2 rude pharmacists, and a 3rd more pleasant
On January 25th at approx 4 p.m. in the Rite-Aid store on Pitman Street in Providence RI, I experienced an unpleasant situation with two of your pharmacists. It was a dreadful day of almost monsoon conditions, and I had a prescription for Lipitor that I was picking up.
A young black female pharmacist got the prescription for me and asked for $45. I had a new Lipitor discount card from my doctor and she pointed out to me that it required that I had to call it in to register it. I went out to my car to use my cellphone and learned that the new card was not necessary, that my 2009 discount (which they've had on record since last year) was still in tact, and that they had been extended to 2011.
When I returned with this information, this woman avoided me, but a very sweet young woman took care of it and told me I was still on record for the discount. (I did not need the new card I'd picked up, at this point). This latter woman told me the co-pay was $30. The black woman had asked for $45 earlier.
As I stood waiting for the latter woman's research, a riled customer came up to another window and complained someone had rolled her eyes at her and she wanted to bypass her. I looked around, saw nobody else, and assumed she was talking about me. When she walked away, I asked the black woman pharmacist had the woman been referring to me, because if she was, I was going apologize if I'd given her that impression. The pharmacist sarcastically assured me that it was not me she had been talking about.
What my annoyance with this is that another pharmacist sitting at the end of the area asked the black woman what I had said, and she scowled as the black woman turned her back to me and muttered something critical.
Call me paranoid, but the whole situation struck me as very unprofessional and catty. Ordinarily, I don't give credence to such behavior, but this is about the fourth time I have experienced rudeness from your employees in this store. I do about $4, 000 worth of business a year in the store, and I am offended by the lack of respect for the customers. I also have been charged full price for advertised on-sale items at least a half dozen times. When this was Brooks Pharmacy, it was run more efficiently and the quality of personnel was much more superior.
I am fed up with their treatment of customers and will be taking my business elsewhere.

yes i do agree with the comments coz i m been facing this situation like more than that coustomer coz its the only drug store near my house bt i hate being direspected now
I totally agree with you and you should transfer all your prescriptions to either walgreens or CVS as Rite Aid might a history in near future
stay away from them
This evening about 7:00p.m. I unwillingly went to RiteAid to make a purchase. Of course there were no visible personnel to help me find one of the items. Finally, I found the item and proceeded to the cashier area to find that there were nine (9) customers in front of me and one (1) cashier. I always avoid the store located at the corner of Halsey Street and Broadway in Brooklyn, New York. Customers were complaining and the cashier was doing her best along with calling two individuals to come to the cashier area immediately. Three individuals eventually slowly made their way behind the counter but stood around talking and laughing. One of the individuals who opened a station, I recognized, he had no ID, so therefore when I was trying to find a purchase I did not ask him to help me. There is no explanation why a cashier should have to continue calling for help to service customers. It was counter-productive, for one, she had to walk across two stations to get to the PA system and then back to the cash register. This is the only RiteAid I've seen operate in this manner. This incident encourages me to make every effort to avoid RiteAid.

I am extremely unhappy with your pharmacy in woodcrest.I took my script to them they filled it then informed me that there store does not accept MISP so I called the one in perris, ca they told me that because of the transfers I no longer have the refills so they can not do it either. Now I am out of meds and have no refills.Thank you for messing this up. very angry customer.

Just because you cannot see other patients doesn't mean the pharmacist isn't taking care of someone else. I know pharmacists have people drop and say they'll be right back as well as calls from a physician's office saying the patient is on there way. Sorry you were so sick but remember looks can be deceiving.
I had the most horrific experience at Rite Aid in San Diego, Ocean Beach branch. I was very ill with high fever and asked a woman in the pharmacy about cough lozenges. She told me to wait and proceeded to idly moving stuff on the counter and looking at some papers. I couldn't even stand with 103 F temperature, found a plastic container near the wall and set on it continually looking at the woman in the white coat. Then a man came to the window and directed me to isle 18. Isle 18 was quite long and I couldn't find what I was looking for. I came back to the window and asked at least the name of the medicine. All this time there were no customers at the pharmacy except me and yet I felt that those people were not there to help. It was Saturday afternoon, April 16, 2011. I will never ever go to that business again and don't recommend anybody else to do so.

bad management
The Rite Aid company is a great for unexperience management people. These people do not know how to treat customers and employees. I go to Rite Aid store # 4992 always for the shopping and pick up medicine, and I see the management and behavior of working people in there are very bad now. They terminated good employees (Anita and Krishna)Who helped me so...

