Shopper Discounts and Rewards Unauthorized charges to debit card

My husband had asked me about a charge on our bank statement from Shopper Discounts. I didn't know anything about it. We called the 800 number and canceled our membership (which we had never signed up for). I had looked up this company and it goes by different names (Webloyalty, ReservationRewards, BuyersInsurance, Travelvaluesplus, Walletshield, and Completesavings). This is NOT a BBB accredited company. Apparently they make their money by pop-up windows that appear after making purchases online and they charge your debit card $12.00. Pretty much, they're stealing money from your bank account. If you see any pop-up windows using any of the names above, STAY AWAY! THEY ARE THIEVES!

If this has happened to you, here is a link from the BBB with contact information on this company.

I got charged by this shopper discount when I ordered photo print outs. I realised it immediatly and I called the agency within a few minutes to cancel it. which they did on the telephone. BUT in reality, they continued to charge me for next 6 months. I was not careful enough to look at my credit card charge, when I realised, I called them to cancel immediatly.

I bought a part from JC Whitney on line and some how I started receiving a charge for $12.00 per month, the card I used gets paid out of my Morgan Stanley account I never noticed the charge for 18 months. I called the company and all they would credit me was 4 months.
I called JC Whitney about this and all they would comit is that they no longer use them.

my wife ordered tickets through FANDANGO and clicked the little box for $10.00 off of our next purchace...the next month we started getting charges from :SHOPPER DISCOUNTS [protected] and from RESERVATION REWARDS [protected]...i let it slide for a few months because i didn't know what they were for(me bad)...i called up the discounts one today and they (SUPERVISOR MIKE ) told me that BOTH would be cancelled and a refund issued...
going to the fandango site to complain to them i found # 41 on their F.A.Q. page saying they're not operating this scam and they're not making us sign up for it...
that means just use the basic checkout for any web purchaces and DON'T click any extra boxes that promice anything...if you can't complete your purchace that way you didn't need to buy from them anyway(see me shaking my finger at my wife...LOL)

I am in Agreement with Shopper Discounts fraud $12 charge! If they turn you down on a refund, keep pushing! First she said she can only do one month refund, then as I mentioned BBB and fraud, she changed it to up to 6 months she can retro pay. She couldn't word the popup box exactly, proving that the offer is purposefully scamful. This is ridiculous attempt to scam people - but I'm figuring my husband clicked the $10 coupon offer. Be careful what you click!

Shopper Discounts.com is running one of the biggest debit and credit card scams on the internet. Recently my daughter went off to college. As a way to help her out we are providing additional funds for her and monitoring her bank account of any transactions. Recently while my wife was reviewing her account on-line she saw a charge to her debit card of $12.00. This same charge was occurring per month for the last several months to a company called Shopper Discounts.com. After looking in to why she was charged this fee, a representative of Shopper Discounts.com informed me that we have been charged $12.00 per month since February of 2017 when my daughter made a purchase with her debit card on-line from Best Buy. When she made the on-line purchase she was asked if she wanted a 10.00 rebate on the purchase that she had selected. She selected yes and when she did she was automatically signed up for a monthly Shopper Discounts membership at a cost of $12.00 per month without her authorization or knowledge. She has paid a total of 252.00 in membership fees to this company without knowing. I called and cancelled the membership and I am trying to get the money refunded. Beware of this company. It is one of the biggest debit card scams on the internet.

Bought flight from easyjet in UK who offered me a future discount which I accepted - however what really happened was easyJet sent my credit card details to a discount club. Shopper Discounts then sent junk like email that was filtered by my email system. A couple of months later they billed my credit card £8 and have done so every month to be a member of a club I never wanted to join.

I started receiving charges from Shopper Discounts on my son's college Citi card after he made a purchase online. He did not sign up for this awards program but I began seeing a $12.00 charge each month. After calling and complaining about the charge I was told the membership would end. It was
only after I told the representative that I was going to file a complaint with the BBB that I was told that all charges would be refunded. The representative did not put up much of a fight so I guess they have been told to refund completely when challenged. That pretty much convinces me that this is a scam.

