid's shelves before, and have had to have price checks done. This is often done in sales bins. Hmmmmmm...

This is not a store I shop anymore, only in an emergency.

Hi again Jake. It just wasn't worth it to call Corporate.

I personally post in these type of forums for a reason. Many other people read what others write here. Sometimes that spurs them to write their stories. From there, others can see the complaints consumers have against America's stores. I'm sure you can see a pattern emerging.

I'm not talking about the silliness that some people partake in because they have nothing better to do. I'm talking about the real complaints that actually educate and empower people about what they can do if such a situation arises in front of them.

That's really what this is about. Education. Empowerment. Enrichment. Not my item at 50% off. But thanks anyway. :)

Well hello again, Mr. Rite-Aid. You missed the point. I never wanted compensation. I wanted the store to stand behind what was posted. That is quite simple. I have worked managerial retail all of my life. I know the roads to take. I also know that the manager on duty has the control to satisfy a customer to keep a customer. This was not done.

Instead, what she did, was hurry to her phone and call her manager to discuss the situation in plain view of the store. Her entire response to the situation was ludicrous and not befitting of one in her position.

Why should I be the one to call a hotline, a complaint line, or a corporate office to deal with this minute matter? I don't feel I must do that when I have this forum. Let the powers-that-be read what they want, see how America feels about them and make their decisions from there. I have better things to do than spend my time on hold, being switched from one customer service person to another until I am satisfied.

You are young yet. In time, you will learn. Thank you for responding.

Re: Jake, or should I call you, Consumer Relations for Rite-Aid Corporate? Do not attempt to insult me or anyone reading this forum with information obviously taken from your training manual for new employees in how to service the floor at Rite-Aid.

You are new at Complaints. You have only answered this complaint. What you have written is obviously a discourse aimed at a lower lever intelligence that does not have mental stamina to sift through a multitude of semantics to find what is really being said.

Everything you have written is nothing but a "bait and switch" tactic to try and influence readers against the complaint listed. There is something you don't realize about the kind folks at this site, though. They are here to find out about the wrong-doings of companies like yours. They are quite saavy people. They are quite intelligent, some are cunning; if not conning, and some are intellectuals that are fed up with corporate giants that have made enough money to forget where their first dollar bill originated.

To address some of your meanderings. All of the items on the endcap were stickered with an extra sticker. No, a customer did not "misplace" one item. I don't need an associate to "explain" a sale to me. A sale is a sale is a sale. A sign depicting a sale with clearly worded English is enough.

I avoid stores that are dishonest to me and have a true record of mis-dealings with the public. This record can be documented with the Better Business Bureau, or sites such as this one. There are many other stores to shop that do not deal with the public this way, such as CVS or Walgreens to name just two.

The customer is always right is a business theorem. Have you forgotten it in your corporate hightowers? Pity you. I am not talking about the repeat customer that returns items on a weekly basis without a receipt, or returns items used and wants cash refunds. This was a one-time deal. Not only has Rite-Aid lost my business, multiply that by the people reading this and being reminded of an incident that may have occurred to them, but also, the number of people that read this article. It is published not only here, but in Facebook, Twitter and many other sites. Anyone reading it has that ability to re-post it.

No, I didn't have an attitude. I'd say the manager did, though. Grabbing the sticker off the endcap and sticking it in her pocket constitutes a lack of professionalism. I was glad she handed it back to me so I could take one picture. I would have taken another larger one, but she grabbed the sticker back again before I could. Does that answer your question about my photographic proof?

In essence, Mr. Rite-Aid, hope this helped you. Do not ever assume. This response was not posted maliciously, but rather, helpfully to you.

If you wanted anything from the store you should have called the Corporate Office or the District Manager. While it may help you blow off some steam, filing a complaint or posting on a forum isn't going to remedy the situation that occurred at this store.

I have worked retail for 1/3 of my life and I don't think my age has anything to do with it. I am actually a supervisor at one of these Rite Aids that you despise. While I would have honored the sale for you, sometimes people make mistakes, life goes on. I'm sorry you didn't get your item at 50% off.

I do not work for Rite Aids corporate office, and nothing I said has been taken out of a manual. I work for Rite Aid and Walgreens, and I know many people who work for CVS. I'm a simple college student working a part time job (I don't consider that a "high tower"). I was simply trying to say that this is how these stores operate, all of them. They all use the same marketing and sale strategies.

