Scentbird Review: Great Idea, Poor Execution - Slow Shipping, Limited Selection, and Hit-or-Miss Customer Service
My experience with Scentbird has been a mixed bag. While I love the idea of being able to try out different fragrances every month without committing to a full-sized bottle, the execution falls short in several areas.
Firstly, the shipping process is painfully slow. It takes a long time for them to even process the order after charging you, and then the actual shipping can take even longer with multiple delays and redirects. It can take almost a month just to receive your shipment. Not to mention that the packaging is quite shoddy.
Secondly, the customer service is hit or miss. Sometimes you'll get someone who is genuinely helpful, but more often than not, you'll receive scripted excuses that don't actually resolve the issue. This can be a frustrating experience.
The selection of fragrances offered by Scentbird is also quite limited. Despite claiming to have over 400,000 choices, I have yet to find many well-known or popular scents/lines. Additionally, their selection doesn't seem to change even if I update my scent profile or search for different categories. Most of the fragrances they do have I wouldn't buy if I smelled them in a shop, and they add a 30% "premium" upcharge for the better scents, even if you have their most expensive subscription.
Furthermore, they only give you one free case and then charge extra for additional cases, regardless of your subscription level or frequency of shipments. This seems like a missed opportunity to encourage loyalty and brand exposure.
I have placed additional orders between my monthly shipments in search of fragrances I like, but most of the newer lines they offer don't have any reviews and often smell cheap or overly fruity. There are never any promos that interest me, and the inventory can be repetitive with several offerings in the same category.
Additionally, I find the scent profiles limiting and unreliable when reviewing fragrances. The categories don't always accurately represent the scent, and the audience and their reviews appear to be generally very young and unsophisticated.

I have not received a single item from Scentbird in almost a year, yet my debit card is still charged for these items.
I have changed my address, payment method, paused, and even canceled my orders, but none of it has made any difference in the delivery of my products or my billing. I have even received an email from Scentbird stating that there was a problem delivering my order and advising me to check my shipping information, but I have not received any orders or have had any luck in resolving my issues.
In summary, my experience with Scentbird has been disappointing and frustrating, and I would not recommend their service to anyone. I am disappointed that a company that I initially believed had great potential has let me down in such a significant way.

That being said, Scentbird frequently features new and innovative brands that eventually become popular and well-known, so it's always exciting to see what they'll come up with next. They truly have everything under the sun when it comes to perfume brands, and I appreciate the fact that I can avoid making a large purchase on a scent that may not be for me.
One of the things that I really love about Scentbird is that not only do you get to try out a scent each month and review it, but you also have the opportunity to purchase the full-size version of any scent you fall in love with. The program also offers the option to buy your entire queue at a 20% discount rate, which I think is a great deal.
If fragrance is not your thing, Scentbird also features makeup, vitamins, and other lifestyle products, which I think is a great way to mix things up. Their packaging is always great, and I've never had an issue with anything arriving broken.
However, lately I've noticed some issues with the program. For example, one of my items was missing from my order last month, and I had to take a photo of the packaging to prove that it was actually missing. Additionally, some of the products that I added to my lineup for this month were removed without explanation, which I found to be frustrating. Nevertheless, customer service was responsive and helpful, and I'm hoping that these issues will be resolved soon.
