Good morning
I am going to be straight to the point. U save staff is really, really rude, unprofessional and un mannered.
Yesterday 26 february 2013 I went to u save in scottsville kraaifontein, to get jik, sponges and saw that the check dish clothes are r10.00. When I went to the till the price was r14.99.
I told the cashier that on the shelf it show r10. She then called the manageress and the manageress went to look but took forever to return. Then I went to go check and she was just standing there. I told her that what you see is what you buy. She was so flipping rude, she said your people come shop in this store and messes everything up. I was extremely upset. She then called one of the staff to look.
I went to the till and waited. This guy benson (Staff) then came back and said sorry the price is r14.99 I said no what I see is what I get. He then told me well you must ma do whatever you want but they are not giving it for that price.
I then left everything at the till and went to the manageress…she wasooo f……. King rude then I told her I am going to report her to the right people. She said you must do whatever she don’t flippen care. I pass this store every day and every day I walk in to buy something.
I am very unhappy and I am not going to leave this like this. I know I didn’t shop a lot of stuff, but at the end of the day a customer is always right and at the end of the day a customer pays there wages. And if this is how you handle your clients then I am sorry I won’t shop there. I will make it known how unethical the store is. And to top it all up they don’t evens have proper customer care, and they take their own sweet time to help at the tills…. Really now people think a lot of the stores and for them to treat loyal customer the way they did me honestly then I prefer to go to cape gate.
Some advice change the staff at the store, especially the manageress and the people at the tills, they will bring harm to u save….

dirty store, disrespectful staff
I am a regular customer at Shoprite in Sea Point, unfortunately it is the closest grocery store to my work. My complaint is firstly that the store is filthy, I have watched them mop the floors with a dirty mop and no bucket on various occasions, I have noticed cockroaches at the tills and at the section where they sell the fried chicken, there are always flies around the food section and I noticed that they have a certificate on the wall as proof that their cooking equipment / section has been professionally cleaned - in 2009! Are they supposed to clean it once every three years? Shouldnt it be done more regularly for hygienic reasons? Once I bought overspiced chicken there and was told by a colleague that it smells funny, after I had already consumed half of it. Upon closer inspection I had to agree that it does smell funny, asif it was expired already and I threw the rest away. Another time I bought cake and when I got to work and wanted to eat it, the cake was hard. I took it back and they apologised and refunded me. Yet another time I bought a milk tart for my birthday, to treat my colleagues and after already eating a slice, one of my colleagues alerted me to the fact that there is fungi growing on the milktart. I am considering lodging a complaint to the health department if that will get them to shape up that store. The staff, especially the cashiers and packers at the tills have complete disregard for customers and sometimes have lengthy personal conversations with each other while taking their sweet time to assist the client. I once even witnessed an argument between a cashier and her packer where they insulted each other in fornt of me while they were assisting me. I have also noticed that these same staff members discuss and insult management within full hearing of a customer, sometimes even with the manager or supervisor present and not saying anything to reprimand them. All in all, not a pleasant experience to shop there. A disgrace, considering Sea Point is one of the main tourism destinations in Cape Town. Is this what we expose our visitor's to?
poor hiring decisions
I was first interviewed on 3/10/11. I was told I was hired but unsure of starting date. Had to do another application online. Interviewed again. I was hired. No start date. I then received a certified letter stating they could not reach me, good luck. I called and left messages. I had to waste 2 days off my regular employment to not get hired. I understand they can get away with this.
interview gone wrong
Recently I had an interview with the shoprite of byram for a night position and was fired when I got my tag because they told me I didnt follow dress code. To my understanding at the bottom of the employee hand book which I was told to read stated that nightshift employees did not require a collard shirt, tie and shorts, it did not state we had to wear them for an orientaion so plz check your own rules again before you fire someone other poor soul on the first day.

