I bought not just one but two pairs of timberland pro work boots. They were not cheap (~$110 a pair) and were oil resistant, slip resistant, electrical shock resistant with steel toes. The soles disintegrated and cracked in multiple place all the way through. The upper leather and leather lace eyes were fine, but the soles were dangerous. I used them for construction work, hiking and walking around town and they should not have disintegrated and cracked. The rubber in the soles is clearly inferior. Too bad they don't make the shoes in the usa anymore. Twice burned. . . I hope my new red wings last longer.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
put these boots on today to go to work and look at this [censored]. Literally soles are disintegrating. What type of bs quality is Timberland putting out there. I cant believe they are doing this. They arent new but still. For a sole to crack and just mush like this is unheard of
I have had 4 pairs of Timberland boots starting back in 1999. The first pair were some hiking boots that I rarely wore. I left them in the garage for a few years and upon cleaning I found them and when I picked them up the sole just fell right off one of the boots. Before throwing them in the garbage I did some research and found they offer a lifetime warranty. I was pleased that they stuck by there lifetime warranty and after sending them in for inspection they found the boots to be defective. To my surprise the same thing happened to the next pair of boots they sent as replacements. I do not wear boots that often, maybe a couple months out of the year due to the warm climate in South Western Florida, but if I did wear them everyday they would not last 6 months. This happened again and again! I continue to take advantage of their warranty and I am on my third pair of free warranty boots. I would not buy another pair of Timberland boots ever. I will however take advantage of a lifetime warranty. I think what happened was that they used to be made in the U.S.A. when they started with this "Lifetime Warranty" and after they started manufacturing overseas the quality and craftsmanship became far inferior. It has to be the glue they use. Somewhere along the lines they stopped stitching the sole to the upper. My advise to anyone with Timberland boots that are falling apart is to contact their customer service department.. My advice to anyone who is in the market for boots that last is DO NOT BUY Timberland boots! Below I have included an email that I received from there customer service department.

I will never buy TIMBERLANDS AGAIN. The sole crumbled off and they are only a year old. I guess they should label them do not walk on salted sidewalks in NYC in the winter. They are garbage and I am out of $100. They should be ashamed of themselves. worthless crap
This is an old thread but I'd like to add a similar experience. My wife bought me a pair of Timberland boots and the soles cracked on both boots. The water wets the inside of the boot on a rainy day. Timberland boots aren't good anymore. I remember a pair I had in high school- "Made in USA" -I believe and they lasted so long: 4 years of abuse and the soles never cracked. I have another pair that sat in the closet, hardly ever worn, and the soles magically disintegrated. I believe this is called dry rot. Every other part of the boot is in like-new condition. I also believe I will never buy Timberland ever again even if they're on sale. Timberland makes junk, Chinese-quality shoes and boots and Timberland is living off their former glory. Profit over durability and the customer is treated like dirt. Soon we'll be in the Charlie Chaplin era with shoes because current technology is not being used to make products more durable but less durable. I hope this and the other comments serve as a warning not to buy Timberland boots or you'll be ripped off.
i bought shoes online from this website and since then l have not had a word from them. no tracking number nothing.
do not accept any package or envelope-had a CRIMINAL do the same, call credit card ASAP
Bought my pair 6 to 8 months ago hardly ever wore them until about 2 months ago started wearing every day for work and began to notice leather seems at stitches coming apart. Have always bought these boots for durability and comfort and very disappointed in quality now.have never had this happen to timberline in Twenty years.may as well get a cheap pair of 49 dollar boots if there only going to last for one year.
I bought my first pair of Timberland Pro Haystacks in 2009. Like many say, they were the most comfortable boot I ever owned from the get go. Not only that, but they lasted me nearly 5 years. I was so impressed by the comfort and quality of that first pair that when they finally gave in I bought 2 of the same style. One for work, and one for everything else. In 2009 I think I paid $110.00. When I bought the 2nd and 3rd pair in 2014 the price had risen to $150 a pair. That was quite a price hike for only 5 years, but what the heck, they are worth it right? Fast forward 4 months and the sole is coming apart at the seem where it is glued to the cushioned part of the sole. I contact Timberland and they have me send them the boots so they can inspect them and see if they are defective. They will let me know their decision in a few weeks. No problem, I'll just wear the 2nd pair I bought for casual things to work from now on. 2 months later the same thing happens to the second pair. Meanwhile Timberland informed me that yes, they were defective but that style has been discontinued. I was able to get a pair of hiking boots for around the same price. I waiting for those to arrive before contacting Timberland about the second defective pair of boots. When the hiking boots arrived I immediately tried them on and found they aren't comfortable at all. They force you to walk on your in-step rather than flat footed. If I wasn't tired of the headache of having to deal with the whole return process I would send both pairs of these boots back. I know I would only receive the same garbage so why waste my time and money sending them to a company that sold it's sole to China? I'm not sure when they made that move to China but I'm guessing it was after 2009 when I got the pair of boots that lasted 5 years.
I bought some timberland earth keepers suede boots and they look great that is until it rains
I had them for a while but one night while walking in London it started to rain and that's when my problem started
The boots were lethal while walking I slipped and fell over and had to make my way home clinging onto what ever I could find avoiding the wet pavements even the camber of the road was to much to stay upright.
I can't believe a company could make a boot so bad.
Has anybody else had this problem ?
disintegration of sole material.
My timberlands sole fully cracked straight through, I paid $110.00 for maybe 8 months worth of service, so not worth the money. Red wings sry for straying.
Bottoms fell apart !
I have a pair of timberland boots T171038, never wore them, still in the box, the soles have turned into a gummy substance & falling away from the boot. I can't believe timberline would except this grade quality in USA & Canada. If these where made china, shame on them, they deserve the poor quality reputation that they have! Thank You. Windsor, Ontario, Canada
These are Timberland shoes. I was wearing and kept feeling my shoes sticking to floor and leaving black residue. So I took them off to wipe them off and noticed the split sole, Sole is not even worn yet they split. What kind of material are you using? The leather upper is in great condition… not sure what material you are using on your shoe sole. Terribly disappointed
Been wearing Timberlands since the 1990s never had problems. 2023 and my fresh black timberland pro boots sole just disintegrated. You can’t tell me this is normal. They were a gift so no receipt and don’t have the box. I will NEVER buy another pair of Timberlands again.
