During my first online shopping with my new SBI credit card, it asked for visa verification and took me to a web page for visa verification. i tried to do it and failed three times because of some unknown password issue and my card got locked after few trials. now i am not able to do any online shopping or visa verification.i have tried to contact SBI's customer care center 5 times in last three days and everyone told me that they have raised a complaint and my card will get unlocked automatically within an hour but issue has not been resolved yet.
I want to cancel my credit card now and get my one time processing fee back. Please help me here to get it done.

Employees who don't care
I am an NRI. I bank with State Bank of India Chengannur, Kerala. I recently visited India and this is my experience. (Part Two/Two). I never thought I would be writing this, so I didn’t note anyone’s name or title.
I am an ex-service man who is drawing a military pension through SBI Chengannur. I had a standing power of attorney authorizing SBI Chengannur to do all things necessary to collect my pension and deposit it into my SB NRO account. Till November 2010 everything went well, and then the pension stopped. In February 2011 while I was on vacation, I went and saw the person in charge of military pensions and explained the situation. After going through the documents it was found that the life certificate was not forwarded to the DPDO and was promised the situation will be corrected. However, I didn’t receive any pension thereafter.
This time in March 2012, upon on my enquiry at bank and going back and forth four times in the span of two days between DPDO Pathanamthitta and SBI Chengannur, I found that the life certificate without a pre-receipt was send by SBI Chengannur and DPDO Pathanamthitta send it back asking the bank to re-submit it with a pre-receipt. Up until 2010 the bank had no problem submitting a pre-receipt on my behalf with the power of attorney. Also, all other banks including SBI had no problem in sending these receipts. However, in my case SBI Chengannur had a problem and still I was not able to convince them that they had to send a pre-receipt on my behalf, based on my power of attorney. Since I was not able to convince them of this, I withdrew my power of attorney.
Since the pension was not collected for two years because of bank negligence / ignorance of their own procedures, I had to complete additional formalities which involved getting an affidavit in a Rupees 50/- bond paper. I tried to get a 50 or 100 or even 500 Rupees bond paper, from Pathanamthitta, Aruanmula, Chengannur, and Adoor but was unsuccessful. That day alone I spent Rupees 4500/- in taxi charges alone. The next day I was able to get a Rupees 100/- bond paper from an attorney through the influence of another person. (Since the Government is going to switch to e-payment for all services, no bond papers are available (in open market)).
When all the formalities were completed my total expense was about Rupees 12700/- (Twelve thousand seven hundred plus) excluding the meals and other expenses and what was left of those two days from the previous ordeal with the bank and an extra day to complete the new formalities at the DPDO.
Worst of all is, out of my 21 valuable days of vacation three days were spent straightening out the mess created by the negligence / ignorance of their own procedures by State Bank of India Chengannur. What will be your reaction to this?
Thank you.

I am an NRI and I bank with State Bank of India Chengannur, Kerala. I recently visited India and this is my experience with SBI, Part One/Two. What am I expecting out of writing this? Probably nothing, I am just venting out some of my frustrations. I never thought I would be writing this, so I am sorry that didn’t note anyone’s name or title.
I had two fixed deposits and a NRO SB (Pension) account in this bank. One of my fixed deposits was already maturing, and I wrote to the manager not to renew it and he responded back asking for my SB account number to deposit the same and I responded back with that information.
Upon my arrival at the bank I contacted the window clerk/ cashier and explained the situation and she checked and confirmed my doubt that the amount was not deposited in my SB account. She pointed to the back and asked me to see a Manager. I went and handed over the certificate to the manager at desk 1. He looked at the certificate, at the computer and also attended to other customers at the same time. After about an hour and a half later, he asked me to give the certificate to the manager at desk 2. She took about half an hour looking back and forth and asked me to give to the gentlemen at desk 3. After about an hour, he told me that it was already renewed and it, being a joined account, needed to bring my wife in also to pre-maturely close it. Then again I explained him it can’t be renewed because I requested the manager not to renew it and he responded to my e-mail. Needless to say the account was renewed and after about three to three and a half hours, I went back home without cashing it out.
The next day, again I went to the bank with my wife and approached the manager on desk 3 and explained the situation. She told me all about the interest, taxes and PAN card and its implications and so on. So I presented her our PAN cards. Now she wanted me to write an application on a white sheet of paper to link our PAN card numbers to our accounts and attach our passport size photos to the application and give a photo copy of the PAN cards. So I went out again did all the arrangements and came back to the bank. Now another manager was sitting at table 3 she looked at all this she took the PAN card typed on the computer and told me it is added. She needed no application, photos or photo copies.
She sent me back to the manager on table 2 again. She again looked at it, after several consultations with other mangers ask me if this is an NRO account. When I said yes, (that was her ‘eureka’ moment, after about 6 to 7 hours back and forth) she directs me to another manager on desk 4. After about one hour and two signatures later he said it is done. At this point, I give my second CD which was not matured and requested it to be cashed out too. He explained that I will be losing interest and so on. But, I was so fed up and frustrated, I decided to do only the very minimum banking with State Bank of India, and would definitely advise anyone in my family, who wanted to Bank with State Bank of India not to.
Out of my 21 valuable days of vacation two days worth of time and taxi charges were spend to withdraw the money which was mine in the first place. Would you bank with this Bank again? Do you think these employees care about the bank or its customers?
Thank you.

