Hello There,
I went to Shoprite Newtown Junction mall yesterday to go and buy Chicken braai pack carrying R100.
I took:
2kg IQF braai cuts R46.99
175g Sunlight soap R9.49
RB P/Boiled rice R20.99
Rb Soup PKT R2.99
Bar one nuts R8.49
These totalling to R88.95
When I realised that the RB Soup PKT was R2.99, I then asked the cashier if I can go and get another pack and she said I can go. She scanned the other pack and now she told me the total was around R114. I was surprised by this and because I was holding the line I asked her to reverse the Bar one nuts and the 2X RB Soup PKT and she processed the payment and gave me the slip. I missed to check the slip as I was in a hurry but when I was checking it in my place I see that the is a product that appears in the slip which I did not buy which is Frozen Mixed Veg R21.79.
I want to raise this complaint because I was humiliated when I was reversing the items that I bought thinking that I took more product than I could afford but instead the cashier scanned something extra that I did not buy and I believe this was done when I went to fetch the other RB Soup PKT. This is unethical, disrespectful and unprofessional and would want to know what you going to do with this.

I do my shopping Monthly at Shoprite, because of your low prices and quality products. I listened to James Basson on 702 and was impressed on how the business is growing in Africa. I went yesterday to the Shoprite in Mayfield on the East rand . Last month I bought English Blazer [Body Cologne] and I was very impressed and decided that I will buy it again as had a nice fragrance. I was testing [On my wrist ] a different English Blazer fragrant, when the packer told me I should not do that. Upon asking her how the to TEST the spray, she alerted security [IMVULA]. The security without asking shouted at me and told me that I should not spray on my wrist. I should spray the lid. I asked him why did they not put a note up as to how to test a product you wane purchase. He told me that he does not speak English [In a very bad tone] and I should speak his language. When did Shoprite make the security guards the managers of the stores ?. People were starring to look what is going on, as he was very loud. He embarrassed me very WELL. CONGRATULATION SHOPRITE. I’m married to an African woman and can hear little bit of Sotho and Zulu. He told one of the shoppers that this one does not have a Culture ?. I will NEVER EVER do buy at Shoprite and will encourage friends and family [Word of mouth] to do likewise. There was a gentleman [Apparent manager] that approached me after YOUR security was so loud and rude. He told me that I should not spray and only smell the nozzle of the bottle in front of all the clients. What is the process of testing your fragrant. The guy that look like a normal civilian [not presentable].
PLEASE SORT OUT THAT STORE AS PEOPLE ARE TREATED BAD AND DON’T KNOW WHERE TO COMPLAIN AS EVERY ONE IS RUDE !

My phone has been stolen last week, I would love to recommend and compliment the cashier packer as well as a security guard they went way out to try and assist me. The Branch Manager sat in her office knowing a customer was just robbed of her phone did not even bother to come out of her office to find out what the problem is. I was in the shop for 15 minutes after realising my phone is gone the cashier even assisted me in giving me her phone to see if the phone on which unfortunately was off already.
I then went back after a while as they told me they checking the cameras I then came back to the shop to find if they found anything to then be told there are no cameras at any of the tills.
Its not about my phone that was gone but when people get positions they really need to be qualified for it and take their positions in right standing and know what meaning of Manager is. you must be better than your staff where customer services is concerned as you must follow by example.
I was actually surprised by this behaviour as this is the store I go to almost every day or every week.
I will definately find another place to do my shopping in

16 Sept 2016, firstly I would like to say that I don't expect outstanding customer service from Shoprite in general but the incompetence and rudeness of the staff was repulsive. This happened at the Shoprite corner Pritchard and Eloff Street in Johannesburg. Since its double story, I expected both areas to have trolleys, we were in the goods sections upstairs and we were told to go downstairs to get a trolley, when we got downstairs we were told that the trolleys are only for use downstairs. After explaining that we had to buy lots of items they then agreed to give us the trolley however the lift was not working so we had to ask them once again to carry the trolley for us upstairs which they did.
When we got upstairs we bought the casserole dishes we wanted, however they were not enough so we asked the lady working on that isle if she could call one of the other Shoprite branches to check if they had stock on the products we wanted and she refused saying she couldn't do it. I mean who just says that, aren't customers supposed to be helped, its not like I asked her to go to those stores physically? Obviously after that we got what we bought and we left but yet again we were stopped told trolleys are not supposed to leave the shop. We are ladies with a trolley full of Casserole dishes, so we were expected to carry these to the car without a trolley? The least they could've done was walk us to the car then take the trolley back to the shop since it was a lots of things we bought...
Anyways I might continue shopping for goods not food (let me leave that one for today at Shoprite since customer focus is probably not one of the main focus areas. However I thought I should bring up the level of poor service customers are faced with every day.