I called the woman from Human Resources about 2 weeks after she had called me back and had said twice that she believed me and that I didn't have to show her my two receipts and that she would be willing to meet me at this Shoprite when I show the managers my October receipt which proves that I did buy a good homestyle garlic turkey breast there that cost 6.59 for half of a pound not 3.21.She had said in the first that she would speak with them and get back to me and that usually takes a day or two.
Well, I told her that I would call her if I could go that Thursday of that week to meet her there but I couldn't go. She never called me back about this. And I had told her then, that I'm sure that they are still going to deny they ever carried it and I said they might become more defensive and angry because my October receipt proves that I'm right and they're wrong and they don't want to admit it, she said no, I'll talk to them.And when I spoke with her May 2 she now says that she did speak with them and that they said that they only have been carrying this cheaper type of garlic turkey breast and that someone made a mistake with what they gave me in October! Yeah right, I purposefully sought out and bought a cheap fake processed type of turkey breast (which I don't like and never buy, )before, and I only got this good homestyle more expensive one once by mistake!? Total bull!
I told her again for the zillionth time, that I did buy it there several times before October and that the Deli manager at this store told me on the phone weeks ago when I first spoke with her, that the more expensive garlic turkey wasn't selling there. I said to this woman from Human Resources in my first and my recent conversation, how would she have known it wasn't selling if they never carried it there? She said she didn't know and that she looked in their case when she was there recently and she said it is the cheaper kind that they are selling now. And she said I should just ask to taste it before I buy it.
I said I didn't need to taste it because as I said, I had already bought it there quite a few times before and I knew that I liked it and I had told her during my first conversation that I had seen it in their front case a few times before but I wasn't sure I would like it, but then eventually I asked if I could taste it, and they gave me a little and I knew I liked it.She sounded as if she believed them now and said the store manager told her he doesn't think I'm being deceptive, she said it's human error. Unbelievable!
Hello my name is Alan Goldberg, I am a former employee of Carteret Shoprite. For the record I had worked for the store for almost eight years. I will be the first to admit that I was not the greatest employee ever but I will state that I was far from the worst. My position with the company was that i was their meat manager. Over the years, i experienced some problems with my job that included lack of proper personel, lack of cooperation from my managerial team which included some of the other department managers and eventually my lack of desire to complete my job duties due to the lack of respect that i received from my store manager. I will be the first to admit that I did not do everything that i was told to do by my managers and I agree that I was wrong. In my defense I must state that I did not get the proper help and guidance from my store manager Mike Marzullo when it came to helping me fix problems or situations in my department. When it came down to it Mr. Marzullo would usually go out of his way to make any problems that I brought to him worse by berating me and he would also blame me for causing the problem. So instead of making a small problem go away he would usually make the problem 10x worse. It got to the point that just about everyday he would make a sarcastic and hurtful comment to me just to get under my skin so he could ruin my day. After I quit I still shopped in the store until Mr. Marzullo started to pull me on the side to tell me that I needed to keep my mouth shut and stop bad mouthing the store to everyone. After about three to four times of this happening I explained to Mr. Marzullo that whatever he was hearing about me talking badly about the store was all complete lies. Even after I explained this to him he told me that if he heard any more about bad things being said he and the owner Lenny Sitar would put a restraining order on myself, my girlfriend and any of our family from stepping foot on the entire complex property. Even to this very day I am hearing things from employees of Carteret Shoprite that things are being said that I am writing and saying bad things about the company and some of their employees. Anyone that knows me especially those that have known me for years, would state that I have always gone to an individual especially MR. MARZULLO when i have had or was having a problem with something whether it was personal or about business. So to constantly hear that I am doing or saying things about a person in this company or something about the company itself behind their backs is an absolute lie. One of my biggest faults i find about myself is not knowing when to keep my mouth shut. Over the years this trait has certainly got me my share of troubles but what i know is that no one can accuse me of being a back stabbing no good person. I have never thrown anyone under the bus and I have always excepted the blame and punishment for my misdoings. SO LET IT BE CLEAR TO ANYONE WHO IS CALLING ME A LIAR, WHAT I KNOW IS THAT EVERY TIME I LOOK IN THE MIRROR I CAN HOLD MY HEAD UP HIGH KNOWING THAT WHAT I DID AND HOW I DID IT WAS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OTHERS AND MY GOAL WAS TO HELP MY CO-WORKERS AND MY EMPLOYER PROSPER BOTH IN BUSINESS AND ALSO THEIR PERSONAL LIFES. WORKING IN THAT FASHION WAS PROBABLY MY BIGGEST DOWN FALL BECAUSE ALL I SAW HAPPENING WAS OTHERS GETTING IN LINE FOR A PAT ON THE BACK AND THESE SAME PEOPLE WOULD THROW ANYONE EVEN THEIR MOTHERS UNDER THE BUS JUST TO KEEP THEMSELVES OUT OF TROUBLE. SO LIKE I SAID IN LATE JULY WHEN I LEFT AND I WILL STICK TO MY STORY I WISH THE COMPANY AND ALL OF ITS EMPLOYEES THE BEST OF LUCK, I HAVE APOLOGIZED TO EVERYONE WHO WAS AFFECTED BY MY DEPARTURE AND ALL I ASK IS THAT THOSE THAT ARE ACCUSING ME OF DOING THEM WRONG IS THAT THEY TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THEMSELVES AND REALIZE THAT THEY ARE ALL NOT SAINTS AND WE ALL NEED TO GO ON WITH OUR LIVES WITHOUT STICKING ROADBLOCKS IN EACHOTHERS WAYS! Checking out with my wife on april 25th kathrine apparently a manager for this store comes up behind me an announces loud enough for two aisles on either side of us to hear "you don't belong in this store, haven't we thrown you out before" i had never seen this woman before in my life and told her so, she proceeded to relate how i came in with a blanket over my lap (You see i have no legs but that was plainly visible as i was wearing shorts and the only similarity that i had with this other person was the wheel chair) a small crowd gathered i guess to discuss my guily or innocence at which point i asked that the police be called as a police report of the incident would be helpful in clearing the situation, i have never been so embarrassed in my life. This katherine woman just walked away laughing as if it was just a little joke, it wasn't funny to me or my wife. This woman should not be working as a person that has contact with the public, at least not those with no legs and stuck in a wheel chair.