I sent this note to rite aid customer service:
I am writing to express my disappointment, confusion, and at the lack of service and care I received Sunday, November 15 at your store number 10161, located on Somerville Ave in Somerville Ma.
Your posted hours state that the pharmacy will close at 5 pm. My pediatrician wrote a prescription for my daughter for Amoxicillin at about 4pm. I called the store to confirm the hours of the pharmacy, and I arrived at the pharmacy at approximately 4:45. Your employees in the pharmacy had already put down the shades were in the process of locking the service window. The pharmacist in duty, whose name is Melanie refused to provide me service because "I am closing in ten minutes", and “I should have got there earlier.”
Her attitude was completely unsuitable and unacceptable for a medical caregiver, and is unfitting for a representative of a company who prides themselves on being “focused on and committed to the healthcare needs of your customers”.
If it is your company policy that customers will not be served 15 minutes before the posted closing time, then that policy should itself be posted. If this employee was acting in her own, then you should be made aware that her actions have resulted in losing the lifetime business of me and my family. The mentality of turning away customers because you do not want to do your job for the duration of your shift is shortsighted for an employee of a company with a goal of improving pharmacy sales, and makes your organization seem unprofessional and, frankly, incompetent.
As a point of contrast, after I left the store I quickly drove to a CVS, where the staff filled my order without complaint, even though I arrived after their posted closing time.
I hope this letter prompts either a change in your policy or a change in the way your employees are trained to provide "personal" service to your customers.

since when does one go to the emergency room to be seen for an condition, and stare at the doctor and constanstly rush him for your diagnosis?
neverrrrrrr! why? because you want him to make the best decsion!
THE SAME RULE APPLIES IN PHARMACY PEOPLE!
do not rush the pharmacy technicians or pharmacist- your life is in their hands.
people now treat technicians and pharmacist's like they work at burger king. they want their prescriptions filled in five mins, regardless of everybody else that came before them.
its not fast food people.
it's very understandable that your ill and you have just spent and hour at the doctor .. BUT when you give this some thought..
this medication that the doctor has carefully prescribed to you, the pharmacy must dispense- THE CORRECT WAY!
so give them room :) put yourself in their shoes. and if you dont like the pace they work at
get behind the counter and try and do the job for them.. because i put money on it.. you COULD'NT ! you would be the clueless one!
so stop [censored]ing guys, and think.

overcharges
I am on a state funded pharmacy program. rite aid in cookeville tn told my the prices are valid. I was supposed to pay a copayment of $3 for each med. I paid (cash) for my meds $198 for one and 129 for the other for 3 months in a row. they found the mistake on their computer but said that corporate would handle it a regional manager called and said that in order for them to pay me back that they would have to wait for the insurance company to them. They make 17 billion dollars a yyear and they can't pay me back? this in unconscionable.I called the insurance co today and they told me that rite aid had'nt even submitted aclaim yet this 3 wks ago very sorry cust service. I actually had to get off of one other med because I couldn't afford the (erroneuos) $243 that rite aid was overcharging me .this is pretty sorry. "with us it's personal" thats their new mantra. yeah, right I will conact the states atny gen office neaxt

HI
Today I was harassed by a security Guard at Rite Aid Pharmacy. He was the only security guard working at the time. This guy followed me around the entire store like I was about to steal something. I notice he didn’t bother with the other consumers so I informed the manger that was on duty. When I spoke to the manager he told me that he could not do anything about it. I asked the manager for his name and he gave it to me. When I asked him for the security guard name he refused to give it to me. The question I’m asking is there anyway I can make a complaint on the security guard and if possible the manager too and how can I go by doing it. Thanks! And the reason why I want to do something about this is because I don’t want an innocent person like myself to be harassed.