I made a small purchase from BUY.com in April. Today (6/26) I just noticed a $12.00 charge on my debit card from Shopper Discount with a telephone number. Upon investigating further, there was also a $12.00 charge in May. I called the number and was assured both charges would be credited to my account. I was told I signed up when I made a purchase through BUY.com, which I do not remember doing and would never do. My debit card number used for the BUY.com purchase was given to Shopper Discounts without my permission. They did not send me anything in the mail, no one called me to verify this charge, and when I looked at my email account, there were some spammy-looking emails from they I had deleted, which after opening and reading never mentioned a $12.00 charge, just the benefits of Shopper Discount. This is outrageous. This company is ripping people off every day. I'm glad I caught them so soon, it appears they have been charging some people for years without their knowledge. They need to be reported, and I'm doing just that.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards unauthorised payments to shopper discount

I was shocked to discover that Shopperdiscount.co.uk had taken 5 monthly payments of £10 from my credit card since I made a holiday booking on Expedia in may. I have spoken to mastercard who say that there have been a lot of complaints in regards this company. I also conmtacted the company's customer service deptartment who claimed that i'd sign up for their 30 day trial as part of the booking process via expedia, which I clearly didn't. I have explicitly informed them that I had not signed up for any membership that would cost me £10 a month for a service I didn't require, in fact I still have no idea what service they do provide. I have also emailed custermer services demanding a refund else this will go to trading standards, FSA, BBC Watchdog and the national press

To customer services,
I have been appalled to discover that since arranging a holiday via Expedia in may, you have been taking £10 a month from my credit card. This has been completely unauthorised as I have no interest in your services.
I insist you immediately refund to me the total of £60 (£10 a month and twice in September) which you have taken from my MasterCard over a period of 5 months since I used Expedia to buy part of a holiday at the end of May, 2009, And cancel my account with you, to stop you from taking any more unauthorised funds from my account in the future. Apparently my membership number is xxxxxxxx. As you clearly have all my personal and master card account details you should have no difficulty in immediately effecting a refund.

If I do not receive immediate notification that this amount will be refunded I will be contacting the national newspapers, BBC watchdog and consumer affairs authorities (i.e. financial Ombudsman, FSA, Trading Standards and the Police, as I note from a considerable number of internet blog sites that this is something many others have complained of.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards $12 charge

I got charged $12 since MAY! Way back when i ordered a set of prints to hang in my house...and then this coupon came up for me to save $10 off my next purchace. Ya, that was a scam. Once i clicked it, it took my credit card information and started to charge me $12 a month until i JUST noticed today! 6 months later! OMG i am so mad. I called the number [protected] and told the customer service rep straight away that i never agreed to get this subscription and i know its a scam. I can see online that others have complained of this charge and i want a full refund. The guy didnt hesitate. He was calm and took my info, was able to pull up my account and boom. The next thing i know he says he will credit me $72. It will take up to 3 days to show on my credit card, but its going back on there. I was mad as hell people!

i want you all to watch your card and watch what you click when you are on website. Do not EVER click on a coupon for $10 off any site. I also noticed those coupons pop up on dominos.com and pizzahut.com...

never ever click them. This shoppersdiscount company takes your credit card number and starts charging away. You may not realize until way later that its on there. Because if you are like me, you just make the minimal payment and think nothing of the extra charge b.c your card is close to maxed out as it is so you think nothing of it. Am i right? well just BEWARE.

I will contact the BBB and let them know. No way im not. They are going to be reported. Those SOB's will pay for charging me. Half the time my card got denied and i thought "HUH?" for going to buy something. Its because of this extra $12 charge that i had no idea was going on!

BEWARE! Call that number: [protected] right away and they will refund you the money. Just do it. At least you will get your money back...

Shopper Discounts and Rewards $12.00 monthly charges

I just noticed a $12.00 charge on my AMEX account, only to realize I'd been charged that amount for the last 4 months from Shoppersdiscount.com. I quickly came onto this website and realized the difficulty others are having contacting this company. Well, here's a treat for you all! As I scanned my online statement, the phone number for Shoppersdiscount.com was included with the charge! So, here you all go...

[protected]

After I called them to get to the bottom of this scam, I learned that this charge was tied to a purchase I had made on Buy.com in July 2009. Apparently what must have happened is during the checkout process I may have either "clicked" or "not clicked" a certain box that would authorize them to charge this fee on my account. SO, A WARNING TO ALL, MAKE SURE YOU READ THROUGH ALL OF THE FINE PRINT BEFORE YOUR ONLINE PURCHASE!

Amex graciously took care of the situation. I'm filing a complaint against this company and am debating about doing the same with Buy.com. I think it's safe to say I will not shop at Buy.com again though... Shame on them for allowing such a deceitful scam to occur!