I had bad experience one of the shop rite which is newly opened in Newark Delaware. I bought 2 gallons of milk and we at home sow the milk got curdled and we tried both gallons, both had the same issue and I called the store and they asked me take back that to the store the and according to that I took it back to the stores customer service. They called one of the manager and while I was trying to explain what happened, he was rushing me by giving other milk gallons and he don't want to listen and he was so rude. This is really a bad experience from such a big company and why ?

I use to work at the Nutley of Shoprite, and the security manger Joe Buffa is a old creep. I seen him with my own eyes molesting one of his employees. This guy needs to get arrested as soon as possible, he is a pervert.

I will never shop at another one of your stores
On Friday evening [protected] at 18.11 I went into Shoprite Malvern as I do religiously and was purchasing a box of tampons (yes tampons) as well as a 2 litre coca cola. I swiped my Credit Card at the till 3 times with 3 different cards before having the manageress take my items away and tell me to please leave! i was so embarrassed I just walked out not thinking to get a name.
It would have been more civil to ask me to go to another till as they were accepting cards but to tell me I cant buy at the store is something I have never experienced before. I am HUMILIATED and vow to never to return to the store again, bare in mind Pick n Pay and Checkers are somehow always right next to each other and we as consumers have a choice I obviously made the wrong one.
Yesterday I went to buy groceries at Shoprite Strand. When I came to the till I saw cockroaches crawling over the food near the till. I was disguisted and made the teller aware and she arrogantly told me its not her problem. Disguisting and pathetic service! Is their perhaps a health inspector nearby?
May 07, 2015 at 7: 09 p.m. I purchased (2) packages of 93% ground beef the meat although outwardly red and inviting the way fresh meat is suppose to look, but inside it had the color of dark brown mud. A regular customer of your chain of stores, I was horrified to find such an obvious attempt to mislead and defraud me and all your others customers. Upon returning these unacceptable items, I was met with a very indifferent attitude, from the store manager Damon I was appalled at his lack of customer service skills. First he had me waiting 20 minutes before he responded to the call from the customer service desk. When I ask for a explanation of why his store is selling rancid meat unfit for human consumption, he rudely answer that this is the way ground beef is suppose to look. I have been a customer of ShopRite Stores for well over 20 years my customer number is [protected], after this experience I doubt that I will continue to be such a faithful customer. I hope that the standard of products and services your stores provides will be seriously assessed. They must be raise to the point where I will once again fill comfortable doing business with your store. I will be sharing this experience with friends and family who are also customers. Refused to answer or respond to questions
We saw an open till, when we asked the lady if she was open, she ignored us. So we asked her directly again, very nicely, if her till was open, because she kept on ignoring us. She still did not care to respond to any question so we went to stand in line at the next till. As the next guy came to her till she started helping him.
Checker Pavillion, has the worst service. It happens over and over that there is problems.
I visited the take away section to purchase some fried fish. The one and only staff member was gutting a stock fish. Customers began stacking up, but they remained unserved - most turned on their heels and left. So much for the old adage ' He also serves those who stand and wait !'
With such bad service I dont think I would want to go there agai
After standing in the bakery queue for a few minutes and finally being the last one left, the girl behind the counter just decides to leave for her 'lunch break' and refuses to help me. Then another employee notices and tells her to attend to me as I am the only one left. The girl refused, and the two got into a long unprofessional arguement. The girl then helped me with such attitude, practically throwing my rolls at me.
Then upon paying for the goods the lady behind the till (who I could not hear saying 'Next'), gives me SUCH attitude and poor service that I almost left the goods and left. If looks could kill I would be dead by now!
The customer service is a disgrace, they are extremely slow, unprofessional and rude! I am appalled by what happened on Saturday, such attitude is uncalled for and definately not professional in any business. I suggest the manager in charge of the branch gives his employees some guidelines on how to work with customers and change their attitude towards clients.
I do my shopping at Checkers numerous times in the week as its just around the corner from my house, but with such bad service I dont think I would want to go there again!
On the 21th December 2016 I brought two 1.5L of Clover Krush Orange Juice at Shoprite in Florida. The juice is passed the expiry date of the 16th December 2016. This is totally unacceptable and unhealthy.
I was at shoprite strand and was assisted by the cashier Natasha. The service she gave me was absolutely horrible using know why they are still working with customers. Her behavior is totally unacceptable she doesn't greet or ask for a bag who dies she thinks I am she is not doing me a favor but I'm doing her a favor by paying her salary.
So disgusted, was at shoprite arcadia in pretoria yesterday, whilst picking rolls I find a cochroach running around in the basket, disgusting is a under statement, how do we eat rolls that are accompanied with roaches, you guys really need to get your act together, we are human beings we cant eat roach poo.
manager with bad attitude
On sunday the 16 of august I went to buy a tooth brush for r16.75, so by seeing that it was that price I took it to the teller to pay. The cashier scanned and told me it was r31.99 therefore I asked to see a manager as the price is not what I saw. Norman bergman was busy with his cell phone playing games and didn't even look at my face as a client. He told me I was stupid as I didn't read what was written on the description. I felt embarassed in front of other people in the shop that I ended paying that r31.99. So I advise other customers to boycott shoprite checkers in yeoville. Please don't buy there as the manager doesn't have respect to customers.