You probably looked suspicious somehow, like a recent theft that occured with someone of a similar profile like yours. In alot of stores young people heading towards certain aisles after a certain time at night are carefully watched due to repeated thefts of particular items.

On 10/16/09 I walked into the Cedar Knolls, NJ Rite Aid Pharmacy. I dropped off a prescription for my husband and was told there would be a 20 minute wait. We purchased yesterday a box of baby formula singles as well as a bottle of the ready to use formula. Both are Similac advance. My husband did not read the exp dates. I received a call today from the sitter that the formula our newborn had been drinking all day was expired I quickly rushed to check the dates on the singles and they too expired in 2008. It is extremely harmful to the babies and can cause upset stomach and worse. It is wrong for the store not to pull these products from the shelves.

report it before someone dies
It is incredibly negligent of them not to pull these expired products but this is why I always check the expiry date, both when purchasing and before use. It saves a lot of hassle. I think you should file a complaint with the Health Board because many other parents may not have caught it in time.

On August 20th I went in to have a half dozen rolls of film developed. I chose this location as I had actually worked at this particular store several years before while in college. I went into Rite Aid and wanted to pay for 2 items. I left my debit card on the counter and turned to my niece in the baby carriage to tend to her and then turned around again to address the cashier. He told me the total so I nodded and he seemed like he was wating for me so I said u have my card ... and he said I dont have your card. I said you do have my card because I put it right here on the counter and now its gone... he got annoyed and said I do not have your card ... so I got alittle louder and insisted that I had put my card down and turned to give the baby the pillow I had just bought her and began to draw the attention of other shoppers so then when he realized I was not going to just give him another card and kept insisting I left my debit card in front of us he began looking around and proceeds to pull my debit card out from under need the couter about 3 feet away ... well i went basically nuts and made a scene and asked for a manager because there was no way in hell i wanted him to continue helping me nor could he explain how my card got behind his counter 3 feet away except that then he said oh i must have accidentaly grabbed it when i was throwing away the ticket from the pillow but i insisted that is not the garbage pale which was clear as day behind him... he told me i was "buggin" was the term he used and then the manager after being paged 3 times arrived i explained what happened and she finished my transaction and told him to stop answering and mouthing off to me... i am calling the main company but wanted to see if there were other complaints of this happening and chose to post this... I am sure there is security cameras so I would love to see this

For one why would you leave your debit card on the counter and turn your back? Thats just stupid. So if he did do it that would be your own fault. Don't you know you can't trust many people in this world?
Are you sure he tried to steal your card; or did he just make a mistake? Really, where do you get off accusing him of trying to steal your card and then expecting him t0 not "mouth off" to you? I have a feeling you are a very negative person in your everyday life. Don't darken the doorstep of Rite Aid any more and attribute to these poorly paid, underappreciated employees' day full of cranky customers. And yes, ErinSadler, I am an adult with a debit card. I'm not an adult that assumes the worst about people, makes scenes in public and then proudly tells the world about it on the internet.
I think you are nuts and looking to start fights because you are severelly unhappy with your life. There is no need to cause a scene when the manager came up and tried to help you. It's people like YOU that make customer "service" a living, breathing hell. These people are not your slaves, they are human beings that, yes, make mistakes, and the reason they "mouth off" to you is because, again, you are crazy. Adjust your meds.
avoid them
My husband & are customers of the Rite Aid store in Metamora, MI. Each year, when we vacation in the Florida Keys, specifically, in Marathon, Fl, we use a Walgreen's store & pharmacy, as there is no Rite Aid store in our vicinity.
About 3 mos. ago, in Marathon my husband & I each received something unexpected and greatly welcomed & appreciated from our Rite Aid pharmacy back home in Metamora, MI ; Two Free $25 Gift Cards each, to be used when transferring prescriptions from another Pharmacy ! Such a remarkably generous and impressive company incentive, we thought, having enjoyed the competent, helpful and friendly service of our pharmacy & store in Metamora for many years ! In fact, receiving our gift certificates quickly reminded us, that last year, we had received similar gift certificates from Rite Aid that each of us enjoyed redeeming when we returned from Fl to MI. Naturally, we fully expected to redeem our gift certificates once again upon our return in April, and, as human nature would have it, each had our choices made on how we would use the 'gifts '.
How very disappointing today, when my husband, after cheerfully leaving for Rite Aid, gift certificate in hand to fill his prescriptions, returned with the very disappointing news that the 'fine print' on the 'Free $25 Gift Card' form denied us validity of the 'gifts'.
Our point here has nothing to do with the consistently excellent service we receive from our Pharmacy at Rite Aid here in Metamora. In fact we consider it exemplary and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Our point is that we should never have received the Gift Card vouchers in the first place ! I'm assuming the intent of this Rite Aid policy is to impress, recruit and reward customers. And I'm assuming that your company would be interested and respectful of feedback from those you seek to serve and benefit. If Rite Aid's advertising and technological abilities can submit these types of incentives to customers and/or prospective customers, surely these means are sophisticated enough to delete those of us who must be somewhere documented as having "previously filled" prescriptions with Rite Aid ! Surely you would want to know that your efforts are achieving, in cases like ours, the opposite: disappointing, annoying, and basically negative effects !
My husband and I have taken the time to write this review to you because we hope that our disppointment, our 'let- down', matters. And also, that under the circumstances described above, you might understand our disappointment and assume that there are others, like us, who have experienced the same.
We are hopeful that you will find basis and motivation to avoid this type of negative impact on individuals and families you seek to serve, in the future.