roadblocks and callous attitude
I am trying to get sbi marina arcade branch to transfer my own money back to me but they did not accept my email and scanned pdf instructions. I went to the local sbi office in washington dc and they sent my request to the indian branch but still it was rejected. The delhi branch wants the letter couriered to them causing me further delay, economic loss and harrasment. I was told by the delhi marina arcade branch personnel that they do not trust the communication from their colleagues in the washington dc office either and that the dc office should have attested my letter first. How is the dc office expected to attest my letter when the marina arcade branch has my file and money for over fifteen years. They can very well compare signatures when I sent them the instructions or when they originated from their own usa office.
It seems very hypocritical as state bank of india has always accepted my remittance instructions by both email and fax. I am a proud indian but it seems that we will never be considered a tier one country as one of the main reasons is our antiquated banking system.
nri's beware, sbi harassing customers for seeking bribe
Nri beware
Sbi staff in bangalore are seeking for bribe/gifts/favor for processing home loan. there are many complaints in 2011 year alone where sbi officials were nabbed by cbi for taking bribe and indulging in unethical practices.
I had very bitter experience with j. c road bangalore branch of state bank of india, I was harassed for over 1 month for not complying with their illicit demand of gift/favor, after receiving all the documents when I was looking for home loan. the said branch would keep in loop demanding for same paper multiple times, just to make sure that customer takes easy route indian way. this matter was reported to chairman. I have heard regional manager supporting the concerned branch denying all the facts. but cbi website can be checked for various offenses by sbi staff who are mostly corrupt or inefficient or dishonest in their work. their staff are least courteous and hardly aware of any professionalism. they still operate as typical indian government babus. this bank is total waste of time as it is considered to be a risky bank managed by babus. please do not venture with their services if you value your money and time. don'[t fall prey of their catchy ads promoted by private companies. their working style is still age old corruption ridden. for more proof google sbi bribe words and you will hit with many similar scams.

I am Joshi working in Mumbai Port Trust. I am a customer of SBI, Fort Market branch, Mumbai. Of late I find the lower level officers of that branch demanding bribes either in cash or kind. Especially, there is one junior officer by name Chitra Bhashyam who is very rude to customers. She is always found chatting with men in front of customers and never cares about wasting the valuable time of customers. Recently, I had been to the branch to make some enquiries about the various deposit rates and schemes available, she bluntly refused to even listen to me . She openly demanded that she will attend to me only if I give her dry fruits/sweets/ mangoes/ . I have never seen the customer service scoop to such a low level in SBI. No wonder SBI's profit has fallen steeply due to such dedicated staff who want to enrich at the cost of the bank. I request you Sir, to take stern action against her. Nothing can be proved because the bribe requested is always in kind and she can always deny and pose that such items have been given to her out of affection and love of customers towards her. She lacks decency and minimum manners as to how she should behave with customers. My request to you Sir, Please ensure that first of all she be trained as to how to behave with customers and how to behave office etiqqite. I request you Sir, to please take appropriate immediate action against her otherwise the image of SBI will be spoilt due to officers/staff members like her.

fraud
One lady called few times saying that she is calling from SBI bank to give some promotional offers and to increase the credit line. She asked me about my credit card details . I am an aged retired person. I could not believe that she is not from the bank. After I hang up I got the message from SBI that Rs. 6999 has been charged on my credit card. I hope that bank will take some action to recognize that it is a fraudulent
cas and I will not be charged.
This fraud case is not against SBI, It is against IVRCACHE MARCHENTILE PVT. LIMITED.
sbi cheats customers of interest
My experience with SBI has always been horrible. I live in US. I do not even remember a time when I was able to do anything meaningful with them without problems. Take my last experience - I sent some money to India on 26-Sep. The bank says the money reached India only on 12-Oct. (I think that is how the bank makes money - cheating customers of interest for 17 days when they transfer money). I had to argue with 10 different people to get a value-date of 29-Sep in India. The bank promised to return me interest from 29-Sep to 12-Oct - this comes to around 2000 rupees, now the bank has returned only 600 rupees. Now I will have to write 50 emails and make 10 phone calls to get the remaining interest. It is such a headache dealing with SBI. Stay away from SBI all you NRIs