Because you had an issue in a specific store does not mean the entire Rite Aid community is corrupt. I guarantee had you called Rite Aid's corporate office and explained your ordeal they would have compensated you in order not to lose a customer. I've seen it happen before. Being angry and filing complaints will not get you far in your battle.

As far as the people at this site, they can read both sides of the argument and make their own decisions where to shop. I am only pointing out that complaints such as yours can be found for any major chain store. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but maybe next time if you try calling the complaint line or corporate office of Rite Aid or any other store you have an issue with, they will most likely remedy your situation.

Those signs that say 50% off include at the bottom (stickered items only) this means that the item must have a clearance sign on it's label or a small round yellow clearance sticker on the item itself, it was probably a misplaced item. Although Rite Aid's clearance sales can be confusing they are not designed as a bait and switch tactic. Because many shoppers place unwanted items anywhere they want, things end up in wrong places all the time. This is why Rite Aids clearance signs say that the items must have the clearance sticker on them.

This may be confusing but if you asked the associates they should have explained this to you. Rite Aid and its competitors all use very similar advertising, and sale techniques so avoiding this store isn't going to solve your problem and you will likely run into a miscommunication in a retail store again.

The customer is always correct theory is highly abused in todays marketplace. We are told to stick to policies otherwise consumers would make ridiculous demands. The customer is right to a certain extent.

Although the manager may have had an attitude with you it sounds as though you weren't acting in the most professional of matters also. Had you inquired about the sale, rather than assumed, the situations events may have unfolded differently.

Not to sound malicious but, if the photo posted was the one you will be using as "proof" shouldn't you have taken a shot of the entire end cap that was, as you said, covered in huge stickers? Hope this helps.

Rite Aid injury

Rite-Aid Bakersfield CA
In Dec 2008 around 7PM I was at a recently opened Rite-Aid Location in California and upon exiting the store, stepping from a very brightly lit store into a very dark walk way and parking lot, I tripped over an unmarked curb and fell. First off I was very lucky that I “only” injured my right ankle and my pride, because even after people pointed out to employees that there was someone hurt laying in walkway, Rite-Aid employees huddled in the doorway just gawking. I am in my sixties and they had no idea whether I was having a heart attack, fell or what happened, G-d forbid they should have come outside and checked. Now about 5-7 minutes had gone by, my right ankle was the size of a cantaloupe and throbbing. My friend, inside the store, had finally completed her purchases, saw me and came rushing over, grabbing for her cell phone. About the same time a very sweet couple stopped, as luck would have it she was an ortho nurse, took one look at my ankle and insisted her husband scoop me up off the walkway and they drove me to the hospital. Rite-Aid employees waited till I was in the truck before one of them gingerly approached with clipboard in hand to take down information.
I was appalled by the lack of concern shown by Rite-Aid employees and the time it took to come to the aid of an injured customer. Rite-Aid is a national company surely they must have policies in place and employee training on how to handle accidents and injuries sustained by customers. If that’s it, I am not impressed and it does not say much for Rite-Aid.
As it turned out I did not break my right ankle (which actually would have been better in the long run) but literally shredded the ligaments around the ankle bones. Eventually it required 6 month of physical therapy to get some range of motion back, when you are on your sixties you don’t heal as well and I still have residual effects of the injury. It has altered many aspects of my life, I am no longer able to run, still walk every day but cannot go the distance because my right ankle becomes painfully inflamed. It has certainly has altered the way I approach my yoga training, certain poses have become too painful and I am either not able to do them or have to compensate. Driving has become increasingly difficult and painful.
Now comes the good part: Rite-Aid told my attorney (I think I made a bad choice there, too) they would settle for $4, 500.00 (that is four thousand five hundred dollars), which does not even cover my medical expenses even without the attorney’s cut taken out.
Due to my husband’s long term illness and medical expenses, I had lost my home, car……….everything. I was living in a shelter, going back to school to finish my degree and I had just interviewed for a position as a live-in assistant that could be worked around my classes. Because of this injury I had to withdraw from the position and had to modify my class schedule to accommodate physical therapy sessions. I am about two semesters behind with classes, still stuck in the shelter and Rite-Aid does not even want to pay my medical bills. Yes, Rite-Aid certainly cares about seniors………………… as long as they get your money first you could die outside their store and they will just huddle and watch……….

I have work a few retail jobs. Employees are not suppose to help hurt people do much of anything. We are not even allowed to break up fist fights in the store because then the store becomes involved in the ordeal. Sorry to hear about your ankle, but the store is not at fault.