Today my friend went to the pizza restuarant next to the rt9 shoprite. After he went into the store for something to drink. After entering the store he was aproached by a worker (Benny) and was told to " leave because I cant deal with your ### today. " my friend without a fight left not knowing what he was talking about. Then we met up and he told me the story. Later we went back because I wanted candy and he wanted a iced tea. We walked around not being loud or horseplaying then we got what we wanted and got on line, the worker saw my friend and snatched the iced tea from him and told him to get out. He again left but told my other friend we were with to get him the drink. The worker refused to give my friend the drink back. My friend then walked and got another iced tea and brought it to the register he told him to get out or he's callin the cops. So my friend gave the drink to me and told me to get him the drink and the worker (Benny) , knowing that it was for my friend, told me I could not purchase the drink. I said " who are you to tell me I cant buy this drink " and he stood infront of the lane saying "wait for the cops to come and ask him if you can get the drink. " me, not wanting to wait a half hour for a police officer to come, gave him the drink and bought my candy. He had no problem with me buying my candy but since he knew the drink was for my friend he wouldn't let me buy it. I think it is not right to do that because there was no reason to throw my friend out, then not let me buy something for him. I honestly think he is racist or something because i'm white and he let me get my candy but since my friends were spanish and black they couldn't purchase a item that is b. S.

You should have asked for the store manager or owner if you felt any racism was involved, and if they threatened to call the police you should have allowed them too... unless you or your friend had done something wrong. I've talked to others in the Old Bridge area who refuse to shop at that ShopRite because of racist claims, wrongful termination, and name calling & personal attacks from workers. I've shopped there for many many years and refuse to ever go back to that store again due to certain nightcrew workers.

I worked for a large supermarket not names right now I am a butcher and was working on a sat night by my self from around 3:30 that after noon the time was now 8:40pm 20 min before I got off work and I broke down all the saws in my dept. That we use to cut steaks I was in the middle of throwing out the garbage before I was to go home when I remembered my wife asked me to pick up some steaks I got a rain chk from customer service that closed at 9pm also the next day when I came in to work I was called up to the office and told I was being being written up for and suspended pending human resources for getting a rain chk when there where still steaks left in the case I told the store manager that there where only like 10 steaks left in the case and it would have not left any stakes for the customer so I called the union they setup a meeting with mangement and they decided to discharge me on the basis of integertiy I worked there 18 months and only got written up for being late so I applied for unemployment and it was granted for 4 weeks then I got a letter of retermined determination that I was denied for violation of policy and misconduct now in the store manuel it is not a violation to get a raincheck so now I have no source of income for my family I have filled out about 30 alpplications and followed with them still nothing I put I a request for a hearing with my claim plus now we are very close to getting a loan mod on our home we are in forclosure now everything I fought so hard for is over they did not tell the labor board the truth also have my union delegete on recording confirming something is not right that hehas never heard someone getting fired for a raincheck

