customer service
I have been a loyal Talbots customer for over 20 years. I never shop online because in the past I've always enjoyed the shopping experience at Talbots in Bellevue Square. The last time I shopped there I couldn't believe how awful my experience was. They have hired a new manager who I personally saw yell at a sales associate. As I watched what I saw I was shocked to see how she treated employees. So disheartening! It's the first time I was completely ignored and left alone to find my own sizes. In the past I have never had to leave the fitting room because of the excellent customer service I used to get. After talking to a few of my friends who are also true Talbots customers they all said they had the same experience. The atmosphere in that store is very hostile and cold. I will still shop at Talbots but I and a lot of my friends will simply shop online instead. What a disappointment.
talbots charge card
Do NOT use their charge card! I opened card received first bill and paid balance in full. The payment was a few days late due to a death in my family. I never received another bill - though they state they were mailed - and then received a phone call on a delinquent account. I called talbot and was told I had $60 worth of late fees not paid. I explained my circumstances and told them my other bills had been late that month due to death and everyone understood and waived any fees. Talbot said they would only cut it down to $32 despite my escalation to a manager. I paid the money so my credit would not be impacted but what a horrible experience.
service
The worst shopping experience at Talbots in Bellevue Square. From the white haired sales lady named Nancy who not only ignored me until she saw I had an arm full of clothes. She never came back to check on me and then finally another sales associate with dark hair and a gray streak checked on my but never returned with the items I requested! Obviously I left and didn't buy anything and what was even more disappointing was that I later found out that the other sales associate who also didn't bother was the store manager! Wow! Disappointing I've been a loyal talbots customer for over 20 years and have recently moved to Washington and was thrilled that there was a Talbots near by me.
bad experience
These people are nasty and rude and they refuse to provide any help! Bought a jacket from Talbots and after one wash it just fell apart! So I called the company and asked them if there was a way to get an exchange and they said that since I already used it and washed it no exchange and refund was possible. I told them that it was not my fault and that fabric was of a poor quality since it fell apart after the first wash, and then the person on the phone raised his voice and started to blame me! No reputable company that cares about their reputation does things like that!
theft
Talbots had an "internet service upgrade" issue this week that resulted in them charging my credit card $353.44 without ever placing an order, basically amounting to theft. I have not got a satisfactory response. Instead, I've been placed on hold for extensive periods of time, told the person who could help wasn't in, my calls dropped while placed on hold with no follow-up, etc. End result is that they have utterly failed to return the money they took and hours of my life wasted. I now have to file a claim with my bank and wait for the claim process to resolve while I am out over $350. Don't trust this company!
pathetic service
I am sick of shopping at Talbots in Bellevue Square. This last shopping experience was horrific. On my way out I made sure I got the names of these sales girls. First of all I was completely ignored. The 2 sales girls that were work there didn't bother to ask me if I needed help. I took my items to my fitting room and had to walk out and exchange items that...

i am a long time customer of Talbots. Today, I visited the 54th and Madison Avenue store in NY NY. I inquired about where the women's plus size department was. I was informed that the department was on one floor and clothing on sale was another floor. I went to the floor and was directed to another floor. The sales representative stated all the clothing was moved. In addition, no items were on sale. I found the women's plus size which was comprised to one quarter of the floor. I was shocked to see that the Women Plus size space was significantly reduced. In addition, i asked to use the Ladies Room and was told that it was under repair for approximately 3 months. For many years I have relied on Talbots for stylish clothing, exceptional customer services and small details which differentiates itself from other stores such as putting the receipt in a small tiny envelope. I hope you will evaluate these concerns.
Stop sending catalog
On July 17, 2013, my mother, Catherine Sisson passed away. Shortly thereafter, I sent a request to stop sending catalogs. I figured this take several months. It is ridiculous after two years of no activity to keep sending a catalog.

