scamming and unauthorized charges to my card
Used the service one time and knew I was being charged $.95. Did not realize that getting on a site one day for $.95 would charge me for a $25 subscription that I did not even use after that first initial time. Absolute ripoff and the service was not even worth my time. Spokeo continued to bill my account the $25 two more times when I did not even use it. I will be calling their customer service to demand a refund or will be taking this scam and fraud to FCC or Law Enforcement.

Hello,
I am writing to complain about being charged for $24.95 after a 7 day trial of the name search option. I literally haven't been able to log in and use this service. Every single time I try it said there was a connection time-out and to reload my request. I literally have not been able to complete one search. Since the issue continued (I have attempted to use the service on different connections and devices) I thought maybe it was due to billing and I wouldn't need to worry about the issue. However I would like the money refunded and I want all of my personal information removed from your entire platform. I received no e-mails stating anything, not the registration, not the charges and couldn't receive the e-mail when attempting to reset a password. It's as though I was literally blocked from a internal source... Internal as in your website not the internet in whole or my devices and connections.

I do not recall ever visiting the Spokeo cite, however, I found on a bank statement that I was charged $20 for spookeo. I googled spokeo and called them. I inquired about the charge and was told several months prior I had used their cite to look up a phone number. I disputed using their cite ever and asked them to cancel whatever they had woth me and to refund my money. I argued and was hung up on three times. The fourth call I was told the account had been cancelled and my money would be refunded. This month I have yet another spokeo charge, I start looking and these charges go back months. I am going to report spokeo to the FCC and law enforcement, I will call my bank and see what they can do about the fraud. I did record the phone calls so I have proof that I was promised cancellation of the fraudulent account (not even my email) and refund.

unauthorized credit card charges
On November 11, 2018 I called and canceled a"Service" for Flogames (whatever that might be). The cancellation reference number is [protected]. Unfortunately I do not check credit card activity very often--I was paying $19.95 a month since November 2016.
Whatever Flogames might be I have never used it. I received 3 credits on November 12th for $9.98. I am expecting a full credit, please.

I realized that I was being charged 19.95 monthly for a service I never used. At first they couldn't even find my account and told me I had no account with them with the bank info they were taking money with each month. I was only offered less then a 10% refund for the amount they took from my bank without ever using the service! They are a SCAM! I was finally offered a 15% discount. Still not happy I was sent to maganment which just told me my subscription was canceled. Perfect! But I want to be refunded! They have been no help and just keep saying that I will no longer be billed. SCAM! I asked the girl how many unhappy customer calls she got a day! I'm sure it is a ton! Robbery at its finest! They offer free searches or .99 cent then bill you for 20 dollars a month until you catch it on your bank statement.

.95 one time charge turned into $19.99 reoccurring charge?
I used spokeo to confirm an address I wrote down incorrectly, a one time charge of .95 is what I paid for. I used it one time and upon reviewing my debit charges noticed a $19.99 reoccurring charge! I called and Asia was very nice on the phone but refused to credit me my $19.99. After reviewing this company I now know it's a scam... I will blow them up with negative review everywhere.
Your company obviously does not understand or care if this is an issue for your customers. Keep my hard earned $20 and I’ll do as I said and trash you as a scam every chance I get. I’m sure it doesn’t matter as you are keeping this money and not refunding as a stand up company would do. By the way, I have called the “customer care team” and they could care less, almost as if they are trained and directed to inform the customers that you would rather deal with someone like me than refund the $20 back and perhaps have a repeat customer.

charging my account for years for service I did not ask for
I pay my credit card on-line and have paperless billing. I just happened to look at recent transactions this month and noticed Spokeo has been charging me, not once, but TWICE a month for at least a year and half. One time for $9.97 and a few days later for $19.97. EVERY MONTH! I never agreed to this subscription or agreement or whatever it is and have never used it.