Shopping with my 5yr old... Short and to the point.. Any parent knows how it can be shopping with a a child that doesnt want to be there, or wants a toy or anything and wont stop..
I was one of those parents... Paying the cashier and not realizing I forgot a small item I had place at the top of my bag.. I shouldnt have done that tobegin with,, but my bag was open and overflowing, I wouldnt forget it it right? Not if I through other things on top and it got pushed around in my suitcase..
Security guard grabbed my wagon on the way out.. Took my picture in his tiny room with my daughter on my lap.. Sign a paper or have a lawyer.. I explained this was a compete accident and would pay for the item.. But in there eyes (Rent a cop) once u leave the cashier... U are now a thief, a hard criminal! At least that is how I was made to feel...
If they left the police out of it and signed a form of which I dont even recall what ist was, because I was so distraught.. I would not have a record! So I signed this paper and he says there is one more... Now I must pay a fee of$75.00!
I was so humiliated! I had to sort of explain to my daughter why we were in there after about nine times from her why she wasnt getting the toy from the machine!
After thinking this over I called and asked for a copy of the document..
"it is confidential" the evening security boy refused to give me his name.. He was accusing me of being a liar like everyone else..
When asked if he was a parent.. He said"I know how kids can be"... He did not have kids nor does he understand... Because he is merely a child himself,,

rude and disrepected
I went to buy some food for my apartment. This Shoprite accepts the local university fincinal aid dollars as payment. When I went to pay I stood there for 15mins while they customer service manager, Catherine, tried to run it through. Then after 15mins. she came back over and said that it was not working and that I could not use that. It was the only form of payment I had and I just spent over 1 hour shopping and almost as long waiting to get checked out. The whole time she was talking to me she was rude and DID NOT have the type of customer service you would expect from a "Customer Service manager". I then asked her to get the store manager. This tall doofy guy, Dominic, came over WITH SECURITY to tell me the same thing as the other lady. I found it comical and laughed when I asked who the guys were and found out they were some RENT-A-COPS. It was embarassing and there was no reason to have brought security over. I explained to him that you accept this form of payment, why am I not being allowed to use it. He said they could not get it to work...How is that my problem? They did not try other means ie contacting the school to see what else they could do etc. Also they copied my information down from my student ID, which was absoultely unnecessary! An official complaint was filed with Shoprite 1800 number and I will prusue this till I feel the sistuation is rectified to my statification.

I was at usave zone7 yesterday 21/03/2023 the staff was so rude I go there to buy bread and ask for cash back of R20 they told me that they don't have money in the tills after I go to the money market also she was refused to help me I don't have a right to withdraw money R20 I am disappointed

Yesterday I went to u-save to get some phew staff, I got there around 17:30 they then overcharged me cause they rang one item 2times and when I asked for refund they told to wait, I asked them if they expect me to wait for the que to be finished cause I'm not the one who made a mistake, the cashier he then called the manager who lifted his hands saying what is it what do you want ?he then asked him to come over and he didn't come he just sad cant you see that I'm busy? I then raised my voice telling them about their service how can they expect me to stand there instant of refunding me cause its my money, then by 18:00 the shop closed then the manager decided on going to the back leaving me standing there with no help the security of the shop she then came and asked what was the matter, I explained to her she apologised on their behalf saying she can see where the mistake is, asking me to calm down but I was so fed up cause of the treatment I got, she then went at the back to call the manager who came with an attitude, I told him I'm going to report him, he sad he doesn't care but if he can loose his job I will know him, he even told me that my kids are smoking nyaope drug.. I then decided to take him a photo and he sad here is my face I can even bring you my name tag and we see what's will happen, I only got my refund at 18:30

yesterday 21/06/2017 I went to usave Brits to buy milk and laundry soap and I wish I never had to go there to shop. The security guy there is very rude, this actually started 3 weeks back and I have been ignoring the incident. but yesterday I feel the guy has pushed his attitude over the limit. The first time he greeted me and I responded, he started conversations that made me uncomfortable so I just left him buy saying he is ruining my day. He didn't hear me but the cashier heard me and told him. On my way out I got a nasty confrontation of why did I say he is ruining my day. I told him I didn't like what he said and walked away.
last week when I went to buy snacks he was standing at the fridges with the merchandiser who was packing cold beverages, he was asking me why should I pass him without acknowledging him, its a must that I must greet him because he is a man. I looked at him and didn't respond.
yesterday when I got there he started saying nasty things about me, telling the cashier at the kiosk how I think I'm better, I ignored and continued with my shopping. after my payment I go to the door give him my slip and he starts again by being rude and also refused me to use the trolley and I was only parked in front of the door.
I now hate having to go there because I feel harassed. I don't want to see myself shopping there anymore.