If you want sympathy you shouldn't look at someone who makes minimum wage to do so. They do not want to be there, let alone get involved with some one who may have hurt themselves.

It is awful that you were injured and very unlucky for you. But don't blame the employees of Rite Aid for any of that. First of all, what is an "unmarked" curb? Do we have to put a sign 10' in front of curbs? Does that mean we have to put signs in front of sidewalks, too? We're getting a little ridiculous here.

Secondly, when you fell and hurt your ankle, did you stay lying flat on the ground with your eyes closed? Is that why the employees should have thought you might be having a heart attack? I am sure they weren't allowed to touch you. They probably should have yelled something to you and called an ambulance, but then again, Rite Aid only hires people who will accept mimimum wage, so they were probably teenagers who have no idea what to do in that instance.

Third, I imagine you do have some sort of insurance. If you didn't, you would not be allowed to walk inside a physical therapy center.

Fourth, you mentioned "due to my husband's long term illness..." you had lost your home. While that's very unfortunate, it has nothing to do with Rite Aid. You shouldn't be suing them for other problems you have. And as my son had PT for a while, I know how accomodating they are with their hours. Surely they could have worked around your work and class schedule so you didn't have to give up your job.

It sounds like a lot of exaggeration here to get more money.

p.s. I'm not so sure I believe the walkway and parking lot were "very dark" either. But if they were, that could account for why nobody came out to help you for 5-7 minutes; maybe they didn't see you.

Rite Aid wants personal info

I have enjoyed shopping at (Thrifty) Rite Aid for almost half a century. If I am unable take advantage of sale prices due to not having a wellness rewards card, I will make all my future drugstore purchases at CVS. They require a card also, however no personal information is required to receive one. I refuse to supply personal information in order to get a sale price. If this is the only way you can avoid bankruptcy, I will sadly be forced to contribute to your demise by ceasing to shop at Rite Aid. Maybe your employees can find jobs at CVS.

I work at a Rite Aid pharmacy in NC and to let you know when you fill out the forms for the wellness card you don't have to put your phone number or birthday if that is the personal information you are talking about. Just remember if you get the card and we scan it everytime you come in to the store and you didn't put your number on the form we will ask you for your number or if you lose the card we cant find it for you in the system and you will have to get a new card. We can get fired for scanning a card and letting you get a discount without filling out a form. So keep in mind that none of your information is shared. Your birthdate is to let them know you are old enough to have the card. We see that your old enough but corporate cannot. Someone should have explain these things to you. But everyone takes information like this on there forms and be nice to the cashiers when you go into places that have cards to where you have to have it to get the sale price. It wasn't our idea so don't get angry at us. Just passing on some information. Thanks.

Rite Aid rude customer service from supervisor, and very offensive

today, the 16th of April, I dropped my 6 year old off at school this morning and went to go get some hair products in the Rite Aid by his school, which I go in that store often. At least, once a week.
I had just woken up about a half hour or so beforehand, having to take my son to school, and I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma, so I was feeling too ill to style my hair. I threw on some flip flops and went out the door.
Upon arriving in the store, I noticed every isle I went down, a woman would stand literally 2 feet next to me. So I had a question about a vitamin and asked do they come in 60 rather than 30. Right next to me was a woman doing inventory, which I didn't think this supervisor who was following me was concerned about me, because why would I do anything in front of another Rite Aid employee if I had intentions of wrongdoing.
Then I went to the hair products. The woman followed right behind me, then proceeded to stand about 4, 5 feet away from me as I looked at the hair syling products. I then went to the next isle, more hair products. along, she came. I did not think for one minute that she thought I had intentions of wrongdoing, so I said to her, "If I didn't know better, I'd think you were following me." and then I laughed. Very rudly, she said, "I am allowed to walk around any part of this store I want to and do what I want." I then was so taken back, I said, oh I'm sorry. I was only joking. It then hit me, she thought I was trying to steal. So I wanted to find out for sure. I went to the pet isle, and along she came. I then got very, very offended, having never been in trouble in my life, and never having stolen anything but a pack of gum when I was 5. I said to her I wanted to speak to the supervisor. Well, she was the supervisor. I said you are following me and standing behind me everywhere I go. I have a carry cart, I am putting my items in it. I told her it seems to me you think I have intentions of stealing. She said, "I am allowed anywhere in this store I want." I then got very offended. I told her, listen, I know I may not look too good right now, my hair not being styled, I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma and did not have strength to get dolled up this morning. She then said If I was not happy with her following me, then I could go elsewhere to shop. I showed her that I had 400.00 cash in my wallet in hundred dollar bills and I never stole in my life. I then asked her for the number of the regional supervisor that I could call to speak to and complain about this because I was so, so offended. She said, ok, and gave me the number. I left the store, proceeded to drive home, called the number, and guess what... it was the Rite aid washington twp store, the one I was just at. I drove back and asked her why she would do that to me? That I shouldn't have even been out shopping feeling so ill and she made me drive all the way down the road, call the number, and realize it was her picking up the phone. I then asked please give me the number of who I can make a complaint to and she said there is no one. I was upset. I cried and I left.
I am a court stenographer in Philadelphia. I am a notary public. This was very, very offensive and all the times I've been in that Rite aid store, I have never seen her there. and I mentioned that to her, that the cashiers all new me from being in the store often (I actually was in yesterday, the day before). and I never saw this supervisor in my life.
She was very rude and very offensive and I'd like to make a complaint to someone higher at rite aid, but she said I cannot.

