I hope you are fine.
Scribd took money from my credit card for 3 months (September, October, November 2022) even though I did not switch from the trial version to the paid account. And frankly I don't use their platform.
This is not fair business! This is a very cheap way to make money. There are others on the Internet who claim the same for this company. Someone has to stop them. I even had to cancel my credit card to get rid of them.
Please help me get my money back.

However, nice words and kind & professional approach, referring to "refund policies" is useless for me, and in fact, very frustrating. So I'm still behind my personal expression above - this is not a fair way to do a business.

Today, November 30, 2022, I looked at my checking account and noticed a payment I didn't recognize. A $10.69 USD charge from "Scribd Inc [protected] CA" on Nov. 20th, 2022.
I went through my billing statements, and I have been billed monthly starting May 20th 2022 for a total of 6 charges. This adds up to $64.14 CAD.
I never subscribed to this service. I checked all my regular email addresses and I have never received any mail from them. Before today I had never even heard of Scribd.
The only way to get some attention from your company was to say I would take this month's charges off which was $10.69 and they said they would give back $9.99.
I want a full refund of all charges.
I can provide statements for every affected month. I would contact Scribd directly, but I their Contact Us page did not take my questions.
Desired outcome: They said they are sending $9.99 to my account. This means the rest would be $54.15. I want no more charges from them. I want my information out of their hands.

Cancelling subscription
I requested to cancel my subscription 3 months ago, and then realized I kept being charged this whole time.
When trying to cancel again, I found the website (only place to unsubscribe from) not working at all, which has stayed so for the past two weeks.
So now I have the fourth unwanted payment coming in, and apparently o don't have any other way to avoid it other than brute bank force, which is absolutely ridiculous...
I tried to write a mail to the customer support (which they did NOT make easy to find contacts for), now i'm curious to see if I'm still going to keep being charged.
P.s. It didn't take long to find many complaints online from people having the same issues, so it seems just like this is the company's way of operating.

Scribd has to have one of the worst customer support experiences out there. For over a year I have been requesting a solve to a problem regarding their free perks (In this case a complimentary Curiosity Stream subscription I've still yet to gain access to). I am unable to change our profile name, account password, or any other details including not having my childs profile public because it wants an email verification. When we follow through as prompted it enters this infuriating loop of verifications and never actually allows changes to be made. I There are consistent issues with being unable to gain access to and or change account information and absolutely no helpful customer service agents. They say no problem just do x, y, z but it never actually works. I am appalled, frustrated and thinking it's time to switch to a different audiobook platform who actually care about their customers.

Unauthorized charges on my credit card
I never signed up for this service - I don’t even know what it is they do. I don’t know how they got my credit card and I’ve never received anything from them. I have statements to verify this. I can’t login because I never signed up to begin with, so how exactly can I cancel? I think I should get a refund since I’ve paid for many months now. Super unhappy about this and fully intend to tell people this company acquires credit card numbers without authorization and begins charging people without their knowledge.

I recently noticed a charge on my bank account. When looking into it, I found out your company is charging me. This is really unacceptable.

Checking my Scribd account, there is no information about the payment method. How did you get my credit card information? This is really unethical practice.

I recently noticed a reoccurring charge on my bank account that went unnoticed for just shy of a year. When looking into it gas come to my attention that although my membership was cancelled after the trial this company has been charging my account.. sometimes 2-3x month- totaling $257.74 in unauthorized fraudulent charges! BAD BUSINESS at its finest! I will be persistently perusing a complete refund and continue to report them until resolved to full satisfaction!

I cancelled my trial plan weeks ago, now I have unauthorized charges!
I signed up for a free trial plan in August and cancelled it only a week or so after signing up. Now I have charges on my credit card and when I went back to my account on Scribd, it shows an active plan. When trying to cancel once again, I see the dark web pattern in use here. After selecting to cancel your plan, it sends you to a page where it says how many days left you have on your plan and then shows rows of content on the site.
Many are mislead to believe that their account had been, indeed, cancelled and the number of days being an indicator of how many days were left in their plan before the plan is officially cancelled. Yet, unfortunately, to actually cancel the service, you must scroll past all of this to the bottom of the page to keep finding the cancellation buttons. I literally work in tech and missed this. This is a highly unethical business practice. Please refund my money immediately!

This is to inform that scribd has charged their membership fee from me even after I have cancelled their membership. This is so unfair since they have charged from me for about six consecutive months without my consent. I recognised this only after checking my bank account. I am being charged 23 Ron every month, I don't know what is being charged from my credit card. Your company has been charging my debit card with Standard Chartered. Please. Please note that I never subscribed to any of Scribd services, was never registered with your company. These your charges were un-authorized.

They never sent notification of my free trial period about to end. When I tried to login to end my subscription — I could not get in. Scribd support never replies to emails for support. When they billed my PayPal account, I was furious. I started a dispute with the charge at PayPal. PayPal denied my dispute after whatever Scribd told them. Scribd never answered any of many emails about this. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! Thankfully, I was able to end my subscription via PayPal. You have been warned.

Subscription being chareged even after pause and cancelation of the same
I have canceled my subscription but I am still being charged. The last charge was made on 17.07.2022. I didn't receive an email with the order number, this is also not the first time this has happened. This also happened when I paused my membership in September 2021.
I don't have an email from you with the receipt confirmation of any kind, just a charge to my account. I have also checked my other accounts and emails, and I don't have any active subscriptions on any of them. The same goes for my google pay.
The following has happened on several occasions between November 2021 and February 2022 when my subscription was paused. I only got the receipts for the charges made through my Paypal account, but not through my debit card account. This is basically theft.

Four months ago I registered and subscribed to scribd for a free trial, I read four free documents and canceled my subscription after 22 days. Today (24.6.2022. EU) my bank called me and said that your company from the USA has unauthorisedly charged me a sum of 65,32 kunas or 8,99 USD, I was in complete shock to find out that this was not the first time but the fourth. The bank sent me via mobile app the charges as you can see in the photo. I went on my page and saw that the subscription was not cancelled but, I canceled it four months ago, I canceled it again today, refreshed the page, logged out, and it is still not cancelled. I waited for a few hours and it finally cancelled. It is not my fault, it is your system unfortunately. I request a full refund, I am a student and I truly want to use your services again next year but I am mortified by the fact that you charged me without any notice.

I too have received unauthorized charges by Scribd. Over the past 30-days, I have been charged four times in spite of canceling the subscription within 8-days of the "30-Day Free Trial." I reported the unauthorized charges to both Scribd (via email & website w/attachments) and my financial institution last week, and as a consolation prize, Scribd charged me for the fourth time on 16 July.
I would like all charges reversed and refunded.