Well if you read the fine print on the Transfer coupon, you will see that only certain people are eligible to receive the coupon. Those with State/Federal funded insurance are ineligible. Also note, you are only allowed to receive up to 2 coupons within a 6 month period and also that these gift cards are not to be used to pay for any prescription medication or tobacco products, alcohol etc etc. The cash register now has a program of those who keep track of those who utilize these coupons. I'm pretty sure you're a very decent couple with good intentions, but there are many many ### out there, who will try their best to abuse this coupon. Where I work, they're mostly indian, and the poor uneducated on state sponsored healthcare/insurance. Most technicians won't tell you the caveats because either they themselves don't know or could care less, but if you have coupon in hand, you should always read the fine print.

One More Thing . I used to to rite aid for 3 years Until Wall greens came to town . Then i saw it was taking hours to fill a prescription there . I get this flyer in the mail to PLEASE COME BACK to Rite-Aid and we will give you 75 dollars in gift cards and a 15 minute fill or we will give you a 5 dollars gift card . Well i took them up on it and the very first prescription i was met by a rude little girl who said its at the pharmacists descrition(not in spell check) and the deal wont last long . BS!
Well i can tell you that the Guaranteed 15 minuit perscription or you get 5 dollar gift card is a FRAUD for sure . most every time i go there they say it will be 30 minuits to an hour and sometime they say we are too busy, come back tomorrow and NO 5 DOLLAR GIFT CARD!

The store hours for the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Kiefer Blvd. are misleading. The sign outside the door to the store reads Mon-Fri 8am - 10pm. So are they closed on the weekends? NO! You have to go to the other side of the front door to see that they close on the weekends at 6pm. Totally confusing and misleading. Who would think that a store within a store would have TWO signs with their hours on them? Not me! PLUS: I called their 24-hour answering recording and it says the closing time is 10pm. Yes, I take medication for my blood pressure, but that didn't happen to be the prescription I was out of. I've been a good customer of theirs for years, but I'm done with them.

The pharm tech environment is terrible. Pharmacist manager sits around reading magazines and doing scratch offs until shes absolutely needed to Q@A. They hire drug addict techs(before they started the drug testing) who rob them blind and the clueless pharmacist manager could care less. They treat the ones with integrity like crap until the point of resignation. This is the worse company I've ever ever worked for not to mention the worst paying job.

I went to the pharmacy to pick up a perscription that I had called in 2 days prior. When I got home with it, I noticed that it was my mothers. Now luckily I have a car to go back to the store, but after working 12 hours, you shouldn't have to do that. I called the pharmacy about why I was given the wrong one, the girl never apologized once and kept saying my prescription was never placed, so basically she is implying that I'm lying. Luckily they are only allergy pills, but what if they weren't and I really needed them, I wouldn't been out-of-luck. I own a restaurant and I know how customers should be treated, I only expect the same in return. What if my mother's RX went into someone else's hands, it could've been alot worse. I just hope someone does do something about Rote-Aid pharmacies, because they just lost about 6 customers, from my word-of-mouth, so now Walgreens is my new pharmacy.