I think the point you made about they know you because you shop there all the time is the thing that speaks the loudest. As a past manager of a retail pharmacy I would only follow the customers that have been thought to shoplift in the past, otherwise I would not waste my time.

Rite Aid missing pills from prescription

My father droppped off a Prescription Feb 27, 2010. They gave him 30 pills. He went back for his refill the end of March and they said they had given him 90 pills in February. He is 76 and knows to take the bottle to the Pharmacy when it is empty. They took the bottle from him and told him to come back the end of May. He needs his heart pills - Two months without them is a health risk. They said we can not prove they did not give him 90 pills - He can not read information with out a Magnifying glass - He did not think getting 30 pills was an issue in February - He always received 30 pills from them in the past. They told me there is nothing they can do - Come back in 60 days.

This has also happened to my uncle from a Rite Aid in Pa. Bottle said 90 pills only 30 in it! I contacted his Part D immediately and notified them and they noted it was only 30 so he could get the refill the next month. Rite Aid swore it was 90 but they must have either taken the pills themselves or sold them illegally. My uncle doesn't even get any scripts for 90 days they are all always 30 days! Our Rite Aid is horrible and I just wrote a letter to the board of directors detailing the NUMEROUS problems I've been dealing with for 2 elderly family members who live with me, I also filed complaints with the BBB, Consumer protection and consumer affairs. Don't take the abuse from this company, file the complaints! They do not get renewals on scripts in any sort of timely manner which now has us running for refills every few days and prevents us from filling med boxes a week at a time as we are always missing something at this point to complete daily meds. They have 1000 excuses and its ALWAYS the customer or a doctors fault when it's neither, thier advertising is misleading and deceptive as they do none 0f the things they promised, we've been given the wrong pills in bottles that were labeled correctly but wrong med in bottles, my mother has been foreced to skip a couple days at a time of meds because Rite Aid did not refill on time or renew despite calling every script in 1-2 weeks in advance to be SURE the refill would be done in time. Rite Aid is a disgrace plain and simple and as I've today I'm not putting up with it anymore and switching all the scripts to another pharmacy.

Rite Aid won't honor their own sale policy

Rite Aid won't honor their own sales flyers in New York City. Because some stores in Manhattan are small and don't carry all the sales items, they use a smaller sales flyer for Manhattan. I have no problem with them not honoring their sale price on items that these smaller stores don't stock, but my local store, at least, does stock *some* of the items omitted in the Manhattan flyer, but they won't honor the sales price. Rite Aid phone customer service says they should. The district manager says they should, if I print out the sales from their full east coast flyer. But a succession of store managers have refused to. At first the district manager would make things right and make sure that I was able to buy items on sale at Rite Aid at the sale price. But after managers moved on and new ones again refused to honor Rite Aid's sale prices, the district manager no longer would help me. I assume he thought it was easier to label me a trouble maker than to make sure his managers knew what Rite Aid policy was.

I have never been rude or abusive and have always regarded Rite Aid customer service as my ally when store managers acted against store policy.

Now I find myself getting everyone I speak with in the company to agree that the store manager should sell me sale items at the price presented in the store flyer on the web site, but nobody willing to actually get the store to sell me these items at the right price.

When there is no problem, Rite Aid has great sale prices and many "free after rebate" items. When there is a problem, Rite Aid, at least in my case, is unresponsive, unhelpful, and absolutely frustrating.