poor service and incompetent staff
Today 16/09/2016 at 17h05 I went to Shoprite Usave at FAlala Shopping Centre to purchase airshow tickets at their money market. The cashier told me I must come the following day for the tickets. then she called the manager named Nunu Nyakale or Ngakale to collect the tickets from their offices. The manager didn't return I waited and waited for about 30 minutes and no one told me anything until I fell that there is nothing I can do. I stood there like a fool and no one bothered to inform me what was wrong. The manager didn't even greet me when the cashier told her that I need tickets. I don't understand what kind of procedure is done at the shop. The staff is so incompetent, you will find that there are queues and there will be only one cashier working. I am so disappointed words are not even enough to express how I feel. I have never went to that shop and come out a happy customer. Its as if they making you a favour by helping you. If the management is also incompetent in handling queries like this I am so disgusted. this is not the service I want to pay for. I feel as much as its helping people with jobs but the staff should pull their socks. or they will loose business to business that knows how to handle customers. I had to drive all the way to another big shop to buy airshow tickets. I am not happy until something happens in the shop. or you will loose business.
organics shampoo 400ml
On the 29th of August I purchased Organics shampoo, 400ml with the hope that I will be getting a R20 discount, all the Organics products were on special and had the stickers that said R20 off, when I got home to check if I did get my R20 off to my surprise I paid the full price of R46, 99.
I took the slip with to the shop the following day after work to query why I did not receive my discount, to my surprise the manager on duty (Isaac) said I must go home and bring the shampoo with so he can see if it has the sticker for R20 off, I asked him why would I make a trip to the store with my slip if I did not know I was suppossed to get the R20 off and how did I know I was suppossed to get the R20 off, and he insisted that I go home and come back with the product, he said to me if I had bought milk and it was off I would bring it back ..I argued that I do not want to exchange the product hence I did not bring it with, and I have my slip.
I would like to get my R20 off as promised by Shoprite and I feel that the management need to be trained on how to resolve issues than be arrogant and assume the client is not telling the truth.

vrot hoender & onopgeleide kassiere
Ek het gister 19 Julie 2016 vleis gekoop by Shoprite in Aliwal Noord. Die hoender wat ek gekoop het se verval datum was nog reg, so ek het gedink ek verbeel myself oor die onaangename reuk wat uit hul vrieskaste uit kom. By die huis gekom het ek die hoender oopgemaak. Die hoender so bokant het okay gelyk, maar die binnekant het al begin verkleur en dit was so slymerig en het glad nie lekker geruik nie. Ek het dit maar weg gegooi.
Ook, die kassiere lek hulle vingers nat om sakkies oop te maak. Dit is grillerig en onhigiënies. Dit is ook die rede hoekom ek nie eens terug gegaan het om die hoender terug te neem nie. Die kassiere was baie omgekrap toe ek haar gevra het om asseblief nie haar vingers nat te lek om die sakkie oop te maak nie. Ek sal nie weer by Shoprite koop nie en almal wie ek ken afraai om daar te koop.
Die vleis is vrot en die kassiere onvriendelik en onopgelei.

I would like to know what the criteria is regarding all the food that has been spoiled or food and products that is past due date?
The reason I am asking this is due to the fact that Mr AJ Grobler is currently the person who Shoprite Checkers Musina 0900 has appointed as their Waste Removal.
He is supposed to give this to his animals on the plot. BUT I assure you that he is giving this for human consumption, they are also using this as their own food recources.
According to me some of the brands given have Shoprite trademark on. This making it very difficult if some are really spoiled causing food poisening.
Please investigate as Mr Grobler has a room full of expired food. He is giving this to unexpected people for consumption.
This is not acceptble.

On Sat, 30 April 2016 my helper sent money to her children using the Money transfer at Shoprite Eldorado Park. When they went to withdraw the money later the same day, the money had been withdrawn already. Helper went to Shoprite to check what had happened and was told to come back the Monday. On Monday she was told they didnt have time to report it to head office and should come back Tuesday. Tuesday she was told they didnt have "time" to report to HO and should come back the Friday. (Really messing people around) On Friday, my son went with her and then they said they would report it and contact her with feedback. She only got feedback on Sat 14 May and was told that the money was withdrawn by Tshepiso Moteme at the Tzaneen Shoprite (00/828) but couldnt give her a copy of his ID.
We then went to report this to the police station in Eldorado Park where we found 6 other people reporting the same issue as they had also fallen prey to this Shoprite scam. Some of their money was also withdrawn in Tzaneen.
I find this totally ridiculous as you offer a secure and safe service which is obviously not and so our people get scammed with no resolution to their losses.
I request that you investigate this matter and hold someone accountable for the safety of the service you provide. Also that the user gets compensated for her loss as in the meantime her family goes without food!
This is unacceptable and should be seriously addressed as there are many more incidents of this nature.

This is really serving a very bad customer service to the value able customer they don't know even how to talk to customer and they r not ready to help even.
Yesterday I went there in the evening and I was at cash counter 2 employee was talking then I ask help but she said rudely I m by my self I m not going to help you I said can u find somebody to help me but she say u have to go and find someone if they available to help,
All the time it's happening they don't know even they have product or no.
Not responsible at all without knowing answer comes up no we don't have it then when we find out they don't say sorry even. Mostly evening staff is very bad and rush to customer. I think manager is changed
I hope if this will be going on then they have to close Shoprite soon.
I had very good experience at pearl river Shoprite. But not this west nyack one. So disappointed.