My card and laptop was stolen and I believe they have made a payment to spikeo? This was not me, I did not give permission and I would like my money back? Will ever Spokeo leave me alone or not? I never wanted to use their service, moreover, I never subscribed to them, because I had no idea about this service, however, somehow I was subscribed and now I get their emails every day stating they have some information about me; emails usually contain small attachments and you know what? It's my name and last name, my date of birth, but everything else is just a lie. I don't know where they got it and why. Tried to unsubscribe. Didn't work. Customer service is non-existent. I went on the spk spokeo site and it said I had to prove I was 18 and they asked me for my credit card information to prove that I was over the age of 18 to let me on there site so I gave them my credit card details and got on the site I was on the site for not even 5 miniutes becase I did not no how to use it as im not a computer exspert im just a beginner I only no the basic how to turn it on and get on the internet I went on my online banking account and noticed they had taken £23.72 out on the 04/05/2017 and £1.25 out on the 04/05/2017 as well I did not give them any authorization to take any money out of my bank account at all I want to claim a full refund of the money they took out of my bank account

Today I received notification that SPOKEO is billing my credit card. I had to look up the service to see what it was. I then disputed the charge on my credit card. At the suggestion of Amex, I called Spokeo to let them know what was happening. They refused to help me unless I verified my credit card information which was billed. How stupid is that? I'm not giving the people who are abusing my credit card verification they got it right. In the process of filing a BBB complaint.

Spokeo flagged my account as being in violation of their TOS, then banned me for life, all because I answered a survey question in 3 seconds without understanding it was a lifetime binding contract.
Upon logging in, I presented with what I interpreted as a survey, and responded with the reasons I believed Spokeo would be useful to people. One of my responses included, "tenant screening, " which is a violation of their TOS. The problem is this: I never used Spokeo for tenant screening and never would (that is what credit reports and criminal background checks are for). Mostly, I used Spokeo to check how much of my personal life is discover able online.
In any case, my explanation was not good enough for Spokeo and they are standing by their permanent closure of my account because it was "flagged."
It makes absolutely no sense that answering a survey question could have such long-term and bizarre consequences.
Their survey question needed a clear warning at the top of the page. Alternatively, if there was no warning of possible consequences, their system could have presented me with a pop-up after I submitted the survey response with strong, clarifying language and required me to affirm acceptance of their TOS (e.g. language such as, "you indicated that Spokeo would be useful for tenant screening, but Spokeo does not permit usage for that purpose as we are not covered by FCRA. Please confirm that you will not use Spokeo for tenant screening by clicking 'I Accept' below.")
This whole experience makes me dread that Spokeo exists at all. We should not grant such extraordinary power to organizations that treat us as if we are so insignificant. If they can't be decent to their customers, they shouldn't have any customers at all.
That's my two cents.

I required the cellphone number of an associate in an emergency situation, so I resorted to Spokeo.com. Their site offered various "introductory" programs so I selected "One Month of Service for $4.95". When I clicked to proceed, the resulting page offered only 6 months for $29.70. I cancelled and returned to the previous page and again selected the $4.95 option. This time the resulting page offered the $4.95 deal, so I gave my credit card info and proceeded. I promptly received a receipt stating, "Thank you for purchasing a 6-Month Bundle Subscription. Amount: $29.70." I called the billing number, explained that I am a professional writer with hundreds of reviews to my name, and offered to make their lives truly miserable if they did not promptly refund my payment . The agent immediately stated that she had refunded my payment as demanded. I soon thereafter received a "Cancellation and Refund Receipt" stating that my payment had indeed been refunded, but which I have been unable to confirm as of yet. IMHO, "Mistakes" like this occur far too frequently to be inadvertent.

subscription service for 6 month packages
Suscribed on Dec 26, and called DEc 29 to cancel since I did not find useful information. I asked for a 5 month reimbursement from a 6 month subscription Account Number: [protected]. They charged me $47.90 for 3 days use; and said it is a one time charge only, no partial reimbursements. I told them where in the page is that policy described, and that I please need full or at least partial reimbursement since info was not useful. I understand I deserve to be reimbursed or I will report Spokeo service as fraudulent to proper authorities. Thank you.

Joined the site and decided to subscribe. At first there was one price, but in the end they took more! Contacted Spokeo customer service and asked what was going on. They said that they gave me a premium account and that was why there was a price difference. Then I asked them why did they gave that new account, I never wanted one and never wanted to pay for it. I received all the information I needed and was not interested in their service anymore. They did not reply. When I asked for a refund they refused.