Honoured Sir, Sub:-Denial for payment of FMA arrears by SBI/CPPC, Mushirabad, SC – reg.
It is to inform that in order to get Fixed Medical Allowance with arrears, as was given and giving to all I have also applied duly filing application and the undertaking form on [protected] and followed by detailed letter dated [protected] to the SBI concerned Officials. I have submitted the application in duplicate with all the relevant documents and the Undertaking Form to the concerned SBI. Lalaguda Branch authorities for payment of FMA and the arrears accrued thereon from my retirement day- i.e. from [protected] to [protected], Other Pensioners drawing Pension from SBI Bank/Branches have also applied on the same lines; it was brought out that no pensioner is being paid arrears. As there was no response on the issue, on 28-10-2011 I have attended the SBI/CPPC Office, SC and met the concerned officials on the payment of FMA and the arrears, but the concerned Officer, Sri. Rajender had informed that as per the Oral/telephonic Orders received from Sri. Ganeshan, FA&CAO/SCR, SC ‘no arrears shall be paid and only FMA shall be granted from the date of application’ and that for me the FMA, Rs. 300/- Per month has been included in the monthly pension from the Month of Oct, 2011.
When I have drawn the attention on Para No. 3 of the ‘Undertaking’, issued by the Ministry of Railways. which clearly indicated about payment of the FMA arrears also as per the claim from the date of retirement, he categorically informed and suggested that the matter may be brought to the notice of the FA&CAO/SCR, SC (Sri.Ganeshan) and others too, who had directed them not to sanction/include the arrears as the Railways is incurring lot of financial inflation and to be curtailed through this type of FMA arrears non-payment . This is nothing but by using Power of Authority and selecting due discrimination and differentiation amongst Pensioners and the PDAs in a selected mode of repression, etc in India. Only selected shall be deprived of the privilege granted by the Govt. of India.
He also informed that there are no written Orders/letters from the FA&CAO/SCR, SC but they are honouring the words received on phone information, and not paying any arrears to any Pensioners. When I brought to his notice that some other Banks have already paid and also paying the arrears on FMA in these recent months, he informed that he has no say on the same.
In the circumstances, I earnestly request you kindly to do the needful by making a reference to the concerned Railway Authorities or any other whom you feel fit and proper on this issue as to why the SBI/PDA-- CPPC, SC should honour the oral/phone directions having no confirmation copy in writing and to be applied to whole of the Pensioners alike in India, and the Bank declining to pay the arrears and why the FA&CAO/SCR, SC has directed and ordered not to pay the arrears of FMA to the Railway Pensioners drawing their pension through SBI Bank branches, why not his be deplored from your side and from the RBI also. I pray to do the justice.
Thanking you Sir,

Sir,
I am sending a copy herein for favour of information and further necessary action at our end, with a hope that still justice and equality before Law remain with you, at least.
I personally feel disgusted and astonished to hear from your authorized officials that even the Bank Authorities are lurking around the oral instructions also, making the Pensioners to move around them, for the reasons best known to them, and with the attitude of the Officials of the SBI for giving so much of weight-age on the oral/phone Orders/Directions, if any, and adopting to discontinue at mass and one sided decision only to make the Pensioners of the PDA/SBI Branches to feel individualized and discriminated and separated from the other Pensioners of other sister Banks in the City and in India. This action is nothing short of exspatiari.
Let there be at least one Policy adopted by you with a definite bench mark date to give arrears to the eligible Pensioners applying for FMA. While other Banks are giving and respecting the Ministry of Railways and that of the RBI Orders on the matter of sanctioning /crediting arrears of FMA from the date of the claim, that in the prescribed and formulated proforma, and your authorities just ignoring the same and in particular PARA No. 03 of the Undertaking, is beyond imagination of your thoughts and aspirations in denying and refusing to honour the Ministry of Railways and others Orders / Directions etc.
If you all feel that by paying arrears the Government is losing its revenue and funds inflated, then chalk out a Policy to be applicable to one and all, but not like this type of tactics in showing favoritisms and the like from Bank to Bank and from one place to the other in India. Status, Dignity, mysticism in the working system, Values and accountability is going to be lost for ever. No one shall thieve around for money sake, it is the privilege given the Government and the same shall not be discriminated and on influence.
Hope at least you can help us in the matter.

credit card misuse
Dear Sir/Madam,
I had to write an email complaint since the SBI customer call center phone service is available 8AM-8PM only Mon-Sat.
I received a SMS on my mobile at 5:11PM, today about a transaction done on my SBI card - Silver (credit card).
Transaction for Rs 6, 067 at PRIVILEGE CIRCLE FEE on Sept 30 2011.
Cardholder name: INDIRA C P
Card# ending: 5962
I want to know how this transaction happened and the details of card misuse. "I do not want to pay a single penny for transactions that were not done by me". SBI is the bank I completely trust and am surprised by this incident.
I hope to hear from you ASAP. My mobile# [protected].
Thanks,
-Indira