First time visit and experience at Shoprite Zeerust was on the 27th february 2016, the visit thing it was a busy weekend for the store operated with 6 tills while the queues where crazy. i stood on the queue for over 45min and got pressed, went to the branch manager (Lucas) and asked if i can use the toilet, he just said he does not have a public toilet and i used go use one at the nearby garage.
Was offended cause the shop its not in a shopping mall where one can go and use public toilets, firstly i do not know the town and i'm a customer to shoprite don't know why the manager does not go an extra mile for the customers.
In work with people and know the important of clients at my workplace and was so shocked to get an " I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE" from the branch manager.
I'm pleading to Mr Basson to look at the treatment we get from the stores, i believe that companies are spending a lot of money to take staff on customer service training but still they fail to give that to customers.

security at protea glen mall
While exiting the shoprite store at protea glen mall on friday 08/01/2016. The security lady called me to search my handbag and I went to her. She forcefully dug deep in, me trying to keep the peace, I let her and she took out my r1500 perfume and my hand lotion - both these item are not available at shoprite. She than called another guy - probably the manager and he took these and started threatening me, telling me that I should have notified them about these items before entering the store. I told him there was no security on my way in and I tried to take my stuff back. I only managed to grab my perfume and he wouldn't let me have my hand lotion, he literally pushed my and broke my nail in the process, I even have a scar from this incident. I than decided to leave since I do not have the power to fight him, I mean am a woman. I left behind my hand lotion. If shoprite does not fix this, I will go to every social media platform that you could possibly think of and after that I will go to the papers and I promise to make first page. I want my hand lotion back and I want you to reimburse me for my nails and I don't know what you are going to do about my scar.
championship boerewors 2013
Good day I am utterly disgusted with the 2013 championship boerewors bought at Bougainville centre Hercules Pretoria how many bones can a piece of boerewors contain? I am sure the person who won that particular year did not put bones in the recipe. Over the years I have always bought championship boerewors and the last 3 months I tasted bones, first month not so bad maybe 1 or 2 but what I ate tonight was disgusting. We are Romans Pizza - Lesotho running here at Maseru Mall, for almost 3 years, when Shoprite here in Maseru Mall was open we are the first customer always buying mushroom, after 2 1/2 years, your staff and vegetables controller and Manager name he called Pitso, Did not attend to my complaint when they don't want to sales to us the mushroom and before they used to give us the rotten one all the time. coz they are giving now priorities to Debonairs. Now for almost 3 months now they are not selling mushroom to us at all, they have a lot of excuses, but we are always giving them an orders and they refuse. One day I met the Branch Manager he called himself Edwin, and I have complaint to him everything, but today he was so rude to me and tell me not to come and buy anymore to Shoprite anything, its because I have found one of the trolly infront of my shop, and I wanted to use it. He is shouting at me and insulting me. For the almost 3 years I been buying all my stuff from Shoprite and expense almost 20000 rand a month. still im buying from them other stuff for my shop even though they don't sale to me a mushroom anymore. but today, I felt insulted, coz Mr. Edwin he was so rude to me and to my staff and telling me not to come and buy anything from Shoprite. We are the first regular customer always supporting Shoprite when they are almost closed down in [protected], now they treating us like bad consumer. How will you do if your in my place?

I recently for the first time in my life went to Shoprite in Fish Hoek because someone transferred money to me using the money market and it is certainly the last.
I was waiting 10 minutes in the queue behind an individual who was on the phone for 10 minutes whilst the teller enjoys her chat with a friend. Then all of sudden she decides to ask me if I followed the queue. There were two counters one with a longer queue and one with only one person and we stood in the one with one person. She then tells us that people who come there know that Shoprite has only one queue. I asked her that why did she wait 10 minutes before informing of this and she could not respond to that. I asked the admin manager who said that the teller failed to see you were there. When I mentioned that there are two counters and two queues he simply said "People who come here know that it is one queue for both counters".
Overall exceptionally incompetent staff and management. I will not be coming back and warn others too.

I deeply disappointed in a complaint ii laid against Shoprite Vryburg Admin Manager I Lockey in wich manner she speak to the customers and swearng, also what i expierience how she swear at even the staff members(cashiers) its shows me that she got a leck of proffesionalism.
Also it came to the attention of the Area Manager Gary Hening he contact me and inform me that they will sort the matter internal out.
I disagree about that and request proof on paper(feedback) but he Gary refuse to give me in wtriting feedback .
I also went that far and gain some customers names that are against her behavour.Also when i speak to some of the stuff members the sa to me that, that the dont want to say anything about her because if she find out wh talk aganst her she mae sure ou get fired in a constructialway.
We are staying in a Democratic society n South Africa and we are fedup for people I.Lockey to disrepect customer aswell there staff members.
I personally want that the Senior members must sort her out.And i thnk that Gary Heninh is not competent for his job, because he cant tell me he will not gve me as a customer of Shoprite and also save Shoprite thousonds of rands in 2007.
Thans here soon from you, i will not stop until ou responde back also i want to put her (I.Lockey) in the news paper.
