Terrible Experience with Safeco Insurance: Paid in Full, Cancelled, No Refund, and No Help with Claim
I had a really bad experience with Safeco Insurance. They made me pay for a policy in full and then cancelled it just a week later. I was so upset because I couldn't get my money back. And if you think that's bad, wait until you hear about what happened when I had a claim on my car. They didn't give me anything! It was like they didn't care about me at all. I felt like they were just trying to rip me off. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
Safeco Insurance Adds Mystery People to My Policy Without My Consent
I've been with Safeco Auto and Home Insurance for a whopping 20 years, but let me tell you, I'm not too happy with them right now. I received a notice in the mail the other day saying that they were going to add two people to my policies unless I told them not to. What the heck? I'm single and live alone, so who are these two people they're talking about?
I called up Safeco and got connected to one of their call center folks. A young lady told me that they had investigated me and found two people living with me. I was flabbergasted! I've been living in my home in Alaska for almost a year now, and I have a lease that only has my name on it. No one else lives here with me. I told this woman to take those people off my policy immediately, but she just gave me some lame excuse.
I feel like my privacy has been invaded, and to make matters worse, Safeco hires college students to man their call centers. Who knows what kind of shenanigans they're up to? I sent their paperwork back with a big fat NO on it, and I also sent them an email expressing my displeasure. On top of that, I filed a complaint with the BBB against Safeco.
Honestly, after 20 years of being with them, I'm seriously considering switching companies. This is just unacceptable.
Safeco Insurance Review: The Absolute Worst Company I've Ever Dealt With in My Entire Life
I've been driving for a long time, 32 years to be exact. I used to have State Farm insurance, but they dropped my home insurance here in Florida. So, I decided to switch to Safeco Insurance. Boy, was that a BIG MISTAKE! Safeco is the absolute WORST company I have ever dealt with in my entire life. My adjuster's name is Candace, and I have left her 6 messages over one and a half weeks. Her voicemail says she will return calls as they are received and try to return them within 24 hours. But guess what? I haven't received a single call back from her - ZERO. Her boss, Leon Havenga, isn't any better. I left him 2 messages in the last 24 hours, and still nothing - ZERO.
My car was struck by lightning 2 weeks ago tomorrow, and nothing has been done except finally, an assessment of the damage yesterday, a week and a half later. And the only way I know ANY OF THIS is because I have been calling Safeco myself daily to check. Customer service is NON-EXISTENT with this company. I mean, all it would have taken is for someone to just call me back and give me some information. But I guess that's too much to ask of Candace or Leon.
If you're thinking of getting insurance from Safeco, RUN RUN RUN away from them. They are not worth your time or money. I learned my lesson the hard way.
Safeco Insurance: A Joke of a Home Insurance Provider
I recently had the pleasure (or should I say displeasure) of using Safeco Insurance for both my vehicle and home insurance needs. While I had no issues with my vehicle insurance, my experience with their home insurance was nothing short of a joke.
You see, I have an escrow account attached to my mortgage, which my mortgage company pays every year. The first year went off without a hitch, but this year was a different story. My mortgage company sent out a bulk check on time, but 30 days later it was refunded because Safeco didn't know what to do with it. I mean, seriously? How can a company not know what to do with a check?
A second check was sent out just two days after receiving the first one back, but once again it was returned to my mortgage company. This time, Safeco's excuse was that my mortgage company had put a stop payment on the check. I mean, come on, does that even make sense to anyone?
I decided to take matters into my own hands and called my mortgage company. They advised me to pay the Safeco bill and they would reimburse me out of my escrow account. So, I did just that. But about five days later, I received a refund check from Safeco stating that my account was overpaid. Their representative told me that my mortgage company had paid the bill, but I knew that was bull$#*! I did not have that much money in my escrow for them to reimburse me and pay Safeco.
To make matters worse, just two days after receiving the refund check, I received a letter from Safeco stating that my account was past due. What a joke! It was clear to me that they didn't know what each department had done or said.
Needless to say, I found insurance elsewhere and would advise everyone out there to stay as far away from Safeco as possible. Their lack of organization and communication is simply unacceptable.
Disappointing Experience with Safeco Insurance: Overpriced and Unprofessional
Safeco Insurance is a company that has left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I found their prices to be overpriced and their professionalism to be lacking. When my husband sold his 2009 truck with 260k miles and replaced it with a 2018 truck with only 60k miles, we expected our monthly insurance to decrease. However, Safeco Insurance actually increased our monthly payment by $50. This was surprising and disappointing, as we thought that a more reliable vehicle would result in a lower insurance cost.
Another issue I had with Safeco Insurance was their customer service. It was incredibly difficult to get ahold of someone to speak to, and when I did, I had to wait for crazy wait times of 30+ minutes to talk to a representative. This was frustrating and time-consuming, and it made me feel like my concerns were not being taken seriously.
When I decided to switch insurance companies and officially changed on July 3, 2021, I was charged another monthly fee from Safeco on July 16, 2021. When I reached out to get my refund, the service agent told me that there was some sort of hold on my account. I was unsure what this hold was for, but the agent said that I could get it "processed faster" if I provided a picture of my bank statement. I provided a picture of the deducted amount from their company of $189.66 from my checking account, but I blanked out other personal information such as my checking bank balance and other transactions that I have made. However, Safeco Insurance wanted the balance of my checking account to "show that the money they took was deducted from my account". I found this request to be absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. It is none of anyone's business except me and my banks! Shame on you Safeco! SHAME SHAME! I will forever tell people to stay away from your business because this is not how you do business with people!