It was my first time into a Talbots store. I have some neighbors who are avid shoppers and after much encouragement I heeded to their advice. Immediately I was greeted by this salesgirl who was well dressed and well spoken. I made sure I made note of her name "Naz" as she immediately remembered my name. She kept on checking on me while I was in the fitting room and making sure that I had all the right sizes. I also noticed she was busy attending to other customers and she was just as energetic and gracious with them as she was with me. I appreciated her honesty and suggestions when trying on different outfits. As she walked me to the register she got stopped by another customer who needed some assistance. I waited at the register where there was no line but there was a salesgirl named Nancy standing by the register who did not acknowledge me and then finally walked off. A few minutes later after Naz had helped out the customer she quickly came back to me at the register and apologized that I was still waiting. I assured her that it wasn't her fault and I admired how attentive she was to all the customer's needs. As she rang me up she was a delight to talk to. When she handed me my bag I asked if they worked on commission and she said they did not and that it was her pleasure to help me. It is rare to find such authenticity in sales person. She was a gem! However, I came into the store a few weeks later and the other salesgirl Nancy was there and now that she wanted to make a sale she was completely phony. I wanted to remind her how rude she was a few weeks before! So ladies look out for an elderly white-haired angry-looking salesgirl and if she's there shop another day because even if you do not want her help she will follow you around. Great store otherwise.
I was shopping at Talbots in North Brunswick, NJ and usually I have always had very nice sales people to deal with until today, November 6th, 2015. I had a blonde haired lady helping me and she was no help at all. The pants I tried on were too big and she never came in to find out how they fit me. I had to GET DRESSED AGAIN and bring them out and then she came back to get the right size and disappeared again She could not have cared less about helping her customers but she did care about going to get a batch of cookies which she placed by the couch. That was obviously more important than taking care of her customers!
I like how you call the sales people girls when you are acting like a child. If you were an adult you would know that the sales person is not a mind reader and you should speak up and say you are ready to check out. If you cannot do this than shop with a parent. She was not rude to you, you just need someone to speak up for you and ask for help for you since you are so incompetent and cannot do that yourself. My guess is you are four years old?
they charged me for additional sum, but I have no idea for what
I placed the order on the website www.talbots.com. Everything was ok until these jerks charged me for the order. They took money for the order and at the same time they charged for something else. I was shocked and tried to get this sum back, ‘coz it was almost $30. The rep refused and told me that it was fee, but he hasn’t explained for what type of fee. I asked the seller about it, but he stopped to communicate. Please, share your views about this company.
fake charges and # from this company ignored me
I bought from the website www.talbots.com. I paid about $50 for the order, which was horrible and I wouldn’t advise to buy from this company. The quality was awful and the seller refused to return money. I recently checked my account and it turned out that they started to charge me without my notice. I cancelled my credit card, ‘coz these ### didn’t reply.I wonder if there are other people, who had the same experience. Let’s share views about this website.
defective clothing, would not lower price
have been a loyal customer of Talbots for years and have been awarded your Classic membership.
I went to your Springfield, PA store to shop and found a nice two piece set. But when examining the skirt there was a little hole in it and so I asked the manager, Susan if she can reduce the price for me because of it. She told me that they were not allowed to do that. So I would like to know why you would want customers to pay the regular price for defective items at talbots? I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE YOUR PRICES ARE STEEP BUT I LOVE YOUR CLOTHES AND NOW YOU CANNOT, WILL NOT EVEN DO THIS FOR A CLASSIC AWARDS MEMBER?
I cannot believe that your company would want customers to pay full price for something that is defective and I do not know if I want to continue being a customer at your store.

refused to refund
I went to the Talbots Store in the Outlet Mall to return a pair of shorts I bought 6 weeks ago, with the price tags and receipt (they didn't fit). Since 30 days had passed, they wouldn't let me exchange or return them. Buyer Beware! They are very firm and uncompromising on this 30 day limit. I used to buy a lot from them, but I won't shop there anymore.
It is written plainly on the receipt THIRTY DAYS. NOT 6 weeks!
So you are blaming them because you waited too long to return the item? Policies are set for a reason. Not their fault you didn't adhere to it.
bad products and services
Price is higher and higher. Meanwhile, the quality is going down. Their sales ladies in stores are treating the customers in a humiliate way. Very bad experience for shopping in their stores. Basically, they are showing they don't care about their customers other than making money from them. I will never buy this product any more and not recommend to anybody.
Just got home from the hospital. Finally got to sleep and Talbot's calls our home phone with an automated phone call. They hid themselves from the caller ID which, I believe, is illegal.
bad manufacturing
I just contacted Talbots today regarding a defective shoulder bag on which the clasps/buckles that attach the strap to the bag have been detaching on their own for about 2 years. I would simply use a pair of pliers to close the gap created. Of course all this first occurred way after the 30 day return policy was up. All I wanted was to have the bag returned to the manufacturer, but was told there is none to contact, and that I would not be granted a return, which is not what I wanted. I actually would love to have the defect addressed and the bag repaired, as the design is not your usual bag/strap attachment. And I bought 2 of them so I am expecting problems with the other as the one I carried today actually broke beyond a common repair job. Needless to say, Talbots has lost me as a consumer.
Trying this post again. I just contacted Nordstrom's and got this reply:
"We stand behind the items we sell, if there is ever an ongoing quality issue we would discuss it with the manufacturer, we also offer wonderful return/exchange policies, with no specified time frame for return/exchanges.
It never hurts to ask. so goodbye Talbots, and to you folks who like to offer your opinions, have a great life.