Phoenix, a pharmacist can't give you medication without a perscription under any circumstances! It's ILLEGAL. And really kinda stupid of you to ask. If you felt your life was in danger, you should have called an ambulance.
I had a situation with Rite Aid Pharmacy in Santa Clara, CA, were I was a customer of the pharmacy. I have been a customer at least a year with Rite Aid, and I thought they knew me. I am a type one diabetic insulin dependent and on an insulin pump. I lost a bottle of insulin, so I thought I have gotten the insulin at Rite Aid before which was about 4 months ago, so I thought I would get a bottle from Rite Aid. They told me that they needed to get a re-fill from the doctor and I said find, but could the give me the bottle anyway since this was an emergency. Due to me misplacing my pervious bottle. I was told by the pharmacist that she would not give me the bottle at all even if I was out of insulin. Then I was told by her why did I wait so long, I told her and yes I was extremely angry that I misplaced my bottle and I was sorry but it was an emergency. She was telling I needed to call the doctor’s office and have them call. I told her but you’re the pharmacist and you know my history. She still refused to help me. I am also on a dexcom meter which register my blood sugar 24/7, and my blood sugar at that point was over 250. I keep my sugars between 70 and 140. As a pharmacist she does know that damage can occur to my body with high blood sugars and she also knows that diabetics need insulin to live. Believe me I know that it’s my responsilibty to take care of myself and sometimes accidents happen that is out of one’s control. In the past I have worked with other pharmacy’s for example when I didn’t know that I was on my last bottle and they needed to call the doctor for a re-fill on my prescription. They pharmacist would call the doctors for the approval and sell me the bottle of insulin, and I would go on my way. I just can’t understand why Rite Aid could do the same. They know I am diabetic and insulin dependent, I am a pervious customer, I have had refills at the pharmacy before. So with that said why wouldn’t they sell me the bottle and let go on my way and use the insulin that I need to bring my sugar back to control. I am sure they would have gotten the approval, because I talked to my doctor’s office and they were going to call it in, but thank GOD my son found my insulin, and he dropped it off to me at work. I told the doctor’s office don’t call it in. I will never do business with Rite Aid ever again, I will not even shop there as a customer anymore. When I asked the store manager for help he said that he didn’t care about my situation and ignored my situation, then he said that he understood, I told him I don’t think so, unless you are in the persons shoes who has the medical condition. He was just as bad as the Pharmacist. I feel the public should be made aware of how Rite Aid treats Diabetics, as far as I am concerned she was playing with my life as a person and a diabetic, thank God I am not a heart patient, would I have to wait for nitroglycerin if I was having a heart attack? Again the point is I had re-fills at this store for at least a year, they know I am diabetic, they know I am on an insulin pump, so why would they not take care of someone who is in an emergency situation. I sure hope nothing happens in their life where they are held, and told no you can’t have it, when they already know that the doctor’s office will approve the re-fill. In a diabetics life insulin is the key to survival, it’s like when one breaths, you need it to stay alive. It goes the same for the insulin, without it I could die, my blood sugar will raise and I could go into a coma and die. So please, please let other Diabetic know about what Rite Aid does to their Diabetic Patients. Below is the address of the store where this happen.

Funny how the two of you who are complaining about non-English-speaking illegal immigrants are both unable to write coherently.
Also, how do you know these people are illegal immigrants? Did you ask to see their papers? Are you from the INS? I think you're just upset because Rite Aid hires brown people, and that conflicts with your twisted racist worldview. You say that these people aren't Americans - again, how do you know? Is it because they aren't white?
This is true that alot of people do not have legal residence card but they are working in RITE AID. It should be ruled that every employee has to be legal papers. Many illegal people are hiered by Rite Aid. this unfair for the legal people they do not get job. Authority should check about illegal matters and need to maintain legally job rules. They don't hire legal people. I think this company may be illegal, that's why they do illegal behaved.