Shopper Discounts and Rewards unauthorised credit card payment

This company took two monthly amounts of £10 from my credit card account before I noticed. This was completely unauthorised and probably happened after I booked a hotel through e-bookers. I can only vaguely remember that after booking a pop up appeared offering £15 cash back for joining shoppersdiscount.co.uk. At no stage did they indicate that membership cost £10 per month. I logged into this so called account today and yes there is a £15 'cash back' voucher but it has to be used before 29/11/09 and only if I book another thing through ebookers. This is a total scam and people should be made aware of this company's tactics. I phoned my credit company and they had clearly heard of shoppersdiscount as the operator was able to give me their phone number [protected] and I duly cancelled any further payments. I have received a cancellation number and will keep a close eye on my account in future. I don't hold out much hope of regaining my £20 as it was probably all in some minute print.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards Debit card scam

This Shoppers Discounts company pops up after you have made online purchases and makes free offers that if you agree to automatically charges your debit card. Art.com and Orbitz are two of the gateway websites that Shoppers Discounts was allowed to charge people through. It was easy to cancel the 'membership' but their big ploy is keeping the amount charged small enough so that you never notice it.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards hosting a scam site, shopper discounts and complete savings

I went to Pizza Hut website to order Pizza and somewhere in the process I got a popup and thought I had said NO.. but I guess no is yes. I received 2 charges on my credit card.. Shopper Discount and Complete Savings (both from the same company). When I saw the bogus charges come up on my bank account I called the number given at this site [protected] and demanded them to reverse both charges. If you get nailed.. be sure to tell the you want BOTH cancelled and a refund. They tried to tell me they would cancel my "membership" but I could do whatever for the next month. So not gonna happen. I made sure I told them I want my money back immediately and made sure it was for both. I then called my bank to let them know what had transpired. AND GUESS WHAT! I was told by my bank that Papa John's does the same thing. BEWARE of ordering pizza online.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards fraudulant credit card charges

In June I purchased items from swimsutsforall.com. The charge appeared on my credit card on 6/15/09. In July I was hospitalized so my brother handled my bills for me. When my August credit card statement arrived I noticed a charge for $12 from ‘SHOPPER DISCOUNTS”. I knew that I had not purchased anything from this company. I could not figure out how they had gotten my credit card information. I looked up my July statement and found that there had been a $12 charge from "SHOPPER DISCOUNTS" in July as well as August.

I immediately called the 800 number that appeared on the credit card statement. They had an option on the menu for people who want to cancel unwanted subscriptions. This indicated to me that they have a large volume of callers who want to cancel their subscriptions.

I waited to talk to a customer service representative because I wanted to know how they got my credit card information. The woman I spoke with was not the least bit surprised that I had no idea what this repeated $12 charge was for. When I told her that I wanted the $24 refunded she did so without asking a question. This indicates to me that “SHOPPERS DISCOUNTS” is aware that customers are being tricked into signing up for their program. When I inquired how they got my credit card number I was told that at the time I purchased the items from www.swimsuitsforall.com I was aked if I would like a coupon for $10 off of my next purchase. When I checked “yes” my credit card information was automatically sent to “shoppers discounts”. This is an outrageous practice.

I am very careful about giving out my credit card information yet I was duped into signing up for this fraudulent discount. Thankfully, I go over my credit card statements to make sure all charges are legitimate so I caught the fraudulent charges. I know that there are many people who never check their statements because their bills are paid automatically. I called my friend to warn her about this scam because I know that she shops online and doesn’t always check her statements. I urged her to go over her credit card statements and sure enough, she had several charges from “Shoppers Discounts”.

I decided to google the name “Shoppers Discounts” so that I could send a written complaint. I was stunned to see how many people have been tricked into signing up for this “service”. The scammers seems to operate under several names. I assume that people have not lodged complaints to the BBB because “shopper's discounts” refunds their money without asking questions.

Sincerely,
Janine Sedore

I have the same thing for last one year they have been charging $ 12 every month for more than one year.I called up the Credit card company they didn't do anything. So I called them up fraud shoppers discount 1-800 no they revered six months @ $12.And asked me to fill out a form which they send me online to claim the other six months amounts.
My question is should I do that to claim the rest by filling up the form?

Please let me know.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards Unathourised Monthly Deduction of £8

And i thought it was just me! No idea where this company got my bank details but i too have been leaking £8 a month to a company called Shopperdiscounts.co.uk for the last year. I dont believe i have yet received any such discounts either.

Has anyone out there with similar experience successfully managed to stop this payment coming out of their bank account and / or receive a refund from the company?

I'd be glad to learn of any recent experiences. Thanks.

Like you I was 'surprised' to find a £10 debit on my account. BUT I went to their web site, retreived my password and found that I was enrolled in April. No idea how! BUT there is a customer service page that offers a termination of agreement either by free phone call or a proforma email. I did the latter and received an instant response with a formal cancellation of the agreement.

There was optional feedback and I have asked who or how it was that they got hold of my BANK details. So I wait in hope. These days I don't suppose my bank will be much help either!