It never hurts to ask, so good-bye Talbots, and goodbye trolls. Have a blessed life.
No, and neither am I. A bad manufacturing practice will go unnoticed for a time until something fails. Also, I am a long-time Talbots consumer, and your snide remarks are absolutely unnecessary. Try to be nice to someone today. It will go rewarded.

poor quality - poor fit - over priced
Don't waste your money. The clothing is of very poor quality. The fits are erratic and, from my experience, never quite right. The cheap material in some clothing causes it to stretch as you wear it to the point that you look like you are wearing rags. I have had clothing shrink such that I can not wear it - and I followed the washing instructions.
It used to be that you could count on Talbots for quality and style, but that simply is no longer the case. The cheap, imported clothing is over priced, the quality is gone and frumpy simply isn't stylish! I have several outfits that I simply cannot wear -- I was told by an unhelpful clerk that she could recommend a tailor!
I don't mind paying for a quality product, but I hate to feel that I have wasted my money. I am now looking for boutique lines of clothing made in America out of American produced cloth and materials.
Talbots lost focus on quality has lead to its demise and the company has only itself to blame.

I have shopped Talbots for 27 years. Once was that I'd go in and be helped cheerfully by a savvy lady to find classic clothing, size 8, and everything to complete the outfit. I never questioned if it would fit. Everything was a perfect fit. All these years later, these clothes still fit perfectly. Now, however, I can wear a 10, 12, 8 from Talbots and none of it fit! The quality is nonexistent and service, what service? My old size 8 pants are STILL fitting and looking new. When I began shopping Talbots and for many years after, under every description in every catalog, it proudly stated "Made In The USA"! I calculated I have spent $25, 000 easily in 27 years. This year I have spent 0.
poor quality
Just an overall disgruntled complaint.
I have been an avid Talbots shopper for as far back as I remember..
WIthin the past 2 years I have REALLY noticed the quality of their clothes going downhill. Sweaters seams simply open..neck bands pull away from cardigans and items that recommend hand washing..SHRINK terribly. Not a cheap store..and when you don't give me value for money, I am walking.
Too bad.

Completely agree. Thin knits that pill and wear out before the season is even over. $120 Pants with zippers that break after two wearings. Really? Really! I can no longer be loyal to this store. And I've been shopping at Talbots for 25 years. What a shame.
talbots store south lake, tx
south lake store manager Kelly is very rude. Talbots customer service is really going downhill. I am not going to shopping there again. I paid $160 in cash, but the store manager Kelly told me I can only get store credit for refund because the store does not have cash, can you believe it - i hope this does not mean it will be going out of business soon.

return policy
I have been shopping at talbots for over 20 years and I have never been so outraged. I recently purchased a number of items on sale from my wish list. Let me say I shop online with talbots only since they do not carry my size in the stores. I did not notice that there were now two words under the price that until the end of june had never been there before...

Beware of Talbots increasing their prices online! I have been a loyal customer for years. I have noticed that customer service in their stores has gone downhill. However, when I call about a problem they try to do the right thing. Recently I have noticed online sales claiming additional 25% off and it is the same price as previously. I overlooked this but today I placed pants in my cart and was completing the transaction when the website went down. Several hours later when I was able to connect to Talbot's again they were $10 higher...2 separate pair of pants! Customer service claimed they could not do anything. I am not sure I will continue shopping here! Sad because this use to be one of the finest apparel stores around!