I too have been involved without my direct knowledge after clicking through from a ten pound cash back via Easy Jet page ... have managed to leak 14 payments of £8
Spoke to the company just this minute tel : [protected]
Have requested a full refund

The operator has immediately agreed to pay back the last 3 but she will e mail me a claim for allowing me to follow up on the reamining refund I require

Reputable companies really need to stay away from allowing organisations like this to make offers on their pages in my instance I blame Easy Jet for allowing me to be open to this horrible practise

Shopper Discounts and Rewards HERES THE FORM TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SETTLEMENT

I just found out I had been scammed just like the rest of you below. SO, I did some research. Turns out the company (Webloyalty.com, Inc.) that provides the 'rewards programs' (shoppersdiscountsandrewards.com, etc) has been recently engaged in litigation for consumer fraud. There is a pending settlement and if you were one of the many that have been scammed by this company you can fill out a simple form to participate in the settlement. Once the settlement has come to fruition, you will receive a check in the mail! Lets get this damn company for all they are worth!

Shopper Discounts and Rewards unauthorised payments

I have had to date 11 unauthorised payments taken from my credit card at £8.00 a time. I have tried to contact the telephone number provided by the company. However after the initial introduction the line goes dead. The email system is much the same.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards Unauthorised £8 per month charge on John Lewis Credit Card

When paying my John Lewis Card Bill, I noticed an £8 charge from Shopperdiscount.co.uk that I did not recognise. I googled Shoppersdiscount.co.uk and found this went to this website top discover I am yet another Easyjet customer that has been scammed into this £8 charge. They explained how this had happened whenthey were offering a £10 money off voucher off future Easyjet bookings - never received - and that I had clicked to accept this offer. They also say that there was reference to Terms & Conditions for this offer. I do not recollect clicking on any offer that was based on paying £8 per month to get a £10 off voucher.

I believe all credit card companies should be asked to stop payments to Shoppersdiscount without full authority from the credit card customer. Tjis should stop this fraud on other people.

Its a scam. Easyjet are paid commission by Shoppersdiscount for allowing them to use their site to get your interest. No one expects to have money debited from their account unless they give over their bank details but by ticking a box and giving shoppersdiscount.co.uk your email address you are entering into an agreement for the host site to pass your bank details to Shoppersdiscount.co.uk. I have been trying for 4 months to get the debits stopped. Barclays bank have been useless. Eventually I got to speak to someone at shoppersdiscount who has cancelled the debits and refunded me previous payments. In my opinion everyone who istaken in by this should complain in the strongest terms to those who allowed Shoppersdiscounts.co.uk to use their site. In my case it was Interflora. Boycot Easyjet and boycot Interflora!

I also had this. Turns out i signed up to a membership just by ordering a pizza from pizza hut. Thankfully i check my statements regularly. This company must be taking loads from people that don't even realise they are a member!

Shopper Discounts and Rewards Unauthorised deductions from bank account

Shoppers Discount have been taking £10 from my bank account for the past (I believe) 6 months at least. I can't even remember how it started now because it's so long ago, and I had forgotten about it till I started checking my statements. I asked my bank to stop paying out because I had not authorised the ongoing payment, and initially I thought they had done so. But today I find another £20 deducted on my current statement, £10 at the beginning of June and £10 at the beginning of July. I rang my bank and they said as it's a debit card I would have to ring the Fraud Department. I am just about to do this, as I am extremely angry, partly with myself for not noticing this cheap trick before, but mostly with Shoppers Discount for being so unscrupulous.

Shopper Discounts and Rewards Subscription Credit Card Charges

Monthly fee showing up in the amount of $12 w/o my kowing consent. Posts by others on this subject suggest I should have read all the disclaimers and legal prose before responding to a pop-up. Maybe so. None-the-less, I know if the company asked for my cc information I would have backed away from saying yes to some 10% discount. I've come to understand that by clicking on the pup-up while conducting, for inishing up, on an on-line transaction my cc information is automatically routed to Shopper Discounts and, bam, I'm signed up.

I saw the recurring charge after three months and contacted Shopper Discounts. "No problem, we'll refund the full amount." they responded. Great. Still, I believe Shopper Discounts tactics are an underhanded way of hooking people -- put it in fornt of folks that they'll be billed -- over and over again. I guess, we all come to understand that companies will do anything for a buck while rationalizing how they are providing a service. Shopper Discounts falls in the same catagory as banks and their interest rates on credit cards and late fees. Why else is legislation being passed to reign in the criminally punitive charges, the hidden charges. Because the industry and it leaders are not showing moral and ethical leadership.
